Interview #2 with Wes Hayden – Why Wasn’t He at the “Men Tell All”?

Whether or not you like the guy, ABC has made it perfectly clear who the most talked about person this season is about, and its certainly not Jillian. I figured since Wes didn’t get a chance to defend himself on Monday’s “MTA” episode, he could do it right here. If you’d like to hear what he has to say, I suggest you listen to the interview. If you’re sick of him, then don’t listen. I think it’s a pretty telling interview that really covers a lot of what you people have been wanting to know. When Monday’s episode dedicates four different segments of their show to a guy who’s not there, then it’s obvious they had an agenda. Wes wanted to be there, he just wasn’t allowed to. This 35 minute interview is a look at a few things which weren’t discussed the first time around, plus some new information regarding a letter Wes wrote to Jillian that was never shown on TV and some damaging evidence to what Tanner P. has been saying all show. Other topics:
-What has been the reaction from club promoters and bar owners who have scheduled Wes’ band to perform?
-Which guys from the show does Wes keep in touch with?
-What is his reaction to Chris Harrison’s blog from Monday saying Wes only wanted to come on the show after “making sure all the other guys would back him up”?
-If Tanner P. and Wes are boys, why does Tanner keep throwing him under the bus – on the show and at the MTA taping?
-If Jake and Tanner both claim Wes told them about a girlfriend back home, why hasn’t ABC produced one shred of video or audio evidence to these conversations if cameras are rolling all day long and there are microphones everywhere?
-What did the letter he wrote to Jillian in Spain say? Why’d he write it?
-Plus, email questions from you the readers
I felt it was pretty bush league of ABC to not allow the guy on the show Monday only to then turn around and mock the guy for two hours. This is his forum to speak on that issue, plus tell everyone that despite the negativity, he will get through this. I know there are some of you that just want this all to go away, and that’s fine. I feel as an avid critic of this show to make sure all sides are told. Anyone else that wants to speak to me, I’d be more than glad to put them on. But considering outside of Jason Mesnick, this is the most talked about bachelor in recent memory, I felt it was appropriate for him to be able to defend himself. If that makes me a kiss ass, then so be it. Direct your shots at me. I’m a big boy. I can handle it. Hope you enjoy the interview. Click on the link below to listen:

