The Bachelorette 8 – Emily

“Reader Emails,” Ratings News, Clips from Monday’s Episode, and This is Your Life, Arie Luyendyk Jr.

More ratings news to start with. As you read last week, Emily’s premiere episode got 8.2 million viewers. This week? 7.7 million. So any talk that Emily’s season was gonna blow previous seasons away was nonsense. However, that number will rise the rest of the season and probably hover in the mid 8 millions, with the finale reaching probably close to 9 million or so. The second and third episodes are usually a drop from the first because the average viewer checks out the first episode because they want to see all the contestants, then they go away from the show for a couple weeks because there’s still too many guys left and they don’t know who’s who. Then once the numbers start dwindling down, they tune back in again. Happens every seasons. All ABC cares about is winning that Women 18-54 demographic, which they did once again this past Monday. Overall viewers is nice and fun to compare to previous seasons, but it’s not the determining factor … Continue reading

The Bachelorette Recap: Wait, There is No Love Clock?

Emily started making the rounds this week on the talk show circuit and, wow, she’s been coached well. From her conference call, to her local appearance on Charlotte TV, to “Good Morning America,” to “Live with Kelly,” to Jimmy Kimmel, this chick has the same canned answers nailed down. I don’t even know why people are bothering to ask her questions anymore. She’s programmed to say the same things in every interview. Here’s some of the repeating phrases I’ve heard, “I was happy before the show and I’m happy now,” “I learned a lot about myself in this experience,” – the list goes on. But you know what else she’s repeated a couple times? That when she saw the guys the first night, if this were her “normal life,” she probably wouldn’t have given them a chance. Yikes. A little harsh no? And she keeps reiterating that she’s glad she went through with the process because, essentially, none of these guys met her criteria based on their first … Continue reading

“Reader Emails,” “Dr. Reality Steve,” & Brad Womack Speaks

Ahhhh, so in high school, he was Jeff with two “f’s,” but once he became a big boy and riding skateboards wearing jean jackets, he took off one “f.” Got it. That was Jef’s 9th grade picture from Pine View High School in St. George, Utah. Quite the looker. At least the bouffant hairstyle hadn’t emerged yet. I guess he just figured it’d look cooler in 2012 when he was CEO of a company. I see.

Few things to get to today before the “Reader Emails,” and “Dr. Reality Steve,” which are on the lighter side this week. Reminder tonight I will be back with another live video blog at 9PM EST/6PM PST talking all things “Bachelorette.” Don’t have the episode-by-episode spoilers yet, and I’m really contemplating how important they are at this point. Why? Well, when ABC issues a press release every Tuesday of the upcoming episode, they basically tell you everything that’s going to happen outside of who got the group date rose and who … Continue reading
