A lot of stuff to get to today, and since there will not be a video blog tonight, I figured I’d cover as much as I could for you. I’ve got some stuff to take care of tonight and am rather busy, so I apologize that you will not have a video blog for the first time in the last 13 weeks. We’ll be back next Thursday which will be the last one before the show starts on Monday the 14th. And yes, we will continue them throughout Emily’s season on Thursday nights at 9PM EST/6PM PST.
Let me first begin by getting this off my chest since it was asked to me a lot this week on Twitter and on email, even though I answered it way back when the show was first announced. The answer is “no,” I will not be covering “Bachelor: Canada,” nor will I have spoilers for it. It doesn’t air in the states so I don’t see why I’d have any interest in covering it. I saw that filming has begun on that show and they announced who the guy was, but I didn’t even care enough to look at a picture of him or check his name. I know absolutely nothing about that show, so if we could keep the inquiries to a minimum I’d appreciate it. I can’t help in any way.
If you didn’t see my tweet from Sunday afternoon, then let me tell you what it said. Chris Bukowski got eliminated at the rose ceremony last Friday night in LA, meaning your final three guys are Jef Holm, Sean Lowe, and Arie Luyendyk Jr. Overnight dates were this week, and for the first time in I think four seasons, as of right now, I do not know where they were headed for overnights and the final rose ceremony before they took off. I’m hoping it comes to me any minute, and it might, but as of now I don’t know. I was told Madrid before the season started, and hell, they might be there for all I know. But I have no confirmation just yet. I’m actually kinda shocked no one on Twitter has seen filming anywhere and took pictures or posted something. So whether I find out in the next few days, or someone tweets something, you’ll know about it soon enough I would assume. They can’t possibly keep it under wraps for 2 weeks. But guaranteed Jef, Sean, and Arie are your final three.
If you saw ABC’s press release about the first episode, they kinda gave you a glimpse of what to expect by filling in the names of some of the guys and what they did. Here’s the snippet:
Emily, 26, a single mom who lives with her six-year-old daughter Ricki in Charlotte, North Carolina, meets 25 potential soul mates as she begins her own search for true love. In the premiere, “Episode 801,” 25 eligible men come from all over to try and win Emily’s heart. Immediately, the drama and the one-upsmanship begin: Emily is hit with a bad case of nerves, but that anxiety melts away as soon as the men start to compete to impress her. Tony makes like Prince Charming and presents her with a glass slipper. Jef, a successful entrepreneur, springs onto the scene on a skateboard. Party MC Stevie shows off his “can’t miss” dance moves. Travis offers a gift with a special meaning for Emily and her daughter. However Kalon is not to be outdone and lands in his private helicopter, much to the chagrin of the other men.
The battle for Emily’s attention and affection has only begun. Once inside the mansion, Kyle, a confident financial advisor, is eager to captivate Emily, but Brent, a single father of six, is busy showing off his voluminous collection of family photos. Chris, the handsome sales director, makes his mark with some custom bobble head dolls. But Arie, a professional race car driver, is nervous to share his career with Emily – fearing that it will remind her of her late fiancé, Ricky Hendrick. And Doug, another single dad, shares a tender moment with the Bachelorette, bringing with him a touching letter from his 11-year-old son.
After Chris Harrison reveals the first impression rose, the tension mounts and sparks fly. Stevie, the brash entertainer, confronts Kalon, the grandstanding wealthy suitor, accusing him of being selfish and insincere. Emily, unaware of the friction between the bachelors, is wooed away by the skateboarding Jef, who exudes a soft-spoken confidence that impresses her. Emily finally offers the first rose to a bachelor who was so charming that it would be hard for any of the men to argue with her choice.
One bachelor could relax, but 24 others are very anxious as the season’s first rose ceremony begins. Finally, Emily will have the 19 men who will move into the southern mansion.
I can tell you now that the first impression rose went to Doug. I guess going to the ol’ “I’ll get her by reading something written by my son card” worked on Emily. Hey, at least he got his first 1-on-1 date in episode 4 (Bermuda), and not episode 7 like our last first impression rose recipient from the “Bachelorette,” Ryan Park.
I can also tell you that Nate Bakke’s name isn’t Nate Bakke. It’s Jeff Maly. Jeffrey Colin Maly to be exact. Nate Bakke is the guy’s stage name, even though this is basically the first “acting” gig he’s ever landed. Growing up he was known as Jeff Maly, and all close friends know him as that.
I plan to have your episode-by-episode spoilers sometime in the next two weeks. Probably won’t be as detailed as in the past, and a lot of it you already know if you’ve been following the site the last two months, but I hope to have all your eliminations and most of your dates laid out for you hopefully by the time the show starts. If not, shortly thereafter.
And a quick shout out to Wes Hayden who released a new music video this week called “My Life.” I’d say I like this better than “Theeeeeyyyyyy saaaaaaaay love, it don’t come eeeeeeeassssssssy.”
Hi Steve – I just wanted to let you know that Nate Bakke’s real name is Nate Bakke. I grew up with him since middle school, and he really is an accountant. I think you’re confused with another contestant.