This guy deserves to be heard, miss-use of media… Best of Luck Wes, I hope you succeed in life more so than previously planned.
July 23rd, 2009 at 10:50 AM
Thanks for giving Wes the chance to speak out and tell his side. I wish you the best, Wes with your music! I’d go see you any day…P.S I’m in Houston so let us know when you will be in town!
July 23rd, 2009 at 10:55 AM
Hi RS,
I have been waiting for Wes’ response all week. Despite the fact that I like watching the bachelorette, I was DISGUSTED by how they threw him under the bus, played a total montage about him and the voiceovers that anyone with half a brain could tell were edited to death. You could also tell that when he said ‘first guy ever to make it to the final four with a girlfriend’ he was being sarcastic, and that there was more to follow that sentence, probably something like ‘as if, as if there is any point in doing that to my career – that is career suicide’.
I was also shocked that Jillian didn’t stand up for him more – especially when she got to know him, and got to see the horrible editing job.
As for ABC – it was SO TRANSPARENT what their agenda was. I was embarassed for Chris Harrison and his hand-picked audience (wouldn’t be shocked if they had teleprompters telling them when to cheer and when to boo). Also, I wished I had been there for when he asked if there were any Wes supporters. I would have stood up and said ‘ya nice edit job, maybe Wes was there at first for his CDs, but it was clear that he had feelings for Jillian”. And I am SOOOOOOOOOOO glad you brought it up about Tanner and Jake and their ‘knowledge of the girlfriend’ – where was that footage????? EXACTLY. ABC – should be ashamed of themselves.
This is such a contrived season, if one more bachelor makes a return i’ll be sick. Does anyone remember the Jeremy return? How many guys do you know that get dumped by a girl, only to contrive some sort of reappearance to try and change their mind? Not many.
Well, I hate to say she likely won’t end up happy, how could anyone with ABC pulling the strings this way?
I wish Wes good luck, but I am sure that people will figure it out – this nonsense. Jake/Tanner – pathetic. If Jake was so sure i’m kind of surprised he waited so long to out him? What about his comments on the show (“if i knew about someone having a gf i would say “BAM”) – what a joke.
Good luck Wes, you may be the only ‘real’ one left. Wonder what will happen when Jillian finds out the only one who actually had a GF was ED?????????
July 23rd, 2009 at 10:56 AM
Great interview! Thanks for sharing this with us. It is great to hear his side. Good luck Wes!
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:06 AM
RS Loved the interview and the photo of Wes. Really have nothing else to say other than why oh why does anyone go on this show? Hope things pick up for Wes in spite of his edit.
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:10 AM
Thanks for doing another interview w/ Wes. I’m sure you’ll get plenty of negative comments about this, but just know that there are those of us out there who agree w/ you 100%!
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:20 AM
Another great interview. I am a HUGE Wes fan! My tune on this guy has totally changed. I really appreciate you giving Wes an outlet to tell the truth and say what the real deal is.
Wes does need to be heard. This guy has been trashed by ABC unnecessarily. I feel terrible for him. He comes across as very humble and very honest, despite what ABC might have you believe.
I am really glad you have reached out to Wes and even more glad that he’s opened up to you. I dont blame you for hanging out with him. He seems like a very nice guy! I would love to see one of his shows when he comes to Dallas.
it was sad to hear him say he’s a little shy/reserved when people approach him b/c he doesnt know if they’ll be nice or mean. How sad. I hope that if any RS fans meet Wes, they are nothing but kind. Wes deserves that.
This poor guy has been though complete hell. Wes, I hope you end up being a huge success. I have a feeling you will.
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:30 AM
I’m so glad that Wes mentioned that other guys stood to benefit from the publicity they were getting on the show. Wineries, Realtors, Pizza restaurants will all get more business because people will want to check out the cute guy on the Bachelor. Why is being a musician any different? I hate injustice and this was just stupid.
It was also obvious that the guys and Jillian were coached on The Men Tell All. They ALL know what it’s like to be edited and anyone who made comments on things Wes said (the things that were shown on TV, that is) know better than anyone how things are manipulated, so it was clearly BS.
Wes, I’m not a country music fan, but you have a great voice and are great looking, so I have no fears for you. Just know that not everyone who watches these shows are sheep and dummies!
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:58 AM
That was an excellent interview. I have family in Dallas. Wes sounds exactly like my nephews. They speak the same way. It’s not a put on. Mostly all of them begin their sentences with “Hell, etc…. It’s just Texas. I wish this guy the best. You’ve heard the saying – “you can’t fight City Hall”???? Well I hope RS and WES continue fighting city hall. ABC is just wrong in this matter. This B.S. is costing this guy money. Thats W R O N G!
Good Job – RS – keep it up
Good Luck Wes and I do hope Jillian does in touch with you.
What a shame….
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:59 AM
Sorry. He needs to hang it up, dawg. If you support him, slap down that plastic and buy his CD. Dave got a “bad” edit and then got to the MTA and, I guess, proved it true (unless, of course, they edited all of his stupid, cocky remarks then too). Cute Michael sings and plays the guitar and models. Pizza boy got a quiet edit but totally clowned on the MTA. Did he pimp his local pizza shop(s)? What’s it called and where is it? Did Reid pimp his family business? Yes, everyone who goes on will get added exposure and FANS will probably hunt down where they work and if they like them, give business or not. Wes was trying to launch a career. He knew it. He told everybody and ABC chose not to let themselves be used that way. Yes,they used every phrase he said. That’s how the edit works and, unless he’s “slow,” he should have expected that. Had he toned some of his cockiness, maybe he wouldn’t have gotten such a bad “edit.” But he was the gift that kept on giving and ABC would have been “crazy” not to have taken advantage of what he gave them. He got the edit he handed them on a silver platter. Sorry, not buying his sad, sorry song. Sounds like he’s been using the sympathy card a lot longer than he’s had CDs. If it wasn’t ABC, he be blaming someone else for his lackluster career. Maybe he’s just not unique enough to stand out and going on a show to use a woman didn’t help him. It shouldn’t have.
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:00 PM
I’m loving all the postive comments on this blog. Oh, and could you have picked a sexier picture of Wes? Yummy!
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:04 PM
I must admit I do enjoy reading your blog. I completely understand that Wes has been edited and I definitely do not agree with the way he has been treated. I do not agree with you that he is completely innocent, but that is ok. My guess from listening to his interviews and others is that he said to a couple of the guys that he had a girl back home, although he probably did not. He was just trying to sound cool in front of them. Definitely silly of him to do, but I don’t condemn him for it like many others do. But, I am curious why you will give him the out of being edited, but you take things other people say very seriously without taking into consideration that they may have been edited??
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:20 PM
gurl, i feel sorry for you if you really feel that way. ABC has not produced one piece of evidence that Wes said to any of the guys that he had a girlfriend.
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:20 PM
gurl, he has had a very nice career so far.
July 23rd, 2009 at 12:26 PM
More than one guy said that he said he had a girlfriend. If he was lying/trying to look like the opposite of Juan, you see where that got him. He’s too old to succumb to peer pressure like a high school student. AND, if his career were all that hot, he wouldn’t have needed the show. Even Jillian said that. If Wes had a hard life and some challenges growing up, he can join the club with millions of others. ABC was not about to give him a free ride to become a big country star. His agent steered him wrong. There are far better ways to make it. Going on a competitive dating show that is SUPPOSED to be about love saying that you aren’t there for the girl wasn’t wise. CMT has some shows, I think he needs to take his act to them. I’m not a big country music fan either way so it’s no skin off of my teeth if he makes it or not. I wouldn’t be purchasing even if I did think he could sing.
July 23rd, 2009 at 1:01 PM
Where is the PROOF that he told those guys he had a girlfriend? You are simply taking one guys word over another. Why are you deciding the Wes is the liar and Jake/Tanner are telling the truth?
Did you not hear that Tanner admitted to Wes (who has it recorded on his cell phone) that ABC told Tanner to play along with the “Wes has a girlfriend” story? Did you not hear that part of the interview?
He did not go on this show to gain fame. That’s not why he did it.
how did you feel about Andrew Firestone coming on the show? If their wineries were so successful, Andrew wouldnt have “needed the show”.
Your logic is so flawed.
July 23rd, 2009 at 1:02 PM
Did you even bother to listen to what WEs had to say? By your current posts, it doesnt seem like you did.
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:09 PM
RS, thanks for yet another telling interview. I’ve been reading your blog since Jason’s season and I applaud you for outing ABC’s antics. It’s pretty ridiculous how far they’ll go for the sake of ratings. As for the Men Tell All, that pretty much nailed it in the coffin for me. I always thought Chris Harrison was a bit of douche, but this past Monday’s show raised his douchiness to a whole new level!
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:11 PM
I don’t know what difference it makes if he did have a girlfriend or not. Haven’t several people on these shows had girlfriends or boyfriends? In fact they wind up back with them after the show is over. I don’t think that’s why people were angry at him, it was the things he said that got people riled up and the way he said them. And they were edited out of context no doubt, but the words came out of his mouth. Ed’s girlfriends are the ones I am wondering about, since he is in the Final Two.
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:12 PM
I have to say that this interview was excellent and enlightening. Terrific job Steve. Up until this point, I have to say that I wasn’t on the Wes bandwagon and just took at face value what the show was showing us. However, after listening to Wes, I do think in the very least if ABC is going to continue to trash him as they have, they should have given him the opportunity to respond and be on the Men Tell All. Obviously the Bachelor producers were trying to create a story line and character and knowing what Wes would say (from what they had heard in say in other interviews), it brings into question whether or not Wes was accurately portrayed.
