Jake and Vienna. Wow. Honestly, I can write a regular column just on that 40 minute interview alone. But seriously, I have tired head about the whole thing. They each said last night everything they’ve been saying to the tabloids over the last week. It’s over, it’s done with, and I hope both of them go away and drop it. I’m going to give a much shortened version of my thoughts just because I’m pretty much sick of the whole thing. The more I talk about it, the more everyone talks about it, the more emails I get about it, and it’s a never ending cycle. After today, I really don’t ever want to discuss these two ever again.
First, lets just say Chris Harrison coming out with his sanctimonious “…many people have found love on our show” crap was just ridiculous. Really Chris? You have two marriages in 20 seasons. That’s “many”? And if you take it a step further, only 6 of your 20 Bachelor and Bachelorettes have ever been married period. Trista and Jason obviously were the only two who married people from the show. But Aaron, Bob, Jen, and Firestone were the only other people to ever get married from your show to ANYONE. And I still giggle when I see Firestone’s wife as the chick who took her top off in “Van Wilder” and “Wedding Crashers”. Quality stuff. So enough about the success of this show. If by “success” you mean “absolute failures”, then sure, we hear you loud and clear.
And enough with the “Sorry it ended this way guys” and Chris apologizing in his blog today that the interview didn’t end the way they would’ve liked. Bullsh**. He and the show loved every second of the way that thing went last night. EVERYBODY is talking about it today, which is exactly why they broadcast it. They knew it’d turn into what it did, they knew Vienna had hatred built up for the guy, and they ate it up. Look, this franchise certainly isn’t against making a mockery of a public breakup. Just ask Jason, Molly, and Melissa about that. I would respect them a hell of a lot more if they just said, “Yep, that was some great TV last night. Hope you all enjoyed it because it was exactly the fireworks we were looking for” and stop hiding behind the crap of “Man, that took a wrong turn. Sorry you had to witness that.” Please. We’re smarter than that. At least I hope most people are.
Here’s the points I will make about the interview itself:
-Hey Vienna, it’s a “polygraph” test, not a “poly-a-graph” test. Someone might want to actually inform her how to pronounce it before she hooks Jake up to one so she can electrocute him.
-I got a kick out of her calling him “the biggest fake liar I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” Wait…”fake liar”? Woudn’t a fake liar be someone that tells the truth? I’m confused here, V. Explain that one. Then again, when your blood is boiling that much over some dbag, I’m sure you’d say a bunch of things that don’t make sense either.
-Vienna: “How can I have a relationship with someone who isn’t emotionally and physically there with me?” Well, that’s where you got burned honey. This guy never wanted to be engaged or married to you. He did it all for ratings. The guy was out for himself from the very get-go. Sorry you were naïve to fall for his act. It’s obvious you did. No one gets that hysterical over someone they didn’t care for. It’s just that you cared for him waaaaaaaaaaaay more than he ever cared for you.
-If Jake thinks that checking a GPS after getting directions and remeasuring a room is “emasculating” and “undermining” him, then he’s just an idiot. Those might be annoying traits of hers, but they certainly aren’t undermining him. The fact these two couldn’t hold a civil conversation pretty much showed they weren’t meant for each other. It was never gonna last anyway, so why sit here and discuss it for days. This was something we all knew was coming and was a matter of when, and not if.
-Vienna: “He never talked to me, got to know me, or was intimate with me.” Exactly. Because he didn’t give a crap about you or where your relationship was going. He was in this to be back on TV and get his name out there and that was it. It’s all very simple. The he said/she said stuff that went back and forth – we’ll never know who’s telling the truth or not, so it’s pointless to dissect. Was he really on his phone the whole time he was at her parents house? Hell, I don’t know. I wasn’t there. But after seeing his performance last night, would it surprise me? Of course not. Jake Pavelka is a phony from the word “go” and I’ve been saying it for nine months now. I think people should listen to me more…ha ha.
-It looks like it’s running about 80% to 20% in favor of Vienna today. Not that people all the sudden like her, but that they felt bad for her last night and thought Jake came off much, much worse. And he did. Sure, Vienna constantly interrupting him would annoy the piss out of anyone, but that’s just a character trait of hers you’ll have to deal with if you ever date her. And it was incredibly annoying last night. With that said, Jake with his constant smarmy, condescending, smirky, know-it-all grin on his face didn’t help his case at all. He couldn’t have come off worse if he tried. The most amazing part was, Vienna actually made a hell of a lot more sense than Jake did, which I’m guessing surprised a lot of people.
-The biggest thing I took from the interview, and the #1 thing I give Vienna credit for, is she actually gave examples. I’m BIG on giving examples during an argument. Anyone can throw out, “You’re an asshole for treating me like this”. But if you can’t back it up with examples, it falls on deaf ears. So when she says, “Did you not go to my parents house and barely say two words and were on your phone the whole time”, and his only response is, “Nope”, I tend to believe her. Plus, there were other people there who witnessed it, we just didn’t get to hear their side last night. He attacked her with the “You had a guy over at the place Saturday night” and she responded he was a gay guy that Jake actually spoke to, to which he then didn’t have a reply to.
-On and on this could go but Vienna was much better at pointing out specific things in their relationship that Jake either had no comeback for, or, just denied with a one word answer. Trust me, Vienna is far from being a saint in all this, but she definitely came across better last night. I believe all the emotional abuse stuff as well because Jake basically admitted he didn’t sleep with her and they weren’t sexual because of the “emasculating” and “undermining”. Well, then why stay together for those four months? Oh right. You were on “DWTS” and it would’ve looked ten times worse if you were the guy who dumped his girlfriend during filming. Funny how less than a month after the show is over, we’re hearing all this stuff about how awful the relationship was that whole time, yet, he never ended it with her.
Those are pretty much my thoughts. Jake showed his true colors last night. He’s out for himself, he showed her absolutely zero respect, he came across as a robotic nutjob who’s bordering on being a sociopath, despite all the interrupting. Yes, Vienna was unbearable at times but made much better points than he did and he was constantly contradicting himself. I’m not on Team Vienna or Team Jake. I’m currently on “Team Please Go Away Both of You”. They’re not together anymore, nor will they be, so we don’t need to hear from either of them anytime soon. That’s the way I like it. And as for Chris Harrison saying, “We don’t care about the dog”, well Chris, Maddie officially hates you now. She told me as such once she heard you utter that. So there.