I’ve known Nate for 10 years and his name has always been Nathan Bakke lol
Oh what do I see in these 25 men, a little diversity. Do you think the law suit has anything to do with that? Who do they think they are fooling, the fans are not stupid. I hope MF has to eat his own words, since he is a lowly snake.

For the past 25 seasons I’ve told you how great I am.
For the past 18 seasons I’ve had the names of the top 25 before they are released by ABC.
For the past 17 seasons I’ve known what color dress the bachelorette is wearing on the first show.
Mike Fleiss really hates me. You can see by what he says that I really get under his skin and he is totally bothered by me. I think he must REALLY hate me and that he thinks about me 24/7. I mean, you can really read hear that I am really someone to him and I am important. I mean really, look at what he said….word for word….this kinda makes me a celeb right? Right? You see it, right?
I think the final four are in Madrid. But if they’re not, they could be in Pakistan. I haven’t gotten the information yet, but when I do I’ll tweet it or put in on Facebook. But if they went to Ecuador I wouldn’t be surprised, but I may get that information later today, but I don’t want to write about it because I need to verify my sources. But if they did have their overnites in Uruguay, I can verify that information at 7 p.m. tonight and then I’ll post it.

I heard about Chris Harrison and his wife seperating as well… I heard that Chris was cheating on her. Kind of funny that a show that wants to help people “find love” and their host is a cheating dog!
JovisMom- who knows, but it wouldn’t surprise me. Didn’t his wife get to travel to most of the places with Chris when they’d film for the shows though? Regardless of the reason, I hope they can remain amicable for the sake of their kids.

@ Caligril – I think you’re right… Steve would always mention that Chris Harrison has the easiest job on TV and that his wife and kids to travel with him and the show. I don’t Chris is that big of a DB to not be there for his kids.
I just looked at the photos of the 25 guys… There is 1 black guy pictured. I’m curious if he maybe is a “fill in” for a guy that dropped out or ABC cut so they can have this as proof that they do not discriminate…

I don’t think he has complete control over the ads that appear on his site. I can tell he has it set up to where ads for websites you recently visited will pop up. I forget what that method is called but it’s pretty common. But you’re right; I have noticed the ABC ads at the top right lately.

@ALS – nothing new with Steve bashing Canadians..it’s old, and it’s stale, and it doesn’t even come close to disturbing us Canadians anymore. He was all over Jillian because she was Canadian..she was never good enough for Steve because she wan’t from the glorious U S of A. @ CaliGirl – That is interesting… After what happened w\ Arie and Cassie thing I didn’t see him ended up as the final one. Sean works for State Farm in Dallas, I have a good friend who also works for State Farm in Dallas, I’ll see if she can do some digging and maybe find out if and when he goes home. By what Steve said filming should be over in the next day or so.
In regards to the final 2…I’m from Dallas and Sean sources supposedly said the date clue is May 9th. If he’s not home by that date he made the FRC. Who knows though. lol
I’m just surprised RS hasn’t even at least tweeted about who got eliminated after the overnight dates. When Chris B was eliminated he had posted it relatively quickly after.
@CaliGirl, he hasn’t tweeted it because he’s still trying to find out if it’s Madrid, or not, or is, or isn’t, or maybe it is, or isn’t.
What’s with the Bachelorette promo ad on this website? I.e., is it a legitimate ad (it bears the adchoices logo), or did Steve deliberately put it there? If the former, what does it mean for the lawsuit (an abc ad for the show would seem to contradict it)?

Steve doesn’t pick the ads that show up on his blog, they are done by ad companies. That’s why the ads change and sometime you see ads for sites you’ve visited before. I wonder if ABC even knows that they are advertising on Steve’s blog. I think it’s hilarious!