With that said, I DO believe that where there is smoke, there is fire and Wes had to have said SOMETHING that led a couple of the guys to believe he had a girlfriend. However, Jillian weighed the information and made her choice and moved on. I don’t think it’s fair that ABC trashed him on the Men Tell All, without giving him the opportunity(that he ultimately wanted) to respond. I can understand that it took some time to decide if he should appear at the show or not in light of what was happening. It is also sad that it has gone so far as to impact his career and Wes is smart to continue doing interviews to share his side as my thoughts about him have changed for the better. Although, Wes made the decision to do the show and knew everything he said and did could impact him professionally but I’m sure he never anticipated that ABC would ultimately trash him when he gave his side.
Hang in there Wes and keep telling your side.
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:14 PM
I enjoy Steve’s comments about the shows and gotten many a smile. However, I think he is doing a real service by pointing out what is really going on with these shows. A case in point is this situation with Wes. I am glad that Steve has shown the gross abuse of viewers’ trust and believabity let alone has helped someone like Wes have a forum to give his side. The way that ABC manipulated the edits and how he was maligned on the Men Tell All segment deserves to be shown the light of day. I think the show has taken a mean turn and I feel sorry for anyone who considers going on it. The fact that Wes has lost singing engagements because of the show is a sad testament to what this show can do to someone financially…not to mention how one’s character can be ruined. I’m glad that Steve has brought all of this to light. I hope he gets picked up by a major network a la Entertainment Tonight with him giving a segment so he can make some of these shows have to be more responsible. Good going, Steve. P.S. I tried to e-mail you but I don’t see anywhere that I can do that on this site.
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:24 PM
Hey Steve, Thanks for this interview, I feel sorry for the negative publicity that Wes has had from this. And I liked the fact that you gave a briefing of his schedule at the end of the interview. kinda take a pot shot at ABC.
was a great interview. Thanks!!!!
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:31 PM
Great interview, Steve.
I think they are keeping the heat on Wes to try and take it away from all the crap that is coming out about Ed.
This series just needs to be done, finished…for good.
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:52 PM
Another great interview Steve. Wes, I hope you read these comments too–there are so many people out there who support you and your talent.
The MTA was a complete joke. I wish ABC gave its viewership a little more credit. Could Chris have been any more transparent?! Oh God, that was utterly painful to watch…like a trainwreck. I didn’t mind Chris Harrison so much before that show…but WOW. He acted like the dweeby older guy trying really hard to be cool with the obnoxious frat guys. Poor Jillian! Of all the great single men in this country, she has THEM to choose from?! My God, I hope for HER sake she leaves empty handed!!
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:53 PM
PS–Ed is coming off kinda shady. I’m still dying to hear more details about him.
July 23rd, 2009 at 2:58 PM
Boy, Wes is sure getting alot more than his “15 minutes of fame” out of this. Again, no one cares if Wes has a girlfriend or not, his agenda is so clear, he is still pushing himself and his career. Boo Hoo. Lucky for Wes that they butchered his edit or he wouldn’t have had the opportunity to promote his agenda so vigorously. I am starting to think that this is also part of the evil plan master minded by ABC. Maybe Wes will appear on Dancing with the Stars next season. For the sake of this post, I will back off the man-crush thing, but did anyone else notice that Steve did all the talking and Wes just said, “Well, yeah, er, uh and exactly” Steve, let me know when you are going to discuss something interesting, this subject makes the Molly and Jason sound exciting!!!
July 23rd, 2009 at 3:10 PM
I am sorry but he had an agenda. The only reason he is doind these interviews with Steve is because he is losing GIGS now. He even said it himself so of course he wants to try to save face.No matter what he said I dont think it was all editing. Hes a shady character and alot of people arent buying his pity party now.
July 23rd, 2009 at 3:15 PM
I have no admiration whatever for the Bachelor producers after their obvious set-up of Melissa on ATFR, so don’t take what I’m about to say the wrong way. But I am wondering if they might have refused Wes an appearance on MTA because Wes’s change of heart about appearing on the show came after his interview with Steve. I suppose it’s possible that some of the things Wes said to Steve might be viewed by ABC as a breach of contract. If that’s how they see it, then continuing to do business with him (by allowing him to appear on MTA) could be taken as their forgiveness of a contract violation, and that’s probably not a precedent they’d want to set.
The other thing that’s got me wondering is that ABC used the same clips on MTA that Wes told Steve had been either doctored (by splicing together words from unrelated comments he’d made), edited, or used out of context. But if that were true, wouldn’t the network’s better move have been to back off and not mention his name at all on MTA? Or, as they did with Melissa, offer her other opportunities? Instead they came at Wes twice as hard by re-running those clips. Couldn’t that suggest the network feels it’s on very solid ground in its dealings with him?
Like I said, this is just me speculating and I’m not a lawyer. Any lawyers out there?
July 23rd, 2009 at 3:19 PM
There’s been a lingering question since the hometown show when Jake showed up. When Jillian told Wes on the couch that someone had told her he had a girlfriend, the first thing Wes said was, “was it one of the guys in my band who said that?”. Why would that even come into his mind that they knew something to tell her?
July 23rd, 2009 at 3:23 PM
ok – here is the deal – I AGREE that they should not have taken that much time to rip him apart without him there to defend himself. HOWEVER – WHO CARES???? Wes got a horrible EDIT – I am sure others did too – GET OVER IT! You said in your interview something like “and now people feel this negativity towards you based on 8 episodes of a reality TV show.” HE went on a REALITY TV show. PERIOD! What the hell do you expect?!!? And guess what – Wes is old news now. Get on with it… he is off the show and now the MTA is over – it’s over – God Bless America. WHO CARES IF HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND or DIDN’T! I am so through with you harping on this! AH! I have so much more to say, but I digress. I am doing what I am telling you to stop doing – harping on the same crap. But, this is the last point – GET ON WITH IT!!!!!! WHO CARES!!!!!!! it’s a freakin’ REALITY TV SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Who cares if they don’t have EVIDENCE – ugh, I am getting all worked up again. IT’S NOT REAL!!!!!!!
July 23rd, 2009 at 3:30 PM
THANK YOU!!!!!! I have NO sympathy for people that go on this show..it’s been around for 14 seasons…by now you should know that you will get edited however ABC wants you to get edited..get over it and if you are going to bitch and moan about it for months then here’s a hint..DONT GO ON THE SHOW!!!! Not that difficult
July 23rd, 2009 at 3:48 PM
And I don’t know how he wouldn’t have known an unreal edit was coming of some sort. Laurel, his friend, had dated Brad Womack and she dated another person from a Bachelorette show. I’m sure she must have mentioned how the show worked, she could have even warned him not to go on there. He said he wasn’t even familiar with the show, how could that be with that connection there? I do agree, get on with your life, Wes! Try to make the best use of any publicity you got. Take the lemons and make a lemonade out it. I’m sure Wes would have a better reaction from people if he stopped being defensive and just laughed it off and called himself Wes the Heartbreak Kid or something, wear a black hat, and play up being “the bad guy” as a stage persona. Run with it, dude.
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:15 PM
…People, he KNEW what he was getting in to when he agreed to do the show!!!!
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:21 PM
even if Wes knew what eh was getting into, just honestly tell me if over the past 17? seasons you have seen someone get butchered like wes has been.
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:36 PM
After listening to the second interview with Wes, my feelings are pretty much the same as they were after I listened to the first interview. I still think that the truth about Wes is somewhere in between. He’s not a monster and not a saint. I still believe that he did go on the show to promote his career. I am not going to condemn him for it, because I think others have done the same throughout the seasons of this show. I do believe that he got a terrible edit, but I also believe that at some point he has to take some personal responsibility here. Wes shot his mouth off without thinking. That’s not a smart thing to do when you are on national TV. He gave ABC the ammunition and they used it in the worst way possible. Wes needs to learn to think before he speaks and choose his words more carefully. That’s just a smarter way to go through life. I have learned that lesson myself, only it wasn’t while I was being watched by millions of viewers on a reality TV show. Hopefully, he does learn something from it. Wes isn’t a total victim in this scenario. If he doesn’t realize that he is somewhat responsible for what he said in the first place, then it’s too bad for him.
Jillian did make some very nice comments about Wes on an interview posted on BuddyTV. But she also said that Wes should choose his words more carefully. I think that’s good advice and I hope Wes listens. My feeling is that Jillian liked Wes and kept him on because she did see his good side and found him attractive. We never got to see that side of Wes. With this interview, now we have. He’s not a terrible person. Jillian even admitted to downloading his cd. She really does love his music. I don’t wish anything bad on Wes. I think he has suffered enough and people should let him be. It’s a waste of energy to hate someone you don’t know and who hasn’t hurt you personally. Now Wes has had a chance to have his say and hopefully, we can move on.
That includes you, Steve. You were nice enough to give Wes an opportunity to clear his name and stand up for himself. Now it would be nice to move on.
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:55 PM
Do you think ANYONE would go on this show knowing full well everything they say is going to be edited and twisted? Of course not.
Wes bashers…move on. You guys are really annoying.
July 23rd, 2009 at 4:56 PM
And I disagree w/ everyone who says “it’s time to move on”.
Why? This is THE biggest story to come out of all these seasons. He has blown the whistle on ABC and now the world knows what a farce this dumb show is.
