The Bachelor 15 - Brad

“Two Outs, Two Strikes, Bottom of the 9th Inning. What Do I Throw?”

…that was what I wrote as part of my tweet this past Saturday night before I headed out to the movies to see “Just Go With It”. By the way, we can now add Brooklyn Decker to my “list”. I know, real shocker, huh? Anyway, why did I tweet that? Because this season, I’ve been pitching a perfect game. Every date, rose, elimination has been dead on since Day 1. I’ve even given you stuff that wasn’t even shown on the show (the Vegas tattoos, Ashley H’s ex boyfriend who died two weeks before filming, Brad kissing all nine girls on the Dr. Drew date, etc). So we’ve come to this. I’ve retired the first 26 batters without giving up a hit or a walk. We’re down to the last strike. One more out and I’ve got a perfect game for the season. So, what do I throw? If I were ever a major league pitcher, you go with your best stuff, so I’m going with the fastball. One problem. That fastball was deposited into the 15th row of the outfield bleachers by Albert Pujols and the perfect game has come to an end. For all you non-baseball fans, what does that mean? It means my sources have been wrong about the ending of the show.

Brad is engaged to Emily.

It’s been a crazy last 96 hours to say the least, but yes, it is true. Trust me, for the guy that has sat here for the last three months pounding on his chest and screaming from the top of the Empire State Building like King Kong that “Brad is engaged to Chantal”, the last thing I wanna do is tell you I was wrong the whole time. Well, I was. I apologize. We’ll get to the “why” and the “how” in a little bit as I give you a inside look into my last week. If there are still those that doubt it’s Emily and thinking well maybe someone is trying to fool me or throw me off, just think about this. Do you think after being wrong about Ali and Roberto’s ending, and having said it’s Chantal for the last three months, I would come out and admit to this different ending if it was just some hunch that I had? I’m more than 100% (if that’s possible), absolutely, positively, without a doubt telling you Brad is engaged to Emily and he has been since South Africa. You will see this on March 14th. I’m just glad I was able to get it to you with two weeks to spare, because in the end, this site is about two things in my opinion: Humorous, snarky, sarcastic recaps, and telling you what’s going to happen before you actually see it happen. Well, now you know.

There are a lot of factors that led up to this and me finding out about this ending last week, and I will get to those in a brief second. But let me first and foremost get some much needed apologies out of the way immediately.

To my readers: Sorry I gave you the wrong info. Wasn’t my intention. Had every reason to believe the information I had was right. My sources don’t lie to me. Apparently though, at some point, THEY were given bad information, which has been the case now in back-to-back seasons regarding the ending of the show. Were they PURPOSELY given false information? Impossible to know and ever prove. They say they weren’t, so I gotta believe them. I still talk to my sources, they are acquaintances of mine, and I appreciate what they’ve done for me in recent seasons. We just need to tighten the screws up a bit to get this damn ending correct next time.

To emailers: If at any point over the last three months, you emailed me something in regards to me possibly being wrong about this seasons ending, and I shot back with “I don’t know how many times I have to say it, Brad and Chantal are engaged”, I’m sorry as well. You gotta understand that it happens every season, and I really try and respond back to everyone who takes the time to write me. And since I posted the spoilers back in December, I had no reason to ever doubt I was wrong, so that was my stock answer to everyone who questioned the ending. I must’ve sent that email out over 200 times the last three months. I know now I should’ve either just ignored them or responded in a different way.

To Brad Womack: For having to keep a poker face all season when bombarded about Chantal because I reported it. Remember when I posted the audio clip of Brad on with “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” here in Dallas a while back? At the time, I always thought it was weird why he was so complimentary of me and like “Yep, wow that guy is good. I don’t know where he gets his info from, but he definitely knows his stuff”. Because I’ve been so blind to everything the past three months, it makes sense now: Of course he was complimenting and propping me up…he knew I was wrong about the ending! He knew that when people kept seeing the episode-by-episode spoilers were correct, it would only add to the credibility I’d be right about the ending. Smart move, Brad. He played it well.

