Reality Steve

Bachelor Sean Spoilers

“Bachelor News” and “Dr. Reality Steve”

Not a whole hell of a lot today, just some news and notes to get to regarding the show and I decided to also throw in a couple “Dr. Reality Steve” emails since I’m a tad backed up. Thursday’s column will be a “Reality Roundup,” “Reader Emails,” and “Dr. Reality Steve” column, so get your emails in to Heading into the holiday season, with the show about to wrap filming and the premiere not until Jan. 7th, that’s about 7 weeks of nothing going on, so the column will probably be few and far between. But once the season ramps up, it’ll be back to normal. Obviously sometime between now and Jan. 7th, I will have your episode-by-episode spoilers. I know a lot of you get “spoiled” and want me to have the information 2 seconds after it happens, but it just doesn’t work that way. Go look at past “Bachelor” seasons and you’ll know that filming always ends right before Thanksgiving, and then I don’t give out the episode-by-episode spoilers til usually the first or second week of December. The last couple of seasons I’ve had the ending before I had everything, I expect much of the same this time around. I’m pretty sure I’ll have your Final 4 breakdown before I have all your episode-by-episode spoilers. Be patient. You’ll get em. Just like you do every season. Before Jan. 7th, you’ll know everything you need to know about this season, no worries.

Wanted to go off topic here for just a second and give a little public service announcement real quick. The internet is a fascinating world. With FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc there are a lot of brave people who feel they can get away with saying whatever they want about whoever they want with zero repercussions. That’s just the way it is now. I get it. But having done this site for the last 9 years, and with popularity in the site increasing exponentially in the past three, obviously that makes me a target for some people. Absolutely, 100% understand that. That’s what I signed up for. Call me names, say my site sucks, say I have horrible grammar, whatever you want. I’m fine with it. Cuz that’s all just opinion. Just know there are a lot of crazies out there who will take it further and say anything about anyone just to get a rise out of people, even if it’s not based in fact at all and it’s not an opinion. So I just wanna say this: Unless you see me address it myself, I wouldn’t believe anything you see written about me publicly. If something’s out there, probably a chance I won’t even see it. So if you want to ask me about it, go ahead. Just consider the source. I know, I know. Amazing that in today’s day and age, people still believe everything they read on the internet without doing any fact checking, but trust me, it happens. Crazy people out there, I tell ya. Lunatics. Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

I noticed that WetPaint ran a story last week that I forgot to address about Sean possibly getting engaged on his birthday, Nov. 16th, which is this Friday. They were close. Missed it by one day. The final rose ceremony taking place in Thailand will actually be this Saturday, the 17th.

I also saw yesterday where they ran a story about a Twitter account that had a picture of finalist AshLee Frazier, in a Thailand hotel with a show producer. That hotel is the Rua Rasada in Trang, Thailand. Was news to me until I saw the story, so that means that AshLee obviously made it past hometowns and at least to the final 3. What I can say is that the picture is from either where she’s staying or where her overnight date took place, since the final rose ceremony is definitely not taking place at that hotel or in that city. Once the final 3 head out to the final location, each obviously gets an overnight date but they are always in three different places within the city that they’re in. So AshLee’s looks like hers was there, or she was just staying there, since they usually separate all three in different hotels as well. But the final rose ceremony is not taking place in Trang or at the Rua Rasada Hotel.

Can we PLEASE put an end to the “Cheryl Burke is gonna be the next ‘Bachelorette'” talk? Enough already. Cheryl obviously wants to do it since she won’t shut up about it and tells anyone who’ll stick a microphone in her face that she’s met with producers and she’d be interested. Let me fill you in on something Cheryl that maybe you’re unaware of. Do you know how many people they “interview” to be the possible lead for the show every season? More than you think. And of those people, do you know how many actually really have a chance? Three. The three people who finish 2nd, 3rd, and 4th of the season that just ended. Since they started recycling contestants as leads (Sean will be the 9th consecutive season they’ve recycled), every lead finished in the top 4 of their season, with the exception of Jake. They’re talking and interviewing people all the time for this gig, but it’s just them doing their due diligence. They’ve said it 100 times that they don’t plan on ever going out of the family again to cast the lead, and with 9 consecutive seasons of them sticking to it, I don’t see that changing anytime soon. This is no different than the stupid Ryan Lochte rumors that started over the summer. Just because they talk to you doesn’t mean you’re actually a serious candidate. I don’t know who is gonna be the next “Bachelorette” because we’re still 4 months away from them starting filming, but without knowing, I can pretty much guarantee you it will be either AshLee, Catherine, Lindsay, or Desiree. I’ll go with the odds and the track record of this show. And oh yeah, one last thing Cheryl: With all that said working against you, there’s the other major factor that no one wants to see you as the “Bachelorette” anyway. So there’s that too.

