Bachelor Pad 3 Spoilers

Who Did Emily Choose

Gonna do something a little different today. I’m releasing today’s column in two parts. Frankly, I haven’t even written a word of my recap yet. I’m gonna do that on the plane. Last night was such a mess of gathering information all while trying to watch the show and take notes, this stuff I’m gonna give you now took precedence over the column. I’m gonna to post this right now, write the recap on the plane (which honestly won’t be nearly as long as usual just because I didn’t think much happened at all last night), and then just add the recap to the column later. I’ll tweet and FB post when the recap is added, but I figured before I headed to the airport, the least I could do was give you what you’ve been waiting for all season. What a great guy.

A few things to get to before talking about yesterday’s announcement. First off, gotta wish Olivia a happy 8th birthday today. Uncle Titi will be there in a few hours. Lets hope by the time I arrive she makes up her mind which movie she wants to see this week.

As much as I love the “Burning Love” franchise, after it was brought to my attention on Thursday’s live blog that a couple people had experienced some Crackle ad that popped up while visiting my site (I had never heard of it nor seen it), I did some research this weekend and found the root of the problem. My webmaster had informed me that none of our ads run any pop up ads, so it wasn’t coming from them. We realized that by embedding the “Burning Love” episodes into my site, it was then causing the Crackle pop up ads to appear. So unfortunately, I can link to the “Burning Love” videos, I just won’t be embedding them into the site anymore. It is a Yahoo! Web series, so it makes sense that they’d try to capitalize on viewers who were watching the episodes without logging on to their site.

In case you missed it, Doug’s exit interview with the media is now posted. He really didn’t say much, although it seems like he’s joined the long list of exited contestants that think Sean is the best fit for Emily.

The biggest news of the week came yesterday when ABC announced the finale date has been moved, and that the After the Final Rose will now be a live one hour show after right after the finale airs. So just to clear up any confusion, the actual 2-hour finale that was taped down in Curacao will go on as planned, just on a different day. The only “live” part will be the ATFR, which will air right after it. So next week, July 9th, is the episode of the overnight dates. The following week, July 16th, is the “Men Tell All” episode (which tapes this Sunday). Sunday night, July 22nd, the 2 hour finale will air followed by a live ATFR.

Since the announcement yesterday, a lot of speculation about why the live ATFR and what does it mean? Is Emily going to make her decision live on TV? Will there be a live wedding? Is there going to be a live breakup? Are they trying to keep spoilers from getting out? Why isn’t this done more often? Do all final three guys show up so she can give them her answer? I’ll get to all that in a minute, but here’s what I can tell you. After 6 weeks of getting sent more information that you can shake a stick at, I’m finally able to tell you with 100% confidence that:

In Curacao, Emily and Jef got engaged.

Now, you’re probably gonna ask me who finished second and who finished third. I don’t have that answer for you. What I do know now is that Emily and Jef left Curacao as an engaged couple and are still engaged today. Not sure who went home after the overnights (if anyone), not sure who (if anyone) met Ricki, not sure if the final rose ceremony has one, two, or three guys proposing. I just know that Jef definitely proposed in Curacao, she accepted, and they are engaged. Yes, it took me six weeks to get it confirmed, but by golly, I’m finally glad I did. So the live finale will NOT be Emily making her final decision, or pulling a Jen Scheft and choosing no one, or saying “no” to Jef. What happened in Curacao happened. They’re engaged. Of course no details are coming out about the ATFR, but if I had to speculate, here’s what I’d say:

-Most ATFR shows have the rejected ones on because while the fans may be happy Emily and Jef are engaged, they still want some closure from the guy(s) she didn’t choose. And since Sean and Arie were both kept around in Curacao until after the final rose ceremony filmed, makes me think one, if not both, will be at the ATFR to talk to Emily.

-I’m told Arie and Sean will both be in LA this weekend. Does that mean they’ll both be on the “Men Tell All?” I don’t know. Maybe they’re just going to hang with their boys at the after party. I just know they’re both going to be out there this weekend. Haven’t heard either way regarding Jef.

-Since the engagement happened in Curacao, and there won’t be any sort of live proposal at the ATFR, it makes me think they are doing this for one of two reasons:

1) a ratings ploy and they just didn’t want spoilers getting out because the audience in attendance would know what happened

2) Emily and Jef have an announcement to make. Whether it’s a wedding date, a pregnancy announcement, or maybe Emily’s moving to Utah. I don’t know.

