…that was what I wrote as part of my tweet this past Saturday night before I headed out to the movies to see “Just Go With It”. By the way, we can now add Brooklyn Decker to my “list”. I know, real shocker, huh? Anyway, why did I tweet that? Because this season, I’ve been pitching a perfect game. Every date, rose, elimination has been dead on since Day 1. I’ve even given you stuff that wasn’t even shown on the show (the Vegas tattoos, Ashley H’s ex boyfriend who died two weeks before filming, Brad kissing all nine girls on the Dr. Drew date, etc). So we’ve come to this. I’ve retired the first 26 batters without giving up a hit or a walk. We’re down to the last strike. One more out and I’ve got a perfect game for the season. So, what do I throw? If I were ever a major league pitcher, you go with your best stuff, so I’m going with the fastball. One problem. That fastball was deposited into the 15th row of the outfield bleachers by Albert Pujols and the perfect game has come to an end. For all you non-baseball fans, what does that mean? It means my sources have been wrong about the ending of the show.
Brad is engaged to Emily.
It’s been a crazy last 96 hours to say the least, but yes, it is true. Trust me, for the guy that has sat here for the last three months pounding on his chest and screaming from the top of the Empire State Building like King Kong that “Brad is engaged to Chantal”, the last thing I wanna do is tell you I was wrong the whole time. Well, I was. I apologize. We’ll get to the “why” and the “how” in a little bit as I give you a inside look into my last week. If there are still those that doubt it’s Emily and thinking well maybe someone is trying to fool me or throw me off, just think about this. Do you think after being wrong about Ali and Roberto’s ending, and having said it’s Chantal for the last three months, I would come out and admit to this different ending if it was just some hunch that I had? I’m more than 100% (if that’s possible), absolutely, positively, without a doubt telling you Brad is engaged to Emily and he has been since South Africa. You will see this on March 14th. I’m just glad I was able to get it to you with two weeks to spare, because in the end, this site is about two things in my opinion: Humorous, snarky, sarcastic recaps, and telling you what’s going to happen before you actually see it happen. Well, now you know.
There are a lot of factors that led up to this and me finding out about this ending last week, and I will get to those in a brief second. But let me first and foremost get some much needed apologies out of the way immediately.
To my readers: Sorry I gave you the wrong info. Wasn’t my intention. Had every reason to believe the information I had was right. My sources don’t lie to me. Apparently though, at some point, THEY were given bad information, which has been the case now in back-to-back seasons regarding the ending of the show. Were they PURPOSELY given false information? Impossible to know and ever prove. They say they weren’t, so I gotta believe them. I still talk to my sources, they are acquaintances of mine, and I appreciate what they’ve done for me in recent seasons. We just need to tighten the screws up a bit to get this damn ending correct next time.
To emailers: If at any point over the last three months, you emailed me something in regards to me possibly being wrong about this seasons ending, and I shot back with “I don’t know how many times I have to say it, Brad and Chantal are engaged”, I’m sorry as well. You gotta understand that it happens every season, and I really try and respond back to everyone who takes the time to write me. And since I posted the spoilers back in December, I had no reason to ever doubt I was wrong, so that was my stock answer to everyone who questioned the ending. I must’ve sent that email out over 200 times the last three months. I know now I should’ve either just ignored them or responded in a different way.
To Brad Womack: For having to keep a poker face all season when bombarded about Chantal because I reported it. Remember when I posted the audio clip of Brad on with “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” here in Dallas a while back? At the time, I always thought it was weird why he was so complimentary of me and like “Yep, wow that guy is good. I don’t know where he gets his info from, but he definitely knows his stuff”. Because I’ve been so blind to everything the past three months, it makes sense now: Of course he was complimenting and propping me up…he knew I was wrong about the ending! He knew that when people kept seeing the episode-by-episode spoilers were correct, it would only add to the credibility I’d be right about the ending. Smart move, Brad. He played it well.
