The Bachelor 13 - Jason

ATFR 2 Taping

Here’s what I know what happened coming from someone who was there:

-Jillian is announced as the next Bachelorette.
-Melissa was not there. Chris Harrison had a written letter from Melissa that he read which stated she was fine, she’s moved on, and doesn’t regret anything about anything happened.
-Showed the finale and ATFR 1 condensed to the audience into a 90 minute version, so it was basically a clip show of the two shows combined. Jason proposed to Melissa. Him crying on the balcony was after he had let Molly go, and before Melissa had arrived. Melissa obviously accepted the proposal. They leave NZ engaged. (Gee, I said that a month ago).
-DeAnna actually does ask him to take her back, but he’s like, “Look loser, I’m in love with two other women.” So I’m sure she was put put up to that since she just had broken up with Jesse two weeks earlier. DeAnna admitted to choosing the “wildcard”, but said she should’ve picked him instead. Oh please. More B.S. Blah blah blah….

-Jason dumps Melissa on camera. When Melissa came out, she was in a somber mood. Like she knew what was about to happen. They barely embraced. Made it seem like Melissa knew it was coming. Jason tells her he can’t stop thinking about Molly. Melissa asks if he had contact with her, he says no. She says, “You chose me, but you’re not willing to fight for me?” Basically accusing him of changing his mind. “We left New Zealand, we spent all this time together, and now you want to spend all this time with someone else. I don’t get it.”
-Jason just says the chemistry is different, and he can’t stop thinking of Molly. So Melissa is pissed that he proposed but basically wussed out and didn’t give their relationship a chance.
-Last thing shown to everyone is Chris Harrison saying, “I’ll leave you two alone to talk”. Then Melissa telling Jason, “Don’t text me, don’t call me, don’t email me, I don’t want anyone contact with you, we’re done.” She gets up, leaves, gets into a limo, and talks to the camera.

-She leaves and they bring Molly out. Molly has NO IDEA this has just happened with Melissa. She thinks she’s coming out to ask Jason her questions, and he explains he just dumped Melissa. Basically telling her he can’t stop thinking about her. Molly keeps looking at Chris Harrison thinking this is all a joke.
-She asks, “What about Melissa?” Jason says “I don’t expect you to get engaged to me now, but can we explore this.” Molly says she’ll give it a chance. Once Molly is over the shock, she says they have a lot to talk about, she feels sorry for Melissa, but she’s willing to see where things go and she can’t help but be a little bit happy. Said her feelings have never changed since getting dumped in New Zealand. Shows ends there.

-Chris Harrison talking to Naomi, Nikki, Stephanie, Kari, and Erica live in studio. Gets their reaction to everything that happened. They essentially all bag on Jason saying if he was that conflicted, he should’ve waited and not proposed.
-Took questions and comments from the audience. Some of the girls on stage answered some of the questions, but it was basically getting feedback.
-Jason comes out next by himself. This is when Chris Harrison reads the letter from Melissa. Afterwards, Jason defends his decision saying he had to do it, didn’t want to lead Melissa on, follow his heart, Molly was constantly on his mind, blah blah blah
-Bring Molly out by herself first then Jason joins her. Talk about how everything is great. Rewatches her segment from ATFR 1 and reiterates she was really surprised, had a lot of questions, but Jason answered them. Her family had questions too, but, they’re fine with it now and they love Jason. She’s planning on moving to Seattle once everything dies down. Hope people aren’t mad at him for following his heart. Jason is mad that people are saying bad things about Molly. Molly states for the record, she is NOT pregnant.
-When both out there, Chris Harrison asks Jason at what point he had something for Molly, and audience member screams “The tent!” So they bring the tent out to both of them as their gift.

-Show ends with them bringing Jillian out and announcing her as the next Bachelorette.

Final analysis:

I’ve been vindicated! Thank god. Why would I have lied to you people? I had nothing to gain by lying in all this. Nothing. I was truthful and honest from the beginning. You gotta remember, what was shown to the audience was a 90 minute version of the 2 hr finale and ATFR 1. So things can be spliced up, edited, and shown out of order. But this was the bare bones of what was shown.

So when Melissa asks him, “Did you have contact with Molly?” and he says, “No”, there might be more to it. They didn’t see the whole show, the just saw the highlights of the ATFR 1. I’ll say it now, Melissa suspected Jason was seeing/texting/emailing/talking to Molly. That’s why she asked. There’s no way he didn’t contact her in those two months. Not a chance. But like I said, this is the way I thought ABC would spin this – that he just changed his mind. And that’s what they’re going to present. Hey, if you want to believe that, go ahead. I will always believe differently. He did not just change his mind without having spoken to her in 2 months in my mind. No way.