I find the behind the scene info from Wes facsinating. I hope RS keep interviewing him. He’s worth listening to.
July 23rd, 2009 at 5:09 PM
Thanks for giving Wes a chance to defend himself. ABC really thinks they’re slick, it’s sad. So Tanner was told to say that at the MTA, was he also told to make the story up to begin with? You didn’t ask him that. I don’t get why Tanner would throw his friend under the bus like that. I wish you would have Tanner on now so he could tell what happened. Oh well, bottom line is Wes comes across as a sincere guy and I wish him the best of luck and hope this thing will disappear soon. And I am glad he is standing up to ABC. I love that picture of Wes too that you put up.
July 23rd, 2009 at 5:16 PM
I am shocked that people keep saying “Move on” and “Wes got what he deserved with that edit” !! Sad.
We all agree going on this show was a mistake on his part (and his manager’s), but this could potentially RUIN him and his future in the music business…and his reputation in general! It’s one thing to come off as annoying, or stupid, or giggly or other ways that the cast has been portrayed. But Wes was edited to look like all the worst things a person could be—a liar, gutless, calculating, manipulative, and a user. This is his life and his career and his reputation. It’s more than being a reality show. And face it, if he were ALL of those things they made him out to be, don’t you think he’d be smart enough to hide it?! Get a clue and be SLIGHTLY sympathetic to this guy. No one would have willingly walked into a situation like that.
That said, what is worse? Being edited to look like you’re a manipulative liar or a guy with erectial dysfunction?! Ed probably isn’t too happy with the way that came off. But if he really had a gf, well, karma is a b****!
RS–If you have insights on the next Bachelor, let us know! Please don’t let it be Jake!
July 23rd, 2009 at 5:19 PM
Here’s Wes on youtube explaining himself. In the clip he calls Tanner P. on the phone and puts him on speaker and Tanner says the producers told him to stick w/ the “girlfriend” story. Take a listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDjAtDIngik
July 23rd, 2009 at 5:22 PM
I dont hate or love Wes. I dont really care. Like I donr really care for any of the other guys or Jillian either. They are just there to entertain you. I feel bad he got the short end of the stick with the editing. But that is something anybody with a brain could see even before Steve commented on it. It was so obvious, at least for me. But in the end, everybody who signed up for this show didnt just do it to “meet a girl and possibly start a relationship”. Everybody had an ulterior motive. Even Wes said he didnt know anything about Jillian until a couple of days before they started shooting. So did he just sign up to meet some random girl on national TV? Dont think so. But I dont blame him for it. He can do whatever he can do with his life.
But the point I wanted to get to is, everything is fake. Even Jillian. She was just sitting there at the MTA watching all of the supposedly bad comments Wes was saying and she never thought: ” hey, wait a minute. I am here looking for love and the producers supposedly know that this guy is here for the wrong reasons and they are not saying anything to me?”.
Hmmmm
July 23rd, 2009 at 5:35 PM
I think it was because none of the bachelors were in his home town. I noticed that too but he seemed baffled, like he couldn’t figure out what she was talking about and who could have said it. I wondered why Jake would say “her name is Laurel and he’s going to tell you that she’s an ex and they are just friends”. Then Wes came out with the exact words. Maybe that was what he told Jake. “I had a girlfriend”. I went back and looked at the tapes and there were a couple of times when the girl friend thing came up and Jake seemed like he didn’t know anything not like Tanner who actually said Wes told him. But at the MTA Tanner said, “when Jake told me Wes had a girl friend”. I really don’t think it matters one way or the other. In one of Jillians interviews she said it didn’t matter and if he fell for her he could just call the old girlfriend and tell her. @Teresa
July 23rd, 2009 at 6:18 PM
Thank you Steve for reporting the truth. I was so ashamed that I even watched the MTA episode. ABC treated Wes really bad and I just hope that people realized it. I thought it was very obvious that everything was edited. When I watched the shows, you could just tell that something was just not right with how the words came out. Even in MTA you could tell that there were just clips spliced together. They cut people off if they tried to take up for Wes. Anyway thanks to you hopefully some people will be enlightened and not always believe everything they see on TV.
July 23rd, 2009 at 6:39 PM
After last season, is anyone surprised. It’s not like this genre is new. People in their late 20s/early 30s have grown up watching or at least being aware of how things can get twisted. He wasn’t born last night, remember … or was that someone else’s voice dubbed in over his? People have been complaining about the way they were “portrayed” since the very first Real World on MTV in 1990. So, I’m sorry he got “edited” to be an opportunistic, womanizing user but when you sign a contract that says they can present you however they like, you kind of have to roll with the punches. Remember that show/movie Fame? One of the most famous quotes was “You’ve got big dreams? You want fame? Well, fame costs …”
Wes probably found that out, huh? But, got to promote his CDs, sing his new single and perform with his band on a dating show where the woman really seemed to be falling for him (unless of course she was in on the grand conspiracy to ruin his career too)… He got some of what he wanted but he paid a price. Maybe he should write a song about it.
July 23rd, 2009 at 7:50 PM
Steve, thanks for the 2nd interview. I think it is interesting how Jillian’s position on Wes changed from interview to MTA. This show is so scripted and producer directed. I wish him well. As many former bachelors and bach’etts know, this too shall pass.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:02 PM
The MTA was just seeing the same stuff over and over and over again. There was not substance to the questions and Jillian not only did not look very appealing, she had no rapport with anyone there. The only one who did not seem pathetic to me was Michael. Chris Harrison sounded like he was trying to be everyone’s best friend and he sounded ridiculous. The episode lowered the bar even further.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:11 PM
This is a TV show for God sakes! Steve please stop trying to be an investigative reporter becasue we just don’t care.
Anybody who goes on as how like this is a fool to begin with and then when they act like an ass they are an even bigger fool.
Wes, you f–cked up, dude. Now go away PLEASE!
I am begging you Steve, go back to being funny. This crusade is getting old.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:21 PM
If you sell your soul to the devil you can’t complain about how hot hell is later, signing that Bachelorette contract sold himself.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:41 PM
Thanks Steve…you rock.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:41 PM
LOL, today all over the message boards it says Jake is the next Bachelor and they are already interviewing Bachelorettes for the show. That would explain why they definitely wanted Tanner to back up Jake’s story on the MTA. And also why a huge confrontation where Jake got called out by Wes for lying or whatever would not be in their best interests. They want a sparkly clean bachelor you know.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:43 PM
Wes went on the show to promote his career. He has admitted that. Now thanks to TB and his BFF Steve he has gone from a total unknown to a celebrity. He is about 14 minutes into his fame cycle and RS is trying to help him stretch it out a little longer.
The sad thing is that Wes caused Steve to ruin a perfectly good website. No bad edit there, just the truth!
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:45 PM
Barf…I really hope the next bachelor is not Jake.
July 23rd, 2009 at 8:47 PM
Me, too, I can’t stand the thought of Jake being the next Bachelor. That will end my watching for sure. No wonder they wanted Jake to rush back and tell Jillian about Wes, he looked like the hero, the knight on the white horse and all that. What a perfect drama, the good guy and the bad guy. (I’m not rooting for any of them, it’s just so funny).
July 23rd, 2009 at 9:12 PM
sjcaligurl and surrealfan – great points. You both said it well. Enough about Wes. Move on. ABC has. ABC didn’t spend nearly as much time on Wes as Wes and Steve seem to think during the MTA. The show was hilarious and that was the parts that didn’t include Wes. I also wondered about the statement Wes made on the hometown date after Jillian tells him she heard he had a g/f… did one of my band members say that? Now why would he think that unless one of them knew something. But really, who cares? RS, you’re probably a good guy, but you’ve gotten totally sucked into this and I have a feeling a year from now, you’re going to be thinking why did I get so worked up? The ratings have gone up because of this. People watch it for entertainment. Wes has definitely been entertainment. I don’t think ABC is worried about Wes. All Wes’s rants and raves is just blah blah blah. People see what they want to see.
July 23rd, 2009 at 9:31 PM
Funny.Read your update on Monday, not many positive posts, people so sick of the Steve man love of Wes…now it is thank you?yup ok did some posts disappear, anyway I said this long ago,you are in a position I might say”up shit creek without a paddle”those that loved your updates, for the humour think you compromised your self,as one person put it talking out of both sides of your mouth.I guess you are going to have to decide what is more important, your fan base,or well, if you are going to skewer people, don’t get to know them, then you have nothing to write…but what do I know,I am Canadian and see it all the time, yes we make fun of those we like,it is called humour.PS example of what is not,Milk in bags, who’s fridge were you looking in? The last time I looked in mine,it looked like a carton to me,oh but the sin,not Quart or half gallon,it did say one litre,or two litre.Oh well I still like ya.
July 23rd, 2009 at 9:39 PM
I really don’t understand why some of you get so worked up about what RS writes in his blog. If you don’t like it anymore, you don’t have to read it. If he wants to talk about Wes and interview him and help him defend himself, then why does it bother you so much? Get over it and move on. Isn’t a blog about your feelings/thoughts? Then let him write what he wants and you can write your own blog, if you think you can do better.
July 23rd, 2009 at 9:48 PM
@stephlk74b
I think you need to take a chill pill… or 2. What is your problem?
July 23rd, 2009 at 10:49 PM
Once again the interview with Wes included mostly RS talking and Wes agreeing. I wouldn’t even call it an interview – I’m not sure what I’d call it. RS seemed to be working really hard to defend and speak for Wes. I just don’t get it….disappointed.
July 23rd, 2009 at 11:37 PM
