Podcast #402 – Interview with Jacqueline Trumbull

Joined today by one of my favorite guests to have on, good friend Jacqueline Trumbull covering Jenn’s season through 4 episodes, what she thinks of the Devin/Sam M. fight, why she was disappointed in Aaron, finishing up her PhD in New York starting next month, her “A Little Help For Our Friends” podcast, and much, much more. Before I have Jacqueline on I talk about Carrie Underwood being added as the 3rd judge for American Idol which is a huge get for them, Big Brother eviction night happening tonight and there’s really only one answer for who needs to go (assuming they don’t win in the BB AI Arena), a content creator you’re familiar with could use your help, some 90210/Melrose talk, and a former DWTS contestant getting divorced – after speaking about earlier marital troubles during their time competing on a podcast a month ago. Thanks again to Jacqueline for coming on. Always love hearing her perspective on things. Enjoy…

DAILY ROUNDUP 8/1 TRANSCRIPT

You are listening to the daily roundup here as part of the reality. Steve podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve. Thank you all for tuning in a good Thursday show for you. I’m going to talk about what’s upcoming in podcast number four Oh two. We’ve got your new third American idol judge and it’s a doozy big brother last night.

I just, I can’t with Angela anymore. Let’s haul hope and pray. She doesn’t win BBA arena tonight. And they just vote her out. It’s it’s getting to a point of ridiculousness, a bachelor content creator could use a little of your help. I’m going to talk a little 90210 and Melrose crossover and some dancing with the stars talk yet again, because a former contestant on dancing with the stars is going through a divorce just a month after he maybe had revealed it on a podcast.

And we’ll get to that momentarily. So let’s start by talking about podcast number 402 coming up in a couple hours from now. It’s going to be with Jacqueline Trumbull, one of my good friends from this franchise. She’s been on the podcast at least, I don’t know, six, seven, eight times. And she talks about the first four episodes of Jen’s season and gives her opinion where she’s at.

She’s very well aware. Of the Sam McKinney family stuff. We go over that. We also talk about the treatment of Sam and what she thinks about Sam and how that was all handled, how editing works. The one guy that she’s really surprised at how he acted. If you saw the teaser online that I put on social media and tick tock yesterday, you’ll know who I’m talking about.

Just a very good conversation with Jacqueline. We also talk about what’s going on in her life, her podcast, a little help for our friends. And then in a month. She moves to New York for a year to finish the sixth year of her PhD program. It’s going to have to carry on a long distance relationship. We go over that and everything that that entails, but going back to New York for the next year is something we discuss at the end of the podcast.

So obviously a very fun talk. With Jacqueline, it’s always good to get her insight on this show. She was a contestant on RE season. She went on Bachelor in Paradise briefly, even though we don’t even talk about it. This episode, we talk about her podcast and a little bit about the last time she was on.

Remember she had, had just done a podcast with someone who suffered from multiple personality disorder or DID is what they’re calling it now. And that person’s name. For secrecy purposes on the podcast, they called her Molly, the one that had 13 different personalities in her head. We briefly discussed that, but just a great conversation with Jacqueline.

I always like talking to her. She’s so easy to talk to. She’s been a friend for a while now. And I kind of mentioned it the other day. Remember, you know, she’s really good friends with Jenna Cooper and through all of it, through everything that I was reporting wrongly about Jenna back in 2018. I mean, Jacqueline always defended Jenna to me.

But she didn’t dump me as a friend and say like, screw you for saying this about Jenna. She just always said, Steve, are you sure about your sources? And I, you know, obviously I was kept saying yes, yes, yes. And then when Jenna came to me a year and a half later and explained to me, Hey, Steve, this is what happened.

I’ve here’s all the receipts. And I was like, wow. I appreciate the fact that Jacqueline didn’t just ignore me and didn’t just be like, Oh, what a jerk, you know, she appreciated what I did and I appreciate her friendship by sticking by me and we’ll always be thankful for her of that. And I really.

Love having her on. I mean, it’s just always a good talk. She’s always fun to text with and kind of go over everything with run, but run by her a few things that we talk about. So good conversation today. That’s coming up in a couple hours, podcast number 402, which obviously will also be on YouTube at eight 15, excuse me, nine 15 Eastern time.

Just go to my YouTube channel. It will post at that point. And if you watch it in real time from nine 15 on, you can comment during it on the live chat that happens while it’s, while it’s on, it’s about an hour long. So go check that out. Podcast four Oh two with Jacqueline Trumbull coming up at nine 15 Eastern time.

