The Bachelorette 4 - DeAnna

The Bachelorette Finale Recap – 7/7/08

-For those of you that are familiar with the column, you know I don’t do a regular recap of the finale. It’s more a summary of what we saw throughout the course of the season and comments about the end result and eventual failed relationship we’ll be hearing about soon enough. I expect nothing different this season. This season has definitely been a bit different than past seasons in that, I’ve never heard so many rumors about the finale, what’s true and what isn’t, and how many different scenarios we’ve heard of what really went down. Here’s what I know. I was told over a month ago that the final four were Jeremy, Jason, Jesse, and Graham. I was also told with 100% certainty that Graham went home after the hometown dates, and Jeremy after the overnight dates. I was then told that Jason was DeAnna’s final pick, but that’s wasn’t 100% confirmed. Although, after hearing it was him, I watched the rest of the show thinking it was him in my head and wrote accordingly. I didn’t really understand why she’d pick him since logisitically, it didn’t make any sense for her – someone who constantly reiterated how important being close to family was yet picking a guy with a 3 year old who lived in Seattle. So I always was skeptical in the back of my mind why she’d pick him. I didn’t care either way, I just didn’t think it made much sense.

-I do believe ABC went out of their way this year, more so than in others, to lean the editing heavily one way. Based on how each of them was edited, they really wanted to make everyone think Jason was getting picked. I mean, Jesse didn’t kiss her til the hometown dates, the guy admitted to his dad he wasn’t ready to get married in two weeks, and now we’re supposed to believe they’re madly in love, engaged, and ready to get married next year? Then last night, we see that he’s nervous around the family, the family is totally sold on Jason before Jesse, on and on and on it went about how Jesse isn’t her type, and Jesse isn’t someone the family really saw her with, yada yada yada. They laid it on pretty thick that it was gonna be Jason and as the show was going on last night, it became more and more obvious it was Jesse for the sole reason they’d never give it away that easily.

-Some of you may have heard the numerous rumors being thrown out there about this season. There are tons of them, and I was going to write them all out and you could pick and choose which ones you believe and which ones you don’t, but honestly, I don’t even care at this point. Let me tell you something: Do you realize how easy it is to start a rumor on a message board? All you have to do is sign on under a lame screen name, have the title of your thread be “I KNOW WHO SHE PICKS….”, then in your post, talk about how you know someone very close to someone on the show, and make up a whole bunch of stuff that sounds like it could be legit. People will start believing you, trust me. So it does get kinda difficult knowing who’s telling the truth and who isn’t. If you go to certain boards right now and look back at past posts, there are people that will swear up and down that DeAnna picked Jason. And there are those who swear she picked Jesse. Well obviously, only one of them is right. I just don’t know why people feel the need to run to message boards to post things. Anything I hear, I tell my friends that are interested in the show. I don’t need to run to a message board to convince a bunch of people I don’t know. I don’t get it.

-I hope people who heard their was a “surprise” in the finale could see that it was Jeremy returning. First off, ABC’s press release last week promoting the 2 hour finale and “After the Final Rose” show stated that a “rejected Bachelor returns to make DeAnna’s decision more difficult”. Well, if Jeremy got eliminated in the Grand Bahamas, and the Final Rose Ceremony was taking place in the Grand Bahamas, and when you reach the final three, the guy who gets eliminated (in this case Jeremy), doesn’t get to go home until they’re done filming, well then of course it was gonna be Jeremy. They probably needed time to kill and told him, “Hey, go tell her she’s making a mistake and to take you back – we’re short about 10 minutes of film”. So needless to say, there was zero suspense when Jeremy returned and pleaded his case to take him back. Ummmmm, we saw Jason and Jesse at the Final Rose Ceremony in the previews last week. How is what Jeremy says going to have any effect on that? Dumb. I thought it made Jeremy look worse. Of course, one of the rumors floating around is Jeremy was tricked into doing that. Wouldn’t put it past them. Wouldn’t be the first time and most certainly wouldn’t be the last. And apparently Jeremy isn’t that distraught over DeAnna since other rumors have him canoodling with Chelsea in recent weeks. I guess that whole “lean-against-a-tree-get-down-on-my-knee-and-cry” deal over DeAnna has kinda passed, don’t ya think?

