A three part question
1) Do you know when an how often, do the staff of the bachelor/ette/pad franchise take breaks from shooting and working ? I read they work 16 hour days. And it seems not a lot of time to spend with their families. Seems like a very strenuous schedule.
2) What does Chris Harrison do the rest of the time, when he is not on camera ?
3) Does Chris Harrison have any opinions on your site ?
Comment: 1) The “Bachelor” films from September thru November. The “Bachelorette” films from March to May. “Bachelor Pad” takes 2 ½-3 weeks to film in June. So yes, there’s pre and post production involved with every show and scouting locations, but in terms of actual time spent shooting the shows? In 52 weeks out of the year, they’re only shooting for about 20 weeks. Ask most people who work in television production and they’ll tell you the hours are ridiculous. It’s certainly not just this show. That’s the entertainment business for you.
2) Sits in the control room, watches footages, talks to producers, etc. When they’re on location, judging by his tweets, he’ll golf, eat comped meals, and hang out with family. Well, when he was married he did. I’m guessing now he probably trolls for skirt on location.
3) I’m sure he does, but I doubt he’ll ever share those opinions publicly. But he’s well aware of what my site is about, as are all of them. Sh**, they watch it like a hawk now ever since the lawsuit. Those people are aware of every single word I write. Hey, at least they’re paying attention. When they’re not paying attention, that’s when I should worry. I matter to them, as much as they don’t want to admit it publicly, and I’m proud of that considering what this blog was 9 years ago.
Enjoy your blog and all things Bachelor even though most of the show is pretty ridiculous. I guess its an escape of reality for 2 hours on a Monday night that I enjoy. I have been watching the show since the 2nd season.
Anyways, not sure if you can answer this but wondering why Jaclyn was crying (the ugliest cry I have seen) when Blakely left and then following that up with a post on Twitter on how upset she was when she left? Did I miss something here? In the first episode all she did was talk about how much she hated her and that Blakely thinks they are friends but she can’t stand her. Yet she had an alliance with her which I am sure was just going along with the group and never said much about her after that and they seemed friends. I realize it could be a case of acting or playing up a role or whatever but wanted to be sure I didn’t miss something that they made amends somewhere cuz it didn’t really make sense.
Comment: I think I remember reading Jaclyn in a conference call saying that yes, she did acknowledge at the beginning of the season she didn’t like Blakeley, but over the course of filming, she got to know her on a level that she never knew before. So I guess that’s why she was sad to see her go.
What? You mention Sarah’s bruise on her leg during her makeout session with Chris, but not the massive herpes outbreak on her lip? Looks to me like she spent some time with Spinal Tap (a reference ¾ of your audience won’t get).
Also, probably not much chance, but any chance Rachel’s boobs get to be the next Bachelorette? With all of the drama that they suffered during BP, America really fell in love with her boobs, and I think they would make an excellent Bachelorette.
Comment: This made me laugh. And I will stand by what I said a couple weeks ago. I still think Rachel is the best looking girl they had this season.
Few questions for you:
-I couldn’t find the episode, but who from Jef’s family was on his hometown date? I was curious if his brother Mike (the one speaking to tabloids) was on the date or not. If he wasn’t there, maybe that substantiates Jef’s claim that he’s on the outskirts of the family. Or were there more people in his family, besides parents, who weren’t there?
– When you say that a couple will never get married, is that just based on your opinion from the show or from “inside information” that you get? I’m just curious since it seems like you’re generally correct but people who just watch the show are wrong. Also, any scoop on JP and Ashley’s wedding? It seems at this point it’s turning a little Ali and Roberto, in that they keep pushing it off which makes me wonder if things are on the rocks.
-In a previous column you mentioned that a Bachelor alum and Bachelor fan from BP3 are still seeing each other after the show, is that Reid and Paige? Or is there another pairing that we didn’t get to see.
Comment: 1) Mike was not on the hometown date.
2) Yeah, I’d say I am generally correct. And yes, it’s because I know things that other people don’t know. But can I talk about all of it? Of course not. I’ll just continue to say that Jef and Emily will never get married and leave it at that. I don’t care if people disagree with me or not.
Last I heard, JP and Ashley’s wedding was possibly going to happen before the end of this year, but don’t know how solid that information was.
3) No, Reid is not seeing Paige.
