“Bachelor in Paradise” Episode 3 Recap Including the E! Special From 4 Years Ago That I Was Removed From

As I mentioned once this season started, there were 7 episodes that were filmed, but only 6 Mondays from Aug. 4th to Sept. 8th, so at some point they needed to double up. I thought they’d double up on the finale but I guess not. Next week we are getting episodes 4 and 5 back-to-back on Monday and Tuesday, so that’s answers that. Still no word yet if they are going to do a reunion show to update people on the couples. In case they don’t, I can tell you it’s still the same. Only two couples survived the show, Marcus & Lacy are engaged, and Cody & Michelle are still together. Everyone else that broke up at the end is still broken up. No one has gotten back together. As for next week, they couldn’t have possibly picked a worse week to show back-to-back episodes, at least as far as this site is concerned. I’m in CA this weekend, but my fantasy football draft is next Monday night. So I will not be live tweeting the show. I will have to watch it later that night and post the recap Tuesday morning, then get on a plane back home. I don’t land in Texas til I think 7:30 Tuesday night, so I won’t be live tweeting that episode either. Oh well. You’ll have to somehow get through those nights without my witty brilliance. I apologize in advance.

A lot of you have tweeted and emailed me since last night’s promo for the next two weeks aired asking what some of those things are about. The shot of AshLee at the rose ceremony saying Graham’s name and them him walking off is, shockingly, just editing. Before AshLee even says Graham’s name at the rose ceremony, Graham walks off set because he feels sick. He eventually comes back, she asks if he’ll accept her rose, and he does. Of course they make it seem like he’s having second thoughts. Wasn’t the case. He got sick. As for the producers running through the jungle looking for somebody, I don’t know who or what that is, but I honestly don’t think it’s a big deal. I think it’s editing again. If it was a major event that happened, I probably would’ve heard about it. I think it’s just a tease to get people interested. The ambulance is for Lacy because she gets sick from either dehydration or food poisoning, which I mentioned after the first promo of the season aired.

Another rumor that made the rounds last week was that AshLee and Graham

dated before the show. Not true. Neither of them had ever met before stepping foot in Mexico. Remember, Graham did say in an interview, that before the show he was most interested in meeting AshLee. Says a friend of his had dated her and he had nothing but great things to say about her. I’m assuming he was talking about Brad Womack. But yeah, no truth to the rumor they knew each other or had met before the show started.

So last week I re-posted the link from when I spoke about the E! show called “The Bachelor: Then and Now” that I was unceremoniously dumped from after one airing because, well, ABC told them to take me off. It aired in the summer of 2010 right before the first “Bachelor Pad” aired. Well I mentioned a reader emailed me and still had a recording of it on her DVR> Here it is, minus all the commercials. Amazing how they got so bothered by my appearance they not only had E! immediately cancel any repeats, but replaced all of my scenes with someone else paraphrasing everything I said. I haven’t re-watched this whole thing, but I will at some point. It’s not the best of quality because they basically had to record their television set, but you can still hear everything. Enjoy:

Ratings from last night are in, and they are down a tad from the first two episodes. Early returns are usually off by 100-200k viewers, so expect this number to be right around 5 million viewers when the official numbers are in. The show is holding pretty steady so far and basically all three episodes have each drawn more total viewers than any of the 8 episodes “Bachelor Pad 3” did.

There will be a “Reader Emails” and “Dr. Reality Steve” this Thursday, along with the live video chat Thursday night from CA at 9:00pm EST/6:00pm PST. Which means that I’m sure we’ll get an appearance from Olivia and Nicholas, 4 days before they begin 5th and 2nd grade respectively. Fun times all around. The video issues we had last Thursday night which forced me to cancel the show seem to have been fixed. See you Thursday night.

Great recap, Steve. Hate to admit I love this train wreck. Thank you for making me laugh, I really needed it today. I kind of like this show better than Bach Pad. I cringed at some of those competitive activities. This show is just drama and smut, HA HA.

I really like the format of this show, despite my initial desire to hate it. ashlee stuffed grahams balls in her purse. I come to steve for a laugh I usually do laugh. between steves recaps with his humor and more behind the scenes info and the recaps on ihategreenbeans, im really enjoying this show. I actually watch too, unlike the bachelor and bachelorette which I just read the recaps and spoilers of. also, can anyone answer this question? I sincerely asked steve, but didn’t get a reply, at least not yet. being new to the bachelor this year and having read often about steves most loathed question, “why does the drive way look wet?” I do sincerely want to know why it looks wet, referring to the bachelor and bachelorette mansion driveway. can anyway answer?