-One thing I found interesting about the finale was the gift that each guy got for DeAnna. Jesse went with the standard “book of pictures”. Hasn’t every guy made that for a girl at some point in his life? I know I have. Although, when I gave it to her, I didn’t sit there and read it to her like she was a 3rd grader. Sorry. I thought Jesse’s gift was boring and unoriginal. However, I actually thought Jason’s gift was kinda neat. Call me cheesy, but at least some thought went into it. It was creative, he actually took more than 5 minutes to make it, and it seemed genuine. I give him points for that. I usually always feel sorry for the final person who gets dumped on this show (well, except for DeAnna), and it was no different last night with Jason. He actually seems like a good guy. I still don’t know why he’d choose to leave his son for 6 weeks to go on a reality dating show, but whatever. I think most people, whether they were a fan of Jason or not, had to feel sorry for the guy last night. That was brutal. Letting him get down on one knee about to propose and then telling him no? Ouch. DeAnna said “everything happened so fast”, well, what we saw was he got up to the podium, and before anyone spoke, within five seconds he was on his knee. Is there a reason DeAnna didn’t start speaking right away and lay it all out there? Maybe she didn’t know he was about to kneel down, but then again, he wouldn’t have kneeled down if you’d already told him you weren’t in love with him.

-And didn’t you find it a little bit strange that Jason asked DeAnna’s dad for her hand in marriage the first time he met them, Jesse didn’t, and DeAnna’s family made a big deal out of that fact? Then what happened? The very next time he saw them Jesse asked. Something tells me Jesse had no intention of ever asking her father for permission, probably because he didn’t know any better, but he was told, “Hey, ummmm, buddy, if you want to propose to this chick, you might want to ask her father first. Kinda the right thing to do.” I just found that all too convenient that he didn’t do it at first, there was a big discussion about it, and Walla!, he does it in the next scene. Remember, the show has a story to tell. I’m guessing that was part of it. All a little too convenient for me.

-The “ATFR” show was interesting because, well, it was taped last Tuesday. Outside of family, everyone in the audience was a paid attendee that was sworn to secrecy. But obviously, it’s impossible that every single person who attended would keep their mouth shut. So that’s how things get leaked and that’s how on Wednesday, the original information I had of her picking Jason changed to Jesse. Kinda hard to dispute someone who attended the taping and I no reason not to believe what they were telling me. But there’s always that 1% in the back of my mind that thought they could’ve been making it up. So yeah, any speculation up until the taping of the “ATFR” was just that – speculation. But after that show was taped last Tuesday, that obviously had the outcome open to the public, no matter how hard they tried to keep it in.

-I didn’t understand Host Chris telling DeAnna and Jesse’s family last night, “This is the first time you’ve known your children are engaged”. Huh? First off, DeAnna said last week on the “Men Tell All” she was happy and engaged. I’m sure they watched that. And secondly, if they’re flying Jesse’s family out there for the show, wouldn’t that be kind of a hint? I guess technically they could’ve flown his AND Jason’s family out, and they had to watch the finale there to see which of their sons got picked, but since they never showed us a shot of Jason’s disappointed family, or elated family if you want to look at it another way, then I just assumed Jesse’s family was the only one there and they obviously knew beforehand. Please. DeAnna even said last week in an interview that her and her “fiance” talked all the time, and were able to meet up a few times in private for weekends together. Would Jesse’s parents really be that naive to think that he wasn’t going to see DeAnna? C’mon. They knew. As probably did most of his friends.

-Matt and Shayne are still together. Yawn. If any of you think that those two are ever walking down the aisle together, you’re nuts. No way is that happening. I think I’ve already explained myself on this one numerous times so no need to again, but just don’t ever get your hopes up for those two. They just seemed like a couple who met a couple weeks ago. Nothing about those two’s appearance last night made me think they were interested in getting married. Maybe it was the fact that he’s a skinhead now. Or that Shayne had on another god awful outfit. Or that they weren’t mounting each other the whole time like DeAnna and Jesse (more on that in a second). Not counting Shayne and Matt and DeAnna and Jesse, this show is 1-for-14 in producing a married couple. I think I’ll stick with the odds on this one and say it’s not going to happen. Andrew Firestone got married this weekend. Just not to Jen Scheft. He married the chick he met at the Playboy mansion who likes flashing her cans in movies. Her career is goin’ places. So congrats to those two. I’m sure they’re destined for a life of happiness til the end of time. Well, at least until he finds himself another Playboy bunny.

