Before we get to the conversation with Leslie, just filling in on what was on the daily roundup earlier today, we talked about that survivor finale last night, the challenge from last night.

Are Jen and Sasha official official. Us Weekly says they are officially dating, but still no word from Jen and Sasha, and if you read Us Weekly’s article, there was nothing in there other than Source told them Jen and Sasha are dating. Now, if you’ve listened to this podcast for the last two, three weeks, you’ve listened to some of the conversations I’ve had with some of my guests, You’ve heard me say like, look, if it eventually comes out that they do some sort of hard launch, nobody’s going to be surprised.

I mean, hasn’t made any sense that they would be in a platonic friendship because. Not saying people can’t be platonic friends, but for their situation, the fact that they got eliminated a long time ago and from the second they got eliminated from the show. They’ve literally spent every moment together.

She stays at his house. They go shopping on the weekends together. It just didn’t make sense that this was all being done platonically and I don’t think anybody believed it was platonically, which there’d be nothing wrong if it was platonic and there’d be nothing wrong if they wanted to date each other.

But the amount of posts that they made, the amount of the things that they said in their posts, it just seemed like they were dating, but still nobody. In either party, either Jen or Sasha has officially said we’re a couple and, but us weekly yesterday came out and said, Jen and Sasha are dating a source told them, but then the rest of the story has no proof of them confirming it.

It was just running down all the things that I literally just said, the times they’ve spent together, the things that Jen has said about sleeping on Sasha’s couch, the Tik TOKs they’ve made where she’s leaving his place in the morning. Like it just. This isn’t really major news. And I guess people aren’t, some people out there won’t truly believe it until they hard launch it themselves and actually say it, but I don’t know.

I don’t know what more proof you need anyway, but yeah. So that that’s discussed on the daily roundup also a correction from yesterday’s podcast. Do you know what the term ball sack is? In regards to social media, obviously, I’m sure you know what a ball sack is, but if you get ball sacked on social media, it’s basically believing a story that you read online.

Fortunately, I got ball sacked yesterday because the Bobby Althoff story of her hard launching with Sean Murphy bunting. Isn’t true. She definitely hard launched on her Tik TOK page. You see her with a man. She’s kissing him, but she purposely blurted out and people just assumed it was Sean Murphy bunting.

And he took to his either Twitter or Instagram yesterday and said, that’s not me. And there was another NFL player who also chimed in and said, that’s not me either. I think he was from the Bengals. So while she did seemingly hard launch somebody the other day, we don’t know who it is yet. So I guess we have to wait for Bobby to make the announcement.

I shouldn’t have ran with that until it was legitimate source. I can’t even remember who said it. There were a bunch of places saying it was Sean Murphy bunting of the Arizona Cardinals, but he came out and said, that’s not me. So. We don’t know who it is yet. I’m sure we’ll know sooner rather than later, or people will figure it out.

But I know moving on to today’s interview, I know you’ve seen Leslie and maybe heard her on other podcasts within the last week, she’s done a lot since her contract is now up, she came on the podcast. I can tell you there is one exclusive in today’s podcast, and that’s me telling Leslie how I knew.

She didn’t win. And Gary had chosen Teresa. Cause remember at the time when they got down to the final three, I said, by the way, final three, our faith, Leslie and Teresa, you didn’t even know their names at that point because ABC had not released the women’s name. So I said, Hey, it’s faith Evans, Teresa NIST.

And Leslie FEMA. And I said, faith was eliminated at final three. The final two are headed to wherever they filmed. I already forgot where they filmed their finale, but then I had nothing. Didn’t start airing till end of September, like a month later. And then I did not know who Gary chose until about, I think two or three weeks before the finale.

And I said, Gary is engaged to Teresa. He did not choose Leslie. Well, today on the podcast, I reveal how I found that out. No names are involved because. Names are kind of irrelevant. Doesn’t matter how I found out. All you want to know is who is the winner? Just like you’re waiting for grant season. And I’m trying to get that confirmed.

