James Kennedy has spoken out for the first time since his domestic violence arrest last week. He posted this on his Instagram story yesterday. I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth, and being present for my loved ones.
Navigating challenging moments is not easy, but I am determined to learn, grow, and move forward with the incredible support system around me. James, very simple statement, did not make excuses, did not even talk about anything regarding the case. We know what he’s talking about here. And just like I say with most quote unquote apologies, because that wasn’t even an apology.
He didn’t apologize to anybody. He just talked about what he plans on doing going forward. The problem is, and I don’t know this for a hundred percent fact, because I have not been involved in James Kennedy’s life before season 10 of Vanderpump rules, but I’m well aware of his problematic past. And I’m well aware that he has said stuff like this in the past.
So while it’s great that he acknowledged it, and of course we want someone. Who clearly has some sort of anger issues and has clearly put his hands on women in the past. We want them to learn from it. We want them to never do that again. But this guy has said this in the past and has not followed through with it.
So you take what he said on his Instagram story yesterday for just what it is. Words on an Instagram story, because right now. What he does after this is what matters most because if he gets in trouble again, or he gets in another argument or people see him arguing with his new girlfriend, or maybe he stays with Allie, who knows what’s going to happen with them.
If he doesn’t change, then these words mean nothing. Yes. I’m going to take time to focus on my sobriety. I don’t know if that means he did fall off the wagon. Seems like it might, but it’s no guarantee that he did because you could be still two years sober, like he is. And saying, I’m just continuing to focus on that doesn’t necessarily mean he fell off the wagon personal growth being present for my loved ones.
You know, I understand he couldn’t admit or apologize to Allie cause then he’d be admitting guilt and I, you know, the, the case is ongoing. Who knows what’s going on with it, but. You know, for someone like this, again, you just want them to be better and you want them to change. And he clearly seems to acknowledge that he’s got some issues he needs to work on.
And these words are fine for the time being, but they don’t really mean a whole hell of a lot if he just goes back to the same behavior, which he did after saying this in the past when he was with other women. So, I don’t know. I, it’s, it’s basically a time will tell thing when it comes to James Kennedy, because if he gets in trouble again, or he does something or his behavior is caught on video or on audio or something, what did this Instagram story really mean?
So, you hope he gets better. You hope he recognizes his faults. You hope He does what he has to do. Maybe see a therapist. I would think would probably be the number one thing he needs to do. I don’t know. We’re not in this guy’s head and we’d have no idea what his plans are. Seemingly he knows he’s got to do something.
Time will tell with this statement. There is somebody that I’ve never talked about on this podcast that has made quite a name for herself in the pop culture world, even the podcasting world. And her name is Bobby Althoff. Are you aware of who she is? Have you seen her clips on Tik TOK? Have you seen them on your search page on Instagram?
She has a very, very dry sense of humor yet. She just exploded onto the scene. Maybe a year ago, just interviewing some of the most famous people in the world. She had that interview where she got to sit in a bed with Drake and she just has a very dry sense of humor and she deadpans everything when she speaks to her guests, she.
Has this persona that she just doesn’t care about anything in the world and we’ll ask them anything. I’ve seen her interview, Drake, Mark Cuban, Shaq, comedians, all this stuff. Andrew Santino in the golf cart. Like I’ve seen so many clips of her, but I’ve never listened to one of her full podcasts. And I can say this, and this isn’t hating or anything like this for me.
Personally, it’s just not my cup of tea. I don’t get it. I don’t get the explosion that she had. I don’t understand why people found this so funny because she’s clearly just doing a bit. It’s not real, not saying bits. Can’t be funny because I think Jiminy Glick that Martin short does is hilarious. I’m like, yeah, he’s just playing a character.
That’s hilarious to me. I just don’t find Bobby Althoff the least bit funny. I don’t find these podcast interviews, the least bit funny. It just did nothing for me. Anyway, during her rise to fame, she became popular because she was basically a mommy TikToker who was raising two young kids. I think she has.
Two kids under two or something like that. And I guess her Tik TOKs were more about mommy stuff. And then she ended up starting this podcast and got super famous. She was getting all these guests. Everyone thought she was an industry plant. They’re like, where did this come from? How is she getting these guests when she’s literally just starting out a podcast?
