The Bachelorette 6 - Ali

Bachelorette 6 Recap – 7/19/10 Including The Truth Behind Frank’s Exit

Remember, for this seasons spoilers, click on the either of the two links under the banner above (Part 1 & Part 2) for all your answers regarding what happens this season. Part 1 has had my thoughts on everything that went down with Frank for the last couple months and nothing has changed.

A couple things to clear up from last Wednesday’s post that addressed the preview clip which ABC put out regarding Frank’s visit to Nicole. If you go back to the Part 1 spoilers where I talk about Frank, I said that Frank filmed his segment with Nicole after Ali left his hometown, but before he went to Tahiti. That’s what I knew. What a lot of you seem to be forgetting (or may not even know), is how the shooting of the show is done once they’re down to the final four guys. I remember a few seasons back in a post I explained this, but for the life of me, I can’t remember which one it was, so I will explain again.

Once they are down to the final four, these guys are secluded from EVERYONE, even each other. In fact, from the time of the final four all the way down to the final two, you never even are able to speak to anyone else on the show outside of the Bachelor/ette. How? Lets take this season for example (but it’s like this every season), once down to four, Kirk, Roberto, Chris, and Frank are placed in four separate hotels with only their handlers. They don’t go home and chill for a week with family and friends waiting for Ali to show up. They are absolutely secluded from each other in separate LA hotels. Once it’s their turn for the hometown, they’re flown out with their handlers, and STILL not allowed to see family. They are put up in a hotel in their hometown until their date begins. So Ali and Roberto’s date begins, they play baseball, have a picnic, and when they walk into Roberto’s house to meet his family, that’s the first time Roberto is seeing his family since he’s been back as well. Wash, rinse, and repeat for the other three dates. Once the date is over, Ali leaves, the guys do not stay at their parents house in their old bed, no, they are taken back to their hotel in town, flown back to LA the next day, back to their hotel with their handler and just wait everything out until the rose ceremony comes up.

So what do they do? Nothing. Basically all they can do is use the gym, rent movies, or go to the movies – all with their handler. Remember, at this time, the show obviously isn’t airing, so people have no idea who these guys are, but still, they are kept under lock and key that they don’t go crazy on their phone and internet talking to a bunch of people. So if you have the first hometown, you have a long ass wait afterwards. Usually around a week or so. And if you have the last one, like Frank, you’re waiting a week or more with nothing to do but basically think about your ex-girlfriend some more. So yeah, it’s starting to make a little more sense now, isn’t it? Final four rose ceremony comes, these guys are brought into the room one at a time, arriving in separate cars, and once in there, not allowed to say a word to each other. You can’t be like, “Hey man, how was your hometown? Ali and I did this, this, and this.” Nope. It’s like the freakin’ CIA. They don’t want any of them conversing for fear of info getting out that might influence the outcome. (Now tonight, you may have seen Chris say a little something to Roberto when he showed up, but there was nothing at stake since they were both getting roses). That big fat guy with the cap is there monitoring everything and makes sure no one talks to each other other than pleasantries. Once the elimination ends, all the guys go back to their hotels, and are flown on separate flights on different days, out to Tahiti. Once again, not all flying out on one flight shooting the breeze talking about Ali and their hometowns. Three separate flights all on different days. In fact, you don’t go out there until it’s your turn for your day with Ali. So Roberto goes first, then Chris, and while they’re gone, that’s when Frank was flown back to Chicago for his meeting with Nicole. So hopefully now you understand.

I will be doing another call-in internet talk show this Thursday night at 10pm EST/7pm PST, as I will be a guest of Olivia Wilder’s very popular internet talk show. She had Tenley and Jeremy on about a month ago and got a huge response, so when she asked me to do it, I decided it’d be a good idea. Everyone who listens will be able to call in and ask pretty much whatever you want. I will have the link and call-in number here on the site this Thursday night so you’ll be able to listen by just coming back here. Looking forward to doing it and hearing all of your questions. It’s been a few months since we’ve done one of these and I’m excited. Hope to hear from a lot of you. Here is a facebook reminder with an awful crop job done on an old picture…ha ha

Finally, something to mention about last Wednesday’s column. I said that there has been an instance where I was wrong about something I posted and that I would share it either sometime during “Bachelor Pad” or afterwards. A few of you seemed to assume that it had to do with Ali’s season. Go back and read what I wrote. Nowhere did I say it had to do with Ali’s season. Why? Because it didn’t. So why not mention it now? Because I feel it’s important enough to where it should stand on its own. I don’t want to bring it up during the height of Ali’s season because I think it’ll lose its effect. I misreported something that I was quite careless about, I’m embarrassed by it, and I’m going to own up to my mistake. Unlike most people on the internet who run with stuff, and when its not true, they either never admit to their mistake or you never hear from them again. This also isn’t going to be some one sentence apology thrown into a column. This is going to be a one-on-one interview with someone from the show to tell everyone when I made the mistake, how I made it, why I made it, followed by an apology to this person. So just wanted to clear that up for people thinking I was covering myself just in case Ali’s engaged. Nope. My mistake had nothing to do with this season and I stand by what I posted it on June 21st, and haven’t backed off since. Ali is single.