To Fans of Chantal: Sorry to burst your bubble. Whether you believed it was her because of what I told you back on Dec. 8th, or because of what you saw on your television screen, as I always say, never let the edit shown on television shape who you think is the one chosen in the end. The editors of this show know exactly what they’re doing in getting you to think and feel certain ways about people. Been doing it for 21 seasons, and will continue to do it. What we’ve seen them showing us all season is Brad’s incredible physical chemistry with Chantal, and awkward, weird conversations with Emily where he genuinely seems uncomfortable at times. And what does it all mean in the end? A whole lot of nothing.
To Emily Maynard: Actually, I probably don’t need to apologize to Emily. If anything, she should be THANKING me for taking the attention off her all season, because I’m guessing it would’ve been a hell of a lot worse on her if I was calling her Brad’s final choice all season. Which brings me to my final, and probably most important, apology of the season…
To Chantal O’Brien: For having to endure the scrutiny of being the alleged “final choice” all season long, when she knew for the last three months that she wasn’t. Of course, Chantal was going to get attention this season because of the slap, and because she made it all the way to the end, but having the “final choice” label thrown on you a month before the season even begins, and constantly talked about as the final one in my blog all season long, probably didn’t help matters.
So what happened? How was I led to believe it was Chantal for the last three months? I could talk for 10 pages about how everything went down back in November with my sources when they told me the ending, where I was when they told me, what I was told, why I believed it, how it came about, etc. I just don’t see the point now. It’s not gonna matter to most of you. It’s wrong. Doesn’t matter how or why it was wrong, it was just wrong. Just know, I have to trust what my sources tell me. I’m as good as the info they give me. We’re a team. They know a hell of a lot more than I do, and have been right pretty much all the time. So I don’t have room to question it really. They’ve been really good for two years now. However, I can be clear about one point. Even though you may find this hard to believe and it’s damn near impossible for me to prove it to you, trust me when I say the O’Briens did spend Thanksgiving at their vacation home in California. Brad obviously just wasn’t there as I was originally told. The fact of the matter is Brad has been engaged to Emily this whole time, and basically I put so much trust into my sources for the last three months, that I buried my head in the sand because I refused to believe I had the ending wrong. All the while, I missed out on quite a few things. Let me give you the timeline of last week to tell you how and where it all started breaking down for me.
Perhaps Brad DID meet Emily’s family and they just didn’t show us on the home town date.
I haven’t been on the site in a couple of weeks, however after last night watching Emily and Brad together I had to check out the website and see if things had changed. I’m glad you were wrong.
I’ve seen several people react to the person who commented moonlighting as Mike Fleiss…
“LOL Steve. Maybe now you won’t be such a misogynistic, condescending prick who insults his readers. No wonder you’re single.”
Get real people. Dudes don’t call other dudes misogynistic. And why would he refer to Steve by several terms that have often been used to describe himself. And…Mike Fleiss makes tons of money off single people. This was obviously written by a chick.
I am so pissed of this new update, i cant believe he chose emily, come on people, are u serious? she is only 24, and she still has to grow as a woman. I was really rooting for chantel, because she is smart, beautiful and intelligent. As far as her being emotional, it is bunch of bs… are u telling me that emily is not? she cries every episode of her past and clearly has issues of her own. At least chantel showed her true side right in front of the camera… well that’s all i had to say, sucks for brad letting an amazing woman pass by.
Hey, your spoilers are right SOME of the time, and that is better than almost everyone else! Besides, your blogs have more entertainment value than anything! Love your sarcasm, love your bravado! Love it!
btw, I wish Brad would have chosen Chantal, Emily is WAY too good for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly, this just made everything more interesting. I love a last minute twist. ABC should thank you, you’re the only reason I keep watching this show.
Steve – No grovelling necessary IMO!
I trust you strive to be right and that your sources are reliable. Every time I read a spoiler I know there’s a tiny chance it might be wrong. No big whoop. Until yesterday’s show I would’ve sworn Brad picked Chantal. There’s no way he’d keep a mother on the show and risk the wrath of America. It’s too cruel to lead Emily or any mother on. So when he dumped thin lips (sorry but all she did was lick her thin lips all the time), I knew something huge was going on. The weird part is I see very little REAL or deep interaction between Brad and Emily. He and Chantal have much better communication (unless this is all editing). Sometimes it even seems like Emily is not really into Brad. So this is kinda odd, but whatever! If she’s happy. I think Emily is sexy as hell and I’m straight. He’d be damn lucky to have such a sweet and good woman. Better not fuck it up, you turd Brad. You really are a boring turd.