I tend to lean towards #1. I think this is just all a ratings ploy to get more people to tune in, it’s something different to go live and have it on a Sunday night a la “Survivor,” and with “Bachelor Pad” premiering the next night, it’s another way for them to promote their other show. If Emily and Jef do have an announcement to make about something regarding their lives, then great, I guess that would be a bonus. But I think you can rule out a live wedding. I know that it was talked about last season with Brad and Emily, but do you really think Emily and Jef would have a live wedding, in one hour, with commercial breaks? No way. ABC would want to make a much bigger production of it, have edit control, etc. That’s just not gonna happen. I guess we will all find out on July 22nd exactly what will happen, but my guess it’ll be just like any other ATFR show with the exception of it being live. They’ll bring the rejected guy(s) out, they’ll ask “When did you know,” they’ll bring Jef out, Emily and Jef will talk about their relationship, and that’ll be that.

Back later on today with the recap of last night’s episode. Trust me, it’s not going to be nearly as long as a regular column. Too many normal people in the families last night. Dammit. Quit disappointing me.

Jovie that’s not really a fair comparison, but your point is made, taken, and yea we all have a right to our opinion, especially here. A fair comparison to what you just described on the male end would be something like I saw in Magic Mike. A guy in a thong with shaved legs, greased skin and dollar bills hanging out of his g-string. Or how about a druggie, pants down to his knees, dirty, smelly, and incoherent. To most of us, Jef is a young guy, he’s what, 26? He’s dressing like a twenty something and he should. Let him be immature until life gets serious, which it sounds like it’s going to be asap.

LOL Karen, yes – they are THAT good. I just love the story though, kind of an amazing transition… but I don’t want to get caned for talking GREY or REVENGE.

Just saw and spoke to Sean at the DFW airport..flying to LA! He was very very nice and talked to us for a few minutes.

Really people, Does anyone honestly think this romance will last? They are on total opposite ends of the spectrum. Jef seems so nice and sweet, whereas Queen Emily seems selfish, its all about her, ME, ME, ME, it won’t be long until she will be bossing little Jef around. She seems like she could be a real bitch. It’s all about the money honey.

I don’t see all the hype about her, I don’t find her attractive at all.

  5. nobody1

    July 5, 2012 at 8:14 PM

Sandy, you wanna know the real reason why they won’t last? Because its a freaking TV show….These people, aside from two couples, don’t really want to meet a mate through this show.

Seriously, the show is produced for entertainment and nothing more. Trista and Ryan and Jason and Molly actually ran into someone they liked. The rest? They do the show for different reasons, but I would bet my entire pay check that the intent is NOT to meet someone to marry. It never has been and never will be.

Hell, I would do the show too if ABC was waving a large check in my face. But I damn sure wouldn’t do it and expect to find a life long mate. And neither do 99% of the people who sign up.

@nobody1- wow, the way u worded your comment, if i didnt know any better, i would have thought steve himself wrote that comment.. i can actually picture him saying the exact same thing in that exact wording with the exact same phrasing.. strange!

@iheartvino- during a conversation at work today, one of the other stylists was talking about this restaurant she loves that serves really good steak.. i sort of tuned her out for a second bc i was writing down an apnt in my book and the she said, “i heart vino..” i looked at her and was like, “wait. what did u just say?” and she said “i heart vino, i love wine” LOL.. it totally caught me off guard and i immediately though of u.. it was soooo funny.. she even said, “why are u looking at me like that?” hahaha

@Kasey31 regarding ur comment on @nobody1, what an odd observation. Ur weird.

    July 5, 2012 at 9:59 PM

@50shades- well thank u for taking the time to post that nice comment? where did u come from anyway? youre living vicariously through a fictionalized book, so much so that u have decided to associate your identity with it… and im the weird one? what was ur screen name last year? twighlight? oh, no that wouldve been 2 or 3 yrs ago.. wait, i know.. it was hungergames..

and fyi, i wasnt being rude to nobody1.. i just thought it was strange how the wording is so similar to something steve would write in a response to an email or something.. i thought it was funny, i definitely wasnt trying to be mean or rude to him/her..

@liz123- i get it now. i get it. lol.. restraint is difficult.

@kasey, that is too funny, especially since the person gave you a funny look. 🙂

If everybody had the exact same opinion, this would make a boring world! Jovis thinks that Jef’s look makes him look immature, that is her opinion and I respect it! Emily chose who she did, and nothing we say will change it. Some of us love it; some of us hate it…why can’t we just respect each others opinions and move on 🙂

I was wondering if anyone caught that Chris flipped the bird out of the Sunroof as his limo drove away when Emily sent him home??? I would have missed the quick shot but my husband caught it. Seems he still can’t hold in his anger!!