If you want to read the uneventful happenings at the “Men Tell All” taping this past weekend, then skip down to the next post to read those. Despite what the previews showed, no, Justin wasn’t there. Obviously for the unspoiled audience, they want people to think he’s there so they’ll tune in. He wasn’t. They did the same thing last season when they promoted Jake would confront Rozlyn for the first time since her elimination, and we all know he never did. It’s just hype. Like when they show Jake going off in an ITM last season and walking off which never aired, clips a couple weeks ago possibly making you think Ty was in Tahiti, cop car/ambulance lights early on this season, and aerial shots of cop cars outside of house. Just a way to make you think something major happens when it doesn’t. It’s like a given they will do that every season, and this one is no different. On to last night…

-Maybe they’ve done it before on the overnight dates, but if they did, I don’t remember. Starting out the show with a recap of each guy and their mini-journey to get where they are with Ali? Really? I thought they did that in the final episode. Hmmmm. Not sure. Regardless, that’s how last night started out and we get to see Chris at the top of his LA hotel, smiling, deep in thought, and nodding continuously at…uhhhh…I have no idea. Exactly what was he nodding at? If I know LA like I do, and I could sort of pinpoint where Chris was, my guess is as he was overlooking LA from the top of his hotel with a giant grin on his face nodding uncontrollably, my guess is he was able to see the Spearmint Rhino strip club next to Staples Center from where he was. Hey, just a guess on my part. But that’d sure have me nodding and grinning from ear to ear. You know, because I heard it’s a really cool place with private champagne rooms and…forget it.

-Roberto is shown packing in his hotel room and talking about his excitement for Tahiti. So we see him stuff a couple shirts in there, a few pairs of shorts, and wait for it, wait for it…a Lion King CD! Hey Roberto, I know you had some very intimate moments with Ali up on stage during your time on the Lion King, but something tells me you won’t be blaring “Hakuna Matata” in your headphones on the way to Tahiti, so cut it out with the nostalgic smile as you pack away the CD. Roberto: “Ali is unlike any women I’ve ever met.” Well, of course except for Gabrielle, the girl you were dating before you left for the show, never told her you were going on and she found out by turning on her TV since you didn’t bother to even tell after you got back. Awwwww, too bad. Of course I believe that all these guys have chicks back home that they could hook right back up with when filming ends. It’s just a matter of how much you believe their story. As for Gabrielle? Eh. No idea so I’m not gonna begin to speculate. But would it surprise me if it was true? Of course not. Nothing surprises me when it comes to this show, and I hope it doesn’t for you either.

-Of course as we see Frank getting ready in his hotel room, he informs us that something has been weighing on his mind that he hasn’t told Ali (or the viewing audience yet), and that’s that he’s been thinking of his ex-girlfriend Nicole. Yes, this is the first time in nine episodes the show has mentioned an ex-girlfriend Nicole, so to the unspoiled, this comes as a shocker. However, as mentioned in Part 1 of the spoilers, Frank had told producers about Nicole long before this episode. He wanted to tell Ali about her as far back as NY. But, that wouldn’t make for good TV. Essentially Frank knew he wanted to leave for a while, but wasn’t allowed to. It was finally agreed upon that, “Ok Frank, we’ll let you tell Ali about Nicole. But you’ll do it on our terms. You will tell her in Tahiti, and we will film you getting back with Nicole to make it more dramatic.” Basically, tit for tat. They let him leave, but not under his circumstances. He was going to do it in a way that would make it the most dramatic exit possible. And as you saw, it pretty much was. I’m on Team Frank. Pretty much because I know most of the angry housewives all hate him now, so I feel bad for him. By no means does that mean I’m not on Team Ali, I’m just saying I felt bad for the guy last night. This show has no care in the world for its contestants and they will exploit them as much as they can to get what they want.

