Brad the Bachelor…Again.

Go scroll down the right hand column and read my archives from Brad’s season. Especially the day after the finale aired. I couldn’t have praised the guy more if I tried. I never understood why America hated him so much and I still don’t to this day. The guy stuck by his guns, and rather than pick someone that he wasn’t in love with only to end it a couple months down the road, he decided not to lead anyone on, and end it right there. And if you’re gonna argue he led Jenni and DeAnna on by taking them all the way to end before doing it, then you are completely clueless with how this show works. I shouldn’t have to explain that. Brad was easily the most honest “Bachelor” this show has ever produced. Where is the harm in giving him a second chance? And if you’re truly, truly not going to watch this season because he’s “already had his chance”, then great. 10 million other people will. Voicing your opinion about how much you dislike this decision isn’t going to change anything. Brad is going to be the next Bachelor whether you like it or not. The next time ABC cares what their audience thinks when it comes to this show will be the first. I heard it all with DeAnna, then Jason, then Jillian, then Jake, then Ali. And the ratings haven’t gone down once. People are going to continue to watch. Accept it.

I have no idea if Brad will find love and get married through this show. Maybe he will, maybe he won’t. But I don’t have any problem at all with him being re-cast. Doesn’t really bother me that I’m in the minority in that thinking either, since I’ve seen most of your reaction to this. If you’re a die hard of this show, you’ll watch regardless of who was cast. What makes the show is the 25 women and what they bring to the table, not who the “Bachelor/ette” is. I’m very much looking forward to this season now and I’m glad that Lambton decided to turn it down. As much as people are confused by it now, I think once the show gets rolling again, it’ll be back into the same routine, and having Brad back won’t be such a big deal. Brad is a genuine good guy that it didn’t work out for the first time around. Nothing wrong with trying again. It’s ok people. Take a deep breath.

As for filming, the last two seasons (Jake and Jason), both started in mid October and ended the week of Thanksgiving. Looks like they’re moving Brad’s season up as filming is expected to begin this weekend. So expect him to be making the media rounds next week to promote him doing this again. Expect him to appear on DWTS this Monday night because that’s when the media blitz will start. And you can bet your ass there will be an “Ellen” appearance next week since she was his biggest critic after he dumped DeAnna and Jenni. I hope he has his answers prepared because he’s going to get grilled. The first question out of everyone media members mouth will be, “Why are you doing this again?” Brad, in case you’re listening, answer a question with a question. Your answer should be, “Why not?”

Lastly, I will be back tomorrow with the apology I’ve been talking about for a few weeks now. Finally getting around to writing it today and I will be as clear as I can in tomorrow’s column about how everything went down and why I wrote what I did when I did. So look for that in tomorrow’s column.

To follow me on Twitter (you know, so you can hear “exclusives” first), it’s: www.twitter.com/RealitySteve. All other ways to get a hold of me are in the “Contact Me” link at the top of the page. See you back here tomorrow for the long awaited and much deserved apology I need to give.

  1. Brad had the perfect girl in DeAnna, and he dumped her. So I don’t know how to feel about this news. Should I hope for the best for Brad, or should I hope that he falls on his face because of his stupid decision to dump DeAnna. I just don’t know.

  2. I do not have a problem with Brad being The Bachelor again. Like you said, why not?

I copied this from a previous post:
As for the next “Bachelor”, 100% confirmed it is Chris Lambton’s gig IF he wants it. No word yet on whether he’s officially agreed, but c’mon, the way the show will set up his exit as the guy everyone in America will feel sorry for, it’s the perfect set up leading into next season. He and the show both know America has pretty much fallen in love with him, I can’t imagine him passing this up. Same thing I say for everyone who is the “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette”: Who wouldn’t want a two month vacation to date a bunch of good looking people and go on dates you’d probably never experience in your whole life? Not to mention get paid six figures to do so. I say you can pretty much mark it down Chris is going to be the next “Bachelor”.

At least you said “pretty much” ;)

  3. hey george jefferson–brad had the perfect BITCH in deanna and he realized it. that stuck up snot is high maintenance-she required the guys to kiss her a certain way and she whined all the time–when she was the bachelorette. brad dodged a big bullet!

  4. I think Brad was a great bachelor. Next to Jason, he was my favorite. I’m disappointed that Chris turned it down…but I think it will be very intersting/entertaining to watch Brad again!