Have I heard things? Sure. But nothing I feel solid with that I can run with. So we’ll just have to wait. And I don’t know when I’m going to get it. I do reveal in an exclusive today to Leslie. So this is the first time I’ve ever spoken with her. I revealed to her how I found out and to you guys, the audience, you can hear that story, but such a good conversation with Leslie.

I really wanted to know more about her. Pre show because very, very active and very, very interesting woman, woman from her ice skating career to her aerobics career, to her dating life pre I’m talking about her teenage years. Like she was literally dating somebody very famous that we all know in her late teens.

And I just wanted to know more about that, how it all came about, stuff like that. Anyway that’s going to be coming up with Leslie FEMA. This podcast brought to you by Mint Mobile. Steve. All right, let’s get going. Podcast number four 22. Let’s bring her in. You saw her on Gary season of the golden bachelor as our runner up.

So glad we can get her on her podcast tour that she’s doing right now. Let’s bring her in. It is Leslie FEMA. Leslie, how are you?

Hi, I’m good. I’m good. It is a podcast.

What, what number is this? What number podcast is this? Five. My the fifth.

Out of all of them.

Yeah, I mean, how many have you done? I want to say four or five that I’ve seen, right?

20.

Oh, Jesus. I guess I was thinking of like the ones in like the only I know the almost famous.

Yeah, I mean, I’ve done a lot of other ones that are as, you know, mainstream, a few of my friends. But yeah, this is number 20.

Sweet. So I, I can honestly say that I obviously haven’t, I’ve seen clips of the ones from bachelor nation.

So there will probably be some repeat questions in here, but I don’t want to spend too much time on the show. And I do have an exclusive just for you that I have, that I have not said anywhere. I’ve never said on any of my podcasts, I never wrote about it during your season, but I do have an exclusive, which we’ll get to, and I wanted to save it for you.

Okay. I want to first start off by saying you had reached out to me in February of this year after your season had aired and you thanked me because I was one of only two people that apparently pronounced your name correctly. That’s true. And I didn’t even know I was doing it. I’ve just always looked at L E S L I E as Leslie, but I’ve heard a lot of people say Leslie.

Yeah,

most people say Leslie and it’s I mean, I’m used to it by now, but that’s not my name. So, yeah, I mean, I, I think it was you and Ben Higgins are the only people that pronounce her correctly.

Did Gary ever call you Leslie? Did he ever say it? Do you know?

Yeah, well, I told him. I told the show that, you know, I want to be called Leslie.

That’s my name. And, and they started out saying that and Gary started out saying that, but then he went, he reverted back to Leslie and I don’t know, and then sometimes he’d vacillate, I mean, I think if you like in your life, if you’ve known someone named Leslie and you know, so it’s automatically, that’s what they’re going to call me.

Yeah, but it’s okay, but I do thank you for that. I was like, oh my god, reality. Steve was the only one that called me by my real name.

Well, like I said, I’m glad I did but again I’m sure at some point in my life, somebody that I’ve known, I’ve called them Leslie, I’m sure I did, but

yeah, I mean, it’s, it is either, or I mean, actually, Leslie is actually the male pronunciation of the name.

So I’m told, but

yeah, maybe, yeah, I guess I never realized that either. And then look, the other Lesleys are never spelled with. No. No,

exactly. So

that’s why, yeah. So it’s crazy why people just automatically turn it into a, into a Z. So I kind of want to get with you and talk before we get into the show portion.

Just, I want to talk about your life pre show because. Man, when all this stuff started coming out about you pre show, I was like, wow, this is impressive that she’s a national aerobics champion. She’s a former professional figure skater, of course, dated Prince, like we’ll get into all that. So I guess first off, let’s talk about your professional skating career.

When did this start? When did you end it? Why did you end it? Tell me about your professional skating, professional, professional figure skating career.

Okay, well I started skating when I was eight. And I just skated my whole life. Took dance that was kind of went hand in hand with it. Skated, and then when I was in a sophomore, I went to my mom and I said, I need to stop skating because I need to experience, You know, I, I did, you know, I wasn’t going to be a cheerleader, I think, but I wanted to just experience it.

I was skating so much. I never went to camp. I, you know, there’s a lot of things I missed. So I was in all this school plays, you know, I loved, you know, dancing, acting, all that stuff. And then when I was a senior where it was, it was the ice follies. Now it’s actually Disney on ice, but it’s the same show.

