A good full “Reader Email” bag this week. I’m guessing ones over the next few months might have a little less “Bachelor” related stuff in them, and be more questions regarding other shows, but we’ll see. Whatever the case, enjoy this one…
Hi Reality Steve,
I just wanted to say thank you for making my Tuesdays and Fridays that much more bearable at work. I really don’t know if I would still be watching the bachelor shenanigans if I wouldn’t have found your site. I think if anything Mike Fleiss should credit you for helping the franchise. I bet many of your readers agree with me that they wouldn’t be watching still if you weren’t blogging. I think it’s hilarious the amount of idiots who post dumb questions to your email… and then the others who will rant about how they hate the way you blog… yet they come back every week for more…. It’s the little things in life that make me smile. Oh, and the way you tweet JLH always has me cracking up and I noticed that you have more followers on Twitter than her! Nice! (Not that you were in competition). Thanks for taking life a little less serious and making it way more fun when the majority of people seem to be doing the opposite!
Comment: You’re welcome. I’m sure JLH appreciates my tweets too. According to her today, 30,000 people respond to her tweets. Which is why I fully don’t expect her to ever respond to me. Anyone thinking that was the point of my re-tweets to her was completely off base.
Thanks for posting the finale spoilers! I can’t believe Holly & Michael won, I really thought most would’ve voted for Michelle and Graham. Anyway, I thought Michael should’ve chosen KEEP but he seems too nice to do that to Holly. Plus they were teammates and all etc
My question is and you probably have been asked this before — but how do you get your spoilers? Do you know people from the show (ie staff from ABC) that anonymously give you spoilers? I remember you mentioning before that you do not pay your sources to get your spoilers so I was wondering how you/it all got started?
Thanks. Great blog.
Comment: I don’t talk about my sources. There’s no point. As long as they’re right, that should be all that matters. Why does it matter where it came from as long as it’s accurate?
Always love your columns. I was surprised and somewhat disappointed to see who won as I was rooting for Michelle and Graham. Given that Holly and Michael won, don’t you think it would have been cooler if Holly had embraced her villain status and chose to keep the whole $250k for herself? After finding out Michael chose “share” she could have ran over to Blake, jumped in his arms, and screamed “I won Michael’s $125k for you!!” while the crowd showered them with boos. Maybe Blake could have even walked over to Michael as if to shake his hand and then kicked him in the groin and gave him the Pedigree. The actual finale seems pretty boring.
Comment: Or, Michael could’ve pulled the biggest “f*** you” in TV history and chose keep himself after hearing Holly had gotten engaged. I think that would’ve been more shocking since you could tell from the show, and by the interview link this column, that he doesn’t seem to have a malicious bone in his body. However, if for some reason he listened to the little devil on his shoulder and actually did that – I don’t think anyone would’ve hated him for it. In fact, they probably would’ve applauded it. That’s how much I think people despise Holly and Blake right now. I’d say sentiment is running 80/20 against them right now.
If ABC were to do a different type of Bachelor show, what do you thing would be interesting? I think that a “Bachelor Mole” or “Bachelor Survivor” type of show might work. Maybe a “Bachelor Next” type of dating show, hell for that one they’d just have to follow them around and film all the shenanigans already happening, they’re already all hooking up with each other… but that would kill any ideas anyone out there might still have that Bachelor is about falling in love for real. Any thoughts?
Comment: I doubt they’ll try and come up with a new concept for the show. Maybe just continue to pump out seasons of “Bachelor Pad” and leave it at that. Next season of BP I’m guessing will feature more of the guys from Ashley’s season (so for you that are interested, start hooking up with chicks from past seasons and attend every reunion you can. That’ll pretty much solidify your spot), women from Ben’s season, a few guys from the next season of the “Bachelorette”, and then your randoms from seasons further back.
I think BP is another reason you can add to the list of why people go on the “Bachelor” or “Bachelorette”. Sure they want to be on TV and get exposure, but BP helps that even more. And knowing that if you attend these reunions, and hook up with people is sure fire way to get looked at for future seasons of BP, you know people are gonna do it.
Love your blog! I just wanted to mention that you said in today’s reader emails that the former Bachelor/ette contestants are not allowed to ever utter, tweet, or mention Reality Steve’s name. I noticed earlier this week that Wes tweeted that thanks to reality Steve, he was all caught up on BP2 without having to watch for 2 hours. He thanked God and Steve.
Just thought you would want to know if you don’t follow him. He gave you a nice shout out!
Thanks for entertaining me!
Comment: That’s because Wes doesn’t give a sh** what producers say to him. I don’t think they care anymore if Wes references me to be honest. It’s the people that are on BP, or people that are on seasons that have most recently aired, or people who have a voice still within the show. Those are the ones they don’t want talking about me. They know they can’t control Wes so they’re not even gonna try. But if someone like, oh I don’t know, Natalie or DeAnna or someone like that referenced me, I’m sure they’d get a phone call shortly thereafter.