I hope Steve’s right about Cheryl Burke. I don’t want her to be the Bachelorette. Besides, wouldn’t that get in the way of her sleeping with whomever her DWTS partner happens to be at the time?

  2. JovisMom

    November 13, 2012 at 11:57 AM

To the emailer about the friend and the Doctor…. Ever seen the movie Valentine’s Day? The guy Jennifer Gardner was hooking up with, same thing. He was a Doctor and married. I know if I was the wife I would want to know (I was w\ someone for 5yrs and was cheated on -it stings) Maybe she should think about maybe getting the cousin involved in telling her somehow/way. I don’t know, it’s a touching situation.

  3. JovisMom

    November 13, 2012 at 12:05 PM

@ Iheat – I agree – NO Cheryl. Maybe she is paid by ABC to talk about Bachelor/ette during their off season to keep the buzz going? I mean the shows are on the same network.

  4. strick432

    November 13, 2012 at 12:48 PM

I agree about Cheryl Burke never being the Bachelorette….not sure why people don’t like her, though. And I would almost bet she isn’t sleeping with Emmitt Smith. Anywhoo, for what it’s worth, Melissa Rycroft isn’t my fave, but she is absolutely the best dancer on DWTS and should win. I don’t think they should have let previous winners on the show anyways. Should have been all runners-up or top 5, maybe. I watch it every week – just my 2 cents. I had wanted Gilles to win, but after watching Melissa the last 2 weeks, come on now….she’s obviously the best.

  5. jillbeau

    November 13, 2012 at 12:48 PM

Steve, we agree again. I would not want to see Cheryl Burke as the next Bachelorette. There’s just something about her on DWTS that irritates me. I’m not sure why she annoys me so much…she just seems so smug at times when I think that most of the other female pros are much better dancers than her. She just always seems to get good partners which is why she sticks around so long most seasons.

  6. randais

    November 13, 2012 at 1:28 PM

@Jil – Am I the only one wondering how Kelly won the first time? I’m not saying she’s bad but she doesn’t seem to be as good as “most” of the rest that are left. Melissa is really tearing it up but so is Apollo, don’t you think? I also, think Shawn is an amazing dancer.

  7. strick432

    November 13, 2012 at 1:54 PM

@randais – if I may respond – the first season of DWTS was very short – only a few weeks – and had less than half of the “celebrities” that are on now. There was controversy that first season – actually John O’Hurley (I think that’s his name – Family Feud/Seinfeld) was a much better dancer and should have won – but somehow it got out that the voting process wasn’t explained correctly or some BS like that. Anyway a couple of seasons later, they had a dance-off kind of thing between Kelly and John – which John won, of course. But Kelly is still considered the first “winner”. She is actually much, much better this year than she was that first year. BTW – the first season also included Trista Sutter – not 100% sure if she and Ryan were married at the time – she wasn’t that bad, but got voted off first.

  8. jillbeau

    November 13, 2012 at 2:18 PM

@randais – I actually watched the first season…Kelly was really bad at the beginning but got better towards the end of the season. I remember that she and John O’Hurley (the runner up) had some sort of dance off a few weeks after the season ended because people were unhappy with the outcome. I like most of the dancers this season. I think that the finale will be between Shawn and Gilles, although Apolo and Melissa have both been great this season as well. I know that Steve doesn’t think that highly of Melissa (or so it seems when he talks about her), but she seems nice enough to me. She doesn’t annoy me and I can usually find a reason to be annoyed! πŸ™‚ I very much agree with what Steve said in his Reality Roundup a few weeks back about Emmitt this season…I also get a strange, cocky vibe from him this season thought I really did enjoy watching him back in season 3.

