The Bachelorette 11 - Kaitlyn/Britt

The “Bachelorette” Episode 2 Recap Including What Couples Will Be Appearing on an Upcoming Reality Show?

A good day to read RealitySteve.com. I’m excited for what’s about to come. Of course, you have today’s recap with news & notes including a spoiler two very prominent couples from this franchise set to appear on another reality show. However, at 1:00pm EST today, come back to the site and I will be posting the first 9 minutes of the premiere episode of UnREAL, a TV show premiering next Monday night on the Lifetime channel. UnREAL is a scripted show about the behind-the-scenes of a reality dating show, focusing in on all the people who make the show what it is. Sound familiar? I thought so. I’ve been given an advanced copy and have watched the first few episodes. Trust me, if you like this site and have been reading what I’ve been preaching about reality TV for years, I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy this show. I found myself wanting to watch the whole season in one sitting because I want to see how it ends up. I’m still debating on whether I’ll spoil it for you, but I think you’re gonna want to tune in. Starts next Monday night at 10pm EST, so it’s right after this show airs. Of course I’ll remind you next week, but come back today at 1:00pm EST and I’ll have a post up where you can watch the first 9 minutes of the first episode.

So last night I was given some information that isn’t out there yet, so I figured I’d let you know about it now. If this was supposed to be out there someone would’ve gotten wind of it and ran with it. Until today. Molly Mesnick last week made mention of the fact that she was filming a TV show but she couldn’t say what it was. I’ve been told what it is. Jason and Molly & Sean and Catherine (oh boy, here come the boos and hisses) recently just filmed an episode of “Celebrity Wife Swap” that will air in July. Catherine was filming in Washington last weekend with Jason, and Molly was here in Dallas filming with Sean. If you’re not familiar with the show, it’s just what the title says. “Celebrities” swap wives for an episode and live the other person’s life. No, they don’t live together, but they become their “wife” in their life. Funny thing is, Sean and Catherine have no kids. So exactly how will it be difficult for Molly to go live Catherine’s life in Dallas when for all we know…well…we don’t know what she does. I’m guessing Sean and Catherine appearing on this show will generate an opinion or two from my readers. I mean, did you watch last week’s live chat? I think there were like 4 questions of people obsessed with what Sean and Catherine do with their lives on a daily basis. I don’t know and I don’t care. But a lot of you seem to revolve your lives around it. Well, here’s some more fodder for you. They’ll be on “Celebrity Wife Swap” with Jason and Molly. Taped last week. Will air in July. So there you go.

Josh the stripper sure is making a name for himself for a guy who lasted one episode this season. I showed you the tweets on Thursday where he was calling out Chris Harrison for being unprofessional on set. Well, on Friday Josh took to his Twitter again and is posting text messages from someone at ABC telling him he needs to stop doing interviews and bashing the show publicly. I guess Josh doesn’t seem to care what happens to him, but if you missed it, here’s what he tweeted out:

Now I’m sure you’re asking, “Isn’t he gonna get in trouble for this?” Yes and no. Josh is a one episode guy. Yes, he’s in violation of his contract running his mouth and doing these interviews, but it’s not like he’s really damaging the show with these interviews and dropping major spoilers. They’re not happy, they’re telling him to knock it off, and if he keeps doing it, then maybe they’ll take action. I gotta imagine Josh being a lawyer will eventually stop this because if they want to go after him, they will. I just honestly don’t think it’s worth their time on a guy who lasted one episode. They’ll tell him to stop again, and if he continues, maybe they’ll push it further.

Ok, time for the poll question of the week. With Kaitlyn kissing 6 different guys last night (that they showed us), curious to see if people think that’s a bit much. I mean, you gotta see if there’s a connection right? But do you think she’s going overboard and is it a bit much?

Ratings are being delayed because of the Memorial Day Holiday, so I’ll have them in tomorrow’s “Reader Emails.” Get your emails in today for “Reader Emails” and “Dr. Reality Steve” this week. Still plenty of time.