If you were refering to me I have no problem,I don’t mind Wes at all heard the interview, and for the Steve blog,Somethings I find funny some I don’t I am a big girl,I can take it.The point I was making was, maybe he is up that creek without the paddle.I was reading the comments on the MTA update and they were not pretty, because his fan base came looking for humour and got, well, more of a lecture of how they can edit people, which anyone in their right mind can see,I was just expressing a view,I just thought he put himself in a hard position that is all, example…Jilly in her Bikini does nothing for him, fine fair statement, but when he says”I don’t like her.”I don’t like her, well if Wes was misrepresented, how did he not think his take on Jilly was not too,it just does not seem fair.Hey I am not getting on anybody, but what is Steve going to do now, dish somebody, knowing it could be just the edit.Sometime you just got to stick with the humour.
July 24th, 2009 at 12:33 AM
Hey Mich, RS is here to blog. He wants comments. We’re here to comment. We read it for entertainment. Those that are really sick of it have stopped reading. I still find it entertaining, especially to read what people write that shows we could be watching two totally separate shows. We see what we want to see, including Steve. I’m sure Steve and Wes are probably ok guys. Wes is milking this for everything he can. He said he had gigs cancelled. He probably got just as many from the publicity.
July 24th, 2009 at 12:36 AM
Aside from Laurel knowing about how the show works, so does Jeremy who is friends with Wes. Your telling me that Wes never watched his buddy on the show??? Or Laurel never talked to him about Brad’s aftermath??? Although I think he should have been leary of going onto a reality show in the first place, there has never been a nastier edit job than this! I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, but they sure did a number on him and they’ve made a mockery of themselves as well as Wes.
July 24th, 2009 at 1:44 AM
@cubbieblue Kristin
This video made me laugh!
July 24th, 2009 at 2:02 AM
Ok so many posts here. I don’t care who she chooses, probably Ed. I just hope the “toolboy” isn’t the next bach. After Wes this will be so black and white. “Jake” Big mistake. They will go to far here and Stevie is probably hoping. They will open the “Grand Canyon” with this one. i.e. They didn’t produce that Kriptonyte promo for nothing. He better shine next week or those abs will be sold on “Hollywood and Vine”
July 24th, 2009 at 2:10 AM
Steve, are you by chance “Feces Hurling Monkey” on the ABC board. The poor man is banned constantly but finds a new banana tree everytime. I will be comforted if this is you. I am a snarky poster on there and try to evoke “The RS Blog” when I can.
July 24th, 2009 at 7:59 AM
dfwgirl, I actually was referring to the people that write in capital letters as if they are shouting out to the world and just get completely worked up about it. Opinions are one thing, but I can’t understand why anyone would get so worked up.
Here’s an example of what I meant:
“WHO CARES IF HE HAD A GIRLFRIEND or DIDN’T! IT’S NOT REAL!!!!!!!”
July 24th, 2009 at 8:14 AM
For those of you who are STILL BITCHING, why are you here? Go away! Your constant negativity and rude comments are tired already. Steve, I loved your interview and look forward to hearing more from Wes. He’s got alot to share….
July 24th, 2009 at 9:04 AM
@Mich
Mich – and the other “why are still here” people – you are obviously people who are dead set on busting up reality TV. If you really have issues with it – DON’T WATCH IT (those caps are for Mich). I watch it because it’s entertaining and Steve used to be hilarious in his recaps because we all knew it was crap TV and it was fun to make fun of the “characters.” I was one of the old school Reality Steve followers who would get e-mail updates and laugh my ass off. Now, I get to come and read a bunch of crap about how TV is fake. (again, for you Mich) OF COURSE IT IS, IT’S ENTERTAINMENT!
July 24th, 2009 at 9:10 AM
Just listened to the Wes interview a second time. Here is a synopsis:
RS: Wes you really got a bad edit didn’t you?
WEs; Yup
RS: They blindsided you didn’t they?
Wes; Yup
RS: You are really a great guy aren’t you?
Wes: Yup
RS: Chris Harrison ids a real Dick isn’t he?
Wes: Yup
RS: Your band is great
Wes: Yup
RS: Here is a list of your shows and your website. Everybody should give you money
Wes: Yup
Great journalism Steve…you’re a real pro!
July 24th, 2009 at 9:53 AM
I’m actually not dead set on busting up reality TV. I do watch it for entertainment only. But these people that go on these shows are real people and I’m sure most of them don’t realize to the full extent what they are getting themselves into. So maybe they made a mistake by signing up to the show. Everyone makes mistakes and hopefully they learn from them. Not everybody knows that Wes was edited the way he was or how he could have been or realize that the show is fake. I had this discussion with a friend the other night and she said Wes was scum and that he really said everything they showed and that is exactly the person he is. So it’s good that he has the chance to defend himself for the people to see what he is really like outside of the fake TV show. I’m sure others are definately edited too, but if they wanted to defend themselves, they could do the same thing as Wes and do just that.
July 24th, 2009 at 10:00 AM
thanks lithargic for saving me 35 minutes of my life! good one!
July 24th, 2009 at 11:29 AM
Sorry did not listen to this—this story has been beat to poo and it wasn’t all that breaking or shocking of a story to begin with.
I did read in Us Weekly that ABC is looking at Michael and his twin as being the bachelors next season which I could see cause they’ve never done something like that before–its more creative than Jake the pilot/ bad actor/”nice guy” who would never carry a season. Except I think they may be borrowing the concept from VH1–Real Chance of Love ring a bell–so perhaps its not so original…I’ll only watch if the bachelorettes compete in weekly break dancing competitions to determine which twin sends girls home. when you are getting your show concepts from VH1–you know you’ve jumped the shark–but I do love my trashy VH1 shows every now and then….
Oh and some other news–I live in Chicago and one of the radio stations has an interview with Jillian on Monday which I find a little curious–I’ll be interested to know if she is also doing one with wherever Kiptyon is from. Regardless, I think she chooses Ed and that the radio station will then have both of them on the next day….
July 24th, 2009 at 11:49 AM
Great interview Steve (and cute photo of Wes)! Okay, so most of us agree that he got a really bad and edit and that’s not fair. Thanks to RS and others, the word is getting out. I think the end result of all this negative attention has and will continue to bring him supporters and good publicity. I listened to the youtube link above and then to “It Don’t Take That Long,” and the song is good! I believe Wes has his faults, but now I am a fan and wish him the best.
July 24th, 2009 at 11:50 AM
Just listened to this interview, and all I can say is LMAO!
Obviously scripted in advance based on the “where can we see you, what about video’s etc”. Also loved his response…oh on You Tube, blah blah blah.
And poor Wes, lost 5 gigs for a total of 30k?? Personally, or is that how much he makes to be split with each member of his band..if so, he’s a loser.
Listen up people..he admits to talking to the guys all the time…do you honestly believe he didn’t ask how many of them would stick up for him? As for Tanner admitting he just did what the producers told him to say at the MTA, maybe Tanner DID tell Wes that…all that shows is Tanner is not one to take resonsibility for his own actions/words. If he was such a Wes fan…stay home Tanner!!
I love the fact that this man went on TV to make a name for himself is actually doing worse than when he started…AMEN…what goes around comes around.
Didn’t matter if you did or did not have a girlfriend at home…fact is you went on the show for the wrong reason. I’m sure you’re not the only one who did either. As for why they chose you to vilify-that’s easy…you are an easy target cause you know why you were on there in the first place.
Is it possible Jake lied about you? Yep, sure is…but if it walks like a duck, talks like a duck…well you get the point.
And btw, Jake is nothing to write home about either…I think he wants to be the next boring Bachelor and he’s no prize…how much money do you think a Captain of a Regional Airline makes?? In the 30 grand area if lucky. Not bad but not rich compared to what the other Bachelor’s had.
Just remember this last comment which I’ll repeat…this interview with Wes was obviously scripted ahead of time by the two of them based on RS’s leading questions….yet he criticizes ABC for their editing!! It’s rich I tell ya…and laughable.
ABC is phony, but RS commenting on it is like the pot calling the kettle black!!
July 24th, 2009 at 11:55 AM
so now we’re finding out that Jake once played a young Chuck Norris on Walker, Texas Ranger? hehe, well, if we look at Jake’s heaving sobs at the balcony rail scene on the Bachelor, we get an idea of why it’s been such a long time between acting jobs for him. Yo, Wes–Jake’s not one pancake short of a stack–he’s just a bad actor and an aspiring entertainer, just like you and a zillion other people the producers book for the show. Steve may be leaning a little too favorably toward Wes being the be-all and end-all of honesty, but Steve’s point that this show is not real is right on target.
July 24th, 2009 at 11:56 AM
Brozne……get lost. Your post is ridiculous.
July 24th, 2009 at 11:59 AM
I just wanted to say a couple things that have been bothering me. I find it hard to believe that Wes did not know anything about the show before hand. The girl that he previously dated (Laurel) had a connection with at least two previous bachelors/participants and then Wes also goes on the show. It definitely sounds a little odd that Wes is using producers from the show to help with his video. Aren’t these the same producers that gave him the edit job??!! Maybe they are both getting what they need from this show.
July 24th, 2009 at 1:05 PM
Ok – how do we get hottie Wes up to MA for a show? Seriously who cares what the guy says – he is YUMMY! Its all for entertainment people and those of you who come on here to trash steve, its his website people if you are going through the trouble of posting just to trash him you really don’t have a leg to stand on. Steve you are awesome and I am a longtime fan and think your better than ever… and again Wes is so freakin’ hot in that picture…..
July 24th, 2009 at 1:24 PM
For the second week in a row, it appears RS is not going to deliver on his promised “Reality Roundup” or his predictions/information about the show itself. I have continued to come here the last couple weeks in the hopes that eventually things will return to normal. But now I’m done. I’m so sick of hearing about Wes. I don’t care about him one way or the other. Yes, he was edited badly. But yes, just like all the others that RS makes fun of, he signed up for this. He’s yesterday’s news at this point.
Of course RS has the right to do whatever he wants with his blog. I just wanted to add my 2 cents that I no longer find it interesting, and he’s lost another loyal reader.
July 24th, 2009 at 1:40 PM