Well, during her rise to fame, she ended up getting a divorce yesterday. She hard launched her new boyfriend, which. His name is Sean Bunting Murphy, and he is a cornerback defensive player for the Arizona Cardinals. And that’s kind of a big deal, I guess, because people thought she was dating Drake for a while after there, they thought it was more flirting than it was an interview.
And you know, who cares? I don’t really care who Bobby Althoff dates. She’s allowed to date whoever she wants, but it’s just news because she got famous really quick. And then once she got famous. All of a sudden she goes through a divorce and now she has her first public relationship post breakup. And it’s with an NFL player, Sean Bunting Murphy, or is it Murphy Bunting?
I think it might be Murphy Bunting. Sorry about that, Sean. Yeah, it’s Sean Murphy Bunting. Anyway, I just, for me, just never understood it with Bobby Althoff. I’d see the clips and I’d be like, this isn’t. I don’t know. I don’t find it funny at all. I just didn’t, but to each their own, if you do find it funny, that’s fine, but I’ve just never talked about her on this podcast.
I don’t believe, and when I saw that she hard launched a new boyfriend, I knew that would be news to a lot of people because she does have quite a following. And finally, I want to end with this. Every once in a while. I tell you, I have some just whacked out dreams. A lot have to do with like sometimes being on set.
Of the bachelor and I’m walking around with a notepad and I’ve told you about my four reoccurring dreams. We don’t need to go over those. The other night though, this was just so bizarre. It kind of indirectly has to do with the bachelor. And I don’t know where this came from because I have not watched this show since it last went off the air.
I certainly haven’t talked about, or even mentioned this person I had the dream about, or that was the main focus of the dream. Since she was on the podcast, I don’t know, five years ago. Anyway, we all remember the show unreal, which was a takeoff of the bachelor and constant Zimmer and Shiri Appleby were the two main stars and they were the executive producer and producer on a fake reality show or a dating type reality show, just like the bachelor.
And it just showed the inner workings. It was created by somebody who used to be a bachelor producer way back in the day for nine seasons, Sarah Shapiro, Gertrude. So it was very, very real. You talk to any bachelor contestants, they will say, Oh my gosh, that show is exactly how the bachelor is run. And it’s like, yeah, it made sense because the person who created it literally worked on the bachelor for nine seasons.
Anyway, my dream the other night was so bizarre in that I was getting calls. You know, remember I interviewed Sherry Appleby over five years ago on my podcast had to have been right. Cause unreal hasn’t been on the air for ever. I could be wrong. I never know when I interview people, it’s been, you know, this week’s episode with Leslie FEMA is episode number four 22.
I’ve been doing this for eight years now, so I just don’t remember when I had people on. I have this dream and in the dream, Sherry Applebee’s PR team is furious with me. And I’m like, what? And they basically said, because of Sherry Applebee coming on my podcast, Remember over five years ago, my dream was happening in real time.
They’re telling me that Shiri Appleby has never gotten another gig in Hollywood because of her podcast with me. And I’m trying to get answers as to why I go, what did she say? She didn’t even say anything bad on my podcast. All we did was talk about unreal. We literally promoted. I remember her coming on because it was pitched to me by the unreal people, because I was in collaboration with them.
I got paid to promote that show that year. I think it was season three. All she did was come on and talk about the show, but then again, it’s a dream. So we all know dreams just basically never have much of a plot to them. And they’re usually people out of left field that you haven’t thought about in years.
Yeah. So I have a dream where Shiri Applebee’s PR team is absolutely furious with me for a podcast episode I did with her five years ago. And they said, because of that podcast episode, Shiri hasn’t been able to get work in Hollywood since. And I’m just, I’m so confused. I’m really upset during my dream because I was like, well, I didn’t want to do this to her.
I liked her and unreal. I thought it was a great show. And then I think at the end of the dream, I’m almost positive. Shiri gets on the phone with me and just giving me a tongue lashing, calling me a fucking asshole. And I can’t believe you aired that podcast. Who are you? I should have never gone on with you.
And I’m like, Shiri, did you listen to our podcast? It wasn’t anything bad about it. All we did was talk about unreal and you being on it. No, no, no. You would throw lies in about me. You would talk about my personal. I’m like, it was just one of those dreams that completely went off the rails. And I just wanted to share that with you.
