The Kaitlyn/Tayshia drama is only about 3 days old now as the clips from Kaitlyn on the “U Up?” podcast were released this weekend, but safe to say, I’m already over it. Why? Because in a week, we’ll be done talking about it. Maybe less. And I think one reason is because Tayshia is not going to acknowledge this. The only way this story continues to have legs is if Kaitlyn keeps talking about it. She posted on her IG yesterday she’s back in Canada for the next week with family – seemingly to get away from all this heat she’s under and just take a break. Which is good. She needs it. And I hope while she’s away with family she just steers clear of social media. I don’t know if she has brand deals or stuff she has to post, but if she doesn’t, I’d just not post anything for a few days and re-evaluate things going forward. Tayshia has said anything about anything regarding this franchise in over a year, so even being called out by Kaitlyn in this interview I doubt she’ll respond to. It’s on brand for Kaitlyn, self-admittedly, be to messy and put her foot in her mouth. She admits that. It’s also on brand for Tayshia to not say anything about her private life in a public forum. So if she hasn’t said anything in years, I doubt this will bring her out of hibernation. So after today, unless there’s more interviews done about it, my thoughts today here in the column and on the podcast are the last you’ll hear me address about it. There’s more things to cover.

My livestream this past Sunday night was not related to anything Bachelorette/Golden Bachelorette, because with football season just around the corner, wanted to give a little Gambling 101 class and help people out who are interested in sports gambling. I know it can be intimidating walking into a casino, seeing all those lines and numbers on the board and not knowing essentially what you’re looking at. I think I did a decent job at explaining it. In case you missed it, check it out:

Don’t forget your “Reader Emails” tomorrow so get your questions/queries/comments in now by emailing me at steve@realitysteve.com. You can also hit me up on Twitter DM or IG as well. Tomorrow we have tonights Men Tell All to discuss, but I’m sure most of it will be about what Sam M says on stage. Lets hope he’s the slightest bit remorseful and doesn’t go on the defensive again.

The Kaitlyn/Tayshia story still dominating the headlines as everyone’s been talking about it the last couple days. In case you missed the main part of what everyone’s focusing on, here is the most important :90 seconds from her interview on the “U Up?” podcast:

I shared my most all my thoughts on yesterday’s and today’s Daily Roundup, but here’s the main thing people need to understand. Because my opinion is that I think Kaitlyn shouldn’t have said this on a podcast, does not mean I’m anti-Kaitlyn. It does not mean I’m Team Jason or Team Tayshia either. I don’t even know Jason, never interacted with him. And Tayshia hates me, so I really have no reason to come to her defense on anything. And I’m not here. Nor am I condemning her for anything. She’s basically distanced herself from all of Bachelor Nation for a couple years now as I said earlier. Hell, she’s had a boyfriend over a year now and still hasn’t hard launched him, which is pretty impressive in today’s day and age. So don’t make it about “hate” towards Kaitlyn or anything like that. My opinion is she just shouldn’t have said that on a podcast. Should’ve shown a little more discretion about what she chose to share about that part of her relationship with Zac. Period. That’s it. I’ve barely had any contact with Kaitlyn in my life. A few emails years ago and I saw her for about :30 seconds when she did a Spade and Sparrows appearance at a Target 5 minutes from my house a couple years ago. That’s it. It’s the biggest story in Bachelor Nation right now. I’m not going to unfollow her. I’m not going to call her names. I’m not going to cancel her. I’m just offering an opinion on what she said on the podcast, and I just thought it was a bad look and she probably regrets how it came off. I get she was trying to make a joke. It just wasn’t a good one and didn’t need to be told.

There were contradictions in the podcast as well. Kaitlyn has made it known she does not want to hard launch any boyfriend going forward. She even said in THAT podcast she felt like she and Jason were practically doing too much to appease their followers with their social media activity and they got carried away with it, which is why she doesn’t want to do that with anyone going forward. She’s been with Zac for a while now, has never posted with him, never mentioned him by name, and has stuck by what she preached a while ago. But then she came on this podcast and basically said things about her relationship she said she’d never do. Hence the reason I don’t understand why she said all this – and I’m not even talking about the dick sucking joke. Just relaying a private conversation she had with Tayshia didn’t seem necessary. Also, we know Kaitlyn struggles with the daily trolls on the internet and the hate she gets from them. She’s always told people to be nicer, be better, etc but then in this podcast, she’s talking about behavior in a joke that makes her come across as petty and mean. She has to know people will react. But there’s a difference between constructive criticism, which I feel like I’m giving here, and hate, which I’m sure she’s getting a ton of from online trolls. Lets knock all that off. If she bothers you that much, unfollow her. Don’t send her DM’s, don’t leave captions on her IG, etc. Just let it go. My advice to her would be get off social media for a few days while she’s with family. She’s not losing her brand because of this. She’s not getting cancelled. Maybe she loses a few followers, but she’ll be fine in the long run. She just needs to be more aware of things she says in a public forum, especially when it has anything to do with her relationships.