And may I just cast my NO vote for Ashley being the new Bachelorette? Except for Michelle I can’t think of anything more nauseating. Listening to Ashley speaking like a teenager ad nauseam (like, I think, like I feel, it’s like, like, like, ugh!) for weeks on end? God please no.
So anyhoe forgive yourself, Steve! You work really hard and provide us with a great blog and lots of entertainment. Thank you.
I’m with Curmudgeon – even though it is really late in the season, you still “spoiled” the ending correctly prior to the F1 being announced. I for one am happy to hear it is not Chantal, and it doesn’t bother me in the least that I heard the news only a couple of weeks before the end – it is still prior to the end, so you technically weren’t “wrong”…..
You may be 2 for 4 for the endings, but you are 98% accurate on all of the other parts of the show: dates, who goes home what week, etc. Who cares? If the spoiler is right, so what? If the spoiler is wrong, so what? I guess I thought pretty much everybody mostly reads your column for the snarky blogs. I know I do, and the spoilers are not this huge issue for me.
If someone really cares THAT much, WOW. They must be just a tad delusional.
ok-so there is a story that emily was never really engaged and that after ricky died, his family gave a ring from a previous fiance of ricky to emily to make it look like they were engaged, what do you know about this theory. Also the story stated that ricky and emily were never highschool sweethearts…
Hi Steve, Ive been a reader of your columns for a long time. I really enjoy them. It does not matter whether you got the ending right or wrong, you had 95% of all the right information starting from the first episode.
Will continue to visit your blog, whether u have spoilers or not!

Steve,
I started reading here long before you started doing “spoilers” just for your funny, snarky recaps. You not getting the ending perfectly right from the get-go isn’t going to make me go anywhere, especially to “FORT.” I have been over there, quite a few seasons ago, but I don’t have the time to spend all day looking for things – I have a life besides this stupid show. I think that place is for people with nothing else to do. I get all I need to read about the show right here, with plenty of laughs to go along with it! Just keep doing what you’re doing!
I have enjoyed reading the RS spoilers for the past few seasons, but does ANY one else find it suspicious that two seasons in a row he was wrong on the ending and then miraculously released the correct ending RIGHT before the final aired??? I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but something more than “bad sources” could be going on here. It is odd that the sources are spot on about all the little things (like the tattoos, etc) that don’t even get aired but are wrong on THE MOST imporant spoiler – the ending. Not sure what could be going on but it is pretty darn coincidental. Again, I hate to be a conspiracy theorist but I also don’t want to be like those people who watch the Bachelor and believe everything they see on the show is actually “reality.” Sometimes you have to question things you see on TV or read in blogs…
Despite all this I will probably still continue reading RS’s spoilers though for the same reason I still watch the Bachelor…it’s entertaining, it’s a guilty pleasure, and I lack of self control.

OMG what the hell kind of spoiler joker are you? Obviously you don’t know what you’re blathering about. Give it up. There ARE other sites that actually supply ACCURATE spoilers. I mean for gad’s sake you got last season wrong and this season too. Go find another job cause you suck at this.
Hey Steve,
Haven’t followed you that long but I do enjoy your writing and your humor. Love seeing Maddie, she is so cute. No one gets it right 100 % of the time, hang in there.
No, this is perfect. I loved knowing who was going home every episode but I have been wondering all season why he would pick Chantal over Emily. PLEASE keep the blog!! Did your traffic go down after being wrong last season? Doubt it…

Your smart ass, snarky blog and recaps are to this show what Tums are to an old, fat man who just ate a chili dog with extra onions.
I don’t care if you were wrong for 3 months. You make this show bearable to those of us who are unfortunately addicted to it.
This season was yet another win for you. And when I say “win,” I mean it in the Websters Dictionary way. Not the Charlie Sheen way.
