Steve,

My first question is why is the ground at the bachelor mansion always wet? .. Just kidding. I love your column and read it every season. Obviously you have your own opinions about this show and how it operates, I’m curious, if you change one thing about the show what would it be?

Comment: Changing one thing about the show would mean that I would be changing it in hopes that it would produce a more realistic ending, and frankly, I don’t care about the ending. It’s almost better that all these couples break up. Makes it so much easier to write about.

However, if you really want me to think of something that could change the show for the better, I’d say it’d be to allow the contestants to actually be open and honest about what really goes down on the show once they get off it and not muzzle them or give them canned answers to give to the media. The way they protect their show so much because they don’t want gullible America to actually know how it really works is laughable. So that’s what I’m here to do. Just to share as many pieces of info as I can on how this show really works through the numerous things I’ve heard over the years by former contestants. But that’s been my gripe with pretty much all reality shows. There’s a reason none of the previous 500 contestants have ever written a tell-all book about their experience on the show. They can’t. They’ll be sued. Because then the show would be exposed for the fraud that it is.

Hey Steve,

A couple things: First, can you find out what the deal is with crazy Jenna’s “blog”? I checked it out today and it’s obvious this girl is not a blogger—as in makes a living from it. There is still “default” text all over the place and she has only a handful of really short, poorly written entries. (There’s one entry that’s an exact word-for-word SaTC quote… without any citation!) WTF? Did Bachelor producers think no one would notice this?

Second (and this is funny), but when I was in college, my fake ID belonged to none other than Blakely Shea! Ha! The only reason I remember is because, well, it was memorable that my ‘alter ego’ was named Blakely Shea from Rutherfordton, NC. Also, she was 7 years older than me, had blonde hair (I’m brunette) and like 5’7 or 5’8 (I’m 5’2). So thanks Blakely, for helping me get my underage drink on!

P.S. – I forgot to mention she has brown eyes and mine are blue… amazing how long I got away with that one.

Comment: I went on Jenna’s blog (www.Theoveranalyst.net) and frankly, it sucks. Not to mention her site was only created last year. I cannot imagine that’s her full time job. Something tells me her character, and this whole “I’m a blogger who writes about relationships” was all put together by ABC and Jenna is actually a normal girl who just got too sh**faced on night one and is now paying the price.

Wow, what a small world. So some random person who’s never emailed me before used to use Blakeley’s fake ID back in college. I never cease to be amazed by the six degrees of separation this show has.

Is it just me or does Courtney look like Jessica Simpson with brown hair?

Comment: Well, considering Jessica has packed on a few lbs over the years, and Courtney is in desperate need of a cheeseburger, I don’t really see the resemblance. And oh yeah, I’ve never seen Jessica Simpson’s ass, so I can’t make that comparison either.

Hey Steve,

Love your blog, today’s column cracked me up especially the comments about the deformed clapping. Hilarious.

Here’s my two questions:

1) how’d the other columns you have writers for do and which show was the most popular? I think it’s a great idea and I loved the Survivor and Amazing Race blogs.

2) do you think they’d ever do an “all-stars” version of the Bachelor/ette? I know they have Bachelor Pad but it’s be neat to see some of the classier contestants (if you can call them that) come back to the same format.

Comment: 1) I’m happy with what my other writers are doing. People still come to this site mostly for “Bachelor/ette” related stuff, however, slowly but surely, you will see this site become more than that. I’m really wanting to expand more into television, because as we know, the “Bachelor” won’t be around forever. And I’m a huge television buff.

2) I don’t see this happening. These people all date and screw each other outside the show anyway. It’d be impossible to probably put together a cast of All-Stars that HASN’T hooked up or met at some point. Not to mention, it would seem it would completely defeat the purpose that the show is trying to portray.

Hi Steve: I think you have a reader’s email section, but I’m 61 and have poor health and this was easier. First, I wanted to tell you I love your recaps of The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad and the rest of your site as well.

And having lived a few miles from Seaside Heights for nearly 50 years, I find the analysis of Jersey Shore to be so accurate and humorous. When watching that show, (actually when watching any of them), I often refer to my college textbooks from when I got my degree in psychology, and the ones I use most are “Abnormal Psychology” and “Development of the Child”.

My question was: Are you going to do something with the Sweet Home Alabama show? There seemed to be some potential there if you found a writer familiar with that culture. But I guess you’ve received that suggestion before.

Again, thanks for many entertaining hours spent reading your material.

I wish you health and happiness and hope you can continue writing for a long time. (There will always be guidos.)

Comment: Never watched “Sweet Home Alabama” and probably never will. Just not something I’m interested in.

A 61 year old man in poor health tells me he loves my site. Like I said earlier, nothing ceases to amaze me when it comes to my site anymore.

Thanks for the email, and get well soon.

  1. Comment: Yet again, an email I 100% agree with. Everyone is entitled to do their own thing when it comes to what they want to post on their Facebook status, or what they want to Tweet, but I just don’t get the people who constantly are telling us on a daily basis how much they’re in love with the boyfriend/girlfriend, their kids, etc. Look, if you’re in a relationship, married or otherwise, or you have kids, it’s pretty universally accepted that you love them. Why the need to tell everyone every day about it? It makes me think there’s actually something wrong in the relationship which is why they’re reassuring strangers constantly that there isn’t. But hey, that’s just me.

  2. I dvr’d first and second episodes… haven’t watched yet. Ben DOES NOT thrill me! Too much going on right now–NBA lockout is over and I’ve taken on a few new TV shows this year (2 Broke Girls & 2 1/2 Men)–I’ll watch if I get a chance. If not, I feel I haven’t missed much!

  3. Growing on me… I think Steve is right! The fun is in watching the contestants.
For romantic sillies like me (who eventually decide to put on rose-tinted glasses), the first few episodes are almost irrelevant.
I have a lot more pictures on my http://wp.me/P1Pls6-j3 (girls and/or Ben) BTW :) Feel free to borrow any time those that don’t come from here (always credited!)!

  4. He really is such a dork and now he is big man on campus. You know this is oot he has evebeen in his life. He tries a little too hard sometimes.

  5. I thought her name was Diana and she was from Detroit. I found it interesting that they did not chose to run anything from her on the show, no interview, no date etc.
