So lets immediately start with the news that I tweeted last night regarding information I had regarding Brad and Emily. It’s probably the one thing I’ve gotten asked most about since their finale aired, and I’ve pretty much stayed away from it since almost every story written about them hasn’t included any quotes from Brad and Emily themselves. Nor has ABC said anything or released any official statements. Well, that’s about to change. Hasn’t been announced yet, but it will be shortly, but Emily is in LA this weekend taping a private, sit down interview with Chris Harrison on a closed set (like the Jake and Vienna interview) where she will talk about her and Brad’s relationship, how they are broken up, have been broken up for a while now, and that she ended it with him. This interview will be shown during the last 10-15 minutes of the July 11th episode of the “Bachelorette” (also like the Jake and Vienna interview, although theirs was close to 45 min). Brad was asked but will not be a part of this interview. So there you have it. Finally, the emails can stop coming in asking me about these two. I don’t think Emily is gonna sit there and throw the guy under the bus, but after two months of being bombarded about it, at least people will finally get their answer as to what happened. I don’t think the news they’re broken up should be a surprise to anyone. But wanted to fill you in on how it was gonna be presented to the viewers.
One other scheduling snafu regarding the “Bachelorette” this season. For the first time since ABC has been airing the “Bachelorette” during the summer, July 4th falls on a Monday. ABC announced this past Tuesday that the July 4th episode will be a repeat of the Hong Kong episode that airs this Monday. The finale still is airing Aug. 1st, so that means there’s a change to the schedule. One of the ABC executives tweeted that the “Men Tell All” will now be shown on Sunday night July 31st, the night before the finale. Trying to confirm if that’s the case. If it isn’t, then that means they’ll have to combine two episodes at some point, and I don’t really see that happening. So as of now, it looks like the “Men Tell All” will air the night before the finale, something they’ve never done before. I honestly would’ve liked to have seen them combine the overnight date episode with the final episode, just because we all know how long and boring the final episode actually is with only two guys left and two hours to kill. A LOT of filler on that show.
Also, it’s been updated in the “Bachelorette Ashley Spoilers” link that on Monday’s episode, Mickey actually eliminates himself during the cocktail party by walking off the show. Guess he’s pissed at Ashley for still talking about Bentley. This has been shown in all the promos so ABC really isn’t hiding it. Pretty much semantics at this point in terms of his exit. All I knew was the guy left during this episode. Didn’t realize it was at the cocktail party and not the rose ceremony. Shoot me.
As for “Bachelor Pad 2″, filming wrapped yesterday. They spent the last two days with the final few couples in Las Vegas. If they stick to the schedule that they did last season (and up to this point they have), there would have been two “couples” eliminated over the last two days, leaving two remaining couples. In September, they will go back to film the finale where everyone who’s been voted off will choose between the final two “couples” of who they want to win. I don’t want to reveal the spoilers just yet because I don’t have everything, but here’s what I will reveal just to hold you over:
-There is no co-host this season, Chris Harrison is going solo. Gee, what a shame we won’t be graced with the brilliance that was Melissa Rycroft.
-Basically, the format is the same as last season. Everyone will eventually “couple” up with someone else. And yes, I’m aware of who’s with who, just don’t want to give it away just yet.
-Vienna outlasts Jake.
-There is a repeat challenge from last season. There’s also a challenge that’s somewhat a combination of two challenges from last season. And to say it’s degrading to women would be an understatement, yet on the same hand, it’s kinda hilarious. Gonna be real interesting to watch it play out.
-Holly and Michael will address their broken engagement for everyone to watch.
-Ok, I’ll give you one couple. Kasey and Vienna. Ha ha. Kidding. Here’s a clue to one of the couples: They’re arguably the two best looking people in the house. It should surprise exactly no one that these two paired up on the show. I would’ve been shocked if I heard these two DIDN’T hook up.
-Hearing about a lot of making out. No sex, but a lot of making out.
-Ashley makes an appearance on the show.