To Fans of Chantal: Sorry to burst your bubble. Whether you believed it was her because of what I told you back on Dec. 8th, or because of what you saw on your television screen, as I always say, never let the edit shown on television shape who you think is the one chosen in the end. The editors of this show know exactly what they’re doing in getting you to think and feel certain ways about people. Been doing it for 21 seasons, and will continue to do it. What we’ve seen them showing us all season is Brad’s incredible physical chemistry with Chantal, and awkward, weird conversations with Emily where he genuinely seems uncomfortable at times. And what does it all mean in the end? A whole lot of nothing.

To Emily Maynard: Actually, I probably don’t need to apologize to Emily. If anything, she should be THANKING me for taking the attention off her all season, because I’m guessing it would’ve been a hell of a lot worse on her if I was calling her Brad’s final choice all season. Which brings me to my final, and probably most important, apology of the season…

To Chantal O’Brien: For having to endure the scrutiny of being the alleged “final choice” all season long, when she knew for the last three months that she wasn’t. Of course, Chantal was going to get attention this season because of the slap, and because she made it all the way to the end, but having the “final choice” label thrown on you a month before the season even begins, and constantly talked about as the final one in my blog all season long, probably didn’t help matters.

So what happened? How was I led to believe it was Chantal for the last three months? I could talk for 10 pages about how everything went down back in November with my sources when they told me the ending, where I was when they told me, what I was told, why I believed it, how it came about, etc. I just don’t see the point now. It’s not gonna matter to most of you. It’s wrong. Doesn’t matter how or why it was wrong, it was just wrong. Just know, I have to trust what my sources tell me. I’m as good as the info they give me. We’re a team. They know a hell of a lot more than I do, and have been right pretty much all the time. So I don’t have room to question it really. They’ve been really good for two years now. However, I can be clear about one point. Even though you may find this hard to believe and it’s damn near impossible for me to prove it to you, trust me when I say the O’Briens did spend Thanksgiving at their vacation home in California. Brad obviously just wasn’t there as I was originally told. The fact of the matter is Brad has been engaged to Emily this whole time, and basically I put so much trust into my sources for the last three months, that I buried my head in the sand because I refused to believe I had the ending wrong. All the while, I missed out on quite a few things. Let me give you the timeline of last week to tell you how and where it all started breaking down for me.

Yay, you were wrong!!!! Brad just earned back some reputation. Now I hope he’s happy. I wonder if it was Chantal’s figure? He looks like such a fitness freak, maybe that was it. No worries RS, more entertainment for us. I’m still a huge fan.

I love it! You finally got me interested in watching Brad the dud again. I could care less who he picks or if you’ve been right all along… all I know is my adrenaline is pumping over this news. Don’t ever change a thing about your blogging, just be you, balls to the wall, only way to do it! It’s the reason you have so many followers. Don’t ever let “them” get to you or question what you’re doing. Remember, this is all for fun. Stand proud and let them laugh at you while you laugh all the way to the bank baby!

I enjoy the blog, and will continue reading it even though Steve is wrong sometimes. I do hope though, as others have stated, that he does leave the arrogance at the door. Gosh Steve, this has to humble you at least a little, doesn’t it? LOL re the Spy vs Spy reference, that was a good one! I appreciated the apologies, thanks. Glad that wasn’t turned into something back handed, and it reads very genuinely.

I’m with “Sunshine Soup” on this one. It’s actually kind of more fun that you’re wrong, because we get to be surprised after all! Particularly this season which has been so freakin’ boring I’ve FF’d through most of it.

GREAT comment SunshineSoup, said everything I wanted to say.

And also, FORT people are scary. I spent Thursday night reading there because I heard they predicted Emily as the F1 and like… Yikes. They do this thing they call “sleuthing”.

    I’m scared of them.

I feel much more at home here, RS, but tone down the smug. Love your readers! 😀

I am SO glad it will be Emily in the end. Remember people, editing is done to make you believe a certain way..they are editing Emily and Brad to have this odd connection (let’s face it, it doesn’t seem like Emily is much into him). This is done to make it APPEAR that him and Chantal have this CRAZY chemistry so that we would think that she would be the F1 and be shocked when she is not. They have done this to us SO many times, so I’ve ALWAYS been skeptical of Steve’s prediction that it would be Chantal because it just seems too easy, not to mention the fact that Brad is smitten by Emily (he doesnt even know how to act around her).