-For those that choose to believe the first time Frank brought up Nicole to the producers was after he received the rose and found out he was going to Tahiti, I’ve got some land to sell you. Just like they knew they had the Jessica storyline back home with Justin and waited until after his 2-on-1 with Kasey to play it, they knew as early as New York that there was potential with the Nicole storyline. They just figured having him leave in Tahiti to say he still loved an ex-girlfriend wouldn’t be enough unless they showed him struggling with his feelings and talking to her. You know the ironic thing in all this? All Frank really did last night was basically choose Nicole over Ali. Nothing more, nothing less. The guy made a decision to be with someone he felt more secure with rather than risk something with Ali. No different than what Ali does at every rose ceremony when she chooses some guys over others.

-If you say, “Well no, because he wasn’t honest with her. He should’ve told her that right when he first started thinking he wanted to be with his ex.” If they would’ve let him, he would’ve. He wasn’t allowed to. If you say, “Well, why did he wait until Tahiti?” Again, I’ll tell you that it wasn’t his choice. He has no say in something like that. It was great, dramatic television last night, and that’s exactly what they wanted. And the fact he’s still together with Nicole right now seems to me the guy made the right decision. But lets say the guy ends up marrying her someday, you still gonna hate him for leaving Ali when he did? Of course you won’t. Hell, when they tape the “After the Final Rose” this weekend, I’m sure Ali’s over it too. I can’t imagine two months after the fact, and knowing he’s still with Nicole, that Ali is still pining for him. Frank chose Nicole over Ali. End of story. Who am I to tell him he’s an idiot? The guy would rather go with the sure thing than try some phony relationship on a show where it basically never works out between the final couple. Do you blame him?

haha i totally noticed the zit and after that, i could NOT stop staring at it! gosh so distracting!!

even though i have read your blog and know how it will end, im still all for CHRIS L.!! how could Ali NOT pick him (much less ANYONE?) people are complaining that Chris L. has “baggage” and that all he does is grieve over his mother. HELLO, he lost his freaking mother. ANYONE would react in such a strong way. props to him for allowing himself to feel again. he’s a human being and to lose one’s mother is heartbreaking. to put himself out there and take a huge risk is not something we all are made of. he truly deserves someone special. hopefully single ladies of cape cod will be watching and he will find someone perfect for him! 🙂

roberto seems soo fake and whipped! he always has that cheesy smile going on and it’s so dang annoying. all he ever tries to do is show off his, apparently, bad baseball skills and his salsa moves. plus, who wants a man who stands there and sweats up a freaking nasty storm? gross!

im proud of frank for going after what he wants. quit your complaining, Ali, you’ve got two other guys bowing down to you and ready to marry you. she’s going to watch the show and wonder why she cried so much over him. he’s not even THAT likable or interesting. quirky, yes. weird, yes. but unstable as hell and emotionally fragile. let him go where his heart takes him and move on. after watching him all season, i bet he’s finally healed and MUCH happier! heck, NO guy wants to date a girl that 25 other men are competing for.

i was also going to add, dont you think roberto and chris feel weird after sleeping with the same girl in the fantasy suite one after the other? i mean, it would suck to get the sloppy seconds, especially so SOON between dates.

am i the only one who finds that a bit disgusting?

I didn’t get to watch until tonight, online, and even now, 24 hours later, I could HEAR STEVE GAGGING as Roberto giggled when he picked up the Lion King CD or when he “played” with his baseball as he lay dreaming on his bed.

He’s a doll but that was the most horribly scripted scenes, 2nd only to Ali in the hotel last season. Ugh —

For all those who say Chris can’t kiss – the first kiss btw he and Ali, my thought was “there is a guy who has been w/o water for a long time and looks thirsty.”…if you catch my analogy. So if you think he can’t kiss — whoo hoo, get out of the way because you are wronnnnggg. I hope he doesn’t become the next bach because they will certainly cast some hellions to mess w/ his mind, don’t you think?

G-G-GIA — YES! I TOTALLY caught that contradiction btw what Frank said BEFORE meeting w/ Satanic Chris and then what he said when talking w/ Satanic Chris.

Here is a contradiction from last week that has bothered me. When Frank was talking to his dad at the home date, he seemed to say at one point, “this is all so hard, you know, with everything else that is going on (or going on with me)”.

ITM always seemed to mean Individual Taped Minute or something to that effect. One-on-one with the camera interview.

Sleeping with different guys like that on 3 different nights IS TOTALLY gross. LOL she spent a total of what, 5 total hours with Frank, says she wants to marry him, then she throws a bitch fest when Frank genuinely decides to go back to a woman he genuinely loves.

    Uhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, Ali, hope you get your little spot on The View or Et Online or w/e and gtfo my tv. kthxbai

I don’t buy that Frank couldn’t leave when he wanted to. He didn’t have to say anything to the producers. Why not just keep his mouth shut and simply not accept a rose? Why go to the producers about leaving? Did he want them to pay him to stay? Maybe they did. Same thing w/ Justin. He could’ve simply not accepted the rose.