@Mush, It is wet. They hose it down every season before the limos pull up because they think it looks better on camera wet than dry.

It also hides the more obvious oil spots. I looked for that at the mansion in past few cycles, though I couldn’t tell. I’m surprised if they still do that, as California has so many residential water restrictions. Plus, the limos go back & forth quite a lot on arrival night, so I’m thinking it would be a pain for production to have to keep hosing it down.

Michelle Money is either doing a really, REALLY good acting job, or she is bat$h!t crazy. I think she is a plant and is acting and playing the game for kicks.

How she acted over Ben was ridiculous with that letter, and then the jumping from Marquel, to Robert, to whomever, all while she sorta chats with Graham–her former flame–is a bit too obvious. And staged. Which makes the show seem less fun because it then just looks bogus and scripted.

    Which it is. DUMB.

about michelle money being crazy. she is getting a crazy edit. she cried over bens letter from a current girlfriend because it saddens her that a parent could leave his child for 2 or 3 weeks to do a bachelor type show and hes not even single. remember that michelle has a child too. also, graham is very good friend, never intended to make anyone jeleous or anything, its never her intention to rekindle that either. they are very close because he was her emotional support when her father died. if you think about graham other than a great friend, its editing. steve is trying hard to get us to understand that 90% of what we see is manipulated. so many scenes left out that would explain michelles crying, so many mixed up scenes to make us think in a certain way. michelle is emotional, yes. she is trying to love and not really in love, yes. but I cant call her crazy for exploring a relationship with marquel and Robert and talking to her good friend graham. shes not even hooking up.

I have a hard time believing Michelle Money does not have a few drops of crazy blood. Is it crazy or just desperation? She is clearly a knockout….so why she is still single is mystifying.

I love Sarah. She is beautiful inside and out.

Is it just me or has AshLee pumped her face full of fillers and Botox? She looks so overdone.

I love Michelle Money so I can’t call her names, and I agree she is getting a weird edit. They seem like they are dying to make us think she’s desperate with a few loose screws. I’ve watched her Youtube channel for years and she has never seemed anything but smart, kind, genuine and down to earth. She also devotes a lot of time and energy for charity work, which Steve has talked about in the past. She has shared in videos that she has had a nightmarish dating life, so if she truly is happy with Cody I couldn’t be happier for her.

I like that the editors did kind of a shifty job and include clips of the contestants talking about the actual time frame involved. Like Steve said in his spoiler, the show was filmed over three weeks, and its funny to see them talk about how Elise only knew Chris for a few days.

jessicat…but the show is weird in that days only past even though we only get to watch once a week…it’s different than the Bachelor or Bachelorette where each episode does span over a longer period of time or something.

I don’t think Michelle is getting a crazy edit….she IS crazy. I didn’t like her on Brad’s season but she’s been funny on BP and she’s funny now too. I like her overall and find her to be really entertaining.

It kind of drove me crazy during the episode that when the new girls came in, the other girls would say to ask whoever they wanted on their dates and they wouldn’t tell them who was coupled up, yet the women were literally laying on top of the guys they were coupled up with. It was just obvious they were all marking their territory so why not just say who was with who? I guess it would take some heat off the guys in the sense that they could keep their options open that way. It just came across badly to me.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I’m saying the same thing you are. Everyone refers to “last week’s rose ceremony” when it really the rose ceremonies are every 3-4 days. I was pointing out that the editing wasn’t so great on this episode, and there were times people were talking and the real timeline was revealed. The editing would like you to believe Chris and Elise met “last week”, but it was really only a few days that they’d known each other. People who don’t read this site wouldn’t know the real timeline.

What some of you do not know is that Michelle Money has actually been in movies. She has acted. Check her imdb out. Google her at Sundance FIlm Festival. I’m just saying, she is playing a role. She is doing it well. She is there to do whatever Elan wants. So she is mixing it up wit hteh guys and causing drama.

And the whole Chris B thing–staged. Seriously.
Come on people, this show is a scripted as the Kardashians. Makes it suck more. And it calls every other show in this franchise into question.

This crap undermines their own brand. Which sucks, but at least has an illusion on love. BP doesn’t even have that.

I’m surprised I’m enjoying “this crap” as much as I am. It’s entertaining summer garbage to watch on a brain-dead Monday night. I was so disgusted by the cast on the last BP. That was a really sleazy crew, with Chris B. at the top of the list. Though, the ending made it worth watching!

“Marqhe**” sure turned out to be a player!

I hope Sarah H. finds a wonderful man one of these days. She seems like a nice person….beautiful inside and out.
