“The Bachelor” Ben Recap Including Tricky Editing & More Videos

    

Ooooohhhhh, gonna start things off before the recap today with three videos for you to check out. One is about the show, one is about a contestant, and one is about, well, me and my inability to know where the hell to put my hands during a stand up interview. It’s all very confusing. You’ll see.

Remember how Lucy used to eff with Charlie by telling him she’ll hold the ball out for him to kick, only to pull it back at the last second every time? Well, the producers/editors of the “Bachelor” are effing with the audience again and giving misleading promos. I’ve given you numerous occasions throughout the years where I’ve tried to point out to you how much editing can play a role in what you see, what you think, and what you feel really happened. Ben’s High School Reunion Pictures, Videos, and the Return of Your “Reader Emails” – 1/5/12

    

First wanted to talk about the ratings for the “Bachelor” being down 17% from Brad’s premiere at the same time last year. Look, you know I’m not someone who will ever come to the defense of this show, but when I get emails and hear people say, “See, no one’s watching anymore. Ratings were down 17%,” it’s time to tell people they have no idea what that actually means. Overall viewership was down 17% from last season’s Brad premiere. Still, 7.7 million people watched on Monday. But that’s not the story. If you actually read into the numbers (which 99.99999% of people don’t), you’ll see that viewership increased in the second hour from the first hour and, most importantly, it won it’s two hour time slot in the coveted women 18-34 range. That’s all they care about folks. Every single Monday night for the next 11 weeks, ABC will win the women demographic between 8-10pm EST. That’s what their advertisers are paying for.