  17. sandy

    July 6, 2012 at 3:10 AM

@nobody – You are absolutely right.

This is a TV show, a reality TV show, and most of the contestants are there for numerous different reasons, is one to to find a lifelong mate, probably not.

So many people (viewers) get emotionally invested in this show and actually fall for the fakeness of it all. Mike Fleiss has the viewers right where he wants them, wrapped around his little warped fingers. All the way to the Bank!!

  18. nobody1

    July 6, 2012 at 6:08 AM

@ Kacey: I’m not Steve, but I was in his neighborhood yesterday in Frisco. Had to get some paint chips repaired on my new Honda.

I have always been skeptical of the show, but the season that sold me on the thought the show is fake was Matt Grants. No man with half a brain would have picked Shayne Llamas. And the fakeness has continued on with Jake picking Vienna (really? Vienna?), and last season with Ben picking Courtney.

Every now and then the producers thrown in an underdog story (see Jesse Csincsak and Jef with 1 F), but lets be realistic for a second. Does anyone really believe Emily is the least bit attracted to Jef? Her history dating men in racing would lead you to believe she is more interested in dating higher profile types, not some creepy little skateboarder from Utah.

  19. nobody1

    July 6, 2012 at 6:23 AM

Here’s another instance of fakeness I just remembered from this season. Tony was the single dad who left the show with this sob story about how much he missed his son. Tony is on Bach Pad right now. Really dude? What happened to missing your son so much?

So, one of two things happened. The sob story was fake, manufactured drama, or Tony doesn’t really miss his son all that much if he is right back at it filming another show. I’m leaning towards manufactured drama. Truth is, he probably doesn’t even have a son.

  20. sandy

    July 6, 2012 at 6:48 AM

I remember one of the contestants from a previous season being interviewed at one point. And they asked him about a remark he made on the show. They asked him how he felt about it, and he said, I was told to say that…

Did anyone on here, know any one person (guy/girl) that was a complete stranger and not famous, someone that you had never met before, having 25 to 30 guys and girls soooo in love with that person, It just doesn’t happen in the real world. Remember, Bob Guiney for example. Yikes!!!! Even Brad, for goodness sakes, he was horrible!!! We all have different tastes, likes, and dislikes, its all drama fed for TV.

  21. Athena

    July 6, 2012 at 7:19 AM

We would probably all agree that 1) it’s completely unrealistic, and 2) highly edited. Right? So…what keeps us all tuning in? The happily-ever-after fairy tale story memories we grew up with in our early being-read-to? Our own personal fantasies of what it would be like to have a room full of eligible suitors vying for our attention? Our innate competitive urges personified by our favorite contestants? For me, all of the above, plus the glimpses of exotic places, clothes, hair and makeup, and occasional mildly interesting dialogue. What about the rest of you? What compels you to tune in?

  22. kasey31

    July 6, 2012 at 8:14 AM

this is sad to admit, but i kind of like to see the drama.. it’s so hilarious to me watching people fight over a guy or girl that they hardly know, some of whom have never even had a 1-on1 date with the lead.. i’ve never come across people like this in my everyday life, thank god, so for me it’s entertaining..

i think that’s why this season, up until recently, has been so boring for me to watch.. nothing really BIG happened.. last season it was courtney and as much as i disliked her, she really made the show.. then there’s justin rego, bentley, michelle money, rozlyn papa, vienna.. those personalities were just so entertaining to me.. granted, i don’t think they would make the best husband or wives! but they were funny to watch on t.v…

the exotic locations are fun, but i really tune in bc i can’t believe some of the stuff that happens on this show.. it seems so silly to fight over any guy, let alone one that u just met a few hrs ago (in some cases)..

in the end, i do hope they’re happy.. i really want ashley and jp to work out.. and i had hoped ali and roberto would, too.. but it’s everything in between that keeps me tuned in for the most part..

  23. karynr

    July 6, 2012 at 8:43 AM

I have to admit I like every minute of the cheesiness and drama. I used to get pulled in occasionally (Andrew and Jen, Mary and Byron), but I now laugh at myself quite heartily for tuning in week after week. It’s pure fluffy, fun entertainment and I love it. For two hours once a week I can watch other people’s drama, check out their clothes/make-up (less is more, Em), see other countries/cultures and have a helluva lot of fun. These days, I do also think about how skanky it to allow people to drink copious amounts of alcohol (love my own glass of wine occasionally) and interrogate them until you have the soundbytes you need. I now watch it with a healthy dose of cynicism, but am still hooked.