When they come to your city, they have tryouts at, well, this is what they used to, I don’t know what they do now, but they had tryouts in your city, like after the show one night. So I was trying out and yeah. And then literally a week after I graduate high school, I went into the show and I was I skated professionally for three years and then I was engaged to get married.

I married kind of like my high school sweetheart. And at 21, I came out and I got married, but I was in the show for three years. So,

so that’s what ended it. You, you got married and you just didn’t want to skate in ice follies anymore. Got it. And then when did the whole aerobics thing and competing and winning championships, when did that start?

So Brad and I, my husband we started a business back then it was, they were aerobic studios, you know, popping up and, I really loved doing that. And I went to LA and took Jane Fonda’s class for about a week, like from Jane Fonda. And I basically just came home and emulated the thing that she was doing and opened up my own aerobics studio.

And then I hired, you know, dancers to teach. And one of my guys that I hired became one of my really good friends. And he’s, I remember him coming to me going, We should enter this aerobic competition. I’m like, what? You know, anyway, long story short, it was the national aerobic competition, which turned into a crystal light because they’re the sponsors national and we, we won the mixed pair division and went all over the world and taught other people and did commercials and everything.

So it was really cool.

Is that the one where you see people from the seventies and eighties on VHS tapes? Yeah, leotards and their socks up high and

that’s me

just kind of bopping around. We were the first

year, so sometimes I don’t go back to the very first year. We’re 1985. But yes, that’s exactly, that’s exactly the show.

Yes, that’s exactly the competition. That’s me. Wow. That’s yeah.

And how, and how long did that go on for?

Well, we won. So that took like, you know, a few months and we had to go to L. A. and it was a big thing. And then once we won, we did commercials and they took us like to Singapore and Korea and all over like teaching other people.

Yeah, it was really amazing experience. And so I think all in all, it was a couple of years. And yeah, I got to meet some really cool people. All in. Yeah.

But you kept active. You kept obviously. Oh yeah. Because then

I had my aerobics studio because I, I had that first and then I went back and I taught classes and did a whole bunch of stuff.

So yeah. Right.

Now you said, you said you started this with your now ex husband, would you, would you say?

Yeah. Why? I was married twice. Yes. Right. Okay. So yeah. So Brad and I started the studio together. And then. Yeah. We were getting divorced and it was like, you know, we kind of dissolved the business and I just went on to teach at other places, you know, other studios that were popping up all over the place.

But I was the 1st in Minneapolis or the 2nd, but

how long were you with him, Brad? How many years were

we together? 7 years. And we have one son, our son, Zach, who’s 38 and he has two kids. So

Zach is with him and the other two are with David.

Oh, you, you know, all your stuff, Steve.

We’ll get to that later.

So now probably the biggest thing that came out about you was mentioned on the show. And then people were like, Whoa, wait a second. Not only did she date Prince, he named the sexy dancer song is named after Leslie. I think a lot of people didn’t believe that or just like this woman’s full of shit. So tell us how that all came about.

I know that I have read it, but for people that didn’t read the story, I know you said it on a podcast before. I think it was on Ben’s podcast. Tell everybody the story of how you even got involved with Prince. Was this. was, this was just a fling. What, what happened? How did this all get started and how long did it last and how it ended?

Okay. Well, we were very young and my cousin, Bobby V was his drummer, but also his friend first. So he Introduce me to Prince when we were 17. And I don’t know, we just kind of started dating. We are young and we were, I’d say we were dating for about three years because when I went into dad’s follies he would, he was just starting to get bigger and he would like drive up and like, say, I was, At the forum, you know, we were doing a show at the forum in LA.

He drive up backstage on the on the platform and I get in the limo and all the girls were like, what’s going on? Yeah. So anyways, my cousin Bobby introduced us. He was in the revolution. He was in purple rain and all that. He’s a drummer. So Prince and Bobby came to watch me dance at a fashion show.

