Well that was definitely a surprise. Got an email yesterday afternoon saying they heard the Bachelor announcement was gonna be made after the show went off the air in EST and CST time zones. First I’d heard of it. And knowing that there was no live portion of last nights show (the Men Tell All tapes this Thursday), we certainly aren’t at finale night, and there were still four men left on Jenn’s season, just seemed like a weird time to make the announcement. Lets face it, when they’ve announced it in the past, it’s usually been on the ATFR which is just a week or two before filming actually begins. Maybe now this gives them more to cast women who actually want to be there for the Bachelor. Then again, this show has never been about finding the lead the 25-30 most perfect fits for them. Whatever the case, we have our new Bachelor in Grant and now they have 4-5 weeks to promote him since filming usually starts around Sept 19th-21st going off past seasons. So assuming they’re keeping the same filming schedule, just seems like this is a way to get people talking about him for longer and getting women to apply late, as evidenced by executive producer Robert Mills tweet last night.
This was Mills’ tweet last night in case you missed it:
We are announcing Grant so quickly so people can still apply to be on his season. If you think Grant is potentially the man of your dreams or you know someone who is apply ASAP!!! #TheBachelor

Again, lets not lose sight of the fact that they are casting a TV show. This doesn’t mean the only women allowed on Grant’s season are women who are compatible with him. And it doesn’t mean they announced him early because they no applications and they were desperate for women to come on. We just know this show casts the contestants before they cast the lead every season, and most seasons, the contestants don’t even know who the lead is when they’ve already been accepted to be on the show. Switching things up like this is actually a positive thing since it seemed pretty ridiculous to do it the way they did in the past.

Reader Emails again tomorrow. Any questions, queries, comments, or hot takes you may have send them to steve@realitysteve.com or hit me up on IG and get your questions in for tomorrow’s column. I’m sure you’ll have more to ask about regarding the Bachelor announcement.
In yesterday’s podcast I mentioned I had a meeting regarding next years Fan Appreciation Party. A lot of details to still iron out, but the date is set. It’s going to be on May 31, 2025 in Las Vegas. My 50th birthday. As you know, it’s always been the first Friday in June, but since my birthday next year falls on a Saturday, I figured why not also turn it into my 50th and move the party up a week. Still more details to come, but, doesn’t mean you can’t book your flight and/or hotel room now and get on the list. Plenty of room next year but it’s still a first come/first serve basis. So if you book a flight and email your itinerary, or book a hotel room and send me that, you’ll be on the list. Just know next years party will be the biggest one yet. Biggest venue, biggest crowd, 50th birthday, it will be a themed party for anyone that wants to dress up, AND there will be a live broadcast at the venue before we have the regular reception. Details will follow in the coming months once everything is finalized, but, you can get on the list now by confirming a flight itinerary, a hotel booking, or if you’re a Vegas local, just let me know how many in your party and be sure not to cancel.
Lets discuss the two major topics from last night starting on Page 2: Grant as the next Bachelor and Sam’s performance.