-My final analysis on Jesse and DeAnna, or as we should now call her, DeAnna Marie Csincsak. Enjoy that last name. For those that are thinking, “Wow. They really seemed to be in love last night”, let’s not forget, EVERY couple that’s ever appeared on the “After the Final Rose” show has looked happy and in love. And none of them have worked out. Because it’s the “Bachelorette”, and because I do think the women on this show take it a little more seriously than the guys, I think Jesse and DeAnna might last a little longer than our normal couples do. But not much. I still don’t think these two will get married, have three kids by the time she’s 30, and stay married “forever”, like both of them are claiming. It’s not me being cynical, it’s me being realistic. Unless ABC decides to televise their wedding like Trista and Ryan (which is a definite possibility), then they’ll go through with it – and then get divorced within a few years. The more they kept telling each other how much in love they were over and over and over again and kissing for the cameras makes me think it’s all that much more fake. It was like they were trying to prove a point to us. Really? Do you really need to show us every four seconds that you guys like each other? Thought that was totally unnecessary and over-the-top. Definitely seemed like they were trying to convince America right then and there, “See, we’re affectionate and tell each other ‘I love you’ so much, it’s destined we’ll be together forever.” Ok. You keep convincing yourselves of that. I’ll just continue to be skeptical. My approach with these two is no different than in any of the previous 15 seasons, and that is: I’ll believe it when I see it. They can say how happy and in love they are now, but wait until they begin to have a normal relationship and the cameras are off. Then we’ll see if they’re telling each other “I love you” every 1.9 seconds. God that was nauseating. Anyway, raise a glass to the new Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and DeAnna Csincsak. For now, at least.

UPDATE: I figured I’d mention this since many of you have emailed this since last night. One of the main rumors going around about this season is that DeAnna actually chose Jason, changed her mind, and the Final Rose Ceremony had to be re-shot. Now, even for a show as low as this, that seems like something awfully ridiculous to do. But then I started getting emails in the last 24 hrs telling me to go back and watch when DeAnna rejects Jason. The flowers in the background were changing colors scene by scene. And not because of camera angles, but because they were literally different colors and different bouquets. Here’s what I noticed, and you will too if you go back and watch:

-When Jason get out of the limo and is walking up the path to see DeAnna at the Final Rose Ceremony, there’s a bouquet of white flowers to DeAnna’s left and right. In the very next shot of him greeting her and giving her a hug, those bouquets are now two bouquets of pink flowers. Then the very next shot is a wide shot of them, and its back to two white bouquets.

-When Jason bends down about to propose, DeAnna says “No, I can’t”, yet you can’t see her face, and the voice sounds like it’s dubbed in. To the average person, this may not seem like much or it may not seem dubbed in at all, but having worked in sound editing before, this is definitely something that, unless you know to look for it, you wouldn’t notice it. I’m 100% convinced DeAnna did not say “No, I can’t” live at that moment to Jason.

-Throughout the whole time Jason is on the podium with her, if you watch the background, the flowers keep going from white, back to pink, back to white, and so on. And at the very end, when they do the same exact aerial shot of them hugging, what was once white bouquets on each side of DeAnna when he walked up, is back to being two pink bouquets.

What does this all mean? Maybe nothing. They do re-shoots in reality shows all the time. Maybe the microphone didn’t pick up certain sentences, maybe the wind blew DeAnna’s hair in her face, which is all possible. My only question is, why would the background flowers need changing unless it was shot on a completely different day? A re-shoot done an hour later, two hours later, 10 hours later, whatever, would still have the same set. What would be the point of changing out the flowers unless it was done on a different day? Maybe we’ll someday get an answer to this, maybe we won’t. You make your own judgment. I just figured I would present you with some evidence which may suggest what you’re seeing isn’t what’s really happening. Yet again.

