Every once in a while (I’d say once every few weeks), I have a “Bachelor/ette” related dream. I guess when it’s your job and you’re constantly writing about it, discussing it with people, and interacting with a few of them, it’s not far fetched to think they’ll be part of a dream on occasion. Some of the dreams are intense, some are sexual, and some are just flat out bizarre. Which brings me to last night. I’ve never communicated with Josh Murray or his brother Aaron in my life, yet there they were front and center in my totally bizarre dream last night. It went down like this: Josh and Aaron asked me to hang out with them and three girls. I agreed. I left to go to the bar with Aaron, and when I returned, my wallet was gone, so were Josh and the three girls, and somehow already I had charges being rung up on my credit cards. I asked Aaron if he knows anything about this and he says, “Yep. We did this on purpose. We needed to buy a couple things and figured we could use your cards.” And that was basically the dream. Hey, I never said these made any sense, but if you’re one of those weirdos who dissects dreams and thinks they all have some sort of meaning, have at it.
Man they really hyped up that GMA performance yesterday morning didn’t they? For what? They never even showed the trivia game that they all played. Maybe that was saved for online or something. But basically it was just those 9 alumni talking about the show and saying the same things we’ve heard for years. I guess the only confirmation we got was that Marcus and Lacey’s wedding will be shown during the BIP 2 premiere this Sunday (with Marcus sweating like Roberto in Tahiti), even though the episode 1 press release never makes note of it. And also that Marcus has left to join the Coast Guard, so right after they got married, he leaves for months on end. Gotcha.
Speaking of GMA (sort of), I appeared on the local “Good Morning Texas” show to talk about the finale. For the record, I was knocked out cold all weekend with the chills, a fever, and blowing my nose constantly. Feeling better today, but I think I look like holy hell. Enjoy nonetheless…
In case you missed Thursday’s live chat, last week’s Tuesday column I had mentioned that Michelle and Cody had left to film a couples show but I didn’t know which one it was. I knew “Couples Therapy” had already filmed and it wasn’t that, and we know that Sean & Catherine filmed “Celebrity Marriage Boot Camp” and they weren’t on that cast. Little did I know, “Celebrity Marriage Boot Camp” films seasons back-to-back, and I was informed that’s the show Michelle and Cody will be on. So we’ll get a “Bachelor” couple on the next two seasons of “Celebrity Marriage Boot Camp.” Yippeeeeeeeee!!!!
As for other show’s that have “Bachelor” couples appearing on, Jason/Molly & Sean/Catherine’s episode of “Celebrity Wife Swap” airs this Wednesday. I know these shows are scripted and scenes are totally made up, but lets hope for Sean’s sake he really doesn’t write out a list of things that Catherine needs to do every day while he’s at “work.” You know, like ironing his pants and socks, etc. Can he not do that himself? Or take them to the cleaners? Here’s a clip from Wednesday’s episode. And yet another where Sean doesn’t seem to be doing a great job of abiding by Catherine’s manual of instructions. Oh boy.
Also I mentioned in Thursday’s live chat, that beginning next week, the columns will remain the same. Tuesday’s will be a recap of Sunday & Monday’s night’s BIP 2 episode, Wednesday’s will be “Reader Emails,” and Thursday’s remain “Dr. Reality Steve” with a live video chat on Thursday nights. BIP 2 only goes for 6 weeks, so once that is over, I’ll probably take a week off then we start back up with “Daily Links” along with spoiling the “Bachelor” as it films September through November. Even though final casting isn’t for another 2 weeks in LA, I’ve already got a few girls that I’m pretty sure are gonna be on the show. But those won’t be released for a while. I’ve been working on “Bachelor” stuff for the last month and I will keep you updated with news that I hear.
As for the next “Bachelor,” obviously if you watched the ATFR it wasn’t announced. They’ve never had a set time on when they announce the “Bachelor.” For Juan Pablo’s season, he was announced at Des’ ATFR. Chris last season wasn’t announced til Aug. 27th on GMA. So it’s anybody’s guess as to when the next “Bachelor” will be announced. Yes, I’ve heard all the rumors of Ben H. and Tenley getting all cozy in Denver. Yes, I’ve seen his tweet about his charity work in Honduras in September. None of that changes anything. I haven’t heard anything different in regards to what I reported about him being the next “Bachelor.” Lets not forget, a couple years ago Sean hooked up with Jenna Burke when he knew he was set to be the “Bachelor,” so any flirtation/hooking up/dating Ben may be doing with anyone in the “Bachelor” franchise in the meantime doesn’t mean all that much. Just speculation to get people talking.
Ratings are in from last night and the show did its best “Bachelorette” finale numbers in 2 years, drawing 8 million viewers, but even more key, a 2.4 in the 18-49 demo. Andi did 7.4 million and 1.9 in the demo last season. One thing I was surprised at was the ATFR basically did the same # of viewers with roughly 8 million, but kept the 2.4 rating. The show is a juggernaut and isn’t going anywhere, which is music to my ears.
Chris Harrison’s Yahoo blog is out where he basically says nothing of importance. However, Kaitlyn and Shawn’s People Magazine cover shoot, which hits newsstands tomorrow, was released online today. Yep. Basically no different than any other cover. “He was always the one,” “We’re in love,” etc. We know the relationship “officially” starts today. Getting engaged on TV means nothing. Lasting is what matters. Also, “People” has an exclusive with Nick in regards to how he felt getting dumped. Again.
Nell Kalter’s RHOC recap is now up for your viewing as well, and let me just say, it’s a good one. Even though I don’t have a clue who she’s talking about, it still makes me laugh.
So last night on Jimmy Kimmel, Kaitlyn and Shawn addressed Snapchat. And it was exactly like I told you. She did it by accident, ABC was pissed at them, and that’s why the next day we saw them in different cities. Shawn said he was picked up 30 minutes later and taken away, essentially to try and cover for what they knew was a blown spoiler. Here they were talking about it in case you missed it:
Of course, then there’s the whole ABC side of it who still refuses to acknowledge it. For obvious reasons, because it makes it seem like they lost control of their season, and God forbid they do that. They couldn’t address it at the time because they knew the ending was just given away. They weren’t gonna say, “Nope. Means nothing.” Because that would just be a lie. And they couldn’t say, “Yep, she just gave it away,” because they don’t acknowledge spoilers. So they just say no comment and move along. Snapchat came out 6 weeks ago and they still drew 8 million and a 2.4 rating. In the end, do you think they really care? All this keeps proving time and time again every single season, is that spoilers do not affect the show. Never have and never will. If anything, they have a positive effect.
Now that the season is over, time to weigh in. How long are Shawn and Kaitlyn going to last? Go!
