If you’ve listened to my first podcast, many of you would know my background in sports talk radio. Always wanted to be a radio host. That career path changed after about 2002, but podcasting is a way for me to bring it back at least on a somewhat smaller scale. Last week on Twitter I mentioned that for this next podcast, I wanted it to just be calls from the listeners. I figured 3 podcasts of hearing just me for around 40 minutes could be getting old. So having a guest/caller on is something I plan on incorporating into most podcasts going forward. Got it started this week with three calls from listeners that I think you’ll enjoy. I didn’t want people to just call up, ask a question, and then I answer it for 5 minutes. I wanted it to be more of a back and forth conversation where you share your opinions on things and I react, and that’s exactly what we got. Once next week kicks up, I’d really like to incorporate at least one “Dr. Reality Steve” call into the podcast every week. Just because in email there’s only so much info you can give me, and I usually have follow up questions, to which there are no answers. So I’m putting it out there right now, if you want to be on the podcast with a “Dr. Reality Steve” question, and you have access to Skype, please email me and let me know. I can pretty much record it at any time, and hopefully we’ll have one to run next week.

Today’s podcast: (SPOILERS) Discussing the new ABC/ESPN Bachelor Fantasy League, caller #1 Kelly from DC asks about villains & casting (5:07), caller #2 Abby Draper discusses the interactions she’s had with Nick (15:15), and caller #3 Lisa from CT shares her thoughts on Amanda & Josh’s breakup from the perspective of a single mom (36:15).
One thing I wanted to point out in regards to Abby Draper and her call. She references on numerous occasions how she’s talked and met up with Nick. I’m sure doubters would love to question her validity, but if you go to her Instagram page (@AbbyDraper), you will essentially see every different time she met up with Nick because there are pictures she has with him. I appreciate Abby’s candor regarding Nick, and this coming from someone who is admittedly a fan of his. I don’t think anything you hear from her is all that shocking if you’ve believed anything I’ve told you over the last year or so, but it definitely is interesting to listen to from someone he directly told these things to. Nick knows what he’s doing. He’s a smart guy. He’s very well aware of who writes what about him out there, and he knows by trying to jump on their good side, in return he hopes to get positive publicity. It’s his M.O. at this point. Suck up to as much media as possible in hopes they don’t write anything negative. And if/when they do, he does not take too kindly to that. The stories are endless.
In addition, really enjoyed Kelly’s take on villains and casting in addition to Lisa with her thoughts on the Amanda and Josh breakup from the single mom perspective. Definitely in agreement with her on that one, but I did want to hear from a single mom regarding her thoughts on how both of them handled their relationship with kids involved. Hint: Not well. Really enjoyed this podcast, probably my favorite one so far, and I hope you do too. We will definitely be incorporating more calls/guests in future podcasts. Preferably at least one call/guest in all of them going forward. But again, since we’re only a little over a week away from the first podcast during Nick’s season, if you have a “Dr. Reality Steve” question that you’d like to have a back and forth on and you have the ability to Skype, email me at the address below and we will get it done.
I think there’s a chance I might throw a bonus podcast in by the end of the week with the episode-by-episode spoilers. Well, as much of the details as I can since I don’t have everything in episodes 2, 3 & 4 covered yet. It will definitely be released in a column, but will do a follow up podcast as well, so stay tuned for details on that. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