Anyway, no worries Steve, I still love your site regardless.

Who cares if Steve was wrong? How is it his fault that his sources were wrong? Yes, he was trusting of his sources but why shouldn’t he be when they have been right for so long? One season with a little bit of bad info (Ali’s) does not a failure make. Now that he has been given bad info twice, he may naturally not trust his sources as much. Next season, he may say something like ‘this is what my sources gave me but I can’t guarantee it is right.’

Also, don’t forget what Steve has said himself – “I hate when other shows say ‘Reality Steve predicts’ because I am not predicting. Predicting is when you guess. I am reporting what I heard, not what my guess is.”

I personally love this site and cannot get enough! I actually feel bad for Steve. I don’t know if he is being given wrong info on purpose or if the source thought it was right and it turned out to be wrong. Not his fault. And I know everyone keeps saying this, but if you don’t like him or the way he writes, don’t read it! Go somewhere else! I literally laugh out loud everytime I read one of his columns. He is funny and entertaining and I read this just for what it is – entertainment, nothing too serious.

Keep it up Steve. I love it all!

Nobody: i thought the same thing (about the pic) haha

Anyway. . . do any of you at all question the whole ending and who the next bachelorette is now based on what we all just read? I still have a feeling that there will be another twist or something. I think ABC is completely mindf-ing with all of those trying to figure out the outcome. Though Steve was given all of this new info. how does he know for sure now that all of this info. is purely correct? Maybe he doesn’t really pick anyone and Laurel makes an entrance and accepts his proposal lol. Maybe Ashley really isn’t the next bachelorette but Steve was thrown yet another curve ball. I don’t know – I can’t wait to really find out the ending!

“Mhalterm” – what makes you sure that those pictures are from Ricky? They are probably from Brads nieces/nephews? (not sure if he has any, but a huge possibility).

Can’t wait to find out MORE change of plan spoilers ( : It actually keeps things more interesting!

THANKS STEVE FOR DOING ALL YOU DO TO KEEP US ENTERTAINED!!

Did I not say last week that this was looking to neat to be true? Anyway, Steve – you manned up (again) and that’s the important thing. You still have very good sources because the bulk of the information does turn out accurate.

That being said, after getting the bum steer on the most important question two seasons straight, I’ll say what I said the last time around – DON’T make yourself 100% sure unless you really are. That means getting every detail of the final show before predicting. In fact, I got news for you: this time you think you’ve got it nailed two weeks before the finale while last year you corrected yourself right before the finale? The “smell test” is telling me there’s still another hook to come. I’m not so sure Emily is etched in stone either. I highly doubt a Jason-Melissa-Molly repeat is in the offing but something really is telling me there’s something else coming up and you’ll be posting yet another correction because of it. On the bright side, take it as an honor that ABC has to really put it’s thinking caps on to alleviate audience boredom.

If it is Emily – no way it lasts either. Brad doesn’t strike me one bit as somebody who wants to immediately inherit a child in his life. I think whatever attraction from his end is about 180 percent physical and that’s about it.

  15. Fassero

    February 28, 2011 at 11:44 AM

Correction to earlier message. The end of the last sentence in the first paragraph should have read “…because the bulk of the information DOES turn out to be accurate”.

Just some manning up of my own 🙂

Mhalterm: I’m sorry – I watched the clip just now where Emily gives that picture to Brad (from Ricky) and after watching the clip you posted I can see that it is 100% the exact same drawing! ( :

    February 28, 2011 at 11:54 AM

Wow! I’m so GLAD he picked Emily! I actually have started not to like Brad b/c of all the Laurel stuff, and I wasn’t crazy about Chantal b/c of all her ex-hubby stuff, and I figured that Brad and Chantal were meant for each other (not that they’d work out or anything!) b/c of their problems, etc. But, I’ve always loved Emily and thought her to be genuinely kind and beautiful inside and out (although she probably would’ve been boring as the bachelorette b/c she has morals, for which I respect her). Anyway, all the episodes shown seem to show her genuine care for Brad and he seems enamored by her as well, so I figured he must’ve felt she was too good for him. Anyway, now I can actually see Brad and Emily working out and I certainly hope they do, for little Ricki’s sake. The video RS posted shows how happy Brad seems to be now, and I think he genuinely loves Emily AND her daughter, and for that, I have no hate for Brad and/or his past. The past, after all, is the past….