I guess some of you dont get it. Wes is blowing this show to bits. This is GREAT! ABC has been doing this to people for years, and finally someone has the nuts to call them on it. I love it! Wes, keep talking honey! I want to hear more.
All of you guys who are so irritated with RS and his friendship with Wes – truly…..get a life. Why do you care? Wes seems like a very nice guy.
But the fact remains that he’s the first person in the history of this show to call a spade a spade – and I’m so happy he’s talking.
July 24th, 2009 at 2:20 PM
Wes dated Laurel who used to date Brad who got a horrible edit from ABC. Remember after the whole MeYawna fallout Brad was pretty bitter with ABC. Jeremy didn’t exactly get a bright shiny edit from ABC either. Wes knows both these people very well yet Wes is completely blindsided by all this. Come on, really? No clue whatsoever? I’m not buying it.
Steve, you’re starting to remind me of Ronnie from BB11. I hope there’s someone else out there who is as funny as you used to be who doesn’t have his head completely up Jeremy, Wes and MeYawna’s asses.
July 24th, 2009 at 2:23 PM
@MegD55
MegD, I live in Chicago too. Which radio station was it? The mix? Do you know if it’s up on their website as I would like to listen to it. thanks!
July 24th, 2009 at 2:26 PM
My first comment didn’t post so let me try again. Sorry if these becomes redundant. We should be pretty used to that by now on this site.
Wes dated Laurel who used to date Brad who got a horrible edit from ABC after the whole MeYawna cries her crocodile tears fallout. Wes is friends with Jeremy who also didn’t come out smelling like a rose thanks to ABC. But we’re supposed to believe Wes was absolutely blindsided by all this. No clue whatsoever? I’m not buying it.
Steve, you’re starting to remind me of Ronnie from BB11. I hope there’s another blogger out there who is as funny as you used to be who doesn’t have his head completely up Wes, Jeremy and MeYawna’s asses.
July 24th, 2009 at 2:52 PM
Steve, do you have any info on Ed being banned from a bar in Chicago?Just wondering if you can confirm this story with your sources as well. The more I hear about this guy the more I think Wes got the bad edit that Ed deserved.
July 24th, 2009 at 3:17 PM
Right on Jordon.
July 24th, 2009 at 3:26 PM
Are we getting a Reality Round up today or not??
July 24th, 2009 at 3:40 PM
@Mich
I get what you are saying and I agree to a certain extent. But, I am sorry, anyone who signs up to be a on Reality TV show in the year 2009 has to know that it is not a good idea. I agree with you, everyone makes mistakes and I completely agree that Wes probably did get a horrible edit. I also think it’s a load of crap that people who don’t read these blogs don’t know that he is out there defending himself. Most of my facebook friends who watch the show post about how much they don’t like him. I think it is wrong.
My problem is this – it is wrong and the show is wrong, but it is entertainment and that is all I am saying. I wish I would have kept some of the old e-mails he used to send. I am telling you – it was some of the funniest stuff I have ever read. I would work through lunch to read it because I knew I would be laughing out loud. Now, I can read it anytime because I am going to chuckle maybe once – mostly now, all I do is get angry because all I am reading about is someone busting up the world of reality TV instead of just a good old fashioned joke fest.
I know people (I) can go to other blogs, but trust me – in his glory – there is not another person who could match Steve’s take on this show. I think that is why we stick around, hoping and praying he gets back to the way it was. Let me tell you, it was hilarious. There are tons of other sites that can bust up the “truths,” but RS is the only one who could make me laugh like he could about them.
July 24th, 2009 at 3:56 PM
@stephlk74b
agreed…plus, it’s kinda sad b/c it doesn’t seem like RS is having FUN with this blog anymore…It’s sooo negative now…too bad.
July 24th, 2009 at 4:32 PM
Here’s an important question for Wes.
It was obvious that the comments regarding him on the MTA were sliced and diced. One in particular was really frustrating. Maybe Wess can help clarify.
Sasha was trying to defend Wes but his comments were edited to the point where they left viewers hanging and didnt really make sense. He ended with this cliffhanger “Wes might have been on the show for the wrong reasons, BUT NOT FOR THE REASON EVERYONE THINKS”
Dun Dun DUN!
Does Wes know what Sasha meant to say??? It seemed he meant that Wes was not on the show for the “wrong reason” of having a girlfriend or possibly even for career reasons, which are the two “wrong” reasons everyone thinks. RealitySteve, a great followup would be to get Sasha on the phone and ask him directly what he meant. Inquiring minds REALLY want to know!
Also, what did Wes mean when he said “My acting days are through”. That was edited as said in the limo but can he shed light on when he said it and why? That was one phrase that really seemed damning (along with “I’m going to go home and have a LOT of sex” and “it’s going to take me a long time to get on my feet” said with a smirk (which implied it would take him a long time to get on his feet from the horizontal position required to have sex) so if Wes could answer to these three phrases, especially the first one about acting, it would help his case a lot. These would be great journalistic followups.
Thanks Steve!!
July 24th, 2009 at 4:51 PM
To those complaining that Steve doesn’t have Reality Roundup up yet, remember, this is not a paid job for him. He doesn’t owe us anything. We come here because we want to read what he has to say (and others in their comments).
July 24th, 2009 at 6:00 PM
I’m sorry to all you “Wes lovers” but he dug his own grave! ABC didn’t have to do much to portray him as an a**hole! I mean… hello???? Do you not remember him saying to the camera things like, “I’m gonna have a lot of sex if I go home.” or “First guy in Bachelorette history to make it to the final four with a girlfriend.” He was and is a loser, creep, and disgusting human being. Disgusting. He sat right there on the sofa and told those guys to their faces that he’d already gotten all the publicity he needed from being there for 6 weeks. What is wrong with you people?! Yeah sure other guys on there could have benefitted from the publicity for whatever their occupation was… but they weren’t out promoting themselves like he was 24/7. He was either talking about his stupid music career or singing his stupid song. What’s he gonna say now? “Yeah guys I really am as big of an a**hole as the show portrayed!” Of course not. He obviously has to come up with something or people aren’t going to buy his records. Please… Reality Steve… I like your blogs and I follow you, but the fact that you are taking up for this pathetic loser is really pretty gross.
July 24th, 2009 at 6:30 PM
jkbraunie wow you don’t really understand what editing really is or what a voice-over is. Go back and watch the sex comment again and tell us if you really see those words come out of his mouth at the same time that you hear them. Do more research before you ask everyone here “what is wrong with us” lol. You fell hook line and sinker for this show just the way ABC hoped you would.
July 24th, 2009 at 6:54 PM
@lora … Please, everyone understands the edit. Did Wes go on the show to get a wife or not? It doesn’t matter if he had a girlfriend or if he is a dirt bag or not. Regardless of what was edited, I do not believe that they spent hours and hours cutting and pasting every single word he said. Cute, likable Michael defended him in the post elimination interviews but at the end of the MTA, he raised his hand when Chris asked who thought he had a girlfriend – even though that doesn’t matter in the end and Jillian doesn’t care if he did because she would have been satisfied if he dumped her after the show. He wasn’t “there for HER” and that is the bottom line – regardless of all of the alleged motives of the other guys. He had best background/career to exploit in an edit – even if he hadn’t run his mouth so much – and they did it. He signed the dotted line. He thought he’d get more exposure. He didn’t get the edit he wanted and now he’s crying. I guess that’s what country singers do, huh? Cry in their beer then write a sad, sorry song? I might actually download a song about how ABC done him wrong. LOL! I hope he pens one. Everyone who thinks he got what you can get when you go on a reality show is not stupid or dense. So what if he got the edit from hell! ABC was not obligated to turn him into a star. He wouldn’t be half as damaged if he’d just agreed to go on the MTA in the first place. Instead, he chose to go to a blogger then thought ABC would let him change his mind. I, personally, don’t think he’s good enough to stand out in a crowd of country singers. Simon Cowell would tell him to go on a cruise ship.
July 24th, 2009 at 8:12 PM
I guess Steve couldn’t get to write the Reality Roundup because he was busy taping a segment for Extra about the finale on monday (check Twitter).
I just wish he would tell us his thoughts about the finale as well!!!
July 24th, 2009 at 8:49 PM
Do you E V E R post anything when you have said you will???? I am getting tired of checking to see if you have posted your promised columns like you have said you!!! You are so undependable!!!!!
July 24th, 2009 at 10:10 PM
Don’t you realize Wes is using you for nefarious purposes just like he used ABC and Jillian? Wake up! Get over it!
July 24th, 2009 at 10:58 PM
Wes,
Thank you so much for speaking out. I thought your YouTube video with Tanner really took guts. Amazing stuff, taking on a network like that…
I wish you much succcess! You have impressed me as a man of character and with obvious talent, heart, and soul. I am going to look forward to seeing your star rise!
July 24th, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Hi Steve, I enjoy reading your thoughts and comments, and agree with you most of the time. I have not listened to the interview, and when I do, I may or may not gain any respect for Wes.
It seems that many people are blaming everything on “editing.” And although that is a huge part of the show, there is no explanation for some of the comments he made. How do you edit “I have Jillian wrapped around my little finger?” And the famous line, “I am going to go home and have lots of sex.” The producers didn’t play a role in that comment. He meant it. He wanted to look like a stud.
His behavior was that of an aloof, arrogant, narcissistic man with bad taste in clothes and a small IQ. A decent man would not say he is going home to have lots of sex.” The way Kiptyn and Reid looked at him was an indication of how disgusted they were by that comment.
Please forgive me Steve, and perhaps I will eat crow when and if I hear the interview. But how can someone say so many stupid things one minute, and then “be sincere” the next? How do you know he is telling you the truth? What about the 15 to 20 guys who heard him talk everyday about his career etc….. Are you saying that these guys were not at all credible, but that Wes was?
I don’t buy it at all. But I do feel sorry for his X girlfriend (?), and his family. They are not to blame for any of this and people need to leave them be. Wes made his bed. and all editing aside, he still made himself look like an ass. I totally agree with MA above. And he is not a victim. If he was, the guys would not have bashed him on the MTA.
On a positive not, I thank you for entertaining us, and giving us such an interesting spin on things…..