-Keep checking back to the site periodically for updates, “Reality Roundups”, and “Dr. Reality Steve’s”. I promise, they’re coming. Probably gonna take a week or two off, but I’ll be back soon. Any questions, comments, queries, praises, criticisms, marriage/sex/love/relationship issues you have, feel free to email me at steve@realitysteve.com. Until next time…..

I want to know if Brad got some kind of royalty ever time they mentioned his FREAKING NAME on this show!!! Not only was it coming from Deanna…..but last night, we got to hear from her whole scarred family about Brad. Cripes.

I am still stunned that she picked Jesse. I mean comeon now. I know ABC lets us see what they want us to see,but talk about zero chemistry together. I just do not see it. Heres hoping it was edited out i guess.

I just knew you would’ve counted how many times she referred back to “BRAD” and you didn’t. I may have to re-watch and count for you!

RS, were you as disturbed as I was at the number of times that Brad’s name was mentioned in this three hour time period? My god, he didn’t like you. So what. She can’t let anything go, can she? Even when she said she felt empathy for Brad in the AFR segment, you could tell she really didn’t mean it. Poor Jesse…let’s hope he never does anything to make her mad. She will never, ever let him forget it.

What was up with Deanna becoming a mute when the guys came to the podium? Even though they are proposing, i thought she would have to speak first….you know, to save the guys provide before he went down on one knee. Ooops.

    or save their “pride”.

Yeah, why did she let them do all the talking on the podium.
YOU are the star of the show, give them a clue about how you feel before they start blathering on and proposing. That was rude.

I completely agree with the whole paragraph about ABC leaning the editing one way. Jesse was a good guy, but I agree with comment #2. I was rooting for Jason (like 90% of the people I know) and was verrrry disappointed.

I think Jason is too good for her actually, and I’ll bet you 10 bucks he’s the next bachelor. After all, he’s “ready to love again”. That was reiterated a lot.

I’m surprised there’s not a tally of how many times “breakin ma heart” was said in the finale.

Also, I like how when Matt and Shayne were asked about their future, she said “traveling”, not a wedding date. Ha.

My daughter in law and I watched this crap last night together. My DIL said – “isnt that the guy with the ugly jacket from the first night???” Yep! thats the one, I said. I cannot tell you how – or maybe I can – how awful/painful this season was to watch. If it were not for your Tuesday Review – I would’ve let this one go. Now I hear that Paula Abdul’s X is the next bachelor!! God in heaven – are there no adorable single guys out there without a history???? You know, I would love to see Jason, Graham and Jeremy all on a show at once with all the girls rejected from past seasons. Not to find a bride but just to have a great time and trashtalking their seasons!!!!! How about that??? At least that would be interesting. Love to Maddie!

    🙂

Even more nauseating than the ILYs and smooching every 1.9 seconds was the way Deanna kept whining “Huunnneeeee”. I was tempted to throw my TV out the window. Poor Jesse… stuck with a chick who is not the least bit “Rad!”

    Steve,
What are your thoughts on the rumors that Jason will get his own “Sleepless in Seattle” version of the Bachelor?

Gee, Steve, what happened to your hilarious commentary that I so look forward to reading? This post just sounds angry and bitter. Bring back the funny!

  12. Nick

    July 8, 2008 at 11:13 AM

The whole Jeremy thing was annoying. Is there any doubt that he is auditioning to be the next bachelor? I think the likelihood is high that either Jason or Jeremy will be the next bachelor. Jason has the leg up because of his kid. Jeremy was trying real hard to move up the ladder with his “hopeless romantic” routine.

Also, Jason had a nice dig in the ATFR when he mentioned the way Deanna looked at Graham. That was awesome. Take that pot head!

    July 8, 2008 at 11:24 AM

Reality Steve… why have you turned so bitter this season? I used to love reading your sharp and witty comments. You were always ready to make fun of the crazy’s on this show and point out the obvious in a hilarious fashion. Now your column has become a forum for you to gripe about how fake the show is. We All Know It is Fake!! At least make us laugh about it…. I’m sad 🙁

  14. Chris

    July 8, 2008 at 11:29 AM

I watched the ATFR just to see Jason grill her. Am I the only one who wanted to tape Deanna’s mouth shut so he could ask her the questions she didn’t want to be asked. She yaps more than a poodle.

