The Golden Globe nominees were announced yesterday and you know what I’ve been talking about for the last couple weeks and that is wicked promos.
And Wicked is up for Best Motion Picture for a Musical or Comedy. It is Cynthia Erivo is up for Best Actress. Ariana Grande up for Best Supporting Actress. Shocked that John Chu is not up for Best Director. That’s an absolute crime. Now, as I told you, when it comes to Golden Globes and then when we finally get the Oscar nominations, I will have seen absolutely none of the other movies.
Best Motion Picture Drama The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune Part 2, Nickel Boys, and September 5th. See none of them. No interest in watching any of them. Best Motion Picture for Musical or Comedy Onora, Challengers, Amelia Perez, A Real Pain, The Substance, and Wicked. The only one obviously I’ve seen is wicked.
I couldn’t tell you anybody, any of these performances that are up for best female actor in a motion picture or draw a motion picture drama or musical or comedy. I know that a lot of people are talking about let’s see female best performance by a female actor in a musical or comedy. Cynthia Riva is going up against Amy Adams in night bitch, Carla, Sophia Gascon and Amelia Perez, Mikey Madison and a Nora.
I mean, look, I’m sure there are some people that are going to be like, you know, the hottie toddy film noir snobs that are like, you don’t know how great Emilia Perez is. And the, just the, the juxtaposition. Save me with that shit. Cynthia Erivo should win for Wicked. Period. End of story. I also think Ariana Grande should win for Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role.
Apparently Selena Gomez was very good in Emilia Perez. And Margaret Qualley was great in The Substance. And Zoe Saldana great in Emilia Perez. Looks like Emilia Perez is probably going to do well. I just have a problem with it being a movie that’s watched by 18 people. That’s my issue. I wish we could go back to the days where the, the movies that were up for best picture and best actor and best actress and best supporting actor and best supporting actress were movies that we actually saw in the theaters and that were wide ranging releases.
And it’s just, it’s just lost its luster for me. Of course, I will tune in to see if Wicked wins for Best Musical, and Cynthia and Ariana win for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively. But, of course I’m going to be biased, because I’m not going to watch any of these other performances. I’m just going to stump for those three to win their categories, and I hope they do.
From what I’m reading, Cynthia’s got a chance. Ariana’s got a chance, but this Amelia Perez movie apparently is, you know, so good and all these performances. Yes. Oh God. So let’s give it to wicked. Brooks Nader did a exclusive interview with people. com yesterday in regards to the status of her relationship with Gleb and.
She says she’s basically enjoying her time with him, but they don’t want to put a label on it. She says it’s all real and the tiktok thing those little rebuttals and back and forth were all real because we were a little bit broken up Not that we’re like, there’s no defining what we are, but he sent me that text and he started this whole tick tock thing.
So I was just going back at him and it was just kind of funny and funny banner, but we weren’t speaking. We were just tick talking, which is hilarious. Not speaking, no spurt speaking terms. And then we rekindled. He’s such a great person and a great guy. And I’ve loved getting to know him and I’m having fun hanging out with him.
So she basically said like all that time, like we weren’t making anything up. He literally broke up with me over a text and that’s how I found out. So I just kind of went along with the game. She’s like, okay, you’re going to break up with me over a text. I’m going to post it and we’re going to have, I’m going to have fun at your expense because if you’re doing it on social media, I’ve always been very private about my relationships, but this guy was being public about it.
So I figured I would return the favor in public about it. Okay. I get it, but they’re not denying that they clearly are together. They’re just not labeling it. So just call it friends with benefits. Cause that’s what it is. Usually when two people are seeing each other as much as these two are and say, we’re having a great time together.
We just don’t want to label it. We kind of know what’s going on here. I don’t think these two are getting married any time soon. And finally, one final note on the Taylor Swift Eras Tour ending. I’m sure you saw this story. It was headlines on all the entertainment sites yesterday. Taylor Swift gave 197 million in bonuses to her Eras Tour performers and crew.
On top of the salaries, they already got $197 million in bonuses. Now if you shoot back at me, great, Steve, she made 2 billion on the tour. Well, that was just ticket sales. By the way. 2 billion in ticket sales for this tour is $1 billion more than any other music tour has ever made in the history of touring.
She made a billion dollars more than them. And I think the one that’s in second place is currently still going and that’s cold play. They started their tour in 2022 and it ends next year and they’re going to gross 1 billion. This is, and we’re just talking ticket sales. Taylor Swift grossed over 2 billion in just ticket sales for the heiress tour.
That’s not counting merch sales. That’s not counting anything else, just ticket sales. So she paid out on top of the salaries that everybody who worked on the tour got. 197, 000, 000 in bonuses. Truck drivers, caterers, instrument techs, merch team, lighting, sound, production staff, assistants, carpenters, dancers, band, security, choreographers, pyro, riggers, hair, makeup, wardrobe, physical therapists, and video team.
197, 000, 000 in bonuses. Now, you can say, Well, she should’ve. Look at how much money she made. If that’s your take on this, then you probably just hate her for no reason because she didn’t have to pay over almost 200 million in bonuses. She didn’t have to certainly not that much. I mean, I would expect someone with a tour this big to give people bonuses.
Sure. But 200 million, I mean, it’s a lot and bonuses be interesting to know what all these people got. If one of them ever speaks out one day and says, this is what I got. This is what she gave me. I mean, this is a tour that went a year and a half. It’s a lot of people that work on this tour. I just listed all the different departments that got bonuses.
And you just wonder how much did they make? I’m I’m curious because I don’t know the exact number of people. That, you know, truck drivers, caterers, instrument techs, merch team, all that stuff that I just named. I don’t know how many people that entails. I would think 500 or more. I mean, it got to be right.
It was just so many people, but I don’t know. I have, I have no idea, but almost 200 million in bonuses. I mean, that is. In August of last year, I remember covering the story in August of last year, when she had just ended the North American leg of the tour started in March ended in August, just the North American first portion of the North American tour, she had given out more than 55 million in bonuses.
So basically she gave out another. 145 million in bonuses since August of 2023. Just an unbelievable thing. I’ve read different accounts, 149 shows, 152 shows, 155, whatever. It’s right around that Taylor Swift touring confirmed to the New York times that 10 million, 168, 008 people attended the era’s tour, and it sold 2.
077 billion dollars in total tickets, which is double the gross ticket sales of any other concert in history. And second place is the Coldplay concert. That’s still going unbelievable hats off to Taylor Swift for that generosity. Anyway, thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it.