WES IS THE MAN, THE FIRST GUY WITH REAL BALLS ON THE SHOW. GREAT JOB STEVE!
I guess some of you don’t get it.

Steve, I misspelled the word note at the bottom of my comment. Sorry!
I do have one more thing to say and then I will shut up. As much as ABC supposedly “edited his comments, they sure gave him a lot of air time and allowed him to play his guitar and sing quite a bit. He got the exposure he wanted. He came on a show with no interest at all in finding love. No editing on earth could cover that up.

Could DeAnna in the reality TShirt be any hotter!

Agony….. it seems that, per a reputable FORT poster, Ed is indeed F1. Engaged and all.
OK, RS, we need dirt. Does Jilly know abt the GF’s. Does she care?
What about the pig that was supposed to be roasted??
If your paths should ever cross with Reid or Kip – in RL or cyberspace – please thank them for being such a pleasure to watch every week…. truly classy guys…. Jilly’s loss…..
July 25th, 2009 at 2:15 AM
Poor silly Jilly….
We need dirt, RS…. did she know abt the GF’s???
If you should ever cross paths – in RL or in cyberspace – with Reid & Kip, please thank them for us for being such a delight to watch. I wish the best to these great guys. But tell them to stay away from TB….
July 25th, 2009 at 2:21 AM
Oh silly Jilly. Guess they never told you about Ed’s sterling character??? Maybe you were looking for a drinking buddy?? You should have listened to Mel…..
RS, if you cross paths, in RL or cyberspace, with Reid and Kip, please thank them for us for allowing us to get to know them each Monday evening. I wish them the best….

