The Bachelor Sean Recap Including DWTS Info (Yes, He’s Doing It) & Who’s NOT Gonna Be the “Bachelorette?”

February 26th, 2013 | 178 Comments | Posted in The Bachelor 17 - Sean

A very short week for me. Not column wise, since you’ll get your “Dr. Reality Steve” tomorrow and “Reader Emails” on Thursday, but, I’m on a plane to Vegas Thursday morning for my friends’ 40th birthday. Hence, I will not be too interested in anything “Bachelor” related for four days straight. Essentially, once those spoilers were posted back in November, there really wasn’t much else to figure out this season, and outside of the specifics behind Sarah’s exit, every other spoiler I gave you this season was 100% correct. My “detective” work happens in the two months that the show is filming, and then when the season airs is actually the easy part – which is making fun of the show. So in March thru May when the “Bachelorette” is filming is when I’m piecing all my info together. I’m gathering info on the guys who will be appearing on the “Bachelorette” as we speak. I’ve got four that I’m pretty solid on and a few others I’m still trying to get details about. I’ll release those some time in the next couple weeks. Then I post the spoilers once the season is over and breathe a sigh of relief since a major part of my work is done. This weekend will give me a little breather after going two straight months with three columns a week. Tough work, huh? Hey, I earned it. Watch out craps tables and all blackjack dealers. I’m on a mission this weekend.

In case you missed the announcement earlier this morning, the DWTS cast was announced this morning, however, Sean was not on the list. Trust me, Sean is doing DWTS, but because his show is still airing, they’re going to hold off on announcing him. My guess is they make the announcement during the live ATFR show on the finale March 11th, and his partner will be Peta. It could be sooner, who knows? So I guess you could say I have my first non-”Bachelor” related spoiler ever, but technically, if Sean wasn’t on the “Bachelor” I wouldn’t know about any DWTS casting. I never have in the past. But he’s definitely doing it nonetheless. It’s not speculation, or I’m hearing rumors. This is a certainty, and it makes all the sense in the world for them to want him. His ratings have been the best in 2 years for this franchise, he’s likable, he’s in shape, and there’s a demand for him now. On the flip side, Sean would’ve been an idiot to turn this down considering even if he gets booted on the first elimination, he’s guaranteed somewhere in the 100-125k range. The longer you last, the more you make. Some people will compare this to Jake saying Sean is a famewhore, etc. See, that’s where I think they differ. Jake had an acting background before he ever did the “Bachelorette,” then became the “Bachelor.” And he pretty much told everyone who would listen behind closed doors he wanted to be famous and get into acting, and that’s exactly what he’s done since his show ended. If Sean wanted to act, he’d move to LA, you’d see him hosting TV shows or taking hosting classes. That ain’t happening. He got an opportunity that he’d be an idiot to pass up, so he took it. I can’t fault him for that. What happens after DWTS will determine if he’s seeking fame. This show changes A LOT of people, but by all accounts, I don’t believe he’s after fame. I’ve said for a while now that the “Bachelorette” was Lindsay’s gig to lose, and although of course they were considering others like Desiree and AshLee, all signs since November have been pointing to Lindsay being the next “Bachelorette.” Not anymore. I’ve got it on pretty good authority that Lindsay will NOT be the next “Bachelorette.” So I guess the race is wide open now, since honestly, I don’t know who it is at this point. Your candidates are obviously Desiree, AshLee, Lesley, and Sarah, but I think Lesley and Sarah are waaaaay long shots. I don’t see that happening. My guess would be Desiree based on fan reaction so far of the remaining girls. However, I was pretty certain it was gonna be Lindsay for a while now, and I’m very confident that it’s not. When I hear something about who the next “Bachelorette” is, I will let you know. What I know right now though is that it’s not Lindsay. And no, it’s not because Sean chose Lindsay and the spoiler is wrong. Please.

Both Lesley and Desiree gave interviews with the media last week talking about their time on the show. You can read Desiree’s interview here and Lesley’s interview here. Both interview have links at the bottom to them to Part 2′s of the interview since they came out on different days, so be sure you click those to read the full interviews.

I forgot to tweet out that “Burning Love” released episode 5 on Friday. I apologize for that, so here it is in case you missed it:

Hope those of you who are fairly new to this remembered to DVR season 1 on the E! channel last night. Every Monday night for the next 7 weeks, they’re showing season 1 for those that missed out. If you never watched it, you must. It’s about the best parody show on TV or the internet right now, and it’s not even close.

  1. @Velatria- also I am simply replying to others posts, I have never been scorned, but I know several people that have and I have seen all kinds of situations.

  2. I’m surprised that you are half Asian, serene, the way you trash-talk them it makes me shiver.

  3. @velatria- I am also taking a a race/ethnicity course and my professor is going into detail on what model minorities are :) and it’s very interesting to see how this is very applicable to the media and society.

  4. Okay @iheart and @kasey- i admit I didnt see more than the first episode for his season, I just remember one trashy lady asking him to land his plane on her landing strip. That was when I shut it off and never came back LOL.

