Back tonight with a live video chat at 9:00pm EST/6:00pm PST. One of only two live video chats I’ll have for the remainder of the calendar year, so get your questions in. I’m off next week then back the following week with one final wrap up after the BIP finale. I’m back at home so we shouldn’t be having any technical issues tonight. Remember, Spreecast has gone to a new format, so the videos will only be viewable for 7 days after I post them. Once next year rolls around and I’m back to doing them weekly again, I’ll pay the monthly fee to have them stay up for as long as they can. But in the interim, with only two shows remaining, didn’t feel like it was necessary to pay a monthly fee for a service I’m only using twice more this calendar year. And oh yeah, tonight’s the beginning of college football season, so I’ll apologize in advance for being completely distracted for the whole show. I’m kidding. I’ll pay attention. I think. Maybe I’ll just have the South Carolina/A&M game on in the background. How’s that? Ok fine, I won’t.
You know what I didn’t realize until yesterday morning? This whole time since the beginning of Andi’s season, I thought Chris’ last name was pronounced “Soolz” not “Soles.” I guess it’s “Soles.” Then again, when has the show ever said the guy’s last name? They never said it and he never said it, so I guess when he was announced yesterday morning, that’s the first time we’ve ever heard a media outlet have to report his last name. It was kinda like Ben’s season. The whole time he was a contestant on Ashley’s season, I just assumed he pronounced it “FLAZH-nik” until he was announced as the “Bachelor” and it was “FLANN-ik.” I wonder how many other contestants last names I’ve been mispronouncing all these years?
TMZ came out with this cast wish list yesterday which people mistakenly took as meaning these people were definitely cast for next season. Whether Andi was offered or not, I don’t know. But as I’ve said for months, she’s not gonna be on DWTS. Another TMZ report today talked about the cast, and there was no mention of Andi. She’s not on next season everyone. Just making that clear.
In case you missed it, Marquel put up a blog post yesterday saying how he thinks his race was the reason why he wasn’t the next “Bachelor.” Do I think it played a factor? Sure. There’s never been an African American lead in 28 previous seasons of this franchise, so obviously this would be something new to them. Do I think it played as big a role as Marquel is making it out to be? No. The column is kind of bizarre in that he keeps telling us he’s fine with not being the “Bachelor,” but what he writes seems to make it seem like he isn’t fine with it. If you’re gonna take the time to write a blog post dedicated to why you weren’t cast, seems to me you aren’t fine with it. If he ever wanted to be the “Bachelor” in the future, which it sure looks like he does, I don’t think this is helping his chances. And as good looking and well rounded as Marquel has come across on TV, lets face it, I don’t think he got cast because Marquel really wasn’t great television. I think he comes across as uncomfortable on these shows if you ask me.
