Hi Steve! Did the producers ship Chris’ Harley all the way to California, or did they provide another one for him in LA?
Also, Whitney’s voice isn’t as bad as you warned us, but thanks for the heads-up!
Comment: I have no idea.
And yes it is.
Looking forward to reading your recaps this season!
Any word on why they require a paid TV subscription to watch the episode prior to 8 days after? I know they changed it a year or two ago but it doesn’t make sense why they do that when you can watch it for free on live TV. I haven’t noticed any of the other major networks doing this.
Comment: I can’t remember the reasoning, but a lot of the other major networks are doing it.
All I have to say is: …
Scratch that – I have numerous things to say now that I’ve watched the entire thing…
1. Nikki got a boob job, right? Yes.
2. First impression rose – it was so wilted and the petals were falling off! You’d think they would have taken care of that. At least pluck them off. Chris Harrison mentioned in his blog they replaced the one Britt was originally given by the time the rose ceremony rolled around.
3. The tears in the previews. ..oh the tears…make me smile…That’s what makes this show go.
4. In the previews, there was a shot where one of the girls (not sure who) was totally making out with Chris’ nose. It was awesome. I may have hit “rewind” a few times…I’d bet money that you did too.
Can’t wait for more regular posts from you. Thanks for the fun. 🙂
Comment: That was Ashley I., the virgin. Maybe that’s why it looks like she’s in 5th grade having her first make out session. The funny thing is as she’s eating his nose, she says “I could seriously kiss you all night.” I’m guessing Chris was thinking in his head, “Ummm, not like that you’re not.” That was bizarre.
Does Chris sleep with Kaitlyn after she enters the tent with him? The promo eluded to it.
Comment: The promos elude to a lot of things that never happen every single season. This one is no different. No, Chris didn’t sleep with Kaitlyn in the tent.
I saw Chris on Kimmel. He said within 24 hours, he was back on a combine. Why no time with the final lady? Or did she stay at the farm? He might’ve said it, but it doesn’t necessarily mean he meant it.
Also, I am positive Nick was invited by producers to come to the red carpet event, but Andi & Josh didn’t want him there….just a little FYI.
Looking forward to your blog today.
Comment: He was and they did.
Here’s a play on this year’s split entrance where the first 15 girls thought they were the only ones until the other group showed up.
Two separate houses, each holding 15 girls, neither house knowing anything about the other house until “the merge”. Final five girls in each house think they are it until… “the most dramatic episode ever” when they head off to a new location only to discover the other group! Holy fireworks and cat fights Batman!
Comment: Logistically it’d be impossible and there’s no way each group wouldn’t find out about the others. But it was a good effort.
Does Chris tell producers what he’s looking for or did producers have less to pick from because who would want to move to a farm in Iowa? The lead has zero say in the contestants chosen for them. They tell producers what they’re looking for in a woman, and then casting decides who will make the best television show. If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 1,000 times: This show is not casting 25 (or in this case 30) of the most compatible people for the lead. They’re casting for a television show. Always remember that.
This is the worst batch of women I have seen since Ben’s season. Not that we’re talking about a bunch of Einsteins who sign up for the show, but they all seem dumber than rocks and they all speak with the same annoying speech pattern Desiree has–what we used to call the “Valley Girl”. And Chris is excited about the “beautiful, intelligent women” he gets to pick from this season? Really?!? If this is what Chris is looking for he’s definitely not the catch the last season made him out to be. He’s gone down several notches in my book. What a trashy group of women. This is the second season after Ben’s I will not watch. YUCK!
Comment: Funny you say that. Before I went on the air Tuesday morning with the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show talking with producers. One of the people who worked on the show specifically told me, “I think this is the hottest group of women this show has ever had.” And not two seconds later, another one said, “No way. I think two girls are good looking.” See what I mean? Everyone has their preferences. You might think they’re all ugly and the worst cast ever, yet 7.7 million people didn’t seem to mind on Monday night. So unfortunately, because you’re not gonna tune in for the next 10 Monday’s, they don’t care. Millions of others will.
How does Chris (or any bachelor/bachelorette) remember the 20-some names during the rose ceremony the very first night?