As you know, Geneva is about 50 miles from downtown Chicago. It’s considered to be in the Chicago area, but — come on, they should not be saying he is from Chicago. I have a friend who moved from downtown Chicago to Geneva years ago. For a while he used to preface his remarks about Geneva with “out here in the countryside, where I live” —

YES!!!!!!!! This is one of the reasons I think they should stop recycling contestants into being the next Bachelor/ette. I also did not like Jake as a choice, nor Jillian (although I didn’t mind Jillian herself, as a person — but they could have found a more interesting Bachelorette). By limiting to only the pool of contestants, and it has to be one of the ones who makes it far into the show, they are really really cutting off a lot of possibilities for new Bachelors/Bachelorettes, IMO.

Now that you put it that way, no, I don’t. So thanks for enlightening me. I always thought Frank was fugly anyway and not cool. I cracked up so hard when you said he doesn’t really wear glasses! classic!
I didn’t even notice Roberto sweating that much, I thought he was sexier than ever. It’s not like he’s some heaving obese guy, he’s hot hot hot so any girl probably wouldn’t mind his sweat issues. On the contrary I’m sure many girls here wouldn’t mind tasting it. Just saying.
I thought for sure you’d rag him about holding a baseball in his hand while laying on the bed in his hotel room at the beginning fo the show! Now that I did think was cheesy even thought I stand by my feelings that he’s just fine and in his right to be proud of and still enjoy remembering his baseball career. He obvioiusly loves it and even says it’s a part of who he is.
Anyway, this just sucks because I know Ali picks no one. I don’t even want to watch, but I know I will.

Well, I guess I’m happy for Frank if he is still with Nicole; sounds like he made the right decision. What I’d like to know is how long he was broken up with her before he went on the Bachelorette, and what caused them to break up the first time. Would probably help me (and others) understand him better.

    i am sick of ali.
her little chipmunk face and her fakey facial expression are enough to
make one barf. she’s cute but nothing truly unique about her to continue watching anymore. i think jake should of picked her because she’d kicked his groin area multiple times by now. plus their faces are just unreal…ali’s and jake’s faces are just like they are molded out of plastic and are just uninteresting people.

i think i will go back to watching reruns of two and a half men…
yep, sounds much better than this version of hamburger helper.

The only thing that can save this show is having Kate plus 8 (w/e her name is) be the Bachelorette. Anyone else is just going to be a bore fest. Have some RL celebrities have a go.

Watching Ali this season was torture.

So I was rewatching the FD’s last night wondered if anyone noticed that Roberto had red suitcases when he was shown packing, but when he got to the limo he put a black roll on suitcase into the trunk of the car. Continuity guy is going to lose his job over that one LOL.

I just seen on Franks Facebook. He sent Ali a message on The Bachelortte Facebook “He wants her back that Nicole cheated on him.” Wonder how true this is. And if this will be brought up at the ATFR Show. I really think the one she wanted in the end was Frank. If he is broke up with Nicole I think she will be stupid enough to take him back.

To lalala – YES it is totally disgusting to think any of the Bachelor/ettes physically hooked-up with all 3 finalists in the FS! I actually have alot of respect for those that decline the FS (though I don’t think many of them DO decline the night of frolicking – I mean, c’mon, they’ve gone a few months without it at this point, and they MUST be horny as hell…) But on the flipside, as Steve mentioned, you’d probably want to know how your prospective S.O. shags? Look at Jillian and Ed’s night in the FS….Ed had, um, issues. And YET, she chose him!?

and to jessica1 – Ok, phew, I thought I was the only one who wanted to swap places with Ali, and be the one being mauled by Chris L (reference to their first kiss while her favorite singer crooned in the background – what’s his name again?). I couldn’t help but think he was one hungry dawg! It looked very passionate to me anyway…
Chris L rocks my world. He definetly should NOT be the next Bachelor…he is way too good for this debauchery of a show.

NO you ain’t the only one–YES I too find that totally disgusting. Ugh.

Ali is cute in a Doris Day sort of way but way too silly and immature.
No depth. If I was a man, I would not find her that attractive or interesting. Roberto and Chris are both too good for silly Ali.

    July 21, 2010 at 9:47 AM

MindyM, the first I have heard about Roberto and a possible girlfriend was from Steve’s blog! Now truthfully I am sure all the guys have a girlfriend or someone they are dating, maybe not seriously, but feel they want a bit of adventure so apply for the show. If indeed Roberto has someone special back home, good for him. Since Ali doesn’t have a brain in her head when she rejects this attractive, sweet guy, he can resume his life with all the women who will be all over him from now on!