Chris Harrison did his weekly interview with TVGuide.com talking about last night’s episode. Kupah took a giant dump on Kaitlyn’s evening? Ummmm, ok. Whatever you say, Chris. I’m sure she was over it about 30 seconds after he was gone. As for Kaitlyn, her blog for People.com is now up where she warns everyone you might not agree with everything she does this season. You can say that again.

    Kaitlyn is a ……

Not the girl you wanna marry…bad choice, but better for ratings than Brit.

Juan Pablo had the same kiss count and we called him a douche bag.

Who becomes exclusive after a week of dating? A lot of people Steve. You poor thing, you really do write/talk like a single guy.

The kissing doesnt bother me…especially this early in the “process”. Its a good way to size up if you have any chemistry with someone. Most of the guys are putting on a front anyway, saying everything she wants to hear. So why not make out with all of them and at least keep those around you are genuinely attracted to.

So, the most telling part of yesterday’s episode was when they edited in a scene where Kaitlyn was supposedly peeking in on the guys undressing before the boxing matches. In reality, that edit was spliced in & it was unlikely that it was really Kaitlyn spying on the guys.

Bottom line: she’s clearly getting the slut edit. I’m actually starting to feel sorry for her. She’s really getting thrown under the bus by the show.

Visited today for the sole purpose of seeing if UnREAL was on RS’s radar. Not even sure how I even came across a commercial for it, but needless to say its already programmed on my DVR.

I will disagree that Josh being a “love virgin” is a negative on this show.

Becca rode that horse straight up to #2 last season.

It is crazy to me that this show has little trouble throwing its lead under the bus. After a while, it diminishes your own brand because people will see how stupid it all is. It is a trainwreck and Kaitlyn makes it a must-see view, but after a while, you want to see something other than a trainwreck.

She’s the female version of Juan Pablo…

I don’t see her as a female Juan Pablo at all. He acted like an as*hole most of the time, and one who wasn’t very bright, at that. I’m not saying Kaitlyn is perfect, but I don’t get that vibe at all from her.

Also everywhere I read about how she’s kissing ‘too much’ just makes me laugh. Fans of this show seem to have the memory span of a flea. Every single season is the same: “How can he/she be making out with him/her when 2 seconds ago they were with that one?!!!” Same thing, different season. Plus a lot of the kissing I’ve seen this season the guy has come up to her and either stated he wanted to kiss her, or just pulled her in, what is she supposed to do? Say no thank you? Awkwardly turn her cheek?

I realize based on the season previews many people are going to hyper examine every little thing to death so they can proclaim “See?!!! She’s been ‘promiscuous’ from the start!” But she’s no different in this regard than any other lead, including Sean who did more than his fair share of face sucking with women he knew he’d never be with.

The thing about the slut edit that Kaitlyn’s got so far, is we already know that it gets much, much worse. When Nick Cialis crashes the party (and Kaitlyn keeps him), and when it’s revealed that Kaitlyn sleeps with Nicky V. prior to the Fantasy Suites, the chat boards are going to be a f’ing free for all. It’s a good thing too because the show, so far, is a complete snooze fest. You had drunk Ryan and then Drunk Kupah (aren’t the black guys supposed to quietly disappear?). Other than that, the guys appear to be the tools we all expected them to be. Dumb and Dumber as far as I can tell. Was there really anything interesting about the first three shows, except the drunks and the slut edit?… which weren’t all that interesting either.

Its funny how when contestants don’t kiss up to the lead, and question the lead (instead of trying to develop a relationship) they get booted for being to agitating and annoying. In real life, there is more give-and-take between couples, but the show is exactly like stockholm syndrome, where the contestants have to spend all their time kissing up to the Lead to beg to stay on the show. When they complain to the Lead with jealousy or lack of attention (like Eric or Britt) then the Lead gets annoyed and kicks them off. The winner is essentially the person who plays it safe and annoys the Lead the least. As for Kupah, its funny how they bleeped out Elan’s name (since he is a producer and not cast-member) when Kaitlyn thought Kupah was tussling with Elan in the background. It was funny seeing his gigantic hair through the window.

