Let’s talk about Clayton and we’re not going to spend too much time talking about the Lord owns part of it, but Clayton is going to be podcast number 400. Next week. It’s going to be on YouTube. I’ve told you this for the last week or so. But I wanted to start hyping it up and I wanted to start, you know, trying to get into the whole video medium because I’ve only been audio for seven years now, eight years, whatever it is.
So I really wanted to get into the video medium and you know, obviously been dabbling in that. We’ve had live shows every Sunday night, did a live stream this past Wednesday, but and then we’re back Sunday, of course, with a live stream, eight Eastern seven, central six mountain five Pacific this Sunday, check it out.
We’re going to have a guest. I don’t know who yet. But I wanted to start teasing out some clips from my interview with Clayton. That’s going to run next Thursday for podcast number 400. Well, yesterday I kind of proud of myself. Went online, looked at some YouTube videos, some tutorials, and I taught myself how to make a video clip.
So there you go. I did that. They’re on my Instagram feed, Instagram stories. I put them on Tik TOK, which I haven’t used since last summer. And I put it on Twitter. So if you did not see any of that, I want to just play these for you and kind of go over it. This first clip is Clayton talking about his role as the bachelor and how he felt basically right when the show ended.
And as he’s in Iceland, Susie has basically said, I can’t be with you. And he’s standing there in Iceland as the cameras are rolling. Here’s what he said.
Like the perfect ending. And I’m just standing there and I couldn’t believe it. I’m like, is my life even real? Like how did this happen? Like I legitimately was found a way to become the first bachelor.
That ended up being alone that nobody wanted to be with. And I was, again, at the time I was a people pleaser. I didn’t feel good enough. I said that on Michelle’s season. So I’m sitting there and I’m like, just, there you go. You’re not good enough. You had 30 women and not a single one of them. You ended up with none of them at the ends.
I mean, he’s not lying. He was a bachelor and he had 30 women and he ended up with none at the end. So it’s like, you know, it’s, but to hear him say that. And to, you can hear it in his voice like, man, what happened? How’s this, how’d this happen to me? You know, and you look at the whole thing and you’re like, wow, yeah, that did happen.
He’s the only bachelor in the history of the show where none of the women wanted him. He ended up with nobody at the end. Now you can say Brad Womack didn’t end up with anybody, but that was by his choosing. He chose to dump Melissa Rycroft and. Jenny ball Jenny Croft at the time. Now she’s Jenny bottle auto who has been a podcast guest before.
Anyway, Clayton’s the first one in the history that did that. Then the next clip that I’m going to play for you is Clayton basically saying, Hey, look, this played a major, major toll. This took a major, major, major toll on my mental health. And he goes a little deep here.
I just stood out there and I looked out the window and I’m like, Why me?
Like, why, why, why? Like, what was the point of even going through this? Like, why did I have to be chosen? Like, this was the worst thing that ever happened to me, you know? And wouldn’t this be easier if like, I just ended it all. Like, I don’t even want to like, go live another day. Like, this is just too much.
Like, I just, I just wanted people to like me. Like, I just wanted it to be beloved for once in my life.
So that was pretty deep. I mean, Clayton saying, you know, basically thinking about ending it all. I obviously don’t want to hear that, but. That’s how he felt when nobody liked him in America, everybody hated the rose ceremony from hell, which is something that I haven’t released a clip of yet, but we definitely dive into it and we talk about it and he says, not making excuses, but he gives you a reason as to because you had the question and I had the question, dude, why did you tell three women that you love them?
How did you think that was going to go over? And he answers it. Again, not making excuses. He’s just answering the question that I gave him. Why did you say it? And you’ll be hearing that in the episode. But I think one of the interesting things is just, you know, getting that place mentally for him.
Obviously that’s tough to hear that he got that low, which then played a role in his relationship with Susie. And here’s what he had to say about once everything was over, he had gotten back with Susie. How outside influences affected his relationship with her.
Even though I ended up becoming the bachelor, like all these things that should have amounted to something, I ended up becoming, finding a way to be hated.
And so I just felt like, I’m like, there’s nothing you can do in this lifetime, Clayton, to be loved. That’s, that’s how I felt because I was placing so much importance on external validation. I was placing so much importance upon accolades and accomplishments. And so I thought, what more can you do, man? You became the bachelor and you still are hated.
Like every bachelor is supposed to be beloved, but not you. You found a way to be the one that was hated. So it just, it just destroyed me and I had no self worth. And so imagine being in a relationship with somebody that has no confidence in no self love. How do you expect them to give any type of love to your partner when they can’t even love themselves?
Again, a great answer and very introspective. He had no self worth. Yeah. It’s like, how can I give something to Susie when I don’t even love myself? How can I give anything to this relationship where I don’t even believe in myself? So I, I’d say that was pretty revealing by him. And again, there’s so many other things in the podcast that he talks about.