We really don’t know WHEN Frank advised producers that he wanted out of the show. Could be far enough into the show for Ali to have advised producers that she has feelings for him that she wants to continue to explore. You know when one of the guys is extra special, they get the better dates and the better edit!

Why Ali was so torn up about Frank leaving…beyond me…but all I can say is she definitely would have picked him at the final rose ceremony. She is not a good enough actress to pull all that angst!

I agree with a poster that Chris is living in the past and currently living with his dad could very well be a deal breaker for her. Chris needs loads more healing. Less mom’s death conversation with future dates would be the thing to do. Probably was told by producers to continue to reference this occurrance hoping audience and Ali would feel sorry for him. Mission accomplished! Again…nice guy and sincere but not attractive or interesting enough to hold my attention. Definitely lacks the excitement factor Roberto would produce.

If there is any feeling for any of the finalists, I think the girl or guy should continue to date after the show ends and see where that leads. Course then the drama of the FRS would disappear! Course when did the producers actually want a true love story to emerge! Ratings, ratings, ratings…only objective.

As to the FS…maybe the zit (yes it was obvious) was a result of another occurance that prohibited Ali from actually endulging in some FS activities. Ladies…ya know what I mean! But I would hope that she is not quite slutty enough to do each of them. Not sure if it was actually back to back FS taping. Steve…weigh in on that, if you read this.

Steve, you must be so thankful to your source otherwise you would not have this. He/she come through every time with the real deals of what is going on in these shows (Bachelor/Bachelorette). Sometimes I think how in hell?? Aren’t you afraid of what might happen if your little spy gets caught? because as I read your articles, which I find them very entertaining by the way, (you crack me up)the information you receive and inform us of is too good to be true. If your little spy gets caught what do you think will happen? You must really pay the little spy a lot of money for the information to be able to risk their livelyhood. I’ve come to the conclusion that ABC must not pay well.

This question is for Mary: Did you really see Frank write this apology? if you didn’t then I suggest not to believe it….he doesn’t look like he has no morals or decency….I mean he is a little insecure, that’s why he did what he did, he could not stand not knowing if Ali loved him or not… but I don’t think he would stoop so low…

Chris L. probably really said, “God I love YouTube”, which was promptly edited.

Roberto is awesome, and hot. And so nice with no arrogance about his hotness either apparently.

If they want an interesting bachelor season they could pick Wes, lol. I don’t think he’d do it, he’s been burned enough, “that bird has no foot!”.

I don’t really think she was in the fantasy suites with all the guys. They just showed curtains closing. Big deal. Chris H. probably was doing it. And a light turned out, reminded me of the editing about Ed and Jillian’s fantasy suite.

Steve, I just finished reading and you had me at hello. My rib cage has never urt this bad before. I love this part: Ali: “As you can see, Frank’s not here…he has some things back home he didn’t deal with before coming here…he’s gone home to take care of that…it’s really hard, and, it is what it is…100% positive Frank’s not the man for me…this is about me choosing someone and them choosing me back, like I’ve said from Day 1…and considering my self-esteem is in the toilet right about now, please let me know if there’s bitches back home that either of you would rather be with. It’ll save me a hell of a lot of time. Thanks. I appreciate it. Go f— yourselves, Frank and Justin.”
    I love you Steve!!!!!

    Sunnyside,

You are one of my favorite posters here. We seem to think a lot alike. Thanks for your thoughts about Roberto. I just have had such a good feeling about him from the very beginning. I don’t see any dishonesty or duplicity in him at all. I think he had a very traditional upbringing from his family and would treat any women with respect.

I read about this girlfriend on the ABC Bachelorette forum. I am pretty sure that’s where someone posted info from some gossip magazine about this girl, think her name was Gretchen. Actually, it makes more sense that he would have been dating someone before coming on the show. I have found myself thinking quite often as I watched Roberto this season – how can this guy not have a girlfriend already? The guy has it all going for him – looks, charm, personality, a true gentleman, gracious, fun, hot and sexy as anything! No way could this guy be alone!

They made it sound as though he just left her without any explanation and she found out when she saw him on the show or something like that. It didn’t sound like something Roberto would ever do. However, we don’t know if they were serious or just dating. It’s weird that this is coming out now. I think Roberto probably has women going after him all the time. Yet he seems so down-to-earth and grounded, not conceited at all.