  5. Look I’m like Steve, I don’t get what the big deal is. I watch the show no matter who is on it just because I’m amused by it. Brad was honest, and I guess in a fantasy world, being honest is a bad thing, but get real. They guy did what he felt he needed to do. The girls that he turned down have forgiven him (in case you missed the special that follows all the Bachelor(ette) shows), so why not try again? If a guy does what most of the guys from this show do in real life, they are players. Now think of the real life reaction a guy would get if he had to make the same decision without the cameras around. He’d most likely be applauded but because the whole thing occurred in TV land, he’s made to look like this horrible man who doesn’t care about anyone but himself. I don’t think that’s it at all. Sure he’s drawn to the money, but he’s obviously doing good by himself. Sure he’s drawn to the endless female attention, but what normal guy isn’t? I think what he did was sincere and honest. When you don’t have feelings for someone that has them for you, the best thing to do is to address the situation and let them know that you’re flattered but not interested in pursuing that type of relationship. Get off the guy already. Though I will say, since they are re-using a Bachelor, it’d be insane if they decided to re-use some of the cast-off women from previous season that haven’t been in the lime light lately.

  6. since brad is a re-tread i say use some of those women rejects. the cast offs from other bachelor shows–! yeah! good idea!

  7. I stopped watching after Andrew Firestone’s season and tuned back in at Brad’s season because like many others thought now here’s a good looking bachelor. I thought he was a great guy and not boring to watch at all. I, like many others, was shocked that he chose no one and yes, was slightly disappointed, however, I watched a lot of interviews that he did after the fact and ended up respecting his decision to not lead someone on, like so many other’s do.

I am quite shocked to hear he’s doing it all again, next to Mesnick, Brad was the most hated man in America, he got crucified by the media and the general public for his decision, I for one am quite surprised that he’d want to do this all over again, especially since he went into hiding for many months after.

I will more than likely tune in to watch his season again because I’ll be curious to see if he actually chooses someone this time around. I will skip the spoilers because for once I’d like to not know the outcome and be surprised.

You can imagine the last two girls if they know who he is will be wondering the entire time if they two will be dumped at the end, should make for interesting TV.

  8. I walked out of the room at the wrong moment during DWTS last night. Was Brad officially announced as the Bachelor? I came back in the room and they showed him sitting next to Chris Harrison in the DWTS audience.

Never mind, I’ll find it online. :-)

  9. Be prepared for Brad to walk away again…as he has already mentioned, he wouldnt hesitate to have the same LAME ending again. Kudos to ABC for spending millions on a show/guy who probably will end up doing the same thing…..Great move!

  10. Not even sure if this guy is heterosexual! Awful choice! I’d be more fired up for the “weatherpud” at this point…

  11. MeAnna was not the perfect girl for anyone…..She might be the perfect girl for Stephen Stagliano, who has no balls and is a wus a plain break dancer….lmao

MeAnna’s would be a nobody either if Brad Womack didn’t bring her to the limelight, so yeah she should thank him….Otherwise she would be picking cotton in the fields.
Who is she anyways?……..a wait bar person who serves drinks.

She is in Iraq now and complaining and byotching how hard it is for her……Wtf did she go there for, did she think she was going to a 5 star hotel?

  12. Brad will be interesting to watch, they say his mother Pam really messed up his life as far as commitment goes….Too many step-fathers in his life.
That’s the word out there, not my words.

Watching this will be entertainment, bring Wes on to play guitar on each and everyone of Brad’s one on one dates….lol

  13. I’m thrilled that it’s Brad. He’s smoking hot and seems like a real gentleman. I loved his season. I’m glad too because he’s a little older. Hopefully they will cast some women who are in their 30s and seriously ready to commit and not just famewhores.

  14. Nah…………he can never beat Bobby….Bobby holds the record, it’s what Fleiss said…Maybe Fleiss is jealous of Bobby…I bet Bob banged more than Fleiss did…lol

Brad doesn’t look like the banger boy, he is just lost, I don’t think he found himself yet…
If the shit about his many step fathers is true then the boy has some issues, and hey can you blame him.

  15. So I’m curious. What I’ve seen people reply as to being upset the most is this guy being what? in his mid to late 30′s? And they’re going to give him 25 twenty-somethings to choose from? What I’ve heard the most is the potential age difference of the Bachelor and the bachelorette. Any word on if they are choosing slightly older women than they normally do?

  16. PS… I don’t watch this show. I see recaps on PINT and I do follow RS. That’s as much as I need to see. :D

  17. I’m really surprised by this. Since by all accounts for the last 3 years Brad has said NO unequivocally that he would never do this again. Kinda makes you wonder how much $ they paid him.. After all, the Womack boys did just open a new bar. Not sure how it’s doing.. Well, all I can say is I hope he finds whatever it is he’s looking for because obviously he’s not finding it here in Austin.
