Want to first start out this week by sending my deepest regards to Michelle Money and her family after the passing of her father from colon cancer this weekend. I don’t think many people knew her dad was sick until the first episode when she shared it in her hometown video, nor did people probably have a clue how far along he was. I certainly didn’t. But obviously it’s terrible to hear something like that happen and thoughts and prayers go out to her for what they’re going through right now. Can’t be easy. I think with the tragedy she just suffered, plus Graham’s charity “46 NYC,” I don’t see how those two don’t get a majority of the votes at the end of the show over Michael and Holly. Well, Holly at least. Michael definitely has people on his side based on the reaction so far.
Let me say something in regards to all the talk regarding Michael as possibly the next “Bachelor.” There is no doubt the guy will have all of America rooting for him when this sh** show is over. Hell, I’m even rooting for the guy now, but obviously for different reasons. He definitely has a backstory heading in to the “Bachelor” where women will want to see him find love, the finale for BP is on Sept. 12th, and filming for “Bachelor” starts shortly thereafter, so it is possible if they were gonna NOT go with someone from Ashley’s season and try for someone from BP, Michael would be the logical pick. HOWEVER, I just don’t think it’s gonna happen barring Ames, Ryan, or Ben turning it down once it’s offerend to one of them, since it’s gonna be one of those three who get offered it first. Michael would be a great choice, but remember, final casting weekend for the girls was the weekend before “Bachelor Pad” started. Those women hadn’t seen Michael’s story play out before they went for final interviews giving their opinion of who they wanted to see as the “Bachelor.” So although it sucks for Michael fans, I really don’t see him being the next “Bachelor.” Of course I could be wrong, and there could be a 180 done at the last minute, but all signs point to Ames, Ryan, or Ben, with Ben being the clear front runner right now. The official announcement won’t come for a while, but I’m guessing I should know for sure in the next couple weeks.
I think I have a good idea who it’s gonna be based on the things that I’ve heard so far. Granted, I’m not saying it’s official yet because I haven’t been told, but all signs are pointing to one guy. Watch my interview yesterday morning with “Good Morning Texas” and you’ll hear me say who I think it’s probably gonna be.
So I’ve decided to take a little road trip this weekend to Houston. Never been there before, I have a friend whose band is playing in Spring, TX on Saturday night that I’ll be attending, but figured I’d make the drive down Friday afternoon and enjoy a nice weekend in a steaming hot sauna. Good chance I’m gonna be out at the Astros/Giants game Friday night, but afterwards, who knows where I’ll end up. Anyone have suggestions, I’m open for them since, well, I have no idea where I’m going. What the hell. Isn’t that the fun part about it? Being in a city you have no idea about and running rampant? Even if it is 1,000 degrees with 500% humidity? I’ll live. Dallas has basically been over 100 every day since June 1st, although we don’t have quite the humidity that swampy Houston does. Oh well. Looking forward to it anyway. On to last night…
There’s one thing I need to address this season that’s completely different from last season and it’s pretty much doing ABC a disservice to their own show. In case you aren’t following them, pretty much every cast member this season has a Twitter account and they are tweeting throughout the show their thoughts on what’s happening. Well, now we essentially have two different storylines for this show: what we’re seeing on TV and what these people are tweeting during the show. Why? Because basically every one of them is bitching and moaning about something in the edit regarding their “character.” Never before has ABC allowed this. Last season on BP, the contestants weren’t allowed to tweet during the season. And obviously for “Bachelor/ette”, those people aren’t allowed to tweet anything related to the show. Now it’s become an open forum where these contestants are refuting stuff that ABC is showing. Is that really a good idea? Case in point last night, the rose Melissa gave to Blake on their yacht date, when the show made it seem like it was going to Kasey, and when it wasn’t, shows him upset that Melissa betrayed him. Kasey takes to Twitter last night and says he and Melissa talked about it on the yacht, and since he knew he was safe, he was in full agreement to let Melissa give the rose to Blake and had no problem with it. However, the show made it seem the complete opposite. Now the contestants are even exposing the shows editing. It’s great for getting the real story out there, but millions of more people watch the show than follow these people on Twitter.
One of the big storylines last night was Blake playing Melissa and saying a bunch of sh** about her in his ITM’s that he never said to her face. Hey, if that’s how he wants to come across on TV, then so be it. But to see contestants last night running to Twitter to defend themselves, and try and pinpoint every single instance where something that was shown was wrong or taken out of context was pretty high schoolish if you ask me. I checked a lot of their accounts last night, and Blake is answering tweets from people to bash Melissa and calling her crazy, while Melissa is retweeting everyone who’s defending her and calling Blake a jerk. On and on and on it goes. These people care WAAAAAAY too much what people who they don’t even know think of them. Really? You’re going to try and convince everyone to like you and defend yourself from something on TV? Seriously, grow up. Blake, you admitted during the show that your strategy was basically to side with Melissa, someone you didn’t particular have an attraction to but knew that she was attracted to you, in order to advance further in the game. Actually, I applaud that. If you’ve read my take on “Survivor” over the years, I’ve always been about doing what you have to do to advance, no matter who you piss off and lie to. So for that, I have absolutely no problem with Blake’s strategy in the game.
However, I think fans of this show are having a hard time separating the “Bachelor/ette” franchise with the “Bachelor Pad.” This is a COMPLETELY different animal. There’s not some bogus engagement to someone you’ve known six weeks waiting at the end. It’s 250k, which is something pretty much all these people can use. So to get to that end goal, you’re gonna have to lie, backstab, and betray some people. That’s the name of the game. Blake is playing the game at the expense of Melissa. If that’s what he chose to do, then that’s fine. But for Christ sakes, own up to it. Running to Twitter last night and continually calling her crazy, and saying she fell for you after one night is complete chicken sh**. The only thing Blake should be tweeting during these episodes is, “I had a strategy to do whatever I could to advance in the game. That meant using Melissa, and it worked for a short time. I’m sorry for what I did to her, it sucks that I had to do it, but it’s a game, and I wanted $250k.” That’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. But to sit there and STILL trash the woman for falling for you is just being a complete jerk. So she fell for you, and you didn’t want her to. Well, when you play with fire, sometimes you get burned. Your strategy, albeit very smart in this game of “Bachelor Pad,” came with consequences. Deal with it and be a man about it. The guy is completely making himself look like more of an ass by continuing to trash her on Twitter.
Both of these two should just shut up and stop tweeting about what the other said, what the other did, etc. It’s over and done with. I guarantee if one person stops, the other one will. And if they don’t, then it makes them look even worse. Melissa needs to stop retweeting people who are sticking up for her and calling Blake a jerk, and Blake needs to stop acting like a douche and own up to his gameplay. I swear these people are in their own world thinking that they’re not above criticism. If you can’t handle what fans say about you, then don’t go on the show. It goes for every single contestant who appears on any of these shows. If you’re worried about what some fan who has 10 followers says about you in a tweet enough to respond to them to defend yourself, you are a complete moron. Nothing you say will convince them, and if ANYTHING, it’s gonna make them hate on you even more. Are these contestants that insecure that they have to tell people to stop saying mean things about them on Twitter? Really? These are very thin skinned people because it seems like none of them can listen to one negative thing said about them without addressing it. Let it go. The more you feed into the haters, the more they’re gonna keep coming and keep tweeting you and keep on your case. By responding to them, they’re winning. You think being on this show a second, or some even a third time, these people would figure out how this stuff works. Nope. Man, what a bunch of whining, insecure babies who can’t take responsibility for their own actions. I expect it from the newbies who are experiencing this show for the first time, but these are “vets.” They should know better.