  15. Shelley

    July 8, 2008 at 11:39 AM

Me too, Chris. I was wishing both Jason and Jesse would have confronted Deanna about how just before she “fell in love” with both of them, she told Graham he was the ONLY one there she was “falling in love with”.

  16. Dianne

    July 8, 2008 at 11:42 AM

my thoughts. She picked Jesse so she would have 100% full control of him. She’s going to get 100% of his attention, and if she doesn’t, he’ll be done like dinner. Whereas with Jason, she knew she’d be second for everything because of Ty, which is definately NOT cool for DeAnna. So..I don’t deny she has feelings for Jesse, but at the same time, she knows she can control and manipulate him any way she wants..and Jesse will bend with the wind. She’s a spoiled, whinny brat!

From this point on, I’m going to just have to read your column and figure out what happens on this show. Fact is, I’m done. The entire season was a farce (other than your recap, of course!). Does Fleiss honestly think his viewers want to be surprised at the end? What kind of a dumbass is he?

Jason got lucky. DeAnna bugs me. Let Jesse have her – after all, he won’t be too choked up when it ends.

After their wedding announcement, here’s the conversation between me and my husband (who’d probably want me to mention that he wasn’t even in the room, watching with me):

Me: “That’s going to be expensive.”
Him: “Oh, ABC will just pay for it!”
Me: “I mean the divorce. Divorces are expensive.”
Him: “Oh, ABC will pay for that!”

Now excuse me while I go replace the gauze in my ears, which are still bleeding from hearing “HUUUNNNNEEEEEEE” far too many times last night. She is awful. I could go on and on.

Did anyone else notice that Bevin was in the audience? I swore that I saw her with darker hair. They panned her pretty often (but quickly). I thought that maybe she was there since Jason was her friend (or bridesmaid or friend of his ex).

  20. jen

    July 8, 2008 at 12:10 PM

The fact that she was quick to jump in with “its not because of ty” as a reason for not choosing jason, makes me think it indeed was BECAUSE OF TY.

I was surprised this was such a serious commentary as well. Maybe there was just no funny left in you? Say it ain’t so, Steve. It was a good recap but just no zing. I know I’m in the minority in that I was actually rooting for Jesse. And yes, I’ll admit it, I hope they live happily ever after. I grew up reading fairy tales. What can I say. All in all, you did an awesome job with the season, Steve.

    July 8, 2008 at 1:47 PM

Steve – the whole thing you said about Jason’s proposal and how the sound was off? Well, Jason was on a radio show this morning was taking questions. Someone asked him about the proposal and he said it all got edited out. They actually stood at the podium for a while talking, and he proposed, and then got down one one knee and then she told him I can’t. That’s why he asked her why she let it get that far on the ATRFC.

Just figured you’d like to know…

  25. Kristin

    July 8, 2008 at 2:23 PM

They shouldn’t have edited out the ending w/ their talking. It just looked HORRIBLE to see poor jason get down on one knee and her saying, “No I can’t!” Puh-leaze! Thanks bradysmom203 for the new info from the radio show this morning. I figured it got edited! The way they edited it REALLY made Deanna look worse than I already think she is. She was sickening last night w/ the Brad mentions and the “I’ve been through this before.” Gag!

Did anyone else notice that both Jesse and Jason’s moms look alike? Dark, long hair, plain looking, about the same age…. Just a silly observation!

Steve…this season would suck the humor out of anyone! It all seemed so weird! Thanks for your add on comments…I usually catch things like that, so I’m glad you noticed it. I wonder if the editing was done to have her act like Brad with the “I can’t” just like he did.

    July 8, 2008 at 3:28 PM

I’m guessing they offered her a televised dream wedding and May 9th is right after the Spring Prime Time season ends, so it will be a bit ABC even like Trista and Ryan (another laid back Colorado guy who went with the flow–and the appearance money) Did you see the look on her father’s face when she said they were going to get married in Bermuda! I’m sure he’s hoping he doesn’t have to pay for it!

