So unless you’ve been living under a rock since Friday night, I’m sure you’ve heard by now of what happened on Kaitlyn’s Snapchat account. And for those who don’t have a clue what Snapchat is, it’s basically an app where you can text, send pictures, and send videos, and they delete themselves shortly thereafter. Basically for all the teens to send nudie pics to their friends without fear of it ending up on the internet somewhere. Now the person you’re sending something to can take a screen shot of it, but you are informed if whatever you send them was screen shot. I mean, yeah some adults may have a Snapchat account (I have for about a month and still am getting used to it), but it’s mostly for teenagers. Basically it’s a little safer way to communicate maybe dirty messages and pictures with someone. Anyway, now that you have your Snapchat lesson, lets get to what Kaitlyn did. She sent out a video of her in bed with Shawn on Friday. If you missed it, here was the video:

Lets make a couple things perfect clear off that video. These are facts and they are indisputable. I can’t believe some of these things I have to point out, but based on tweets and emails I got this weekend, they need to be said:
-Kaitlyn posted that video to Snapchat, NOT photos. Because the video wasn’t up very long before she deleted it, what’s making the rounds on the internet mostly were people who saw it and started screen shotting the video. There are only a few accounts that have the whole video, and that was one of them.
-ANY video posted on Snapchat is a video that is happening at that moment. You cannot upload old videos to Snapchat. Not possible. Translation: Kaitlyn was in bed with Shawn on Friday night.
-Yes, that is Kaitlyn and Shawn in the video. Not Kaitlyn and Nick, or Kaitlyn and a guy we’ve never seen before (yes, I had people tweeting me that)
-Kaitlyn has her shorter blacker hair in that video, so for anyone thinking that it was from the fantasy suite – not the case. She just cut her hair and darkened it a couple weeks ago. The video was taken, and posted, on Friday night.
So where does that leave us? Lets start with the conspiracy theorists that say this video was purposely planted and released Friday night. I can tell you that’s not the case. Kaitlyn was with Shawn Friday night, and for whatever reason, accidentally posted that to Snapchat, numerous people saw it, then started tweeting at me, at her, at everyone with @kaitlynbristowe in their tweets, she realized what she’d done, and she deleted it immediately. This was done on accident and not done as some publicity stunt. I know a lot of you love to believe this show does stuff to try and screw with me, but I’m telling you, they don’t. It’s never happened and it never will happen. They are not going out of their way and revolving their show and its outcome around a one man spoiler operation. Yes, they aren’t thrilled I spoil their show, but they are not going around planting fake hints and sabotaging me with false information. I love a good conspiracy theory as the next person, but I’m telling you, that’s not the case.
Just think about what you’re saying if you believe it was a publicity stunt. You’re saying that ABC told Kaitlyn and Shawn to get in bed when they’re supposedly not together, film a video together, and upload it to get people talking. You’re giving them waaaaay too much credit. The last three season when I’ve released the spoiler early, they never did anything to throw people off on social media, so why would they do it now? Again, that didn’t happen. The show knows what the spoiler out there is, and the spoiler is that she’s single. Why in the world would they then purposely have her post a video showing her with Shawn? If they know the ending, and the ending happened to be that she’s with Shawn, yet the spoiler says she’s single, they are basically keeping their fingers crossed until the finale that I don’t find out ending, so doing something like this on purpose makes zero sense on any level. They’d want it kept under wraps. Kinda like, “Hey, he thinks she’s single. Let him keep thinking that.” Posting a video of her in bed with Shawn is the exact opposite of what they’d want done.
Every media outlet ran with this story for the last 3 days. ABC had no comment on the story for every request. Of course they didn’t. And they will not comment on it for the remainder of the season. They can’t. What do you expect them to say? “Yep. Kaitlyn was with Shawn Friday night. We’re disappointed but she just gave away the ending.” No, ABC will now bank on the ignorance of a majority of their audience who don’t have a clue what Snapchat is or how it works. Lets face it, I’d say 90-95% of their audience doesn’t have the faintest idea what Snapchat is and how it works. It’s basically a teenager app and that’s not their demographic. They can’t address it because they know that she gave away she was with Shawn on Friday. They can’t say, “No, it’s not what it seems like” because that would be a lie. And they can’t say, “Yes, she gave it away” because that would be revealing their own spoiler. They will ignore it and that will be that. So expecting any sort of confirmation or denial from ABC ain’t coming. They’ll just let everyone else speculate and go about their business. But since you all have your lesson on the app now, there’s zero speculation. She was with him in bed on Friday night when she posted it.
So what does this all mean in regards to the spoiler I gave you at the beginning of the season? Because lets face it, that’s what you’re most interested in hearing about today of whether or not the spoiler is right or wrong. I was just as surprised as you when that video came to be on Friday night. And why wouldn’t I be? Just like the past three seasons, I was given solid information this season that Kaitlyn was single and she dumped both Nick and Shawn at the final rose ceremony, so I ran with it. The video on Friday obviously threw a wrench into things, so I spent the last three days checking with sources and finding out what I could. And unfortunately, the spoiler is wrong. Dammit. I hate it when that happens.
