So I’m a few hours from heading down to Houston, and we didn’t have as many “Reader Emails” this week, so kind of a shorter column today. Heading to the Astros/Giants game tonight, then to Spring, Tx tomorrow night to see a friend’s band play. Anyone interested in going to the game tonight, I might have extra tix available. No idea where I’ll be after the game, but I’m sure some bars downtown where I’m staying. But mainly, I just wanted to get away for the weekend. Even though I’ll be gone next weekend too in CA, and then in 3 weeks to Vegas – again. A lot of traveling coming up but I’m looking forward to it. Especially the sauna that is Houston, Tx. I’ll be sure to wear a sweater and gloves to the game tonight. I’m guessing it’ll be freezing.
So what’s the Jennifer Love Hewitt story for this week? Well, she went on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to address the rumors about Ben F. Essentially, she said she was just having fun when she was tweeting during the show and everything’s gotten blown out of proportion. She says when she met Ben in San Francisco, it was just a complete coincidence they were at the same place at the same time, but when asked if she made out with him, she said “Rumors are rumors.” If you wanna hear the interview, click on this link.
Ummm, if you didn’t make out with him and it was a complete coincidence you were there, wouldn’t you just say, “No, I didn’t?” Lovely, you don’t live in San Francisco. You live in LA. And it’s not like you guys happened to be at some charity event or something where it could’ve been coincidental. You guys were at a bar together in San Fran five days after he started following you on Twitter and you had mentioned you needed to go to Sonoma. Sorry, not buying the “coincidental” stuff. Neither should anyone else. But that’s ok. I won’t consider it cheating on me. I’ll be a bigger man and look past it. It was a one time thing that’ll never happen again. It’s ok honey bear.
Some exciting news to tell you about. I tweeted on Wednesday that something happened which was 8 years in the making regarding RealitySteve.com. In a nutshell, RealitySteve.com has always been a 2 man operation – me and my webmaster. I do the writing, and he handles all the technical stuff since I’m an idiot when it comes to it. I know how to post my column and that’s about it. However, on Wednesday we signed a deal with investors that will no doubt improve the site. Now I have the backing of more people to help me out all while continuing to do what I do. A lot of it will be behind-the-scenes stuff that doesn’t necessarily affect you the readers, but the main thing is, I still have full control of what happens on the site, all while having more people helping me sell it and promote it. We will be launching with a new look in the near future, along with some exciting things I can’t get into yet. However, it’s a great deal that’s going to benefit all involved and I can’t wait to share all the new stuff we have coming.
Some of you have been asking about Ames and Jackie and what happened to them, or why they only lasted a couple weeks, etc. Well they, along with Gia, were on a conference call this week to talk about their time on “Bachelor Pad.” Reading their answers, it basically clears up nothing, but here it is anyway:
One last thing I wanted to mention before getting to the “Reader Emails” that has nothing to do with Reality TV, or who’s sleeping with who, or what douchebags are saying on Twitter about each other. It’s about reality. I saw this story on ESPN last year and I couldn’t help be moved by it. I wanted to share it back then, but it slipped my mind until this past week when they ran a follow up story. It’s an incredible story that I guarantee you’ll love. If you have 13 minutes in your day, I strongly suggest you take the time to watch this video:
This past Tuesday, ESPN did a follow up and Josiah is still with us today. It’s an amazing story that I just felt needed more attention. If you are interested in donating anything to help out, please click on this link:
I have contacted someone over there and they said this is where you go to donate any money. Any donation will go directly toward his medical bills and other expenses related to his illness. I’m sure anything you could do to donate would help. It is truly an amazing story and I’m glad I could share it with you if you hadn’t seen it before.
Now that hopefully you’ve watched that video and have cleaned out your box of Kleenex, let’s get to some more lighthearted stuff like “Reader Emails.” Not nearly as many this week. Not sure why, but maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe people are starting to get the picture not to fire me off an email the first time a question pops into their head regarding the show. Or not. Enjoy.
Hey, so I dug through AA.com and found this link: www.aawifiwidget.com/?anchorLocation=DirectURL&title=wifiwidget — cut-n-paste this into your browser and it should help you determine if your flight has WiFi or not.