First, thanks once more RealitySteve for a great season – without having your commentary to read the next day I wouldn’t even bother watching. I’ve said before that reading here sure is what makes this show worth watching for me because I love your snark!

We’ve been Fleissed again as usual. I really didn’t care who DeAnna chose as long as she was happy – that’s what it was supposed to be about, anyways. I just hated that the edit never seemed to show the “love story” happening and led everyone to think she was going to pick Jason. Last night’s edit of them visiting her hometown even led people to think that her Dad liked Jason better – then at the ATFR her Dad said he knew at the hometown date that Dee was in love with Jesse? The editing this season wasn’t just a little “off” – it was atrocious. Jesse didn’t seem like a “maybe,” he seemed like cannon fodder! It would have been nice to see the actual supposed “fairy tale” as DeAnna called it actually developing, because isn’t that what we are supposed to be watching for? This isn’t “The Mole” after all, I know we aren’t supposed to know who she picks but I think this time Fleiss got so obsessed with the editing that he wrecked the show. Ah, no matter I guess, as long as I have RS to read every week!

Sorry for the rant – see you next season RS – hugs to Ms. Maddie!!

Once again, this is about entertainment, not love. Fleiss is a master manipulator and I have no doubt that he correographed this train wreck to have DeAnna chose the underdog over the much loved Jason. It was obvious to me that she was falling for Jason, but someone talked her out of choosing him. I think you’re right, Steve, the final rose ceremony was reshot because she was conflicted. And who caused that…the producer, of course. Just like he tried to make trouble for Trista and Ryan to bolster ratings.

Also, on the ATFR show, alot of the audience shots were plugged in from the MTA show. There were the same women shown in the close-up audience shots in the same dresses from the MTA, and they really did not show the audience much. I don’t know which was more off, that or Chris Harrison who acted like he was on stelazine after being so cool and funny at the MTA.
ABC did this same trick on Jesse’s final date in the sea plane when they plugged in shots from the earlier fantasy date when she’s got those brown earrings on. (Maybe every shot of them on the sea plane was x-rated or something . . . Deanna was definitely thinking with something other than her brain.)
Finally, Jesse made a big point of telling Daddy Pappas in the orchestrated request for his daughter’s hand that his own father knew he was in love not because of any internal feeling but because of the physical sweaty palms and beating heart. (Daddy Pappas bought it all . . . anything to cover his distress at being forced to give his blessing to this rad dude.) Daddy Ted then threw Jesse under the bus at the ATFR by saying that in fact he told Jesse in Breck that he would know he was in love because of what he felt INSIDE. I felt like the Alpo dog with my head flipping back and forth between the two explanations. Clever story though for how Jesse went from not wanting to get married in two weeks to promising her an immediate marriage in the span of about six days and one date.
This season was a total disaster of ABC playing mind games on us and leaving the fans almost as heartbroken as all the guys who Deanna absolutely, positively did not lead on. I hope she is happy with her rad dude ridiculous relationship . . . it is all she got out of a season of missteps. It is certainly more than she deserves.

Regarding Jeremy — I think he returned to talk to Deanna on the night he was rejected and it was edited to look like he came back on Diana’s second Bahamas visit. I think the show’s producers treated both these poor guys (Jeremy and Jason) abominably — they’re both too good for Deanna, if you ask me. In any case, thanks for the weekly recaps, Steve — hope you keep them coming.

It seemed that maybe Jason was playing up to the camera a lot. I thought maybe he was playing the game, so he could stick it to his ex-wife. He kept saying over and over, “I’ve never felt this way about anyone.” This is a direct…I didn’t really care about you (his ex) like she thought he did. I think he wasn’t THAT upset when he left. He was probably more upset that he “lost” on national TV and couldn’t show off in front of his ex.

He kept saying he hadn’t left Ty for more than a day, but I thought he traveled a lot for work. Maybe he did all that traveling before Ty was born? But, he seemed to contradict himself a lot. Jesse, on the other hand, is just a DUDE and went with the flow. I’m sure he and Ryan will be good friends while they spend their earnings going on adventures and leaving the women behind!