That are along those lines of how he was feeling America’s take on him, how his season was basically promoted and he felt essentially behind the eight ball from the very get go, which he was. I mean, I, I, it’s not like he’s the only person in the world that thinks he was the only person that he started behind the eight ball.
I think a lot of people do, I did. I thought he did because just the way he was announced, you know, he was the first guy in the history of the show to be named as the bachelor who we had never seen on a previous season before. And I’m talking about the new era of the show, not going back to the Andrew Firestone days and Byron Velvick.
I’m talking about basically Brad Womack first time. So the next one was Jason Mesnick. So basically from Jason Mesnick season on, and that’s when the show has taken off in a Tay day. From Jason Mesnick’s season on, every Bachelor that we’ve, that has been announced, we already know who they are because they’ve been on a previous season.
Clayton, when he announced, when he was announced as the Bachelor, had finished filming Michelle’s season, finished 9th, but yet none of his episodes had aired yet. So we didn’t even know him and yet he’s forced down our throats. Here’s our Bachelor. By the way, he’s gonna be on next season of Michelle.
Which we also talk about it’s, it’s really fascinating, not to mention when they did announce him on the, after the final rose that season here, he is coming on stage and he’s reading mean tweets about himself of everybody insulting him. I asked him at the time you’re reading that, do you realize what’s happening here?
And he’s like, no, at the time I didn’t. And then I’m done with it. And I’m realized, Oh my God, they’re not laughing with me. They’re laughing at me. So. Really good stuff there by Clayton. And yes, as I mentioned to you, he does talk about Laura Owens. We do discuss it. And here is the clip that I played yesterday and put it on my social media.
Here’s what he had to say about Laura Owens and how it kind of started with her and his first inkling that, Oh boy, something’s up here.
Thing is, and this is what’s scary is she was normal until she wasn’t. There was no signs whatsoever the night that she was over at my place. She was a normal woman.
I did not pick up on any signs that she had any type of screw loose. And then the next day when I told her I made a mistake, she starts crying. And that was like my first little yellow flag. I’m like, Whoa, I just met you. Why are you bawling your eyes out and saying, like, Please give me a chance. And I said, no, I’m sorry.
Like I made a mistake. I’ll have you, I’ll pass you over to another realtor, a coworker of mine. They’ll get this done. I don’t want the commission on this. Like, I’m sorry. I made the mistake and I’m willing to forego that. Like, let’s just go ahead and move beyond this. And she was like, no, please. I only want to work with you and give me a chance, please.
And I finally started to get agitated because I told her no, about seven, eight times at that point. So I finally said, Laura, No is no. Stop asking me to date you. Like, it’s over. I made a mistake. I’m taking accountability, but stop asking me. Like, now you’re being disrespectful to my, to how I feel and my decision.
And I will never forget the look she gave me. It was the darkest, just her face glossed over. And she went from crying to just straight face and she looked at me and she goes, Okay, I totally get it. She said, you have a good rest of your day. She got out of the car, and I remember I had chills. I had goosebumps.
I was like, I don’t know what that was, but that felt demonic. She just completely went stone faced. And I just knew, she walked out of the car, and I’m like, I don’t know what that was, but that’s not the end of it. And I did not think it was going to be what it was, but that was the first moment where I’m like, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, this is, I’m dealing with somebody dangerous.
Yeah. Say the least. So yeah, the day after the hookup, that’s basically what he’s talking about. They hooked up May 20th, 2023. The very next day he was sitting in a car with her because they had, you know, discussing a business deal. She wanted to purchase two properties through him and, you know, the previous night they had hooked up and he just said, look.
I made a mistake across the line there. Shouldn’t have done it. I, you know, I just don’t see myself dating you. And then she just would, like you heard him say, bawling, broke down into tears over a guy she hooked up with the night before was the only night she’d ever met him in her life. They hook up.
He tells her the next day he doesn’t even ghost her. He’s honest with her. He says, look, I crossed the line. Shouldn’t have happened. Don’t worry about your deals. I’ll get them to another realtor, get them done that way. And she starts bawling in front of him. He’s like, that is weird. And then as you heard him say, goes absolutely stone faced and says, okay, let’s see how it is.
You have a great day. Shock. She didn’t say all the best since she signs every single email, all the best. But yeah really good interview again. Like I said, I’ll probably maybe put out some more teasers this weekend and look, I’m not going to be able to do it for every interview that I have because some interviews, my Thursday podcast, I’m going to be recording on Wednesday.
Good day. Clayton’s I just happened to record almost two weeks in advance. So I’ve got some time to play with it. Probably puts out some more clips this weekend. Cause I also want to get used to making clips and, you know, getting it out of my social media channels, but it’s just, it’s a, I mean, just by those clips, I think you can tell is a really, really eyeopening interview.
And I’m glad everyone’s going to get to see a side of Clayton that you probably haven’t heard yet. So again, I really thank him for coming on and being as open and honest as he was.