Someone at the ABC forum posted their skype interview with Ali and she did admit that Frank was going to meet her parents! So we know that he was definitely at least F2! I am with you in thinking that Ali was going to choose him, if she were to choose anyone. I think that’s why she doesn’t choose either Roberto or Chris. Honestly, I think they are the lucky ones. Both of these guys are too good for someone as superficial and ditzy and silly at Ali. All those ridiculous tears over a confused, messed up, neurotic, insecure guy like Frank! Was this guy ever ready to get engaged or married? I will also say that being around guys like Roberto and Chris must have made him feel even more inferior and fearful of not being picked. I am honestly beginning to feel that he went back to Nicole because she was a sure thing. He knew she still wanted him, whereas he never seemed to be confident and sure enough about Ali. Let’s face it, from his point of view he must have felt that he was up against some formidable competition!

In that skype interview, Ali also said that Frank had all the qualities she told the producers she was looking for in a guy – kind of quirky, weird, interesting, funny. But now she says that those qualities would be better for a friend, not a husband. She knows that Roberto and Chris had the qualities to make a good husband. Well, it sounds like good propaganda anyway!

It’s true that we don’t know when Frank told the producers that he wanted off the show. However, from what Steve has said it appears that it was sometime when they were in New York. That was even before Iceland! I guess the producers seemed confident that Ali liked Frank a lot and was going to keep him there right up until almost the end. So their plan for the big reveal, the one shocker of the season, was going to work out well for them. I remember Frank grabbing Ali at one point and taking her outside for a walk in the rain in New York. Then they were kissing like crazy, even though she was sick as a dog! They seemed pretty into each other. Although now that I think back, knowing what we know now, maybe Frank was trying so hard because he wanted to be sure if Ali was the one for him, as he struggled with his feelings about Nicole.

At least now I can understand why Frank was acting the way he was all the time. If he was fighting with feelings for Nicole, that might help explain his almost obsessive feelings for her. He wanted to be sure she was right, or else he was going back to Nicole. I am not even upset with him at this point. I don’t think he’s a player like Justin. Now that guy is a sleaze! Frank is just a confused guy who hasn’t grown up yet. Maybe Nicole can help him get his act together, who knows? It looks like everyone is going to come out of this okay, so it’s all good.

I am kind of hoping that neither Chris or Roberto become the next bachelor. These guys can do much better on their own in the real world.

Yup…agree with you MindyM. All your commentary makes sense…if it is possible to make sense of this useless show. Anybody who truly believes a love relationship can develope in this make believe type atmosphere needs a reality check!

There was a recent article in our local paper about The Bachelorette and basically the writer said that the selected contestants should have dinner dates at McDonalds, no women is allowed to wear any make up, no fancy dresses, no exotic locals…just your basic rides on mass transit and dates at the movies or local beach dates, etc. Bet it’d be a totally different show…maybe a tad dull but certainly realistic!

And judging by how unattractive the men were this season, looks like they are having problems enticing anyone to sign up for this mess! I just can’t believe that this bunch of guys was the best they could select. No way! Even Chris isn’t movie star handsome. Now Roberto…well ’nuff said about my “future love interst”! Don’t worry Roberto…I’m commin to getcha! And I don’t wear extensions or have any zits!

Sunnyside, I was not saying Steve was wrong. All I was stated is what was posted on Franks facebook. That is all.

Mindy, I didnt see him write it and it was not a apology. I was NOT trying to discredit Steve in any way. I believe all of Steve’s info. But was just telling all of you guys what I found. And was just wondering if this would be brought up during the After the Rose Show.

OK– I have to make mention and a reminder that didn’t Ali pretty much do the same thing to Jake last season? While it wasn’t for a ‘guy’ but a job… same damn difference you strung Jake along and left him for a different love. Tables are turned now honey and sometimes what goes around comes around.

I agree with what someone commented several episodes ago—some tv channel should think about doing a series where a person dates two or three people for the whole 24 episodes and goes through the process of getting to know one another, meeting family, friends, co-workers, and working out likes and dislikes and so forth to find the “right” mate. You have to see someone continuously over a 3-4 month period & in all types of situations to even begin to know them. The whole UNreal
premise of the Bachelor show is absurd. Meet a bunch of immature singles who are attention addicts, go on over-the-top fantasy dates and expect something realistic/lasting/meaningful to occur. I watch the Bachelorette for it’s comedic aspects and so I can say GOD it’s not me doing any of that!

oh another thing, how funny when Frank said he had given up sooooooo much to be on the show, too. He had no job to leave, he had no apartment to give up or anything, and I think he got $10,000 for making it to the final four, which is probably why after that he realizes he’s in love with Nicole and has to leave.