The most endearing thing was when Jesse nearly lost his lunch on the way to picking a ring! NOW, that’s an image I want in my mind of my “future husband”….looks like super Sleuths are really tracking down the rumors too…wait and see!

My goodness…can we even for a second think that maybe Jesse was a better match for Deanna. I think alot of people are upset because they thought Jason was a better catch for THEM. I may be either a hopeless romantic or incredibly naive, but I am happy for them and think they have a shot. I haven’t thought that for a few seasons now. I guess I will just be happy for them and read the message boards as everyone else tears them apart.

Steve, I look forward to your recaps so much and have for a long time, but I miss the wit! I haven’t laughed in awhile reading your recap. I don’t want to offend. I just miss it!

Love your recaps, and I will be pining away until the next Bachelor airs–I hear that #13 will be Paula Abdul’s ex. Goodness. I didn’t watch the last two episodes of this show; I just went straight to your recaps. The fact that she chose Jesse was somewhat nauseating. Let’s set an over/under on how long that will last. PJ–just love the description of the conversation you had with your husband.

I was getting so sick of the Brad references, too–it seems like this girl never lets go of ANYTHING. Its interesting to read the transcripts from the conference calls some of the guys had with realitytvworld… it seems like a lot of them were turned off by her “me, me, me” all the time.

Wait what? PAULA ABDUL’S EX? That Corey kid? Who the hell IS her ex? That can’t possibly be true. Jason FTW!

I had no idea that engagement party show was last night. I thought it was next week for some reason and as soon as she didn’t pick Jason I changed the channel because REALLY? Jesse? Still scratching my head over that one.

Oh well, sounds like I didn’t miss much!

This season had such an ick factor all the way through, which started with Deanna’s continual blaming Brad for everything wrong in her life – but then she blames someone else for anything she doesn’t like. Good plan – I am sure she sleeps well at night – you don’t have to struggle with a conscience.
LOL moment = Pappa Pappas “Brad didn’t ever ask permission to marry my daughter.” Of course he didn’t dude. (big gfaw) He was never going to propose so why should he ask? Great line (big grin!) but then I guess you have to blame someone other than your daughter.
Lordy – someone should have turned a fire hose on those horny teenagers – I thought we were watching a bunch of 15 yr olds at a makeout party. Wonder if they went home together.
More with the rumors … they are better than the show! If Brad got a dollar for each time his name was mentioned he could pay the rent for all four bars LOL Love that man!!!! Bring him back with a new set of chicks!

She is so irritating. I can’t believe she kept Jason for that long knowing that he had to be away from his kid. There is also NO way that she made her decision the moring of…if she did, then that is sad for Jesse. The editing was so bad last night with Jeremy…so he hung out in the Bahamas for a week in the exact same clothes? D even said “we are back in the Bahamas and I guess that Jeremy wants to talk with me”. Kudos to Jeremy if he got to stay a week on the ABC tab…too bad it was in dress pants and a shirt.

Also, can ABC stop having people call to nominate the next Bachelor? They never pick regular guys, so why bother? Also, Shane is about 2 years away from being as crusty and disgusting as her mother….she looked so old and her “hunneees” were more annoying than Deanna’s. Also, usually when a couple is going to do some traveling they discuss it beforehand (he said “we are?”) when she said that. And what about the “he doesn’t fit in my bed” comment? Either she is still in a twin, or she wanted to appear slutty…she is so lame!

PS. Ew.com (entertainment weekly) has a cheesy phone interview with these 2. They are going to live in CO in winter so Jesse can ride the “shred stick”-his words and then Georgia in the summer…so easy to do with the price of housing, gas, and plane tickets!?

Ok am I the only one who thinks that if you look closely at footage of Jesse in the Bahamas episodes, he looks attractive? He has a sexiness about him that’s different from the standard look we’re used to, the kind that Jason has for instance. I think it’s because Jesse’s attractiveness is atypical that everyone can’t understand what she sees in him. Also why is a professional snowboarder such an unpractical profession as opposed to a professional basketball player? The only difference is the sport, right? Yet when a guy is a pro basketball player there are no questions about why he doesn’t get a real job. Also it’s hard to tell, but Jason could border on the boring, no? And if you look at his eyes when he’s rejected after proposing, he doesn’t seem all that upset. It’s very possible that Deanna made the right decision. I still wish she went with Graham though.