  5. Serene, Jake Pavelka’s father was my mother-in-law’s (RIP mom) dentist. I live in the little town where he grew up. I liked him on Jill Harris’s season, but that soon changed post-Vienna. He became a fame w…..re.

  6. @velatria- you are from the Dallas area as well? I noticed that all these recent bachelors (Jake, Brad, Sean) are from Texas. I wonder what it is. Are there so many eligible bachelors there? lol I’m from california so all we got is Ben.

  7. P.S., I never met Jake in person because I never went to the same dentist as my MIL. But when I heard someone from Denton is on The Bachelorette, I started rooting for him and was glad he became the Bachelor.

Then………. It all crumbled down hahaha

  8. I made a drinking game where I took a shot every time Ashlee mentioned her abadonment issues. Needless to say, I got freaking HAMMERED.

  9. A friend of mine used to be Melissa Rycroft’s dental hygenist, I got A LOT of insider scoop from her!…. Yep I’m in Dallas too!!!

  10. My stepdaughters used to cheer competitively and their coach was Makenzie Swicegood for a while (she was a former DCC and had a couple of overlapping years with Brooke, Sean’s ex, and Melissa Rycroft)- she did not have the nicest things to say about Melissa.

  11. Just a couple of things as I’m halfway through reading these comments. First on the show itself, I can totally see why Sean picks Catherine after this last episode. He is more relaxed & natural & goofy around her. My husband & I have been together for over 13 years & the ability to laugh with one another is the only thing that’s kept us together at some moments. I’m not saying Sean & Catherine will make it 13 years, but I can understand the attraction.

Also, I agree with you Goosiegirl in standing up against stereotypes. It is not okay. I can take a joke, but it’s obvious when it goes deeper than that. Rob22 is obviously not a good person. And Serene & Dianne, you are both bat shyt crazy- each for different reasons, but you could both gold medal in it. :D

  12. The only insider scoop I had during Jake’s season was the info about him choosing Vienna even before it was aired in a very hush-hush way. I have no idea about RS then…I also heard from some of Jake’s high school classmates said Jake is a nice guy.

Serene, I noticed that, too! We have more Bachelors from Texas! Yeeee Haaaa!

Jovismom, glad to know a fellow-Texan here. :)

  13. My brother-in-law’s dental hygienist who lives in Austin goes to the PetSmart and the PetSmart dog-lady is Sean’s aunt and Sean’s aunt says Sean is engaged to both Linsdey and Catherine and that Melissa Rycroft’s baby-dady is really Jason Mesnick. Are you people smoking crack or just insane?

  14. I felt that when Sean sent Sarah home before the rose ceremony, it was the meanest thing he could do, because she had to go back into the room, tell everyone she was being sent home and pack up her stuff all while crying and feeling upset.

I thought Sean figured out after the fact how cruel that was. Maybe not. But, why didn’t he just send AshLee home that way? Why even go through the rose ceremony when he told Chris Harrison that he knew whom he was sending home. Why did he not just say, “Go get her now, and let’s get this over with.”???

I agree with RS that AshLee seems to have forgotten that she was previously MARRIED. I would expect her to behave in a more realistic manner than she does. She seems to live in a fantasy land and the other two ladies are fairly well grounded.

Catherine’s Asian? I did not realize that from looking at her. She is a pretty girl, but her voice annoys me. Not that she shouldn’t have the voice that she has, just that it isn’t one that sounds appealing on television. Lindsay’s pretty too, and her voice seems to just have a smile in it. I can not see either of the final two girls being mean or catty with each other, or anyone else.

I also felt that Des handled her brother’s outrageous behavior very well. She showed a lot of class on her hometown. She would make a good Bachelorette.

  15. **jodi arias**
jess, sorry im hoping you see this.. actually, i would start with day 20 bc thats where she goes into detail about her “self defense” claim.. day 21 starts with the cross exam.. everything before that is kind of boring..

  16. liz123 – it certainly was not my intention to come across as “bat shyt crazy”. My apologies. Won’t happen again.

  17. @Dianne- you were fine :) You don’t need to apologize, although I can see why I do. You were within reason :)

  18. Liz123, thanks so much! It’s wonderful when someone sees that any kind of negative stereotype, regardless of history (ie who has a more horrible past) is wrong!

  19. @lucky, thanks for the laugh! That was funny.

Jake Pavelka….are you shi**ing me?! I’m so glad I read that BEFORE I ate dinner. Now Ineed to let my stomach settle a little bit. EWWWW. Maybe now that his less than desirable personality is so well known, it makes him look so much more unattractive. I thought he was good-looking at first too. But, I very quickly started getting some whacko vibes from him.

  20. I really hope that AshLee isn’t the next Bachelorette because I flat out will not watch. She was downright annoying right up to the point that she was sent home and I think she has a lot of issues that need to be resolved before she commits herself to finding love on TV again. If you go back three of four episodes like I did this season, you can start to see her unravel even though she was trying to “open up to Sean”. I might be able to watch if Desiree was to do the show.
