You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve podcast. I’m your host Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Tuesday. We’re going to go over last night’s episode four of Jen’s season of The Bachelorette. Some thoughts to give on what we saw last night, more talk a little bit about Sam McKinney and his family, along with the tweets.
Well, not actually tweets comments under Instagram pages that they left and just kind of a general overview of stuff that we’re talking about and why it’s different than other people in the past who have complained about their edit. And we’ve got a relationship news in bachelor nation, Victoria Fuller.
Dating a starting NFL quarterback for the Tennessee Titans. So that’s hard launched. It’s been known, but it’s now hard launched yesterday. And we’ll get to all that momentarily. So let’s start out with episode four of Jen season last night. And we weren’t a minute into the episode when we see Sam McKinney in Auckland, New Zealand.
After they had gotten off the boat and he’s in an ITM and he’s talking and we can see his face and we can see his lips moving and he immediately starts trash talking Devin. And this is the kind of stuff that we’re talking about. His family won’t acknowledge that. I will give them the fact that right after that, it was all a bunch of soundbites that we never saw Sam saying on camera and you could tell it was spliced together from previous weeks.
Just repeating the same stuff over and over. Keep the main thing, the main thing, all this stuff. That was just spliced together. And But what I’m interested in and the stuff that we’re calling them out for, because they seem to only talk about, Oh, this show is manipulating scenes and they’re doing this and you’re taking everything out of context.
They’re not showing the full context. Well, I’m sorry. Go back to last night’s episode, one minute into the episode and look at what they did. It was an ITM with Sam and he started trash talking Devin out of the blue for no reason. Now you can say, well, he was asked about Devin by a producer. Yeah. Yeah.
That’s what producers do. That’s their job to get you to talk shit about other contestants. This would not be a successful show if they didn’t do that. So you can’t blame that on production or editing. Cause we saw him say it and it really was kind of out of left field. It didn’t really need to say that he didn’t need to bring it up.
He didn’t need to say like, Oh, I just hope I don’t have to be on a date with Devin. It’s like, okay, we get it. You don’t like them. Period. End of story. Like move on. Stop talking about him yet. Of course, later on in the episode, he’s saying how nothing Devin does phases him and his name, he never brings up his name, which is just, I think Sam’s living in an alternate reality when he was on the show.
I mean, just the things that he says to Devin, his actions are the complete opposite. Here’s the point I want to make about yesterday’s one on one date with Sam. Remember when I talked about it on the live stream, Sunday night. The sisters, the brother, the brother in law and the parents, they’re talking about this teaser that ran on Sunday about Sam and the one on one date with Jen on the Skyfall date.
And the teaser made it seem like Sam wasn’t looking out for Jen’s feelings. And what ended up happening, it was just weird of the family to rail on the show for that when they knew Sam ended up getting a rose on the date and clearly He was fine with Jen. Yes. In the beginning, she was like, he doesn’t seem to be looking out for me and all this stuff.
And I’m sure they’ll find a reason to whine and complain about that. But ultimately they were just upset over a teaser for the episode of their date, Sam and Jen’s one on one date. When they knew that Sam ended up getting a date a rose at the end of the date, and he kissed her. She showed he was interested.
She was interested in him. Like that’s the main thing that I’m just scratching my head at. Like if they’re getting bothered by the show, teasing that Jen wasn’t too thrilled with the way Sam was acting when they found out about the Skyfall date, man, they’re going to have some serious problems with this show.
That’s what the show does. The show has always been about misdirection, especially in their previews. How many times have we seen in a preview where the show leads you to think one thing and it sends it up being something totally opposite. It’s no different than what they’d put out for Sam’s date. And the thing was.
Outside of that, at the beginning of the episode, and Sam at the very first part of sitting there at lunch when the Skyfall date was happening, and then his one on one sitting there with Devin while the guys were on a group date, yet again, going into a dialect that I just don’t understand. When he talks to Jen, he sounds like a normal human being.
When he talks to Devin and gets all riled up, he has this dialect that I don’t even know, what language is he speaking? What accent is this? Like I said, it doesn’t sound Myrtle Beach to me. Because it doesn’t even come out when he’s talking to Jen, but when he’s arguing with Devin, he’s is, is he a rapper?
I don’t understand it. Maybe someone can explain it to me, but my gosh, such a different accent, dialect, whatever you want to call it. It just, if you talk like that all the time, I’d be like, okay, this is what he sounds. He doesn’t sound like that when he talks to Jen, he only sounds like that when he’s talking to Devin.
I don’t know if he’s trying to sound tougher, sound more street. I don’t know what it is, but go listen to when he was talking to Devin and sitting there while the other guys were on a group date and he was arguing with Devin and then go back and rewind and watch when he’s talking to Jen. It is not the same dialect.
It is not the same accent. It is not the same voice and I don’t know what he’s doing anyway. With that said, this is what I mean. And like the family was just absolutely losing their marbles. Over this one on one date when they didn’t even really need to because outside of maybe the first couple minutes.
It was nothing that was nothing Hell, I don’t even think Sam is one of the worst ten villains in this show’s history and this family is acting like oh my gosh He’s being treated like the worst person ever. No, he’s not He’s the villain this season sure, but I can name ten villains worse than Sam McKinney But the family is just so butthurt and they just expecting him to be loved by everybody.
It’s just, it doesn’t work that way. Nobody in the show’s history, nobody is universally loved by everybody. You take the most light contestant, Tyler Cameron. I don’t know. Everybody’s got a problem with somebody. There’s just, there’s not one person that’s universally liked, but they expected him to be universally liked.
And that’s the crazy thing. The other thing is. The stuff that they’re complaining about they’re thinking that by saying all this stuff and going and writing in the captions on the Instagram accounts They’re actually thinking that They’re bringing something new, like they’re, they’re telling everybody, Oh my gosh, this show manipulates contestants.
Like they’re acting like they’re breaking news to, to the fan base. It’s like, Hey McKinney’s, we know, we know how this show works. You don’t because you just joined it back in March when your son joined the show. You’re not breaking any news to us. We know all this stuff. That’s why it makes them look bad.
And like I said, each villain is a case by case basis. You know, there might be somebody next season on the next season of The Bachelor a woman who gets portrayed wrong that I might end up defending and be like, yeah, that’s out of, that’s out of line. The fact that he’s got six family members who have written online and talked about the show, knowing that Sam had to be home for his sister’s May 10th wedding, that he was officiating, so he was never going to win, production knew it.
Sam knew it. He was never going to win. They weren’t going to cancel the show or, or move the show up a week. So Sam could get engaged to Jen. It was a non negotiable him going on the show and being home for his sister’s wedding as it should have been. That’s more important than a silly reality show. So that’s why I can’t really take anything he’s saying very serious on this show.
But this is what I mean. It’s just like, come on, let’s, let’s go. Let’s get to a point where you got to understand this is a television show. It’s highly edited. If you don’t know that by now, unfortunately, that’s on you. Your contracts specifically state that the producers can do anything they want to you.
And you know, the worst part McKinney family, you have zero legal recourse. You can’t do anything about it. They are never going to release the full story, quote unquote, that you want them to release. So you can scream about it from the mountaintops until you’re blue in the face. The audience is never going to see what you’re claiming, the things that are taken out of context and stuff like that.
It’s never going to get shown. So you’re never going to win. So that’s why I say you might as well just be quiet about it. I think that’s pretty simple. His one on one date actually went well, clearly Jen’s into him and his family is just wasting their breath, constantly complaining about this. This podcast is brought to you by Mint Mobile.