I am a pilot and fly the 757 and 767 out of Miami to points domestic such as LAX, SFO, LGA, ORD, BOS, etc. On the older aircraft such as the MD-80 most have WiFi but some don’t. The 757 doesn’t have WiFi but the domestic trans-con 767-200’s do. On long haul international flights, planes such as the 777 do not offer WiFI simply because their is no WiFi coverage while flying over the Atlantic/Pacific oceans or South America.
The good news is over the next 5 years, AA is replacing nearly all of its older fleet with brand new B737, Airbus A320, and additional B777 aircraft. When complete, nearly all domestic flights should be WiFi capable. We are also one of the first domestic US airlines scheduled to get the B787….which will be the dream plane to fly as a pilot and ride on as a passenger. When the fleet replacement is complete, we will have the youngest fleet of all domestic airlines.
Thanks again for your realitysteve website. I will be watching your website for insight as to who the next Bachelor/Bacherlorette will be, when the info is available.
Comment: There. Anyone who flys American frequently and wants to know which flights have Wifi, I’ve got AA pilots reading RealitySteve.com and letting you know. I wonder if this guy reads it while he’s flying the plane? Cuz lets be honest, planes fly themselves pretty much automatically nowadays. This guy is probably kickin’ it up there with his co-pilot reading Ashley recaps while your life is in his hands. Just whatever you do Mr. Pilot, don’t have the fish dinner. We all saw what happened in “Airplane.”
Here is another reader from Germany. I love your colum and love to watch Bachelor, Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad and thanks to my husband and a few tricks with our computer I can watch it on hulu. Sadly there were only one Bachelor and one Bachelorette season here im Germany, but I read lately, that they are casting girls for a new version of The Bachelor (http://www.fameonme.de/jobs/weibliche-singles-fuer-der-bachelor-gesucht/) which will be filmed in southafrica this autum.
I have two question regarding the franchise.
1) Did both Ben and J.P. choose the same ring?
2) When ABC held the reunions or films the MTA or ATFR is every former cast member invited? I mean, with 22 seasons there must be like 500 people and nobody remembers the ones who got send home the first night.
I hope you enjoy your Bachelor/ Bachelorette free time, OK, there is BP, but it’s a little diffrent I think,
Comment: 1) No. According to Neil Lane, Ashley met with him before the season and gave him an idea of what kind of ring cut she likes. Then he makes up about 4 or 5 different rings, and the final two guys choose from them.
2) No, not even close. Only a selected few are allowed to go to those. Kasey, Rego, and Michelle were at this past MTA because they were there to promote “Bachelor Pad.” Usually none of the former contestants are in the crowd. They just crash the after party to begin their stalking of the “newbies” into the incestual Bachelor/ette family. That’s where it usually begins. This season was no exception.
Who do you think has the best body…Michelle Money, Jessie Sulidis, or someone else?
Comment: Well, Michelle has had a rough week. As we all know her dad died last Sunday, then come to find out her grandma passed the next day. So once again, thoughts and prayers go out to her.
With that said, having met Jessie a couple weeks ago in Vegas, my vote is for her. I think even last season during BP I said she had a ridiculous body. Well, Vegas pretty much confirmed it. I think most of the guys in Toby Keith’s bar on that Thursday night would probably agree with me. Yowza.
I understand their logic in recycling prior contestants to be the new leads. My question is whether you think it’s possible they’ll ever recycle contestants and not cast them as the lead. For example, anyone from Ashley’s season, other than JP, coming back next year for The Bachelorette? Not everyone is lead material, but if they’re ‘still trying to find love’ / wanting more TV exposure, could they appear again to compete for love?
I don’t expect you to have a yes / no answer, I’m just looking for your opinion on the likelihood that it could happen?
Thanks for the weekly entertainment.
Comment: The only time I can remember this happening was Byron’s season, when they re-cast Mary and some other girl. And Mary ended up winning. You know, it’s not a bad idea. But with “Bachelor Pad” now around, I think that’s where your former re-casting of former contestants will be restricted to. I just don’t see a female competing on the “Bachelor” twice, or a male competing on the “Bachelorette” again.