Being male I prefer Bach to Bachlette, but so far I am even more bored than usual. I fell asleep watching.

Did Britt trademark ” I need to process” , she uses that phrase constantly. Her giddiness at going steady, was pretty amusing. Brady seemed pretty f-ed up, not sure what he is on.

Over under on gay guys this season. I have five, but can’t remember names and do not want to re-watch.

I never realized on tiny Kaitlyn is, is she over 100 lbs?

The whole boxing thing is messed up, pitting guys with so obvious physical disparities is crazy. Oh well, a death or permanent injury will help ratings.

Well the photographer is a GILF, give her that.

Watching the Clint convo had me thinking the same as Steve. His part of the conversion is “yea” or “so am I”.

Yes, on why the heck was so much time given to Kuper. On that somehow the producers think that it is so dramatic that it needs a to be continued.
I can’t wait for BIP, YOPO!

Kaitlyn showed herself to be sleazy on Chris’ season. She hardly needs a “slut edit”. On top of being sleazy, she’s stupid.

Stupid? How do you figure? I thought that she was smart and savvy last night, and I loved that she pulled no punches and dealt with Kupah assertively. So far I’m impressed with her. And I’m especially impressed with her honesty and standing behind her choice to have sex before the Fantasy Suites. Intimacy is a big part of an adult relationship, and if physical compatibility is not there, it’s better to know sooner than later (IMHO!).

Kaitlyn is looking for the equivalent of the brawler on an NHL team. She is a good Canadian girl after all, and she is not looking for a super smart guy, but more of a not super intellectual, salt of the earth guy she can drink with and get her freak on when it suits her. Which is often.

She is fun and great girl to date, But not wife material. At least not yet. She still seems to have too much party in her that she needs to get out of her system.

@serapa, I love how someone who comments 4 times asks me if I have a life.

We get it, you hate Kaitlyn and therefore hate anyone who doesn’t also hate her. That’s some maturity right there.

    May 26, 2015 at 5:20 PM

I like Kaitlyn. I have no problem with her kissing. It’s not representative of real life situations and it is after all, just a kiss.

I think the love virgin is a hottie and seems like a catch.

Steve, you need to throw some more shade at Kaitlyn. Does she remind you of a girl who ignored you?

I’m no Britt fan, but I thought the clip of her and Brady was adorable. They seem like a good match. I also thought his “be my girl” comment was old-fashioned, sweet and a made for tv moment.

…..forgot to add that the Celebrity Wife Swap sounds like a snoozefest. Glad to hear Sean and Catherine are still hustling to make a buck.

@fcew and @vessel I agree, she is not stupid at all. I think people who have their hate on for her are basically just going to be on repeat here with words like skank, sleaze, slut, and stupid. None of which I’d use for Kaitlyn. I think she’s great, so far one of my faves. I don’t care if she kisses everyone, and no issues with her pre fantasy suite sex. Heck, I’m impressed she was able to finagle an opportunity away from cameras!

@punk I’m wondering what you consider wife material? I agree with you that K seems fun and a great girl to date, but is a good wife supposed to be boring and un-fun? I love beer, think I’m super fun and enjoy a good time, and I like to think I’m also a good wife. I think you can be all of that at the same time.

Is anyone who posts here going to Steve’s party?

Brady’s outfit is not unusual. He’s a hipster. Britt dresses that way at times as well. They’re artsy actor/musician types. But man, why do they insist on the cheesy & obviously scripted editing? We didn’t need to see Brady knock on Britt’s door, or even their awkward meeting. We know he left the competition for her. Just show them on a date – yes, the ice-cream part was adorable – with Britt/Brady saying they’re happy the show gave them a chance to get to know one another.

So far, I don’t agree that Kailtyn has been given a slut edit. She is exactly as she was on Chris’ season. Although she was ‘funnier/wittier,’ and that’s probably because we had her in small doses, which is understandable. The comedian praised Kaitlyn for all the reasons people wanted her Bachelorette. Kaitlyn spoke with CH about the kissing and her reasoning. And the guys all keep saying she’s hot and has a great personality. She handled Kupah well. The edit seems favorable to me. Not to mention the word real keeps getting thrown around.