Also, as some of the bachelorettes said, if he was THAT conflicted at the final rose ceremony, why even propose to Melissa? If you don’t think for a second this was part of a plan, then I don’t know what to tell you. There’s no way anyone in their right mind, if they were truly in love with two people, would propose to one, then two months later, dump her on national television. I’m seriously contemplating printing out the email conversation now between Melissa and Jason that was done after the ATFR 1 was taped. It verifies everything I’m saying here and coincides with what Melissa said at the taping once he broke up with her. All Jason is doing in these emails is apologizing for what he did and wishes he would’ve handled it better and not listened to the producers. Now that we know how this all plays out, you can’t tell me the emails were fake. I’m sorry. I never thought they were, the addresses were verified, and exactly what happened tonight is exactly what’s in them, EXCEPT for the fact that Melissa knew Jason had contact with Molly while they were engaged. And ABC conveniently left that part out. But something still tells they might not have left it out, and we will see the full meltdown. Guess we’ll find out Monday.

So the question til the end of time will be this: When did Molly know about all this? When she left New Zealand, I truly believe Molly knew nothing. She thought it was over and she was heartbroken because she had just been dumped. I’m telling you, I will believe beyond a shadow of a doubt until the end of time, that Jason and Molly were in contact during the two months from the taping of the finale in New Zealand until the ATFR 1 taping in January. Here’s something else to ponder? Why would they bring Melissa out first, have Molly backstage not listening in to anything going on, if they didn’t have ANY idea what was about to happen? Don’t they ALWAYS bring the F2 girl out first on the ATFR shows so she can ask her questions and get her answers first? Please.

In closing, all the phonies out there who tried to tell you Jason and Melissa were happy and engaged, Molly was pregnant, Melissas parents were the real issue, Jason’s mom was posting on message boards, and all the other crazy rumors you’ve heard over the last month, you couldn’t have been more wrong and congratulations on trying to throw people off. The bottom line is I told you on Jan. 27th what the outcome of this show would be, and today’s taping proved it. I’m sure Jasons pleading of “Don’t hate Molly” and “I went with my gut and I’m happy as a clam right now” will tug at the heartstrings of some of you, but hey, I’m not buying it. At all. I believe Jason Mesnick knew during the filming he was going to pick Molly, was told to pick Melissa so they could create this shocking, dramatic finale, and he went along with it. I guess its my word against theirs until eternity. I tend to think my word is worth more.

Bravo Steve! If everything comes to light as you have detailed for us then I say kudos to you for not staying quiet with what you found out. So I thought I would throw my 2 cents (and perhaps a little circumstantial evidence) out here in support of you and Melissa.

    1. For those who were up in arms when you said TB was “scripted”, here is one of the 2 definitions of that word from Merriam-Websters dictionary:

to provide carefully considered details for (as a plan of action)

That doesn’t mean Jason had to have a script of specific *dialogue* for the show, only that he was given a plan of action to follow through with. Such as who to choose, when to choose them, etc. I think that is an obvious method of operations during ALL Bachelor/Bachelorette seasons. I mean really, how many times has “That Crazy Girl” made it wwaaayy longer in the house than she should have? Heck, I think it was in Jesse Palmer’s Bachelor season that they even brought that crazy Trish (or was it Trisha) back to ambush him on the Fantasy Suite episode AFTER he had finally given her the boot. So for people to deny some kind of scripting from ABC/Fleiss would be ignoring the elephant in the room.

    2. ABC/Fleiss got too ambitious with their storyline. They should have kept things status quo insted of making everything so overly dramatic. By going so far overboard they ignored one important factor in a reality show – human nature. They probably assumed Melissa would quietly melt away and accept promises of being the next Bachelorette. Her instincts told her that she was better than that and she stopped playing ball, leaving them to select #3 (Jillian) for the next Bachelorette. Let me ask this – has #3 EVER been chosen before as the next Bachelor/Bachelorette? I really don’t think so.

3.ABC/Fleiss also ignored human nature in regards to the viewers. They incorrectly assumed we wanted to see more drama, but if we wanted this level of cruelty and backstabbing we could watch Big Brother or The Apprentice. We watch TB for the hope of a nice love story. No one wants to see a young woman actually handed her dream of being the “chosen one” only to have it so rudely snatched away with the whole world watching her pain and embarrassment.

But hey, that’s just my opinion. Take from it what you will.

#851 That was very elegantly stated. I agree. ABC may have even wrote the letter for Mel and got her consent to release it.
Some $ probably came with it. I hope it had a lot of zeros, she deserves it!

So good to know before tomorrow night!

If anyone thinks about it, they may feel a little sorry for Jason. I truly believe is in love with being engaged. IMO, he obviously needs a woman with him. Think about it, he splits up from his wife Jan. 08, falls in love with Dee 08, falls in love w/mel 08, falls in love w/mol too 08 (and enjoyed having women falling all over him on the show). I honestly believe he needs a woman with him. He may actually need counseling to find out why he can’t be OK with just him and Ty. Maybe he is that lonely.

I do feel sorry for Ty. Poor little guy, he is trying to figure out why daddy has had 3 different possible step-moms meet him in one year.

Jason, unfortunately is needy. Mel is young and better off in the long run and Mol, well, she may figure that out soon enough.