  9. karynr

    November 13, 2012 at 2:35 PM

I thought Melissa was fantastic last night!

Shawn has matured and it really shows in her dancing. I think she’ll end up in the final two or three, and just night win it all. She’s showing more emotion and seems to be feeling the music more, or better. I don’t know if I’m explaining myself well, but I’m enjoying watching her a lot more this season.

What is it with Emmett’s attitude? He’s coming off as a lot more cocky and I don’t like it.

    I adore Apolo. He’s such a cutie.

I didn’t start watching until the second season. I don’t think Kelly is great, but she’s not bad either. I did watch the dance-off after season one and thought that was really silly.

Does anyone watch So You Think You Can Dance? I missed the last season, but watching those kids and the amazing choreoghaphy can bring me to tears, at times.

  10. randais

    November 13, 2012 at 3:21 PM

Thanks all, I definitely don’t remember all of that from the first season. I did like her last night a little bit better than previously but I just think most of the others (ok not all of them) are better than her. Plus she seems to always have kind of a bad attitude. Is it just me?

@karyn – I love SYTYCD. It’s a great show too. Some of the dances are serious tear jerkers.

oh and I do also like Gilles, but I’m not much of a fan of his partner, Peta.

    November 13, 2012 at 4:48 PM

@readlater obviously he’s asking you to LET IT GO and no one else really cares about this petty drama. I’ve been reading about this for months. Admittedly, at first I was interested… then you started to look like an absolute lunatic. You don’t seem to have an ounce of respect for Steve or anyone else. Please, get some help. You need to speak to your doctor about these behaviors. Be honest with your therapist about these obsessive thoughts, they are truly disturbing and I am scared for the safety of those involved given your mental state.

    November 13, 2012 at 5:56 PM

The first season of DWTS was the only one I watched and I thought John should have won over Kelly. Anyway, after the first season I was like, “OK, that was sort of fun, moving on.” I can’t believe it’s gone on this long. I’ve been a diligent Bach/ette watcher, though. πŸ˜‰ AshLee (do we have to spell it that way with the two capital letters? Lame like “Lindzi” instead of “Lindsay”) looks different in this pic than the only other one we’ve seen of her . . . Goes to show how it’s kind of tricky to judge on a single photograph! I wonder who joins her in the final three.

I think the DWTS finale should definitely include Shawn and Melissa, although I thought Gilles or Sabrina should’ve been there, too.

As far as the first Dr. Reality Steve e-mail- I think the girl writing SHOULD somehow let the doctor’s wife know about the bad doctor’s infidelity. If I were in her shoes and didn’t say anything, I would always regret it and wonder if and when the wife found out. It’s better for the wife to find out now rather than after starting a family where children are involved and affected. If the wife chooses not to believe the truth, then so be it. At least the girl told her the truth and can move on without looking back.

    *The Voice*
@randais and @kasey, I have only seen a few episodes of The Voice this season but from what I have seen there are a ton of great singers this time! And okay, I will admit that part of why I watch is to get a nice look at both Blake and Adam. (Sigh) πŸ™‚

    The voice…

I agree with iheart about Adam! Hawt!! Blake is handome but too county for me.

    DWTS spoiler*

I only catch bits and pieces of that show. We normally don’t watch it. The only season I’ve only really watched when Helio was on because of him. I did s wee last night that Giles was eliminated.

    DWTS spoiler cont*

Ok…sorry my phone is doing weird things and posted my comment before done. So I saw that Giles was eliminated a.d I started to think that maybe people are voting more for the dancers than the “stars”. Seems like the more popular dancers (like Derick and Cheryl) are still on there. Just a thought.

  21. randais

    November 14, 2012 at 4:35 AM

    @kasey, iheart & helio – YES I’m watching!