How come Roberto was packing red suitcases then put a black one in the taxi? In addition to the water shoes Ali said they had to swim to their location cuz the boat couldn’t make it but then she had her little white skirt on again. As Steve would say bad editing

  34. Really. REALLY.

    July 21, 2010 at 9:18 PM

I’m laughing about Frank’s sunburn/tan! When he is in Chicago talking to Nicole he is his normal/ pale self. Then they make it look like he flew to Tahiti just to tell Ali he’s leaving. You know – all the footage of him arriving, wheeling in his suitcases (rather huge, considering he’s just been in Chicago & he’s not staying), not unpacking, and wheeling his suitcases back out. But he’s SUNBURNED. They ruined the “I just came to say goodbye” plausibility by having him show up with a monster tan/burn on his face! Shoulda put sunscreen on him or shot the scene with Chris H. OUTSIDE! Meanwhile, fair Ali has managed to stay pristinely un-tan through her parade-style entrance and two dates in the water/on the beach/on a boat. They must accost her with sunblock between every take!!

Um….really.REALLY. Not to pick bones here, but I live in Florida, am not fair skinned (part Cherokee), and if I walk out in the mid-day sun for 10 minutes on a majorly sunny day, even I will get a little red in the face. Frank lives in Chicago, I’m sure between the trip and getting to the island and whatnot, he would have gotten a burn/tan. As for Ali, I don’t think she was un-tan at all. As for the other stuff, yeah, bad editing.

And I really hated her mis-matched bikini and the tent-dress as well. As well as finding the whole “oh, a card, what could it be, blah blah” everyone knows by now, I don’t care if they haven’t watched the show or not at least one of their friends probably has, they know it’s the FS. And it is kinda gross and skeezy to think about screwing someone you pretty much know has been with someone else within a day or two. I mean, unless she’s standing on the corner and you’re paying for it. Well, that’s still skeezy. And Ali is getting paid for it. So are the guys. But whatever.

Oh, and I haven’t read through all the comments, going from the bottom up, but on another message board someone mentioned that one show like the Bachelor where the guy was in the outback with the girls? Can’t remember the name. Now that was pretty damn funny and a little more realistic, as far as finding what the girls could deal with living in tents and cooking food and all that.

When Ali pulled out the fantasy suite card for Chris L. and said it was from Chris Harrrison, Chris L.’s comment was hilarious! He looked around for Chris H. on this little tiny island, Ali laughed and said, “He’s not here!”, and then Chris L. said, “Is he going to show up in scuba gear or something?” It was funny! Then, his reaction after reading the card and saying, “There’s a fantasy suite?!” was priceless, too. For the first half of the season, I kind of thought Chris L. was a great guy who was somewhat boring, but lately, I’ve caught some of his funny comments and realize he could be a refreshing change for the next bachelor. We’ll see…But, other than the Frank situation, the last few episodes have been quite boring….

Anyone else think Chris is too good for Ali? That he can do so much better?

And who seriously thought Ali would move to Cape Cod, abandonning all her future dreams of working in the entertainment business? I certainly don’t.

Latinlover, please join Mindy and I in our quest to capture and have our way with Roberto! I’d love to make that guy sweat! Whoo hooo!

I just don’t think Chris has enough going for him to be the Bachelor. He does have a sense of humor but I just don’t think he is interesting enough. Know nothing about him but plenty of his mother’s illness and death.

Maybe a totally new guy would be the best thing. But secretly I want Roberto…just so I can watch all the babes droll all over him while knocking each other over to spend a few precious minutes with him! I think there would be plenty of interesting moments! And wonder if he’d become a hound with all the attention he’d get.

I agree with you Nell. Chris is too good for Ali, and he can do much better. I’ve liked Chris from day one. He seems real. Too real for this show.

As far as Frank, his story line of how he found love is better the the Bachelor/ette “finding love story line”. His story seems real.

    July 22, 2010 at 1:10 PM

    Latinlover,

By all means you may join Sunnyside and myself and we can all kidnap Roberto and have him all to ourselves! Oh, what Steve would say about the three of us and our fantasies! Who cares! It’s what makes the world go ’round!

I think Chris has to kind of grow on you. At first, I honestly did not think he was all that much, either looks or personality, but now he is showing more of himself. He just seems quiet, takes a while to feel comfortable and open and has a nice sense of humor. Initially I thought he was bland and boring, but now I can see that there is more to him. I am with those who say that he is too good for Ali. I still think he needs a bit more time to work through the death of his mother. Losing a parent at any time in your life is hard. It takes a really long time to get through the grieving process. I still think he would be better off getting back out in the dating scene and enjoying all the attention he is bound to get from women who think he is quite the catch! I think he’s going to be fine. Ali is no loss. There is a much better woman out there for him. I don’t think Ali is nearly mature enough for him and her superficiality doesn’t mesh well with his sincerity and realness.