Is there a list he’s reading off of that we don’t see or does he have to memorize it before they film? I can’t imagine he remembers all their names.
Thanks – love your site!
Comment: Oh boy. Dontcha’ love “Reader Emails” being back so we can start back with questions like these that have been answered a billion times before?
The lead does 3 or 4 names at a time, then leaves to go back to talk to production, then comes out again and does another 3 to 4 names. Of course no one can remember that many names on the first night, hence the reason they take breaks in between.
I’m very happy that you’re back. You have the best site out there. I have a question about Jade. I assumed that Chris’ sisters read your site, and warned Chris about Jade’s past, but you said the other day that his sisters actually choose Jade for the Cinderella date. My question is how and when does Chris find out what Jade has done in the past, and is that the reason why he’s going to send her home?
Comment: Good question. The Jade date happens in the first four episodes, which would’ve been in the beginning of October in real time. I didn’t report and post the pictures of Jade in Playboy until the Wednesday, Nov. 5th column, which happened to be one day before the final four rose ceremony when she was eliminated. Coincidence? I don’t know.
Couple questions for you:
1. Why are Sean and Jason the only former Bachelors that come back to these events like last night? I understand why not Juan Pablo, but I’m just curious why the others really don’t come back. Jason and Sean are the only Bachelors in their franchise’s history that married someone from the show. Could have something to do with it.
2. Which girls would you predict from Chris go on Bachelor in Paradise? Geez. I need more time on this one. But off the top of my head, I could see Jade, Kaitlyn, Carly, Ashley S., Nikki, and a few others being on it. If BIP is gonna keep the same format and have 30 or so contestants showing up, then basically anyone from Chris’ season is fair game and has a shot. Remember, Lacy got eliminated night 1 of Juan Pablo’s season and got cast on BIP, so anyone can basically make it.
3. Do you think there’s a possibility that they pull an Emily and have Clare be the next Bachelorette? They just seem to be promoting her still.
You missed the most entertaining part of last nights show. When Chris H was interviewing Lacy and Marcus he asked them about a wedding date and Lacys answer was that they were 80/40 on the date. WHAT??? We had to rewind the DVR to make sure we heard right. I knew she was an airhead but 80/40? Seriously? My husband and I laughed our asses off and all decisions made today have been answered using the 80/40 system. HA!
Comment: Lacy did that on purpose. She said 80/40 on “Bachelor in Paradise” and Twitter just about exploded on her before. She’s referenced it since then on Twitter so she’s basically just making fun of herself.
I was hoping you would address today the stuff shown in the promo last night. They made it seem like some real frisky stuff was going on in that tent between Kaitlyn and Chris. It seemed like the girls confronted him about it and that he felt bad, etc. I doubt Chris would go that far on camera and be openly disrespectful to the other girls. So what really did happen there?
Comment: I don’t know what happened. Don’t have that spoiler yet. But whatever it is, I can guarantee you it’s not nearly as big a deal as the promo is making it out to be. That’s what promos are for. To get people talking. They always over deliver and under perform. It’s never NOT been the case.
Hey Steve- long time reader, first time to email with a question!
In one of your earlier posts you said that you were double checking on a few other reasons production might be after Britt for the next Bachelorette. I was just wondering if you had heard anything more about these and if it is too early to share these with readers? I realize it’s soon but it is interesting since she seems to be everyone’s favorite girl (at least for the time being). Thanks for the great posts- the show wouldn’t be the same without you!
Comment: Thank you for remembering that. No, I haven’t been able to get confirmation of it. I think it’s true, but I don’t want to run with it yet until I know for sure. I need it double and triple sourced.
Happy New Year!
So excited that the new season is starting up – means me & my girlfriends get our regular wine night back! 🙂
Would love it if you had some info to clarify some of the things that we were all discussing while watching, mostly from the season previews:
1. Who got in the tent with Chris & what did they do? Kaitlyn is the one sneaking into the tent. I’m sure they just made out.
2. What happened to Kelsey – from the scene where she’s on the ground crying, with the medic? I don’t know.
3. What does Chris do that all the girls seem to have instances of being mad/needing to forgive him for?
Comment: I don’t know that either. I’ll try and find out. But like I said, I don’t think it’s nearly as big a deal as the show is making it.