  24. liz123

    July 6, 2012 at 8:48 AM

@kasey31, hahahaha!!! As much as I hate that you’re feeling the need to restrain yourself, I’m glad you’re getting to walk a mile in my shoes. It’s tough to hold back at times, but it’s still entertaining to me & that’s why I’m still around. Good luck! 😉

@Athena, I watch for all the reasons everyone else has mentioned- the drama, the silliness of it all, the fun exotic destinations, seeing the idiotic things people will say & do. Plus, I do hold on to the possibility that there will be a love story come out of it. I do think that the people (not all of them, but the ones left in the end) really do have feelings for each other- even if for some it is just lust (Arie). Now, I absolutely get it that their odds of making it in the real world are slim to none, but watching it all unfold is interesting nonetheless.

    July 6, 2012 at 8:49 AM

Like Kasey, there’s also the romantic part of me that hopes it works out occasionally (JP & Ashley). I was rooting for Ali & Robert and JP and Ashley too, Kasey. But, I kind of had Ali’s number during Jakes season, and while I thought it might work out, I’m not surprised it didn’t. She got on my nerves bigtime during Jake’s season. But than, so did he!

  26. kasey31

    July 6, 2012 at 9:05 AM

@liz123- haha, thanks.. i wanted to say more to 50shades, but then i remembered what i had said to u 😉

@karynr- i agree with your statement about ali during jake’s season..i also didnt buy for one second that she “had to go back home for work..” that was a ploy already setting the stage for her to be the next bachelorette.. she probably was honest with the producers and told them that she didnt feel that strongly for jake and they thought she’d make a great lead.. it all seemed very staged to me..

ashley and jp have been my favorite couple in a long time..

  27. kasey31

    July 6, 2012 at 9:06 AM

with that said, i wasnt a big fan of ashley’s until she ended up with jp..

  30. iheartvino

    July 6, 2012 at 3:02 PM

I watch the show for pretty much the same reasons other have already mentioned- the drama, travel, fashion, and occasionally the good eye candy. (I had the biggest crush on Kiptyn during Jillian’s season, I liked JP last season, and this season I think Sean and Arie are fun to look at) This show is a good escape from my hectic life and for two hours I can get away from whatever I’m stressed about and just laugh and make fun of the people on the show.

I will say that it’s been a lot more fun to watch the Bach/Bachette ever since stumbling upon RS’s site during Jason’s season. I prefer to know who’s going home when as opposed to having no clue and trying to guess like in the past. I figure there are enough scripted (oh who am I kidding, we all know this one is too) shows out there where I like to be surprised and not know what happens.

  31. karynr

Quote: “I’m gonna to post this right now, write the recap on the plane (which honestly won’t be nearly as long as usual just because I didn’t think much happened at all last night), and then just add the recap to the column later.”

oh no! i saw a promo for the last couple episodes of em’s season, and shes wearing that god awful pony-tail extension again!!!! whyyyy?????

im sorry, i know that sounds so shallow, but it is so unflattering to her and shes just so beautiful without all of that extra fluff.. in some of her ITMs that were obviously taped when she was in curacao, she has very little make-up on, and her hair looks great.. she looks very natural and age appropriate..

i just dont understand why the person in charge of hair and make-up would encourage her to look so much older? they should be fired immediately.. it drives me nuts!

I sent Steve an email to ask what happened to the recap (the part two he said he’d post). He said it likely won’t happen as he couldn’t work on his computer during the flight. Apparently his efforts to reach/use his computer were thwarted by the “350 lb man in the middle seat on the plane.”

D’you think Mike Fleiss had a hand in the airplane seating? (<— JOKE!!!!! Hahahahahaha!)

He’s only posting Jef cuz the other site did, he’s got nothing else…the rush for the plane, etc – all a diversion, he’s got nothing cuz he had to rush to post because the Forum did….and Ali F said she believes it is Jef cuz he’s tweeted so much from CA and he must have been meeting w/Em. Steve, you’re such a phoney!

Key to a blogger success is consistency. I have checked the recap as announced to be delivered on Tuesday since Tuesday and of course with no results. Probably w/o RS column I would not watch this silly ABC’s cr@p, however w/o consistency and with RS attitude growing in a bizarre, almost mockingly hateful direction I think I will also now help this blogger get his revenue dollars buy coming to this site.

