A ton of stuff to get to before today’s recap so bear with me. Two pages of it to be exact. Since a lot of last night’s episode I already covered in Friday’s column, we have a lot of news and notes regarding a bunch of things today. “Reader Emails” and “Dr. Reality Steve” starts up again this week, ratings are in from last night and further proof that this show is a juggernaut and going nowhere, an update on my birthday party in Vegas in a little over 2 weeks, a poll question about Ryan McDill, Kaitlyn being very candid with Ryan Seacrest yesterday, Britt on Kimmel, and a list of who I’m hearing is set to be on “Bachelor in Paradise” this season. Remember last season, throughout the course of the whole show, 25 people ended up appearing. I don’t have 25 people confirmed for this season and probably won’t until filming is over. But I have a pretty good idea that the list I give you today will be people you will see on the show. As we get closer to filming, I’m sure I’ll be adding more names.
First off, in case you missed it yesterday, your episode-by-episode spoilers for this season are now up. Might seem repetitive of me to say that, but do you know how many emails I got yesterday saying, “Hey, where’s the final 4 this season? You usually have them by now?” I’m not sure how any functioning human being can ask that question if they went to my site at all yesterday, but hey, I guess it happens. Every. Single. Season. So in case you don’t want to scroll down one post, there’s the link again to the spoilers for Kaitlyn’s season. Enjoy.
Back with “Reader Emails” and “Dr. Reality Steve” this week. Since everything just got going last night, both mailbags are pretty scarce, so anything you get in today will probably be in tomorrow’s “Reader Emails.” Although we already have a few doozy’s that still blow my mind every season. As for “Dr. Reality Steve” on Thursday, you’ve got two days to get those in. And for those asking, no, Periscope is not going to take the place of the live video chat Thursday nights. No worries. I don’t think I’ll be periscoping again until probably the night of my birthday party in Vegas, and that’ll be pretty short I would assume. Speaking of which…
Less than 3 weeks away now from my 40th birthday celebration at Mandalay Bay on June 5th. I’ve had a few people drop out in the last couple days which opens up a few spots. For people who would need to fly in, if you book a flight and show me your itinerary, you can still get on the list for the party Friday night. Friday night’s party is by invitation only. Those who are on the list already know who they are, but you can still be part of it if you can confirm you’ve purchased a flight out there. We have a beer and wine bar for 3 hours along with appetizers. Not to mention my mother is attending and she wants to do mom things, so be prepared for that. There will be a Bachelor/Reality Steve trivia game where prizes will be given out, so there’s that to look forward to as well.
First come, first serve. Only a few spots left. However, if you are close enough to where you can drive, Saturday night we will be at Mix Lounge on the 56th floor of Mandalay Bay. It’s not a reservation, we don’t have our own table, but that’s where I’ll be that night probably starting at 10:00. Mix definitely isn’t one of these ridiculous clubs that’s asses and elbows and you wouldn’t be able to find us. Get there by 10 and I’m sure you can find me and our party. Shouldn’t be too hard. Not to mention I’ll be in the sportsbook on Saturday afternoon around 3:18 PST to watch the Belmont and see if American Pharoah wins the Triple Crown. So anyone still interested, email me and let me know if you want to come. Also, if you think you can get a flight but room might be too much, I do have 3 rooms left under my reservation at a discounted rate than what you would get right now if you booked on MandalayBay.com. So just let me know if you’re interested. June 4th-June 7th.
Ratings are in from last night, and once again, the show continues to amaze. Shows in their 30th season shouldn’t be doing numbers like this, but it does. Best premiere ratings since 2012 (so better than Andi and Des’ seasons) with 7.2 million overall viewers and a 2.1 in the 18-49 demo. Although Andi’s premiere drew 7.1 million and 2.0 rating, so it’s not like it blew it out of the water. Basically all you really need to take from that article is this sentence: “The Bachelorette won its 2-hour time period among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, key Women (W18-34/W18-49) and Teens 12-17. It was the #1 TV show of the night in Adults 18-34, Women 18-34 and Women 18-49.” That’s basically an advertiser’s wet dream. Good. Means it looks like my job is safe for the foreseeable future.
In case you missed last Thursday, our “Survivor” recapper Bryan Fischer had an
interview with Ben “Coach” Wade that was very interesting. On the heels of the “Second Chance” season’s cast being announced tomorrow night at the finale, Coach has some thoughts on that as well as many other things. Check it out.
Have a couple new poll questions up today, but since we’re only one episode in, I figured I’d get your reaction to the biggest story of last night, and that’s Ryan McDill’s behavior. Sure, the rape comment came out of nowhere, but generally I found it entertaining. Did you? Let us know in the poll question below. Very simple:
Usually Jimmy Kimmel has on the “Bachelorette” the night of the premiere, but since we had the wacky format last night and Kaitlyn isn’t officially announced til tonight, I wanted to see exactly what he’s doing on his show. Tonight’s episode description says he’ll have on the girl that’s eliminated, so Britt will be on tonight’s show. Depending on how much they show of Brady after he eliminates himself at the rose ceremony will then determine exactly how much Britt will be allowed to say on Kimmel. So look for that tonight.