I tend to agree with Steve that there won’t be a huge backlash. That said, I still find Kaitlyn letting Nick on the show disrespectful, especially knowing she’d been in contact with him… and didn’t waste any time having sex. Yea, intimacy is important to her. I get that. But how early do you need to go there? With the other guys just clueless, it looks bad. Wait until you’ve narrowed it down at least. Who knows. We’ll see how it plays out.

I thought the welder was actually funny.

  22. jest002

    May 26, 2015 at 6:25 PM

I think Kailtyn is a guy’s girl, which is what a lot of guys say they want. Until they realize what such a good time could mean. There’s definitely a lot of partying left in Kaitlyn’s system that she hasn’t gotten out if she can’t hold back even for a TV show. I still like her, but I find it immature and ironic. She says she’s a 30 year old woman, but that kind of hookup is what you’d expect out of a 21 year old just beginning to date.

It seems as though they sleep together after their 1 on 1, in Ireland on episode 6. They have their date, at night, at Christ Church Cathedral, and it sounds like it would be an opportunity. So episode 6, when she’s down to 9 guys isn’t immediately. Think about it, they’ve been talking for months, he joined in NYC, then they all went to Texas, and then to Ireland, where he gets the 1 on 1. If it was one of the other guys, I might raise an eyebrow, but this is a guy she has known for months at this point.

Sex? No big deal. Nick? Ew. Disgusting.

So I understood that Josh S the stripper said that he hadn’t even taken the bar exam, so he’s not actually a lawyer. He’s just milking his 5 minutes, which he admits. meh…

I agree, sex no problem, Nick?? eeewww. she must have heard that he has some signature move.

I think the conversation between Hookah or whatever his name is, was the only part of the show I really watched 100%. And maybe he did stuff before the convo that I didn’t see, but am I the only one who didn’t think he was that far out of line? The basic jist was that he wanted to touch base with her because he wasn’t sure about her signals. I wouldn’t put up with a jerk, but I like it when people are straightforward and that’s what I thought he was, with some lost points for a lack of verbal articulation likely caused by alcohol. I would love to see a female on this show who doesn’t get all butt hurt and can actually withstand a challenging conversation.

Vessel….I don’t hate Kaitlyn; I like her and think she’s funny. I also like Britt. I also think that Kaitlyn right now is too free for marriage. Bad choice for a Bachelorette.

And if you look at the history of me posting, this is the first time I’ve posted in about a month or so.

Go get your freak out girl…you so sensitive.

  27. loquacious39

    May 27, 2015 at 8:43 PM

I don’t think Kaitlin is seriously thinking of settling down. I think she is like most guys, competitive, wanting her 15 minutes and out for a good time. So, we haven’t really had a girl like her on before. If she makes a decision to sleep with a guy on national TV, why does she cry about it? The liberals like blurring gender lines and roles Besides, only one relationship has been successful when the bachelorette chooses her mate, Trista and Ryan. They are exceptional people. Since then, the ratings are never as high as The Bachelor, which is way more interesting.

I am in my mid fifties so I think I qualify as having a lot more experience with relationships (3 marriages) and life experience than many of you posters here. I have found that people who spend too much time focusing on others, making judgements and criticising excessively are often envious and shallow and have nothing interesting or fulfilling in their own lives to consume their time. They are “one uppers”. They feel better about themselves when they lessen other people by talking them down. We’ve all done this. It’s a matter of how long does one keep at it. To be so vested in a dumb reality show even to the point of aggression towards other posters surely warrants some needed therapy. Personally, I don’t give two $hits about the lead or the players or the producers. To me, this is simply mindless entertainment that is fun to watch and poke fun at but geez… let’s keep it light. We’re all here for the party. Why should we even care what a bunch of strangers think? I like Kaitlyn. So what. We all have room to grow and improve. Hurry up and make a mistake. You will grow and learn even faster. Peace out.
