Some final thoughts on the Survivor finale with Rachel Lamont winning. I read the exit interviews of Rachel, Sam, Tini, and Sue. The thing that resonated with me the most out of those four interviews was Sam feeling the same way I did, which was, man, I can’t believe I only got one vote.
He is very surprised. These are on EW. com with Dalton Ross. Sam is very surprised that he only got one vote. He is surprised that Sierra didn’t give him her vote. He is also surprised that. He didn’t possibly get one for Andy from Andy or Genevieve, which was interesting because going into the finale, Dalton asked Rachel, who did you think you were secure with, with votes?
And he, she’s like, I’m pretty, I was pretty sure I had Genevieve’s and I was pretty sure I had, Oh God, she said one of the person I forgot, but she said as final tribal was going on, she agreed with the rest of America. That Sam absolutely killed it in that final tribal and was giving a very compelling case.
And she’s like, I thought I had things going really well for me and I figured I had one, but once Sam started giving his answers and laying stuff out. She goes, he was present presenting a really compelling case. And I didn’t know if it was swaying them going in. I had a feeling I was going to win, but you don’t know if the judges are going to be swayed.
And then the way he won the fire making challenge was kind of, The way his season went for him, just kind of this underdog who just kept surviving and he was well behind teeny in the fire making challenge. And all of a sudden he ends up winning. She goes, man, that was just fitting for his story this year.
And I didn’t know if that was going to sway jurors. And ultimately it didn’t, she won seven to one. So all the. Video we saw of the jurors really scratching their heads before they wrote on the parchment. I think that it was a lot of acting I don’t think that they were that torn because only one person voted for him I if they were that torn I would think he would have gotten at least two or three votes, but he only got one So I can’t imagine they were that torn.
One thing about Rachel, if you didn’t know this, Dalton Ross, who usually gets to go out, it’s not every season he gets to go out and meet the cast and interview them before filming even starts, but he does get, I think it’s like every other season he gets to go out there and do it. Rachel was set to be on season 46.
Well, I shouldn’t say she was set to be on season 46. She was an alternate. On last season, so she goes out there and she basically just has to wait if something falls through with somebody out there. They don’t pass a test. They get sick. She was an alternate for season 46 and. Look at her ends up getting called back for 47.
Not only makes it on, but ends up winning the whole thing. I mean, it’s a really cool story. She played a great game. We’re going to talk to Stephen fish back on next week’s weekly podcast. Number four 23. We’ll get all of his thoughts. I’ve purposely stayed away. From anything that he has said regarding the finale.
Cause I want to hear it for the first time. When I talked to him, I’m sure if you guys listen to the know it alls or you follow Steven on social media, you probably have an idea of what he’s thought about this season. I always like hearing it for the first time. So I purposely try and stay away. So look for that.
That’s going to be next Thursday’s podcast. I’m recording it Monday. With Steven. So we can, I can enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas day, even though there will be podcasts out daily roundup will coming, we’ll be coming out. Those will probably be shorter just because not a whole lot going on during Christmas time.
But yeah, we will be having podcasts once again, all next week. So that doesn’t change, but I’ll be recording with Steven on Monday and that’ll be released on Thursday, December 26th. You know, I was going to talk about this Spencer Pratt and low Bosworth beef. And then I looked more into the story. I’m like, this is so dumb.
Maybe I’ll get around to it next week when I need some stories to kill time. But I don’t know. I just, it’s really kind of dumb. I did want to end with this though. I didn’t watch two seconds of the masked singer this season. I’m hit and miss with that show. Sometimes I’ll tune it on and I’ll watch it from the beginning and I’ll watch every episode.
Never live. I always have it recorded on my DVR, but I’m always interested. If I don’t watch a season, once it does air its finale, I’ll go to the entertainment sites who report, Hey, so and so won the mass singer this year. So I’ll always go read who wins. So I read that boys to men won the mass singer this year.
Well, of course they did. I like, again, I didn’t watch it. I got to imagine there wasn’t a single person watching that show that didn’t know those three guys. And usually, and this was the first time I did read this in the story. This is the first time a group or more than one person won the mass singer.
But those three guys are so iconic and their voices are so distinguishable. I got to imagine all season long, the judges knew who that was, right. Or at least at the finale, maybe after the first performance, you could be like, huh? The fact that it was the three. People dressed as Buffaloes. I don’t even know what the symbolism for Buffaloes was for them, but man, I would have wished I would have watched this season because I would have pegged them in the first episode I saw them in.
There’s no way I wouldn’t have known boys to men. I wore out their CDs when I was in high school. And if you don’t think that some of their songs were on mix CDs that I made for girls that I was dating in high school, you would have another thing coming. Of course they were on my mix CDs. Boys to men were the shit in the early nineties.
I mean, they were the cat’s pajamas. They were, Oh, is it the cats, the cats, meow cats, pajamas, whatever you want to call it, but I’m really dating myself here. That’s why I’m going to be 50 next year. I’m still using phrases like the cat’s pajamas. They were awesome in the early nineties. And I can’t believe, I don’t want to say I can’t believe they were on mass singer, but aren’t they a little overqualified for that show?
I understand that the mass singer has gotten some really good singers on that show. Some really good singers have won that show. Some really good singers have finished second and third, but because they’re a three person group. And because they have such a distinct sound to them, got to believe people had them pegged way early on and there was no way that they weren’t going to win.