I’m so glad Terry stayed and anyone else shocked that America is voting for the hippy? I’m a fan but I was NOT expecting him to receive so much support from America. I also like Dez (but let’s face it, he’s eye candy) and frankly, they are all truly talented don’t you think?

@helio – Gilles was eliminated? Wow. I actually haven’t watched it yet so I’ll have to get right on that I guess. I was not expecting that. I was thinking Kirsty (the obvious choice) or Emmit or even Kelly. It was a double elimination so I’ll be back after checking out the other eliminatee (ok I made that up).

  22. karynr

    November 14, 2012 at 5:42 AM

Since I didn’t watch Kelly the first season, and don’t know much about her, has she always been so bland and unhappy looking? I suspect a lot of it might be nerves and last night she was an absolute wreck. Does she ever smile??!!

Karina gets on my nerves a lot more than Cheryl. She just loves her celebrity status!!!! I wonder how many partners she’s slept with. I’ll bet there are some juicy backstage stories from that show!

Maks and Peta are a couple now. I don’t know if they’re engaged or just dating. She seems more likeable to me than Cheryl and Karina. And I love Maks! I know a lot of people have a problem with his attitude, and maybe rightfully so, but I like his rebellious nature and he is sooo sexy!

    The Voice
I’d take Adam over Blake, any day! He’s a cutie. Blake is good looking too, but he doesn’t do a thing for me.

  23. bigfatwoman

    November 14, 2012 at 5:57 AM

agree with everyone about “thank God” Cheryl Burke is not going to be Bachelorette. She seems very full of herself and…..(I might get lampooned for this, but who cares)…

all of the female pros on that show have amazing bodies. Cheryl’s not so much. I get that she’s probably got some genetics that predispose her to her shape….but I think she drinks too much and eats too much. I know there are a couple of other “bigger” girls on the show….but they don’t have the uppity attitude that Cheryl does. Plus, Cheryl would be considered one of the “main” dancers.

NOTHING wrong with that….but having been given an amazing opportunity to be a professional dancer on this show….I think she has an obligation to take better care of herself.

Let the backlash begin!! I don’t care. She should look better and it’s part of the reason I don’t like her.

  24. randais

    November 14, 2012 at 6:17 AM

Watched it….makes a little more sense now, just a “little”. I would have hoped for Kelly to go instead of Gilles. But I didn’t vote so can’t complain.

@karyn – I feel the same way. Kelly has zero personality. She seems depressed all the time, have to wonder if she is on meds and if not, why not?
I don’t care for Karina or Cheryl. They (and they aren’t the only ones) seem to have such an (I’m superior to everyone) attitude. I have, also, heard the rumors but I won’t go there since I have no actual knowledge of any of it. But it doesn’t help her reputation at all.
I didn’t know about Max and Peta, interesting.

@big – no lampooning. I actually don’t care about their bodies that much, except for the fact that I prefer class to trash in their costumes. I’m sure they’re in great shape but I watch this show for the dance and I enjoy the bonus of “some” great costuming. I just have no interest in their need to wear as little as possible, in many cases. I love the creativity of the dances and costumes when done with class and taste. But I do see the attitude you are referring to, on occasion.

    November 14, 2012 at 6:20 AM

I have always admired Cheryl for her ability to overcome the abuse she suffered as a child. She is an amazing dancer but she is waaay to well known as a celebrity and
the Bachelor/Ette franchise only goes after unknowns who then have their moments of fame and quietly return to the workwork from whence they came.

I bet there would be folks watching if Cheryl was Bachelorette but I never see that happening. She is a very busy lady with her dance studio and various others enterprises.

  26. Athena

    November 14, 2012 at 8:55 AM

I think you’re right about the pros getting just as many people rooting for them as the stars. After all, many/most of them have been on for years and are more well known than a lot of the stars.

About Cheryl, or anyone, from DWTS being on The Bach or ette, I don’t have a problem with it and I could see ABC mixing things up by doing it. It wouldn’t necessarily be my preference for who I’d choose (ya’ll know my girl is Courtney πŸ™‚ ), but it’d be ok.