Many years ago, obviously, when we were young, and I danced, you know, I was dancing, and so Prince said, you’re a sexy dancer, I’m gonna write a song about you, and I’m like, and I’m like, okay, whatever, but you know, again, we were young, and he did. So people can dispute it, I don’t care, I mean, I’m not lying, you know, I wouldn’t lie about that and Bobby, my cousin thought it was so funny how people thought I was lying, but, you know, it’s, it was true.

And so you dated him your teen years, your, your last few teen years, 17 to 20 ish and then you left for ice folly.

Well, I was in the ice valleys. And so then one year when I came home for the Christmas break, the winter break I was at a party and I was supposed to meet Prince at midnight somewhere.

Because, you know, there were no cell phones back then at all. And so I was at a party at my cousin’s house, and Brad was there, and I had, I, we weren’t high school sweethearts, but we dated in high school, maybe for a minute, but then I re met him, say I’m like now 19, and I re met him at this party.

And he’s, he was just so cute, and I’m sitting there looking at my watch going, I have to leave, I have to go meet Prince, and then Brad’s talking to me, and I’m thinking to myself, Which is really, which is my future. I mean, this guy, Brad could be my future. Prince is probably not going to be my future.

So I had to make a decision and I stayed with Brad and I hate to say this, but I did stand Prince up because of course I couldn’t get ahold of him. I mean, we talked after that and you know, obviously he’s gone to many women after that and I didn’t really matter in his life, but it mattered to me because Brad and I got married and we had our.

And, you know, unfortunately it didn’t work out, but, you know, I knew that this could be my future. And, you know, when you’re 19, sometimes they don’t think that way, but I thought that way. So I, that’s what happened.

So when something like that happens, and like I said, you were at the very kind of the beginning of Prince as all of us know him, he starts taking off and now I’m just trying to think.

You know, he was everywhere in the mid eighties for me when I was growing up. So when he got big, was there ever, did he ever reach out to you again? Did you ever reach out to him in the eighties when he was a megastar?

We saw each other many times because, again, my cousin was his drummer. I mean, I was, I was in the movie Purple Rain as an extra with my cousin Vicky.

I mean, we’d go to Paisley Park all the time for his private concerts. No, we saw each other and Brad and Bobby were really good friends. I mean, everybody in Minneapolis has a Prince story. Everybody has, yeah. So, no, we were fine. And again, believe me, I, you know, he went on too many women. It didn’t matter.

But yeah, so no, we were good. We were fine.

Were you ever in contact with him closer to his untimely death? Or was you years removed from him?

No, I, I, yeah, I was, I mean, my cousin Bobby was definitely, and they were very close up until the end. But he, you know, he, he, even though he lived in Minneapolis and really always did, he was spending more time in LA and, you know, had a house out there.

Tell us listeners and viewers, because for a guy who is as famous as Prince was. I don’t think I mean granted there was no social media back then.

Yeah,

but there is I mean of all the stars I can remember in the 80s madonna cindy lauper

Madonna came to take my class by the way.

Oh, she did.

Yes, because my friend was her choreographer and and she brought her to my class, but that’s another story, but that was like the highlight of my life

Well,

I

mean I feel like even though there was no social media, we knew more about their lives.

I know

Prince was literally one of the most private superstars ever in music history. What’s one thing or a couple of things that you could tell us listeners about him that I guess people would be surprised about, or people would just be like, really? Whoa. Wouldn’t have guessed that.

Yeah. I’m he hysterical.

He’s really funny.

Amazing sense of humor. I mean. Really funny.

He’s because he just never did a lot of

no, he didn’t really talk a lot But once he knew you I mean and again my cousin Bobby can attest to this because they were very close But even with me when we were younger, he was funny. I mean he He made he he just was very sharp.

He was also a very Very good artist. So when he used to write me letters when I was in the show, he used to like have artwork on them and They they were beautiful. So, yeah,

do you still have them?

It’s a long story. No

Oh, really? Did they have like all did they have like I can just imagine prince writing a love letter To a girl that he likes and putting a bunch of symbols on it and stuff even even the prince symbol

Yeah, it was quite amazing and the letters were quite amazing because when I, when I got them and I was in the ice valleys, all my friends, we sit around, we get our wine and I’d read them to everybody and they were like, cause they were steamy.