Thanks for the great recaps! You made the season of Deana a lot of fun (inspite of the fact it was a season of Deana).

Re: Jason on his knee. Somewhere today he’s quoted as saying that his proposal actually went on quite a while before she stopped him. So that would explain why they dubbed her in. The show still wants us to like her, apparently, as much as possible (wedding ratings?)

Anyway, I’d believe Jason any day over “I’d Never Act Like Brad–I’m much WORSE!!!” Deana. I hope she’s getting an earful today and sees what its like to be seen as selfish and inconsiderate on national television.

    Cheers!

I saw this something in Jason that scared me as a women. I saw a very controlling person deep down inside. There was something about him that was not right for Dee who needs to be somewhat in charge. Like the whole thing would have blown up badly if they gotten together. I’m talking real ugly.

I do see Jesse as better match for her unlike so many other people do. There was this chemistry of kindered spirits between them. They are more alike then not. They are both adventurers, and they throw caution to the wind. Jason was to up tight for whom the person Dee was becoming. I think they have a shot at Love (no pun intended)

I somewhat agree with you Janna. I wouldn’t say that Jason scared me but I surely don’t see what everyone else was seeing. He seems nice but like Lisa (#43) said, he also seems boring. Every time DeAnna would say that with Jason she would always be safe and secure I know she just meant financially. I guess on paper Jason seemed like the right choice but you have to go with your heart.

I just hope Jesse was sincere with his feelings. It’s so hard to tell considering all the editing. It would have been nice to see some “never before seen” clips of their evolving relationship vs. clips of their dates we already saw.

And yes, it was quite obvious that Jeremy was in the same outfit from the rose ceremony. I just don’t know why he agreed to make a fool of himself like that. I loved the drama of him bending down, hand over face, wipe the tear from his eye.

Oh well, looking forward to reading your recaps next season Steve. Take care!

I am way too old to be watching these dating shows, my boyfriend tellls me, but I love to watch Male/Female behavior…
Am I the only one that gets upset that when men cannot make a decision after six weeks about which woman to choose, he’s a dog who let her down. When a woman jilts a man, it’s okay and it’s Her Choice. Brad didn’t dump her, he just didn’t pick her.
I like DeAnna, but she is rather harsh on men; it is much more subtle than overt. I think a woman’s job today is to protect her man’s masculinity and help support him emotionally. I dread to think what will happen if that “perfect” life and “perfect” relationship she and so many of her ilk does not work out. That is the true test of love. If she expects a man to act like her best girlfriend with romance thrown in, she is in for a rude awakening.

If you think about most 26 year old women, they would be drawn to a free spirit nice guy like Jesse, rather than a polished man with a three year old son. She chose well, but I doubt it will last. Most young women should have some fun with their spouse before jumping into children – Jesse will provide that for her.

The best thing about this season, however, was the new drinking game it produced. (remember the Bachelor’s Amanda – every time she said “like” you had to drink a shot!) When Jesse gave nugs it was shot time, and if he “blew it up” you had to make it a double!

I’m still trying to sober up from the Season Finale/ATFR broadcast….

And I would like to have Jesse for my man when Deanna is done with him in a few…

OK, a few things. As DeAnna stood on the balcony the morning of the rose ceremony we see her on and off again in glasses. Guess she wears contacts, which explains all the eye blinking.

I can’t believe no one has talked about how TOTALLY uncomfortable that “date” was with both guys at her parent’s house. Can you say ackward? Yikes. I felt so bad for both of them during that “date”.

And after Jeremy left her hotel room I just wanted to shake him when he slid down to one knee near/in the grass. Eee-gads, grow some boy!

And don’t get me started on Shane. As they replayed her proposal and she started crying on the couch I couldn’t help think she was crying cause of what a mess it has all turned out to be and she has to pretend she still loves him. I loved when she said, “and he doesn’t fit in my bed” LOL, LOL.

Steve, you rock my man. Kisses to the cutest dog ever (well, next to my beloved Pal, may she rest in peace).