Kaitlyn did not dump Shawn at the final rose ceremony. They got engaged and she’s been with him since that day.
Trust me, I’d like nothing better than to tell you the spoiler is right and the Kaitlyn/Shawn hook up started after the show once she had a change of mind, but that’s not what happened. Trust me, I looked into it to see if that was maybe the cast. It wasn’t. The spoiler was wrong. The parts about Nick? Those are right. Next week you’ll see he is the guy Kaitlyn has sex with on their 1-on-1 date in Dublin, and he does propose to her in the finale and she rejects him. Just the info I had about Shawn was wrong. No different than the Des season. Nothing to hide from. It’s wrong. I have no problem admitting that and never have. She’s engaged to Shawn. No excuses, no reasoning for why certain things were the way they were, I’m just happy I found out now rather than the night of the finale. Much easier for me, and all of you, to watch the rest of the season now knowing she’s engaged to Shawn.
What does this mean going forward? Not much. I’m still gonna be here every season spoiling the show and one setback like this isn’t going to stop me. I’ve now gotten 7 of the last 9 seasons right, and even this one I was able to correct before the finale. But hey, for those who lives revolve around me being wrong, have at it. I was wrong this season. I don’t like being wrong about the ending even when all the other details I post are correct, but it obviously happens. No need to go into details about the who, when, why, and how I was wrong because I still don’t give up my sources. When I was right about Juan Pablo’s, Andi’s, and Chris’ season once it was over did I say, “Well here’s how I knew…” No. And now that this ending is out there now, no need to say, “Well this is what I was told.” It’s not important. It was wrong info. It’s my job to report the ending correctly and I apologize for not getting it right. This is the correct ending.
The only thing I will answer is that basically every season, I get info from sources I’ve never heard from before. Rare occasions the same sources have given me info on more than one season, but for the most part, every season is different. The sources who told me Juan Pablo chose Nikki but wasn’t engaged, was sources I’d never heard from before then. And then with Andi’s season, same thing. Then Chris’ season, same thing. Yet those were all right. This season’s info about Shawn and Nick I’d never heard from them before either, but it turned out to be wrong. So it has nothing to do with finding new sources, or that the show purposely did this. If you knew anything about the sources I’ve spoken to over the years, you’d realize what an asinine statement it is to make that the show had something to do with it. They don’t. They don’t care enough about me to spread false information. If they did, then why didn’t they do it the past three seasons when the correct winner was spoiled before the first episode aired? They knew the spoiler was out there but there wasn’t any misinformation campaign to lead me the wrong way, or get me to change. They film their show every season and then just cross their fingers I don’t find out the ending. Usually I do. This season I didn’t (at least up until today), but now you know the ending with over a month left to go in the season.
I’m the only person on the internet that season after season after season after season puts his neck on the line and puts his name to the spoiler and never backs down from it. When I’m right, I’m right. When I’m wrong, I’m wrong and I admit it. I was wrong on Des’ season then spoiled the next three correctly. For the last month, I was wrong. With a little help from Kaitlyn stupidly Snapchatting Friday night, it forced me to dive deeper into things because her being with Shawn in bed made no sense if she’d dumped him. None. I had heard rumblings last week that maybe the spoiler was wrong, but they were no different than rumblings I hear every season. I was solid enough, or so I thought, with my sources that I brushed them off. But once the video came out, I knew there might’ve been a liiiiiiitle more to it, so I dug and found out that yes, the spoiler was wrong. A question now you could ask is would I have eventually found out sometime in the next 5 weeks about Shawn and Kaitlyn if the video hadn’t posted? Tough one. It’s possible, but there’s no way to know for sure. I could’ve gotten a hard tip tomorrow, or I could’ve gotten nothing for 5 weeks and been surprised at the finale. I’d like to think I would’ve found out before the finale, but I just don’t know. Too hard to say.
So I’m glad I could finally clear up the spoiler for you, with a little help from Kaitlyn. Absolutely the show is pissed at what happened Friday night, but what can they do? The cat’s out of the bag. They can’t take it back, every media outlet has run with it, and they’re not going to sue her. I’m sure they’ll just be even more cautious with social media going forward, but if someone’s gonna screw up, they’ll screw up. What’s funny is that this is the second consecutive “Bachelorette” season Snapchat essentially gave away the ending. Remember, last season I gave you a screen shot of Josh’s “top 3 favorites” and Andi’s “andidorfman” Snapchat name was in his favorites. Looking back on it now, that was just as much a spoiler that she chose him than the Nick vidoes were. But because Snapchat was still kind of in its infancy, people didn’t give it that much credibility. Or as much as it should’ve been given. But the bottom line is just like Friday night’s video post (where you can’t post videos that are happening live), last year Snapchat’s “top 3 favorites” feature showed which 3 people you chatted the most with and Andi was in Josh’s favorites. That feature no longer exists on Snapchat, but in May 2014 it sure did and essentially spoiled they were together because, well, why would they be snapchatting each other that many times if she’d dumped him? Ahhhhh, social media to the rescue. It’s probably the biggest issue this show has to deal with now, and I guarantee you, someone will screw it up again in the future. Thank you Snapchat! I love you!