I personally love your blog. The fact that you were wrong about the ending just makes it that much more exciting. If you were right all along, then I would not have gotten so excited about this new news today. Thanks Reality Steve! Keep up the good work!

Well, as someone who reads for the snark, as opposed to the spoilers, I don’t mind that for months the ending that was published was wrong. In fact, I was annoyed when reading the regular weekly column and found out it was (supposedly) Chantal.

I know RS warns people that there may be spoilers in the Recaps, but I’ve always felt that the Recaps should be exactly that (no spoilers) and the spoilers/insider info should be in a separate link where those who want them can get them. Now, that the ending has been wrong….twice….I am hoping RS will strongly consider this too.

Hey Steve….kudos to you….for at least trying!
So, you got some right….some wrong.
    C’est la vie!
Nobody’s life depended on your spoilers being right.
And nobody has to read….or believe what you write.
I personally think you get a bit snarky at times….and your ego does get in the way from time to time.
But over all, it’s all harmless fun.
And you probably do put in a lot of hours to get all that info.
So….from one Canadian fan…..thank you for all your efforts.
Looking forward to your spoilers in futur shows.

RS … can’t build an empire or even a decent reputation on a house or cards. It isn’t that your sources that were wrong, you were for you are entirely out of your league.

The easiest tell is the story of Brad spending Thanksgiving with his F1’s family … that would have never happened, this season or any in past.

Whether the info leaked to Steve was wrong on purpose or by accident, I feel like I’ve been given a new Christmas present under the tree after having peeked into the first one. It’s a certain kind of person who wants to know the ending ahead of time anyhow. My daughter, for example, would never ever want to know. For her knowing spoils everything. But, on the other hand, many of us, myself included, are the kind of people who will peek at our Christmas presents ahead of time if we can get away with it. And, what a fun twist to have peeked and then to be surprised at the end anyhow. In some ways it would have been better to not have known until the final night. But, even so, this is fun!

Just watched the video of Brad on page two of your post. I am in shock this is a 38 year old man? His twin is also 38 and a father, unbelivable, everyone keeps saying that all the girls but Emily are to inmature? He is drivning the car while drinking a beer and Brad thinks it is OK and has it video taped. Just kind of confirms to me what I was thinking all along. Never saw why everyone things he is so great and the total package? :o)

Well, according to the definition of the word “spoilers” RS wasn’t wrong. He kept adjusting and just changed everything 2 weeks before the airing of the show. Steve, you’ve been right about everything else this season & last except for the final choices. Apparently ABC has gotten better at keeping the final choice secret. IDK, maybe they have only a couple of cameramen/producers during the finale.
Anyway, since I don’t like reading the obsessive postings over at FORT, I will still get my bachelor/ette info here- as I’m sure most everybody else will.

  34. reflects on life

    February 28, 2011 at 2:06 PM

At the risk of sounding exceedingly trite, it’s the journey that counts, not the destination. This twist just adds the the journey, so IMO it’s all good. I usually just catch the show on Hulu here & there, but due to this twist, I’ll prob watch on TV tonite.

What would be really intersting is if F1 really IS chantal after all, and this week’s emily-gate on FORT and RS were just instigated by Fleiss to add to the drama of this otherwise lifeless season? Maybe Brad says “I love you” to both women tonite, but ABC didn’t include Chantal’s in the edit, just to keep people on the emily-gate bandwagon? Then ABC would really have succeeded in turning RS’s spoilers into rumours. Which in a way would add some spice back to this show.

How do we know for certain that Chantal isn’t the new bachelorette? If the new bachelorette isn’t announced tonite, there’s no way of truly knowing. I wonder if Michelle, Chantal, and Ashley were essentially competing for the next Bachelorette spot in the Sports Illustrated episode? They all amp’d up the sexy and the drama…

It’s funny how RS has said all season that the drama isn’t on the show this season, but off the show. But then Michelle’s affair, Chantal’s ex, and Brad’s Lauren were all non-starters… Turns out the drama this season has been neither on nor off the show but WITH the show – spoiling the spoilers, keeping everyone off balance. This is true entertainment!