-Natalie and Dave come back to judge one of the challenges. No surprise there. All you had to do was follow their Twitter account to figure that one out.
-Ali, Roberto, Jason, Molly, and Trista were all in Vegas yesterday. Might be coincidental, might not.
Once I have everything I need, I will fill you in on the episode-by-episode spoilers. Hopefully it’ll be sometime next week.
I want to explain to everyone the reason for doing this “Reader Email” section every Friday. It’s not to embarrass anyone. If I wanted to embarrass the people that ask stupid questions, wouldn’t I attach their full name and email addresses on it? The whole reason I don’t print that information is so as to not publicly humiliate them. The only people in the world who know who sent me that email are me and the person who sent it. I do this section every week to have a little fun, educate people on the show, all while showing everyone the type of emails I deal with week in and week out. I think it’s more funny than anything I get asked the same question over and over and over. It doesn’t bother me. I just like sharing that with everyone else. It’s fun. And you’ll even see more of it this week. So just enjoy the “Reader Emails” for what they are. A way to screw around, have fun, educate people on maybe some things they didn’t know, and point out that no matter how many “Reader Email” posts I do, no matter how many times I answer the same question, and no matter how many times I repeat the same question, it will still get asked. Trust me. I’ve been doing this 8 years. I know my readers by now. It comes with the territory. Doesn’t mean I can’t make fun of it though. Enjoy…
I wish you would have a Frequently Asked Questions page. I only recently discovered your site and have readers will send you an email in which you answer “I’ve answered this a million times” and then don’t answer again. A newbie like me would love to know the answer but there is no way to find it.
Comment: I’ve addressed the FAQ link before, right here in this column actually, so let me spell it out once again. IT DOESN’T MATTER. If I include that link, people are still going to email me the same questions, so I’m not about to waste my time. You really think that when a question pops into someone’s head they have about the show, their first thought is gonna be, “Hmmm, let me go to Reality Steve’s page first to see if he has a FAQ link and read through all the questions to see if it’s one he’s already answered”? No. People are ADD. I’m ADD. They want instant gratification. No one’s gonna take the time to do that, so I’m not gonna bother putting one up.
Plus, exactly where do I draw the line on what’s considered a “Frequently Asked Question”? There’d be no end. I’d keep adding to it every week considering the amounts of emails I get and how many are repetitive questions. You think I shake my head at getting repeat questions now? Imagine if I ever put up a FAQ link and STILL get asked the same questions. I might slam my head against my keyboard causing brain damage.
A friend went to giorgios in cumming (constantines place) and his dad told them that ashley did come to cumming. You probably new that already.
Comment: No, I had no idea. Please, tell me more. Either that, or go check back two months when I was telling everybody THAT DAY when and where Constantine’s hometown date was taking place.
Hi there and thanks for the funny stuff (I especially liked your recent comment about how watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette feels as predictable as you remember when watching Scoobidoo cartoons as a kid… yet you — and we — still watch, somehow in denial of the numbing clichés and predictability…)
Anyway, can you please answer this one: If the producers and editors are so good at micromanaging all of the sound bites and images so as to give a certain impression, why is it that cheapo mistakes come through, like that person walking by in Ashley’s house when Bently comes to dump her, and — one of my faves, when Ali and Roberto have been making out in Tahiti, he walks away and she waves wistfully, then wipes her mouth with her wrist after all that kissing…. Ha! It’s that kind of stuff that is often most entertaining.
So, do they let the cheap stuff through on purpose, or don’t care about that, or are they actually not quite so good at controlling what they put out there?
Comment: Lets not forget about the Justin Rego on crutches “flip shot” where his cast was on two different legs in back-to-back shots. Yeah, they seem to get lazy every once in a while with stuff like that. Especially in this last episode with using William’s ITM from the roast after we see him get kicked off in Thailand, and then making it seem like Ashley gave Blake the rose after talking to Lucas, which she clearly didn’t. I don’t know how to answer that other than someone fell asleep in the editing room and should be fired.