  27. absolem

    November 14, 2012 at 9:32 AM

Love DWTS! For a long time, I didn’t care much for Cheryl, but after reading about her life, I have a lot more respect for her. I also know that sometimes with shyness & low self-esteem, people can misinterpret that as having a “better than you” attitude. Maybe she is just guarded & quiet because she is shy & somewhat wounded therefore protecting herself as opposed to her attitude being because she’s “uppity”.

As far as her body, when mine is perfect then I will feel I can criticize others. Until then, I will not cast the first stone– even though, yes, she agreed to put her body on public display & I did not. The majority of us should take better care of ourselves regardless of whether we’re on TV or not.

Hey BFW, maybe Cheryl should become bulimic or anorexic like some of the other dancers- then maybe she’d look the way you think she should. Pffft. Have a heart & think about the young girls who are not naturally skinny & think about how they feel when people insinuate that Cheryl Burke is too fat, why don’t you??? Or just continue to think about yourself. That seems to be working out really well for our society thus far.

  28. iheartvino

    November 14, 2012 at 9:41 AM

I agree with bigfatwoman and randais about Cheryl’s attitude. What she endured as a child is horrible and I would never make light of that, but I do get tired of hearing people defend her attitude and slutty behavior and linking it to her rough childhood. Not trying to sound harsh but at some point people need to own up to their behavior.

I think she’s got a gorgeous body and it’s surprising to hear her called one of the “bigger” girls. Any time I’ve seen her on DWTS she’s looked pretty trim.

Holy! It amazes me how some posters are so, SO incredibly critial of someone they don’t even know, namely Cheryl Burke. @BFW – I suppose YOU have a perfect body? And do tell what you call “perfect”? Sad, sad, sad.

  33. kasey31

    November 14, 2012 at 10:21 AM

its always sad when i see people, especially women, criticizing other women on their weight.. although i dont care for her her attitude on the show, it would by hypocritical of me to take jabs at cheryl based on her dress size.. this is coming from someone who is a size 0 and happy to see that ive gained 5lbs when i can.. ive been called too skinny all my life, and while in todays warped society that might be considered “ideal,” i can tell u that it hurts on either end to be judged on your weight..

while cheryl might be “bigger” than i am, i can guarantee u she would kick my butt in any physical competition.. and i work out regularly to build muscle! but thinner doesnt equal healthier by any means, especially for a professional dancer.. everyone is beautiful, all shapes, color, and sizes..

and while i also understand that obesity is a problem in the u.s., that is NOT the case with cheryl.. just perpetuating another unrealistic stereotype for women, and it makes me sad..

  34. bigfatwoman

    November 14, 2012 at 10:24 AM

“Have a heart & think about the young girls who are not naturally skinny & think about how they feel when people insinuate that Cheryl Burke is too fat, why don’t you??? Or just continue to think about yourself.”

….the last sentence is the best. Thank you for making me smile.

  35. bigfatwoman

    November 14, 2012 at 10:30 AM

I do not have a perfect body but I eat well and exercise regularly……..but if I was on tv and being paid handsomely for it….you better damn believe that I’d be cleaning up my act as much as I possibly could.

Doesn’t me I promote anorexia or bulimia….but clean living and relatively clean eating would be the least I would do given such a gift.

  36. absolem

    November 14, 2012 at 10:48 AM

Hey BFW, how do you know what Cheryl freaking eats???? I’m going to go ahead & take a guess & say that you do not know. I would also venture to guess that she works out more than any of us (including you).

It’s also very easy to say “well, if someone paid me to do this or that, I’d do it”. Oooohkay. Suuure you would. Talk is cheap. Why don’t you just go ahead & pretend that you’re being paid & live & eat the way you think she should? After all, it’s the healthy thing to do anyway & Cheryl is apparently an unhealthy fatty.

Look, I don’t care about Cheryl Burke any more than the stranger walking down the street. She does have a bad attitude sometimes, but damn the unnecessary critique of the bodies of women who are obviously pretty damn healthy is sad for our society. I feel for young women. I’m glad I made you laugh because laughter makes life worth living, but the fact that you’d laugh at the state of today’s young girls & their minds & their self-worth & the fact that you could give a shit less whether you’re contributing to the good or bad side of that, says a lot about the kind of human being you are.