It’ll be in your podcast feed right around that time and it’ll go live on YouTube at nine 15 Eastern time. So check that out on my YouTube channel. Reality Steve, reality, Steve 24. Technically, I don’t even know what you have to type in. But if you type in reality, Steve, you’ll find a video that is one of mine.

And then just click on my name and it’ll bring you to my reality. Steve YouTube page. Well, they finally made the announcement yesterday. Katy Perry, as we know, left American idol after this past season. She was an excellent judge. I thoroughly enjoyed Katy Perry, but when she left, I realized they’re going to need to get a big name.

And I know that a lot of people, and I know that Megan trainer was pushing for it, but no disrespect whatsoever to Megan trainer, she’s not a big enough name to be a judge on American Idol. It just would have. Not been, I don’t want to say appointment television, but she just doesn’t have that big name. I don’t believe she’s currently touring.

I can’t remember the last album or hit she put out. And again, I could be wrong. And maybe she has a song here or there outside of all about that base. But if she does, I’ve never heard it regardless. I think by naming Carrie Underwood, the third judge on American Idol next season, they knocked it out of the park.

I mean, this is the season four winner, arguably the most successful contestant in the history of this show. I mean, it was. A huge, huge get for them. I don’t know how much they’re paying her, but I gotta believe it’s going to be 15 to 20 million a season. She’s got a family in Nashville. She’s got kids that are fairly young.

I don’t think she’s doing that show in LA for more than less than 15 to 20 million a season. You know, maybe it’s more, I don’t know if we’re ever going to get the details on her contract, but I’m just ecstatic for her. And it goes back to the story I told you. Probably towards the end of idle this year when I was talking about it, member, I told you back in my mortgage days in 2000, whatever it was three or four, there was a guy in my office who was such a big Bo Bice fan and I was Carrie Underwood and I was just like, how do you not see?

The, you know, the night that Simon told her, not only are you going to win this competition, you’re going to go on to sell more records than anybody in the history of the show, which I believe he ended up being right about. If not, she’s number two behind Kelly Clarkson, but you know, Simon nailed it with her.

And he said that about halfway through the competition. He knew it. He saw the star quality and she ended up delivering. And remember I was talking to my, talking to you about, I had this guy that was just no way, man. Bo Bice. This guy’s going to be a star. I’m like, You’re nuts. He might be decent, but Carrie Underwood is going to be world famous.

And obviously that ended up happening. And I brought it up to you a couple of months ago. And I said, I remember his name was Glenn. I don’t remember his last name. And then I went and did a search on Facebook a couple of days after I had talked about that on my podcast. And I found him. He’s married to kids, still lives in Southern California.

No, I didn’t reach out to him and been like, Hey, remember when we had that argument about Carrie Underwood versus Beau Bice? How about now? You think I should bring it up to him now? Like, Hey man, remember me 24 years ago, telling you 20 years ago, telling you Carrie Underwood was going to be bigger than Beau Bice.

Now she comes back to the show that created her and she’s going to be the third judge for season, whatever season it is. I’ve lost track, but it’s just, that’s a huge get. Yeah, I know a lot of people were saying, what if Taylor Swift did it? Taylor Swift would never do American Idol. She’s almost, she’s too big for that show.

Not that Carrie Underwood isn’t a big name, but my gosh, it’s, It’s exactly who they needed outside of getting Kelly Clarkson, which probably wasn’t realistic. We talked about it back in May because she had just moved to New York for her TV show. Yeah. I think Carrie doing this is just, it’s a home run for ABC for this franchise to come back, obviously, if not the most successful, at least the second most successful winner they’ve ever had in the history of the show.

She’s so likable. Women love her. Men love her. Like you just, you didn’t go wrong there. Idle great, great hire. I can’t wait to watch Kelly Clarkson. I just said Kelly Clarkson, Steve, where’s your mind? I know I just said Kelly Clarkson’s name like a minute ago, but really screw that one up. I can’t wait to watch Carrie Underwood next season on American Idol.

Just killing it. Killing it. Love that. Love that hire. I didn’t, I didn’t think they’d go there or I didn’t think they’d be able to get just because. Mother, two kids. I think they’re both under 10, right? She lives in Nashville. It’s going to be a lot of time away from her family, but she’s going to be well compensated.

So I guess that makes sense. So look for that next season. Carrie Underwood, third judge on American idol podcast brought to you by mint mobile.