I thought the spelling bee episode was by far the worst and last night proved I was wrong. Karaoke to “Sister Christian” is the single most painful thing I have watched in Bachelor Pad history. Night Ranger is pathetic and hearing the song again and again was a horror. I don’t blame any of the contestants for butchering the song. It’s a lame song. Night Ranger isn’t even a cool 80s band that people care to hear covers of – they were a one hit wonder at best. I hope they enjoy the royalty check. My ears continue to bleed.
The only thing keeping me hanging on til the finale is your spoilers. They give me hope that we will finally see something fresh – Nick taking it all. I am actually very impressed with him. He has stayed off the radar this entire time and then talked Rachel down from the ledge more than once. He basically got her to vote against her best friend and alliance, and rightly so. This is a game. He rocks! It is the only thing I am looking forward to because I will be holding back vomit watching Tony propose to Blakely. Someone call Child Protective Services! On second thought, they won’t even make it to the altar but I guarantee you one or both of them will be back for BP4.
Comment: I think I’m going to enjoy Monday’s finale. Not necessarily because I’m gonna laugh at Rachel or anything for what happens, but just that we are gonna see something that we haven’t seen yet. And seeing Rachel pretty upset about it will be different than what we got the first two seasons.
Um. I don’t get it. Why do not many people seem mad at Nick for what he did with the money? Look, I obviously get it’s a “reality show” and it’s stupid. But this is REAL money. And I completely agree, whether you like her or not, that Rachel deserved the money just as much, if not more, than Nick. The end. There is no way he would have actually won if he wasn’t partnered with Rachel.
To be honest, I think it’s really gross what he did. Rachel went along with him and kept Chris and Sarah so they would win. And then he, knowing that Rachel is a nice person and would choose “share”, decided to exploit her niceness (word?) and keep all of the money.
Anyways, do you think he really did keep the money? Or is this a producer stunt for ratings and he and Rachel are actually sharing the money on the down-low (yes, down-low)?
Comment: As far as I know he did. Sure there could be backhanded deals going on that the public doesn’t know about, but I haven’t heard anything of the such.
Now last season? The worst kept secret amongst this show was that Holly & Michael and Michelle & Graham agreed even before the finale that they’d split the money, so in essence, it didn’t matter who won. It was split four ways.
Love your site! I look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Now onto the pie. I decided this year I would make a peach pie for my county fair. It took hours and I didn’t even get a participation ribbon! Not easy. On a good note, I discovered that pie crust is way better when made with vodka.
Comment: Peach and apple pie are my favorites. And if you can make French applie pie, even better. Send me some.
For one, I gotta say I am loving how Nick was pretty much invisible most of the season, and he is rockin’ it to the end. Good job!
About Nick: on Ashley Spivey’s recap, she has a picture of Nick flexing his muscles, and his arm tattoo is blurred out. Why? It wasn’t blurred out on the show.
(Do you know what his tattoo says? I couldn’t read it on my small TV.)
Oh yes, and I have one more question for you: Why can RumorFix use information from previous Bachelor Nation contestants, and you can’t? What’s the diff?
Is it simply because Fleissy Baby hates you?
Comment: I already deleted Monday’s episode, but it looked like a whole paragraph on his arm. I don’t know what it says.
That’s a good question that I don’t know the answer to. Well, I do know the answer, but it’s long and drawn out and something I don’t want to get into.
Sorry if this has been covered in the past but I’m wondering if The Bachelor/ette is usually a surprise to the contestants? Everyone seemed to know it was going to be Emily, but in other seasons, such as Ashley’s, the men seemed to have no idea who would be standing there when they exited the limos.
Comment: Emily was the exception. They publicly announced her as the “Bachelorette” in January and her season didn’t start filming til March. Everyone else they usually don’t announce publicly until much closer to air time.
But to say that the people getting out of the limo’s have NO idea who the lead will be all depends on how much you think these contestants don’t read blogs or the internet. I think they all have an idea of who it is, if not knowing exactly who it is once they arrive in LA and get sequestered before filming begins.
I noticed that your last name is Carbone. Are you in any way related to Gina Carbone who writes for WetPaint?
Just wondering. I’ve noticed that you and WetPaint seem to have a pretty cordial relationship, and I thought the similarity was interesting.
Have a great day!
Comment: No. We’re not related.