To the readers who care, don’t. Just enjoy the ride.

To RS, your smug persona in your writing is part of its entertainment value. But this same smug persona in real life might be blinding your rationality & objectivity. You might consider cultivating more sources. Just like when you told me to take a hike when I sent you a screenshot showing that your new “bach brad spoilers” link was no longer showing up in Firefox but still working in IE. Interestingly enough, a few days later you added a 2nd “bach brad spoilers” link on the Home bar – I’m assuming you received more complaints from Firefox users? Well I’m guessing your “I am right, therefore you must be an idiot” approach might be blinding you to rational analysis & followthrough with your sources also. Just a thought… 🙂

Keep doing what you are doing, I’ll keep reading and so will many others.

I call BS on this story. Steve’s page views are down since he spilled all of his spoilers three months ago. What’s the point of checking back frequently when we know all the secrets? I think he planned this “reveal” all season as a way to maintain traffic/interest. Sure, his “credibility” could be hurt, but that just makes people more invested in checking the site frequently to see what else he might be wrong about.

As for me, I don’t read this site because I need to know who wins, or who gets eliminated in what order, but because I love knowing the behind-the-scenes drama and editing secrets, like the switcheroo in Jason’s season or the Roslyn/Frank storyline manipulations. As a TV/pop culture buff, I just personally find that stuff more interesting. As long as that stuff still appears on here, I’ll be checking back.

I’m probably not the first to suggest this (but I’m not going to read all these replies), but they probably passed on Chantal as the Bachelorette to keep this season a mystery. If they picked her then you would know you were wrong and Emily was the pick. They’re trying to make you look bad Steve-o!

RS: your spoilers are not why I read this blog, right or wrong I’m still going to read your blog for your humor.

Sad thing is the haters are really going to be nailing you now. I’m actually glad he picks Emily over Chantal, she’s too much of a cry baby.

Call me crazy, but being wrong will actually HELP Steve’s column/ business/traffic. Why? Because he’s so un-politically correct, brash, and arrogant, there are lots of people out there who LOVE to see him wrong. Just for that, people will read his column with the hopes that he will be wrong again. RS is a mercurial figure in the reality TV blogging world, and him being wrong about the ending again will only help him. My two cents. PS: I don’t read your column for the spoilers, I read your column because your episode recaps are f-ing hilarious. Keep doing your thing Steve!

    1 Tbsp lard/shortening
    1 pint stock or gravy
    2 Tbsp cream
    1/2 cup mushrooms
    salt and pepper
    cayenne pepper

Clean and cut crows into small portions and let them cook a short time in the lard/shortening in a saucepan, being careful not to brown them.
Next, add to the contents of the pan, the stock or gravy, and salt, pepper and cayenne to taste.
Simmer 1 hour, or until tender, add mushrooms, simmer 10 minutes more and then stir in cream.
Arrange the mushrooms around the crows on a hot platter.

No biggie in my book. It does make me wonder though who is duping who – are your sources duping you or is someone duping them.

Baaaawaaahhhh FORT had this info out way before RS did. Way to go FORT-second year in a row. RS will never come to the board and admit he received his info from the board.

Been reading this site for awhile, but this is my first reply. I think you do an awesome job at this whole spoiling thing. Not many people would be able to do what you do week in & week out! For what it’s worth, thanks for giving us the “heads up” when you did. It takes a real person to admit when they’re wrong, then to apologize about it.

I will continue to look forward at reading this site every Tuesday & Friday!! Thanks again!!

We love you Steve! Ignore the haters. It’s your blog, you don’t have to make any apologies (but it’s very “big” of you that you did).

Besides, I think you all made us VERY happy because we love Emily!

And as much as it would suck for you — I truly hope that your sources were wrong about Ashley. Chantal would be WAY more interesting to watch than Ashley. haha

It has been a lackluster season as far as entertainment goes. Your blog has been way more interesting than what we’ve been watching. I personally do not care about Brad or who he is or is not with.

Love you, RS. So what if you were wrong about the ending. You’re still a great writer, you’re funny, you have a voice for radio or television, and — you have Maddie!!

Keep up the good work, young man. 🙂