They were steamy. So, yeah. I mean, you don’t, and you don’t have it. It’s a sad story. They were. I moved to LA to when I met David, my second husband, and they were in the trunk of my car and my car got repossessed. And somebody wasn’t paying the car payment. Like I thought anyways. Yeah, the letters were in the trunk.

Now, when I went to go get all the stuff out of the car, it’s funny how everything else was there except those letters. I mean, all my CDs, all the crap that was in my car, except the letters, they were like in a garbage bag and maybe somebody threw them out. I don’t know.

So are we thinking that there was a little jealousy on David’s part?

Is that my

God that

he was a little bothered by what

I’ve asked him many times and he says he never saw the letter. So, I’m going to trust my ex husband, the father of my children and the grandfather of my grandson. So, we’ll just leave it at that.

All right. And how and how long were you married to David?

We were married 7 years. Seven years seems to be my, I

don’t know. That was one of Prince’s big songs, was Seven. Do you remember that song Seven by Prince? Yeah, yes I

do. Anyway. you wrote that about me.

Alright. So, That’s your pre Leslie FEMA life.

Yes.

Yeah, obviously. Well, that’s pretty, I mean, that’s your teen years.

And then obviously here you are in your early sixties going on golden bachelor, you obviously did a lot of stuff then, but when the golden bachelor first was brought up to the forefront, this was like pre COVID that they were talking about this. And then it got shelved because of COVID. And now everyone thought.

This thing was going away. Were you in talks pre COVID? No, I

did. I did apply pre COVID. Then when it, when I saw it again, I thought, well, they probably threw out all those applications. So I’m going to apply again. So that’s what happened really.

So you did, it wasn’t like, Oh, your, your kids are going to nominate you like, mom, go do this.

It was you. I

wanted them to, I asked them to, because I thought it was weird. The first time I just did it myself. I’m like, I don’t know. I mean, whatever. Second time I’m like, You guys nominate me. This still stupid for me to do it myself, but they weren’t fast enough. So I did it.

And then house, do you remember how soon after you get a call or an email back from somebody?

Yeah, like two days or three days I got a phone call.

And then that turned into zoom interviews and then flying you out to LA.

No, no flying. There was no flying. They did everything.

And you obviously did not know. Yeah. And then you obviously didn’t know. Or I’ll ask you when did you find out who the golden bachelor was?

Like after they told us, after they told us that we were going to be on, they had like a reveal on Good Morning America, and that was maybe 10 days before we were leaving, and so that’s when I found out.

So everybody found out at the same time.

Yeah.

At the same time. Okay. So I don’t want to sit here and go through your whole season because I’m sure everybody else has done that. I just want to, I just kind of want to skip to the end here because I know you’ve talked about this and it’s been well documented that in your conversation in the night before you were pretty much convinced that you were being picked and then for whatever reason, something happened.

You don’t necessarily know for sure. Maybe you do. I don’t know, but You don’t know. And you were pretty much blindsided when this happened. So I guess, and we all know what happened, he chooses, you know, he ends up choosing Teresa. I guess my question to you is, how long were you bothered by what happened?

Because clearly you couldn’t I mean, you had that conversation once he, he did let you go and you were pretty stern with him. But after like you left the location when you get back home Did you get over it pretty quick or did this bother you and once the show starts? It starts bringing up memories and it was even bothering you during the show Like how long did this really sit with you that man what the hell happened here?

Yeah, let me think Okay, so I got home say august 30th. His show started airing september Like a month later by the time the show was airing, I was fine. I mean, it’s hard to watch back obviously. And then, and then having to go in November to the finale I was over it. I was just, it was I w I was, I won’t say I was upset with Gary.

I just, I thought he kind of did me wrong and, you know, it was a little hard to obviously see him at the finale and I wasn’t mad at Teresa. I was, I was more upset with Gary, but I was over it. I mean, I didn’t, I wasn’t like, oh my God, the pain that I did feel for I’d say a good two weeks after when I got home.

It dissipated.