Maybe Cheryl is perceived as being loose because she’s sleeping with these men to boost her self-esteem– self-esteem that people like you are helping to destroy. Maybe your attitude toward women’s weight & the looseness of women in our society go hand-in-hand. But then again some people can’t think abstractly or unselfishly enough to realize their own judgmental behavior might be contributing to the very thing they criticize.

  37. Dianne

    November 14, 2012 at 10:51 AM

@BFW – and what makes you KNOW Cheryl doesn’t eat well (she obviously exercises probably more than you or I do)?

    November 14, 2012 at 11:20 AM

Oh, I’m sorry because smiling & laughing are so very different. Seriously. That’s the only intelligent thing you have to contribute to the discussion? Hmmm. Interesting.

  41. Meghan

    November 14, 2012 at 12:14 PM

Tonight should be interesting. Lisa has burned bridges on both sides now, and from the looks of the previews, she’s going to be called out for it when they get back to camp. Before last week, I would have said that the others would be wise to avoid going to final 2 or 3 with her, since she seemed to come off as the sweet, nice, make-no-enemies type; but now, and especially if she keeps up last week’s antics, I’m wondering if that will change. I hope we get an explanation for why Penner voted for Abi–wasn’t he the one at tribal saying, ‘hey guys, let’s do what we talked about doing??’

I don’t watch DWTS, and I know nothing about this girl, but I’m guessing that if she’s paid to be a professional dancer on a national TV show, she must be doing something right. ‘Fit’ and ‘thin’ are not the same thing, nor does thin=healthy. I am thin, but far from healthy–my diet is terrible and packed with sugar, salt, and various chemicals that I’m sure are bad for me. What constitutes overweight on TV anyway–a size 4? When one of these dancers is 400 pounds and has to be wheeled onto the stage in a wheelchair because they can no longer support their own weight, then we can talk about how they aren’t ‘taking care of themselves.’ But even then, it’s still none of my business.

  42. strick432

    November 14, 2012 at 1:49 PM

Good Lawd here we go on another soapbox again…yall are pretty funny. I would KILL to look like Cheryl Burke.

    Lisa makes final 3.

  43. randais

    November 15, 2012 at 5:43 AM

Lisa seems to have done ok. You really have to give it to Penner, he is a great player. I think he has an uncanny ability to pin down everyone’s personalities fairly accurately.

Shocker – Abi sits this one out….again. She is such an arrogant idiot (in my opinion). She has no idea what she’s talking about, how’d she even get this far? Her attitude is off the chart.

Anyone else think it’s ironic how the “villagers” were wearing more clothes than the contestants? πŸ˜€ But what a great reward.

Who couldn’t love Malcolm? He’s a really strong player but such a sweetheart.

Interesting immunity challenge. Pete gave Skupin a run for his money, at first. I wasn’t sure if Skupin’d pull it out. Interesting how the alum are winning all the immunity challenges. Here’s what I don’t get, why the heck didn’t Malcolm give his idol to Penner thus insuring whoever Tangdyng votes for will go home? I suppose that idol’s pretty valuable and he just doesn’t want to lose that power, but I would have at least considered that option.

Jeff sure looked ticked at tribal. Denise was right about one thing, selfish Abi would NEVER give anyone her idol. Excellent job, Kalabowl (spelling?). Just made it by the skin of their teeth, can’t wait to see what next week brings.

@strick, you and me both! I think BFW is truly jealous, of just about anyone or anything that’s better than she is, or that she feels is better, which is a sad way to be. She thrives on criticizing. But, that’s her, and I’m not contributing to the issue any further.

@Dianne – I wasn’t really calling anybody out specifically…’s just humorous to see all these “grown” women yapping on a reality show blog like high schoolers. I am a 45-year old grown woman who just happens to be obsessed with all things reality tv. I get a kick out of reading all the drama. I have enough drama in my life without getting into it with complete strangers on a blog about Bach/ette/BP and other reality shows. It is funny though. I respect all opinions and surely don’t want to stir the proverbial pot any further!!!
