some box office numbers for you I haven’t seen it yet But Moana 2 opened up over the five day Thanksgiving weekend and domestically it brought in 221 million dollars that is an absolute obliteration of the previous high From the five day holiday weekend, which was set by Hunger Games catching fire that drew a hundred and nine million It basically doubled and then some with Moana to overseas.
It got 165 million. So 386 million in five days. That is just unreal. Of course, right behind it wicked, which brought in a little over 140 million and it’s opening weekend two weekends ago, it brought in 117 million over the five day weekend. So it’s brought in 262 million in just two weekends. So obviously, and then.
Globally, it’s at 359 million. So these two movies are probably going to kill it through Christmas holiday, I would think, because I don’t know what’s coming out between now and Christmas, maybe something big is, and I’m just completely blanking on it. But this is, I mean, I’m just, I guess I’m surprised.
Maybe there haven’t been, maybe studios haven’t released a major movie over Thanksgiving weekend. You would think they would with five day weekend, but hunger games catching fire, I don’t even remember which one that was. Was that one, two, three? I don’t even remember whatever the case that was in 2013, five days.
It brought in 109 million and Moana two gets 221 million in five days. Yes. Price of inflation is. I’m sure it’s not 109 million is probably closer to nowadays 140 or 150, but still Moana 2 brought in double what Hunger Games did. So I guess I’d have to go back and be like, what were the biggest movies ever released during Thanksgiving weekend?
But I, I would think that knowing it’s a five day weekend, there’s probably one. Every other year that comes out, but I don’t know. Maybe they, maybe they do stay away from holiday weekends. I’m not sure. It seems like it would be a good weekend to release a movie, but man, Moana two with 221 million. I saw the first one really liked it.
I don’t really remember it. You hear that a lot for me nowadays, don’t you? I don’t really remember what I watched. Granted that was years ago. So, and I’ve only watched it once, so I’m definitely gonna go see Moana too. I want to obviously be a part of this cultural phenomenon like I am with wicked. And the more and more I spend time on Tik TOK, the more and more I’m finding out about wicked and I’m just kind of blown away by it and continue to say that, but if you haven’t seen it again, go see it.
I want to end this with an olive garden story and know this has nothing to do with me. You listen to this long enough. You know how much I love the olive garden. Well, apparently back on November 16th, somebody posted on their Tik Tok who had just visited all of garden on one of her breadsticks. There were the letters O and K etched in them along with the number six.
So it got 4 million views as of yesterday. And. The Olive Garden actually contacted this person because obviously it went viral with 4 million views. And they said to email them at social at olive garden. com. And then the Tik TOK user, I guess, contacted them and the company sent her. I believe it was a her.
Yeah. Woman dining at Olive Garden, sent her a hundred dollar gift certificate for her inconvenience of having a breadsticks with an O and a K and a six etched into one of them. Now. Other Tik Tokers have offered theories as to what this is. That someone said it’s from the plastic bag that they come in.
And when they sit in the freezer for a while, that can happen. What I’m going to say is this, I can tell you as much as I love the olive garden, as much as I talk about it, there are two things that have kind of gotten under my skin. And if you work at the olive garden and you’ve been there. Over four years, you can email me privately and give me the true answer.
I know the answer, but I’d love to hear it from somebody who works at the restaurant or maybe even works in corporate back in 2020 during COVID. Olive garden changed their breadsticks. They also changed their marinara sauce because every time I got any sort of pasta, I always got marinara. It’s not that I don’t like meat sauce.
I usually just get marinara and during COVID. I sat down one time and within two bites, I knew that they had changed their marinara sauce. I don’t know why they did it. Probably a cost cutting move because it happened during COVID. They also changed their breadsticks. 1000 percent their breadsticks are now different than they were four years ago.
So if somebody at the Olive Garden wants to confirm my suspicions, please let me know. You will be anonymous. All I will say is yes, somebody who works there has confirmed to me. Back in, you know, you have to, you have to have worked there before 2020 because that’s when it happened. And that’s when I immediately noticed it.
It hasn’t stopped me from going to Olive garden, but don’t think I don’t notice it because the breadsticks that you get now. Sometimes they literally seem like breadsticks you buy at the grocery store in a bag of 12, and then they just heat them up and put Parmesan and butter on them and serve you. And a lot of the time, my breadsticks now at Olive Garden, both ends are like hard, harder than the middle portion of the bread, it’s not like it’s crunchy, but they never used to be that way.
Every single breadstick you got was. Soft chewy. It made them, that’s what made them so good. As for the marinara sauce, I can’t tell you, I can’t describe to you how it’s different and how it definitely tastes different. All I know now is it does seem like the marinara sauce from Olive Garden is literally just out of a can that they heat up that you can get anywhere at the any aisle in the pasta aisle at a grocery store.
It just doesn’t have the same flavor that it used to. And I know they’ve changed it. I would love to get. Have my suspicions confirmed. So if anybody wants to do that for me, I’d appreciate it. Never had any breadsticks that had letters and numbers on them though. I can tell you that much. If I did, I would immediately contact the Olive Garden social media team and say, can I get a hundred dollars gift certificate?