Did he, I can’t remember what you said to him on the, after the final rose, but whatever he said. I’m guessing that didn’t really give you the answers that you wanted. Seemed to, I mean, if I remember it was pretty generic, right? His answer.

Yeah, it was generic. And, you know, I mean, I think what happened was, you know, I thought a lot about what I wanted to say a couple of days prior, even more than that, obviously.

But I have, I have, you know, I wrote things down and I kind of just remembered certain things I wanted to say. But, you know, when he says, you know, something about me forgiving him, I didn’t really forgive him. I understood his apology. I should have said, I accept your apology. I don’t really forgive you if that makes sense.

I mean, you know, you kind of like, you know, just don’t, you shouldn’t have said to me the things you said. You shouldn’t have said I was the one. That’s all. Because I, you know, no girl wants that. And I have been through a lot of crap in my life with guys. And, you know, I was like, that’s the last thing I needed, you know, in front of everybody on national TV, obviously.

So, you know, I, then at his wedding, cause I went to the wedding, I, I did say, you know what, Gary, I, I love Teresa and you guys make a lot of sense. And I I do forgive you. And he was very thankful and kind of started tearing up and because at that point I was,

do you have any idea how he goes from telling you you’re the one to ending things?

Is there anything in your mind that makes you think, I think this is why he did like, not saying, you know, the answer, but what you think, why it might’ve changed. I

don’t know. I mean, you know, Teresa and I have actually talked about it before. It’s, it’s, I think, I mean, if I was in his shoes. I probably just wouldn’t have said, I know I wouldn’t have said, I love you to anyone until the last person at the end.

So that was probably his first mistake. But, you know, I guess maybe Teresa’s date was after mine and maybe he just realized that they were a better fit. You know, when you’re in between two people like that, you know, I bring one thing to the table and she brings another. And maybe it was like my decision, you know, a long time ago with Prince and Brad, I’m like, well, Brad is my future princess, you know what I mean?

So I, I can understand it. I just wish he wouldn’t have.

Said what he did.

Yeah. You don’t need to say, you don’t

need to say that because clearly you’re, you’re really putting yourself up against a wall there because then if you don’t follow through, then you become a liar. Like, why did you say that?

Right.

Exactly. And you know, I mean, I’ve watched the show enough where if I was in his place, I would have done things differently, but you know, you get caught up and you know, I, you know, I do forgive him. I just. I just wish he wouldn’t have done that because I’m sure he hurt Faith’s feelings, too, by saying I love you to her.

So, you know.

In your talks with Teresa, I don’t know. It was when the finale aired. Was that the first time Teresa knew that he had said that to you or had conversations gotten back to her? Did he tell her like during the time the show was airing when they were obviously seeing each other and talking like how in speaking with Teresa, now you guys obviously are friends.

You make funny Tik TOKs together. What what was her feeling about it? Was she bothered by the fact that he. Said that to you and then essentially chose her because then she’s got to be thinking like

well How do I know how much

you like me if you just said this to her?

I think that he must have talked to her about it a little bit before because she Wrote me a really nice text message when she got home saying I had no idea and I I was like I didn’t really know what she’s talking about because obviously I wasn’t privy to their type of conversations But I think Maybe he must’ve said, you know, this out, why, because you don’t want to blindside someone else by all of a sudden seeing it, you know, on, you know, while it’s being aired, that would be really hard.

So, but I, you know, yeah, no, she didn’t, she had no idea. I think she didn’t realize how much and how he felt for me at one point, you know,

this is kind of a side tangent only because you just brought it up since your show aired. Yeah. The golden bachelor women are like a major part of the franchise now, like they are included in everything.

They’re in commercials. Susan and Kathy have a

podcast

and Sandra is, you know, Sandra shows up at the tell all shows and like I said, Susan and Kathy, Susan’s on another reality show, even though it hasn’t officially been announced, that’ll be coming out next year. I think what’s interesting is you mentioned.

Faith and I was like, oh, that’s right that woman finished third That woman seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth, too What happened? Do you guys keep in touch with her? Do people keep up with her privately? Do you know what happened to her? Do you know why she has she just personally wanted to distance herself from the franchise or is she just?

Doesn’t want to do anything with it.