851 Hellcat– Love your definition that you posted of “scripted”. It helps put it in perspective. You’re exactly right about the ‘crazy girl’ always lasting longer than she should. Trish is a perfect example of that. Yeah, like she just showed up and ambushed the date with no prompting or help from Fleiss and co. Same for DeAnna showing up in NZ. No meddling there at all.

However, Meredith was Bob’s #3, and she was the Bachelorette…

For those interested in a possible explanation as to DeAnna Pappas’ motives in going to NZ, there is an interesting discussion over at FORT with new information. Here’s the link if anyone is interested in following that thread.

In short, D was reportedly paid $10,000 by ABC to come to NZ. Not exactly something you’d expect from someone who only interested in love, eh? I doubted D was there for love and if this is true, here’s another nail of truth for Steve’s story, exactly as he laid it out once again BEFORE it broke. We’ll have to see how things play out next week.

And please Altheria, don’t copy this and put it on your website with a different spin stating Steve was wrong.

Yes Kula…and just like Jason he had been a fan favourite! Remember everyone thought he was so funny and nice and was looking forward to his season because finally the Bachelor was getting more real by having its FIRST divorced Bachelor. What fools we were/are. And then just like Jason he turned into a horn dog and was such a disappointment!

807 – believe it or not there are still people that believe that Jason is a great guy, and will support him no matter what. Check out the comment section on his MySpace account. I have tried to reason with these women for a good part of the day (during breaks from working on a grad school paper) but they are going to keep the blinders on and continue their hero worship – no matter what happens tomorrow night…. it’s pathetic, really.

JPCHICK is right. There are some women who could watch Jason kick puppies and they would still love him. He played the poor single father all alone card well even though it was a sham.

Jason will cry away and some women will think it’s sweet he cares so much even when he dumps her and he’s been cheating with F1. How tacky to break with one and trot out #2 right behind her. He’s desperate.

I’m sure they will try and make it look like Mel know and he’ll talk about how hard he tried to make it work which is crap because two seconds after dumping he’s with someone else.

I am also having pizza so I can sit in front of the TV. Not because I want to see what happens but am wanting to see my mom’s reaction to what happens. She watches the show and she has NO idea what is going to go down. It will be something to see her disbelief on ATFR 1 but she is assuming (correctly) that Deanna wants to get back with Jason.

Interesting that Jascum keeps saying his “lady” is moving to Seattle, but Molly says that she’ll move when things settle down…sounds like she’s backing off already.

Since this was taped just as the financial crisis was hitting, and things have gotten much worse since, maybe she is having second thoughts about giving up her job for this whiny crying wimp. If she isn’t, she should be.

My prediction: She “visits” Seattle, they do some personal appearances to cash in (Jesse’s strategy) and at the end of the 6 month contract period they quietly announce it didn’t work out.

I will watch merely to see Jason and Molly’s attempts at acting, ABC’s spin to somehow reshine their golden boy(ain’t happening for me no matter how many fake man tears I see) I am bracing myself for an editing job that makes Melissa much less likable to the audience. Think about it- that’s really all they could scramble to do after this mess broke- make Melissa look bad and make Jason look more sympathetic to the audience. The fact that Melissa wouldn’t do the 2nd ATFR and put on a happy face probably made that their only option to save face. I can imagine that Fleiss was none to happy one of his puppets wasn’t following orders. She did the right thing- they would have gave her terrible edit either way to save the show. Another reason I will be watching is to take notes of each advertiser who plays commercials and I will be contacting them with my complaints, not ABC. ABC doesn’t give a hoot what we think but the advertisers do care when enough voices complain. Take down this sham of a show and spare us any more public humiliation in the name of money and a scripted outcome. And no I will not watch any Bachelor/ette show again even for Jillian. I will continue to visit here and elsewhere to read but this show is done for me if it happens as RS and many other sources has stated.

Once ABC found out that DeAnna and Jesse had split, they asked her to come to NZ. She didn’t know what her “role” would be. I believe there was a certain level of steering for her to try to give Jason some advice AND to throw it out there that she was available. We’ll have to see the context of what is said in the conversation … which was probably still heavily edited.

  45. MONZIE17

    March 2, 2009 at 7:03 AM

You can’t tell me that an egomaniac like Jason would let go of Melissa … before knowing for sure that Molly would take him!!! We’ve all dated guys like that … so insecure that they have to have a new one on the line before they’ll let go of the old one … basically using the old one for a security blanket until they have the new one hook line and sinker!! SO … that being said, the whore Molly definitely knew before she went on the ATFR1 … she is so fake, why would it be so hard for any of us to believe she could put on a good act during that taping! Ha … they will break up, nothing that is started like this will end good, it never does!

  46. notbuynit

    March 2, 2009 at 7:04 AM

It is very likely that Melissa’s parents will be blamed for the breakup.

Jason will say that he has tried to get them to meet with him but they refuse, and how can he start a new family for himself and Ty if her parents refuse to accpet him.

“Why won’t you fight for me?” Meliisa asks.

“”I have tried,” he responds, “but the battle is over now.”

If this is the reason for the breakup then I believe Jason will be perceived as a sympathetic character. A man who fell in love with a woman but has been rejected by her family.
