Still gonna do the live blog on Thursday night (9PM EST/6PM PST) even though I have an early flight out Friday morning. Why? Because it’s a special day. No, not my birthday. And no, although that is the day Emily should be having her first date of her season, that’s not it either. Thursday is the four year anniversary that I adopted Maddie. March 15th, 2008 I was in the parking lot of the strip mall across the street, was actually leaving to go back home, saw that PetSmart had dogs in cages outside of their store, and decided to check them out. I never owned a dog growing up, never really thought about having a dog until later in life, but decided to just go see some of the ones brought over by the Humane Society that were outside. I don’t care if this sounds corny or not, it’s the truth. The second I saw Maddie in her cage, and read the little bio on her, I knew she was the one I had to have. I remember how scared and timid she was to even get out of the cage, but we finally got her out, they let me walk her, then take her inside to “play.” Maddie doesn’t really play. She just cuddles up to you. I remember her getting close to me, letting me pet and hold her as her whole body was shaking from fear, and I knew I could never leave her after that. I told the women at the Humane Society this is the dog I wanted and if she could please do anything she could to pass my paperwork through and let me have her, I’d appreciate it. She did, and here we are four years later. Best purchase I’ve ever made.
Also something I’d like to mention is that I’m going to be in California at the end of the month, and while I’m there, I’m going to be attending the “Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation: LA Dream Date” event at the SLS Hotel. No, I’m not being auctioned off for any dates or anything like that. That’s for the former contestants. I’m going because I happen to already be in town (my fantasy baseball draft is the next day – total dork), looks like a fun event, and I’m a sucker for anything with a silent auction in it (I’m like a ninja towards the end of those things making sure I don’t get outbid). This event is open to the public, you can purchase your tickets for $100 up til March 15th (Friday), or then they become $150. Some of your favorite past contestants will be being auctioned off for dates like Jillian Harris, Dave Good, Roberto Martinez, Michelle Money, Natalie Getz, and Erica Rose. Looking forward to participating and helping a great cause. If you’re interested, here is the link with all the info you need:
Couple things to mention regarding stuff that occurred last night. As many of you have notified me of, a Bentley Williams twitter account last night posted this little nugget: “Taking a lil trip. Bye for now. Wish me luck” which of course has everyone freaking out. Don’t. First off, I’m still not convinced that is Bentley who owns that Twitter account. I’ve been told on numerous occasions he doesn’t have one. Secondly, do you think if the guy was actually leaving to go on the show, he would really type something like that? He’s not even being cryptic. He’s basically just playing with people because he knows when filming starts. If that actually IS his account, and he actually WAS going on the show, he’d never be allowed to tweet that. And last, all the guys arrived in Charlotte on Sunday. Why would Bentley get to come in a day and a half late? None of it makes any sense, and I don’t buy it. IF Bentley does show up on the show this season, I doubt it would be the first night anyway. That seems to be something they would use later on. As I said, if I find out Bentley is on the show, you will know as soon as I do. But I wouldn’t say he’s on the show based on that twitter account. I think whoever is running that account is having fun at the fans expense.
The other development last night came during the ATFR episode where we never saw Lindzi appear. Definitely the first time ever that the final two girl did not appear on the ATFR show. According to Chris Harrison’s blog, Lindzi was at the taping, but they never used her. They wanted to get right into the Ben and Courtney stuff and figured using Lindzi later in the show made no sense. And lets be honest, this season was ALL about Courtney, and that’s who everyone has been talking about since the first promo aired of them going skinny dipping. Lindzi was a background player all season, and even watching last night I found myself asking, “How did she even make it that far? I barely know her.” So it looks like in order for the public to get their “How does Lindzi feel now” fix, ABC appeased her by having her make the media rounds in replace of Ben and Courtney since they are skipping out on all media to focus on their relationship (outside of the People magazine cover this week). Lindzi was on Kimmel last night, and did “Live with Kelly,” and “Good Morning America” today. So not all is lost with her. Not to mention that she definitely could be someone we’ll see on “Bachelor Pad” this summer with the way Chris promoted it in his blog.
And speaking of “Bachelor Pad,” as you saw, I was able to get your Chris’ big announcement yesterday afternoon before the show aired, and that’s that they are going to leave some spots open on “Bachelor Pad” to the public. They didn’t specifically say how many, and I guess we won’t know until the time actually comes, but I think depending on how many they cast will determine how successful it is. Casting 3 or 4 doesn’t seem like it will have that much effect. We all know how cliquey that show is, and basically the more popular ones, and the ones with pre-set alliances are the ones that go far. I don’t know how much impact “outsiders” can have without an even playing field. So unless half are former contestants and half are newbies, I think this idea could fall flat. We’ll see.