I wonder what Emily would look like with more naturally colored and shorter hair? Her facial features are pretty and delicate and I think she could really play up either her eyes or mouth that way. (Of course, I’ve worn my hair long and one length for my entire life so I’m a fine one to talk.)

  41. kasey31

    July 7, 2012 at 8:06 AM

@karynr- i want u to, also! or just rip out the extensions altogether!

@athena- i think she looks good as a blond bc she has brown eyes and it makes her eyes pop (not too many ppl with dark eyes have the right skin tone to go blond like that, same with dark hair and light eyes), just NOT that yellowish blond color, and i like her a lot with low-lights.. she looks great with short-medium, shoulder-length hair.. she had it at ATFR with brad and it looked amazing.. im sure she could pull off brown hair bc she has the skin tone to do it, but she would probably absolutely hate it..
ps.. nothing wrong with long hair at all.. hers just looks terrible bc it doesnt flatter her like her hair does when it’s shorter.. her shorter hair accentuates her facial features..

  42. kasey31

    July 7, 2012 at 8:30 AM

and dont be fooled.. emily really is beautiful, it’s just hard to see when she has all of that crap on her face.. damn, it took me forever to type this mesg bc crackle kept popping up whenever i scrolled down.. grrrr..

  43. liz123

    July 7, 2012 at 9:41 AM

@kasey31, I totally agree that the best she has looked all season is in those Curacao ITMs!! Tan, very little make-up, hair looks a little less fake blond. She should definitely keep that look!

    July 8, 2012 at 12:08 PM

@carmondy jef doesnt practice the mormon religion, so i dont think it will be an issue. It might be with his family but emily is strong faithed her self so i doubt it being a HUGE deal for them.
and i personally like Jef, hes funny, witty, successful, playful(good for ricki), and sweet.
@aatex you make me laugh..baha jovismom would definetly be on my first to ‘ignore’ buttons list too! 🙂

    July 9, 2012 at 12:22 PM

I’m glad it’s Jef. It’s obvious she lights up SO much more around him than the others. Although Jef is young, he’s wise, confident in who he is and knows what is important. He’s also very trendy so a good fit for Em. Out of all the guys, he’s also the one that has involved Ricki the most too, which we know is important to Em. I’m not sure if he’s older or younger than Emily but in my opinion, if you can find a younger man with the maturity of an older one, you win in so many ways! They fit/match/compliment each other very well. Congratulations Jef & Em & Ricki!

  47. ashleigh

    July 9, 2012 at 8:54 PM

@nobody1 re your comment about how Emily could never be attracted to a lowly skateboarder from Utah. You should look up Jef Holm. His net worth is $3 million. Cha-ching. He’s easily the most successful and affluent of all the guys she had to pick from.

  48. wisdomfolly

    July 13, 2012 at 10:54 PM

Reality Steve, you were duped again! There is NO POSSIBLE WAY it could be Jef. Jef is a Mormon and his family is prominent in the church. Is Emily going to convert? UNLIKELY. Is Jef going to renounce his faith? DOUBTFUL. There will be no marriage between the two. The only way that Emily chooses Jef is if she doesn’t want to get married at all, which I guess is a possibility. But come on, can people keep watching these shows when the outcomes are so disappointing? I can’t believe ABC would want that to happen again.

  49. lexasmygirl

    July 14, 2012 at 8:30 PM

I haven’t read RS the whole season except to find out who she picks. I’m dumbfounded she picked Jef. With all the chemistry she claims to have with Arie, I thought he’d be a shoe in. Also, Jef to me seems a bit young whereas Arie seems more mature.

However, I bet Arie can get a lot of ladies. He is, in my opinion, very handsome. Why he went on this show I don’t know. Maybe because Cassie Lambert talked him into it. I liked Arie from the beginning, but I never got the impression he was gung ho for someone else’s kid.

Oh well. I hope she’s happy with Jef. And Utah.

RS…if you have any info on Arie that you can spill, I’d appreciate it. Thanks.

Oh Karyn…I agree with you about Ali. She got on my nerves during Jake’s season (so did he) and I am not surprised it didn’t work out with Roberto. I hated when they made her the Bachelorette. But then again…it’s a silly show and I watch it for the entertainment value only.

Speaking of entertainment…Ben tweets about Courtney all the time. That’s one relationship I’ll never get. But whatever.