I also think that Roberto is way too good for Ali. I don’t want her to choose him, because he can do so much better. This guy has it going on. This is coming from someone who is not easily impressed. He seems to be so happy, with a positive outlook on life, a real joie de vivre! He is beyond charming, funny, gracious, so well-mannered in an almost old-fashioned way and a personality that just won’t quit. I love how he doesn’t even know how good-looking he is and how he is so humble and grounded.

How on earth did a sleazy, phony show like this manage to get two quality guys like Chris and Roberto? Even though I am not mad or upset with Frank, because for one thing he’s not worth it and for another it’s just hard to take him seriously, I still think he is not anywhere in the same league as Chris and Roberto. It’s so obvious! It’s not just about the looks either. Frank has always struck me as a bundle of nerves and neuroses. I think he’s extremely insecure and had to work harder to get Ali to notice him than either Roberto or Chris. All Roberto had to do was get out of the limo and smile and that was it!

In the end, maybe it was as simple as Frank going for the sure thing with his girlfriend and not risking being rejected by Ali. He may well have thought he didn’t stand a chance alongside Chris and Roberto. For some reason that I will never truly understand, Ali saw something in him that appealed to her. Now that she has admitted that he was going to be F2, I keep having this feeling that she might have chosen him if she were actually ever going to choose anyone.

I have mixed feelings about Roberto being the next bachelor. It would be fun to see the women falling all over themselves for him, but I kind of wish he would just find someone in real life. Nothing ever works out on this show. On other forums there is a lot of speculation that TPTB are planning a surprise and that they have figured out a way to get around Steve and the spoilers. I am still reading that Ali picks Roberto, although I have to go with Steve and his info. He hasn’t been wrong yet.

Ali was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night. Did anyone see the show? Not that she will give anything away per her contract.!

Those producers will never bring suit against any of the participants as they wouldn’t want the phoniness of the show revealed in open court. There are still folks out there who perceive this show as a quest for love! Ha!

    Mindy M,
I really enjoyed your posts. Though I like Roberto,I have to say that I would rather kidnap Chris! Watching The Bachelor/Bachelorette has always been my guilty pleasure and now since discovering Reality Steve and reading these comments on his site it makes it more interesting.
I’m actually from MA and my parents live in Dennis, where Chris is from, so I even got my mom to tune in this season. My dad thinks it’s the craziest show but what else is there to watch in the summer, unless the Red Sox are playing! I liked Chris right away because he seemed so normal and down to earth. My mom agreed and of course wished she had discovered him before the producers…yes, she is still holding out hope that she will find a nice guy for me and in Chris’s case I wish she had! At least he is living proof that there are nice guys still out there! My dad had read about Chris in the local paper and said he seemed too classy to be on the show. As usual, Dad’s always right…
As I read what you wrote, that it took awhile for Chris to feel comfortable, open up and show his sense of humor, I thought that is usually how most dating relationships worth pursuing unfold and he was definitely worth the wait!
As for his mom dying and all the people commenting that they’ve heard enough already, thank you for your empathy and understanding. You obviously know what it is to lose a parent. My family, like Chris’s, is very close. When my mom was diagnosed last summer with stage 4 ovarian cancer, losing her was almost a reality. Fortunately, by the grace of God, who I thank every day,she is still with us. Like Chris, I moved in to help my dad take care of her. Also like Chris’s parents, my parents have an unbelievable relationship of 47 years and I can say, having experienced it firsthand, that it is heartbreaking to see your parents have to go thru the pain of a sickness like cancer. I think he is an incredibly sweet and strong person. It is something significant that he went thru and his talking about his mom’s dying is part of the grieving process to help him heal.
I think Chris was brave to put himself back out there and go on the show. I have to agree with you and all those who say he is too good for Ali. I hope he takes your advice and starts dating locally… maybe I’ll have more to add to this comment 😉

Kbo, you should email Chris or maybe you guys need some lanscaping done :0) I’m sure he is in need of love and nuture after what Aly just put him throught !!!! I think both of your families would click very well together by what you’ve written!!! Good luck !!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Lucetto. Funny that you should mention landscaping because although my parents already do have a landscaper, several of my parents’ friends have had work done by Chris’s dad. He is known as the “Duke Of Dennis” and he does great work. If they weren’t so loyal to the guy we hired, my mom had joked that she could call and find a project for Lambton Landscaping. I’m beginning to think my mom has a crush on him too! So, although I’d love to help mend his broken heart if Ali crushed him, I’ll take my chances that maybe I’ll run into him having a beer at one of the local establishments this fall. By then, he’ll be like “Ali who?”

The supposedly suspenseful music just about drives me around the bend.

I really like reading this blog because Reality Steve puts many of my thoughts and opinions into words.

Chris Harrison’s smarmy tone is too, too much.