For all of these people that can’t stand Steve and the site – Why even come here? I am pretty sure that when I don’t like something or someone I just avoid the situation. I haven’t commented in a while, thought I’d jump on the bandwagon.
I found Steve’s entry about the Arie guy dating the producer chick very informative and that’s the kind of info I enjoy being spoiled. That was actually very good. I love the spoilers, so that’s why I come here. Although lately, I come to read these hilarious comment exchanges when someone that doesn’t have all positive things to say about the way Steve runs his “business” are told to not comment. Steve, or his imaginary “site monitor” obviously read these comments…otherwise this option wouldn’t exist. I’ve seen instances where he has taken the comments and made action…either to change it or piss people off more. One is the donate button talk…haven’t heard him ask for money since his loyal readers-either haters or lovers-discussed it to the ends of the earth.
I don’t mind the site, obviously, because I come here to read it. I still have my qualms about Steve, but he’s a person, guys. You’re not going to agree with everything he says. That’s life, and I’m accepting that instead of getting so irritated about his immature writing and the way he talks to people. I can’t stand his arrogance, or the look of him for that matter (which is why I don’t watch the vlogs). He just hasn’t grown up and is still sophomoric…which is why he’s in his thirties/forties (not really sure how old he is) and is still single and drinks a lot. Just a frat guy that never got past that stage of life. I get tired of his BS and hot-air when he doesn’t have info, someone else spoils it first and he says “I already knew that, but didn’t say it.” It’s hilarious BS and now I just roll my eyes and look for what he actually does know.
I appreciate the feedback from people that like Steve (makes me give him some slack) and I appreciate the people that don’t. If we only spent time with people we agreed with, the world would be a really boring place and we wouldn’t grow as individuals.

@ AM – You make some very valid points… I just feel some people who visit this site are just plan vicious, and say things that are out of line. I don’t know Steve so I don’t know how he is in person. I did ask him a Dr Steve question and his reply was kind and very big brother like. I think these people who say that get nasty emails are just either being to thin skinned or not being very nice in their emails themselves.
I really hope the Chris Harrison cheating rumors aren’t true. As you can see by my avatar, I’m a big fan.
I do remember Rosalyn Pappas saying something rude to him during her season’s WTA about him flirting with someone during filming…. but, as Chris Harrison always does, he professionally maneuvered her attack on the fly by not even dignifying it with an answer one way or the other (I mean, she was the one in the Hot Seat, not him!). I guess we shall see if more information leaks….
Also – I’ve said this many times before: I love going to sites like Reality Steve’s to find more background information / tabloid details on the show contestants. And I especially love reading about follow-up information on the couples and characters after the shows are over…. But I HATE that he spoils the actual episode-by-episode show. I hate it because once he spoils it, it becomes a virus and is spoiled everywhere, so the information becomes unavoidable to read even if you never visit RS. There’s so much RS could do with this site and his resources in good fun w/o having to spoil the actual show as it airs, which takes some of the fun out of watching it.
Also – I agree – his posts are EXHAUSTING to read. I just scan them for keywords relevant to what I might be interested in reading. All the bravado and defensive banter is definitely tiring.
Steve can’t always share the info he learns right away to make sure his sources are protected. He also waits sometimes to get confirmation from multiple sources.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I have been reading all sorts of news from Bachelorette Forums (or whatever it’s called) and they’re claiming that the F1 has already been chosen and that it’s Jef. Other people have said the FRC hasn’t even filmed yet! WHo knows what the heck is going on. I’m wondering if maybe Fleiss and Co. leaked that fake info to this partifular blog to see if RS would run with it too.
There’s got to be a reason why RS has been so quiet; I am hoping maybe he is just checking with his sources to make sure he gives is the correct info. I mean he hasn’t even tweeted out who went home at the F3, when other sites claim it was Arie. That makes me wonder if it’s even true.

Most of the negatives people write about Steve IS just viciousness posted by people whose life is apparently so miserable and unhappy that to bring others down, brings themselves up. They are severely lacking something in their lives, like self-respect. They are full of self loathing and to be pitied and prayed for.
I just love all the psychoanalysis going on in this comment section. I’d be willing to bet my life that less than 10% of the people commenting on the mental state of others have any sort of degree whatsoever in psychology- much less a degree to clinically diagnose another.
For example, missannmcd, do you really truly believe that anyone who says something negative another person must be “full of self-loathing” and “lacking something in their lives, like self-respect”??? You have never thought or said anything negative about another?! Don’t answer that because I know you have! Everyone with a brain has negative thoughts about others on occasion- probably on a daily basis. The problem is, you just disagree with their negative comments. You like Steve. Therefore, you justify saying negative things about the people who disagree with Steve’s way of doing business. So, by your own logic, you must have a life that is “apparently so miserable and unhappy that to bring others down” you must bring yourself up. What is it that YOU’RE “severely lacking” in your life? Maybe the people saying negative things about RS really believe what they're saying. Maybe they really believe he acts like a jerk toward his readers. Maybe they really believe he's tacky to treat his readers with such disdain & then ask them for money. Maybe they really do believe that his columns are increasingly long-winded & lacking content. Maybe it has nothing whatsoever to do with your psychobabble BS, for crying out loud!
@liz123, the funny thing is, they’ll apply their diagnosis to people who criticize RS, but don’t in turn apply the same diagnosis to RS for what he does. those who think they need to come to RS’s defense when he is criticized inevitably throw out the “why even come to this site” — can they not really figure it out?