Man you can’t make this stuff up,it must be real life.On one hand you have Wes trying to defend himself, and the next minute you go to you tube and Wes is doing the same thing that ABC did to him,he must of been talking alot, because it looks like an edit to me,and is that legal,in that state to record someone,Tanner,I could not hear a thing,it was cheesy, don’t know maybe if one party agrees? As for country songs, while I was on you tube, well if you are ever pissed off at an air line…Watch, United breaks guitars. And in ending good luck to all, well at least the ones who made it out alive.Cheers.

(Oh my – excuse the triple post – I thought it hadn’t gone through….)
July 25th, 2009 at 3:42 AM
Hours and hours and hours of talking and jokes occured over the course of several weeks.
How do you edit “I have Jillian wrapped around my little finger?” And the famous line, “I am going to go home and have lots of sex.”
You take a punch line/question/statement from early on and add it in out of context later.
Go Steve, looking forward to your extra appearance on Monday.

Wes is just one of a sea of country singers trying to make it unfortunately for him he choose a very dishonest way to get ahead of the rest. Country music is about trust, honesty and soulful sentiments none of which Wes pocesses. Maybe he should try a different venue where being “shady” is more acceptable.

I listened to the interview, and not much was gleamed from it. I agree with ABC’s decision to not let him appear on the MTA. I would like to hear what Tanner has to say. He had a pretty bad “edit” too. I mean I wonder if it is hard for him to find dates since that freakish foot fetish was revealed. Isn’t he right in Texas too Steve? Can you not spend a little time with Tanner?
Great pic of Wes. He looks so lost and confused.

It cracks me up how so much time and effort has been spent accusing Wes of having a girlfriend, when it is Ed who left a couple of them on hold to come on this show. Why no mention? One ABC determined Ed was the front runner, they put maximum effort into keeping that from getting out. Now who’s the scum? Wes, whom ABC has yet to give any audio or video proof of what he supposedly said, or Ed, who’s own friends have twittered about his weaselly ways? Poor Wes, he’s the good guy here.

This is a pic of Laurel plus her reaction to hearing Jake say her name on tv.

Reasons I think Wes went on the show -
1. His manager said it would be good exposure for him.
2. His mother and sister would love for him to meet a nice girl and settle down.
3. He figured ‘Why not? It will be fun hanging around with the guys and maybe the girl will be someone I want to see more of.’
Do I think these were the wrong reasons?
Probably, but how many of us have gone to to a bar, party, or social event and made a quick glance around to see if there was anyone we were super attracted to and if not just enjoyed the event anyway?
Do I think Wes had a girlfriend?
No. I think he had an ex-girlfriend whom he still ’sees’ (for lunch)once in a while. I can also imagine how a group of guys, especially with a little alcohol, would interpret ’sees for lunch’.
Do I think he made some inappropriate comments?
Yes, but I see Wes as a laid-back country singer used to saying whatever pops into his head. He is used to performing and talking to his audience. When I think back to country concerts I’ve been to I know inappropriate comments have been made but the audience just laughs and realizes it’s part of the entertainment. I think Wes was being himself and never expected his comments and sarcasm to be used against him.
Final thoughts on Wes -
He admitted to jillian that he’d love to hang out with her but wasn’t going to marry her. He was honest. I think the producers went way too far in destroying his character. Even the x-girlfriend has stood up for him. Sadly most people will believe whatever they see on the show.

Couldn’t write about Wes without writing about Ed. Obviously we don’t know for sure about his two supposed girlfriends who didn’t know about each other and if he really did lie to one about being away on business when he was actually back on the show. We also don’t know for a fact that he lied to Jillian about having to leave for business.
I do know, though, that he certainly did not seem that upset when he left. I also don’t think he looked that happy to be back (although Jillian certainly was). It bothers me that he often doesn’t look Jillian in the eye when he says the things she wants to hear. And did Jillian (or us viewers) actually believe that HE flew his parents to Hawaii to meet her?
If the rumors about him are true then he certainly is the kind of guy who could easily say things to a girl he didn’t mean. He would also be someone the producers could easily manipulate (much like someone we all know from last season). I hope she doesn’t pick him, but I’m afraid she might. If she’s as good a judge of character as she says she is, she’ll hopefully find out the truth about him (whatever it is).
Perhaps the show needed a hero and a villian. Wes got the short end of the stick and Ed lucked out. I hope Jillian finds what she wants.

Good interview. Personally, I liked Wes from the beginning and I thought there was more to it; considering the show’s upstanding track record.
Wes should be thanking his lucky stars he didn’t make it to the end. He can recover from being booted off when he was. It would have been harder if he made it to the end, he & Jillian eventually broke up and his face was all over People Magazine being called a “user”.
I like his music and hope his career flourishes.
Good luck Wes!

INTERVIEW #2 WITH WES HAYDEN – WHY WASN’T HE AT THE “MEN TELL ALL”?”
Who cares!
I thought Wes did a much better during his 1st radio interview.
Personally, RS … I think you did Wes no favor with you style of interview, memorializing all the negative moments and not once talking up the positive, and there were positive moments during his time on The Bachelorette.
Moreover, talk about disingenuous. Whose idea was it for Wes to deny going on the show to sell CDs … of course he did! And why bother to insinuate he never spoke negatively about the other men, when he did on film and, again, during the very same 1st RS interview?
Wes should have shell out a grand and talk to a media consultant specializing in damage control to map out a winning strategy instead of listing to a bunch of yahoos about how fix what he, himself, broke.
Moreover, Wes should have been screaming, “How dare ABC slice and dice footage to insinuate Jillian wasn’t exciting and desirable enough for me, or any man on the show. Yes, I went on the show to promote my music, but I was also curious, and eventually surprised how taken I became with Jillian. She is one amazing woman!”
That is the story that sells, as opposed to boohooing about losing five gigs to the tune of $30 grand … that implied it is all about money and has always been about money.
Even so, Wes did sink his own ship with his big mouth. Although I never thought he had a girlfriend, I don’t believe for a minute he sliced and diced that much; liquored up, yes, but no one force feed him, did they?
Complete waste of bandwidth, RS. Complete waste of opportunity, Wes. Complete waste of MY time.

for the record, i believe what wes is saying and feel bad for him. but you are seriously so gay for him it’s ridiculous.
July 29th, 2009 at 7:51 PM
I was actually buying Wes’ sob story until I went to his web site. If any of you really think he’s not benefiting from his stint on the Bachelorette, check it out. Right there on his home page appears the heading “The Bachelorette” in big capital letters, and right below that he invites folks to “download the song Wes sang to Jillian on TV”. You can’t have it both ways buckaroo.
