Over the last couple months, a lot of you asked me if the “Right Reasons” podcast was going to continue with Juliet and Jacoby, now that Grantland.com was shut down. At the time I didn’t know, but had a feeling it was probably done. At least on a weekly basis. Bill Simmons, formerly of ESPN and now under contract with HBO, has started up his own podcast network, appropriately titled the “Bill Simmons Podcast Network.” Among some of the staffers who worked under him at Grantland that he brought over his network was Juliet Litman, who has her own podcast on “Channel 33,” a podcast under the “Bill Simmons Podcast Network” that you can subscribe to. She’s been doing a podcast under “The Juliet Show,” but now with the “Bachelor” in season, she’s going to be doing a Tuesday podcast called “Bachelor Party,” and yesterday was her first episode. She invited Bill and me on. Not at the same time. Because if she did, there might have been a giant fangirl moment over here. Without ever having spoke to the guy, he’s basically done more for this site than he can possibly know. I’ve been reading his columns for over 10 years now and his stuff was the reason I even began writing as a hobby. So a quick shout out to Bill for indirectly being a part of what I do here at RealitySteve.com without even knowing. But just to be clear, Juliet’s “Bachelor Party” podcast is going to be a weekly thing on her end, but I’m not some sort of co-host. She just asked me on for yesterday’s episode and maybe we’ll do it again in the future.
You can listen to all of yesterday’s podcast here. Bill is on for the first 35 minutes, and I’m on for the last 35 minutes.
Also yesterday, AwfulAnnouncing.com did a piece on me regarding my background in radio and where I am now. Very cool to be recognized by them as I read that site constantly. Was pretty shocked to see that yesterday.
Nell Kalter has your RHOBH recap up to view now and, wait, did this season just start or is it coming to an end? I continually lose track of these franchises, and now with 2 more coming (Potomac & Dallas), I’m sure my head will explode at some point.
Yesterday I also made my bi-annual trip in studio with the “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” show here in Dallas to talk about the “Bachelor” premiere. Check it out:
Wanna thank the Dallas Morning News today for taking the NY Times piece written last week, editing it down, and putting it in today’s paper. Different picture, but the same story with a few paragraphs and other words taken out for space. Now I gotta buy me a copy or two.
This ran in December and I think I re-tweeted it, but if not, better more people see it now anyway. It was an interview that Sharleen did with Kaitlyn regarding her season. For all those who really want to know what Kaitlyn thought about how she was portrayed, I think this was the most candid I’ve heard her. And she pretty much confirms what we’ve come to expect about how manipulative the producers can be. What’s funny is, going by that interview, you can tell Kaitlyn was not happy at all about how the show exploited the sex with her and Nick. Yet, there she was Monday night when they came calling asking if she wanted to be on “Bachelor: Live.” So obviously she wasn’t too bothered by it. Unless she’s contractually obligated to appear on their shows as long as they’re still together. Would be interesting to know.
Don’t forget your “Dr. Reality Steve” emails to get in today as that column will return tomorrow along with the first live video chat of 2016 tomorrow night at 9:00pm EST/6:00pm PST.
