As for the “Bachelor”, the bachelorettes vying for Ben will arrive in LA on Saturday and are sequestered from each other until filming begins next Tuesday night. I haven’t decided when I’m gonna start releasing some of the names and pictures that I have. Right now, I have seven. But those won’t all be getting released at the same time. Just going to sporadically release names throughout the next few months. A lot of of you have asked, “Why Ben?” just like you’ve asked with every single lead that’s been announced. Some like em’, some don’t. Just like with anything else ever in the world. There isn’t a single person, event, team, etc that EVERYONE in America universally agrees on. I hope you people realize what ABC is selling with Ben. Hell, watch that video package on him last night and it’s obvious. Is Ben the greatest looking guy in the world? Of course not. But they’re not selling his looks. They’re selling the fantasy of, “Wow, I could move to Sonoma and be married to the co-owner of a winery.” Don’t tell me the women on the show aren’t thinking that going in, because they are. And ABC will play it up.
Ben is a guy that in the 3 months since Ashley’s filming ended, started hanging out with Britt (obviously wasn’t exclusive, but they saw each other on more than one occasion), and within five days of his finale airing, had a date with Jennifer Love Hewitt that was set up through publicists. Lets be real: This guy is LOVING the attention this show brought. Not only to him, but his winery. This is going to be an 11 week commercial for Evolve Wines. This is just as much a business decision as it was to “find love.” Remember, in the history of the “Bachelor” franchise, all 15 seasons of it (talking about “Bachelor”, not “Bachelorette” people), not a single one of them has ever married the final girl they chose. Not one. I’m supposed to believe Ben will be any different after seeing him chase skirt while his season aired and afterwards? Lets just say I’m not holding my breath.
Chris stated last night the “Bachelor” begins airing on January 2nd, 2012, which is the exact same schedule as the previous four “Bachelor” seasons – the first Monday of the new year. Hell, we can pretty much give you the start date to the season after that too. Checking my calendar, the first Monday in 2013 is January 7th, so mark that down right now. 2014? January 6th. There. Now you know when the show will be starting for the next 3 years. And if this season starts January 2nd, you can pretty much assume it ends Monday March 12th, going off their past shooting schedules. Sometimes, it’s just really too easy with this show. Like shooting fish in a barrel. I just got finished laying out a whole season of what was going to happen on “Bachelor Pad” and every detail was right. Hell, I even told you stuff that never ended up getting shown. Now I’m on to Ben’s season and have more information now than I’ve had before the start of any previous season. Looking forward to more spoiling.
Last thing before today’s recap, and that’s that we have a lot of new shows starting up in the next couple weeks which will be recapped on the site. “Survivor”, “X Factor”, and “Dancing with the Stars” are all starting very shortly. As of today, I have not decided if I’m going to cover those in a “Reality Roundup” column on Thursdays, or, if I will assign writers to do it. I’m leaning towards covering those myself. They are not full recaps, a la “Bachelor/ette”, but, I’m guessing I will have plenty to say about those shows. Whatever the case, those shows, along with “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” (which has a new column up today), will be the ones currently in the rotation on the site. We’re hoping to launch the first phase of the new look to the site by October 1st. Got a lot of good stuff coming up that I’m excited about that I’m sure will hold “Bachelor/ette” fans over until January 2nd. Keep it here for the next four months for all your spoilers on Ben’s season, and all your other “Bachelor” news.
