A couple of little short items before we go, since it is Christmas Eve. And I said at the beginning of this, I have a confession to make in regards to this holiday, which is Christmas.
I will be the very first to admit I am absolutely horrible at wrapping gifts. I’m, I’m, I’m so bad. I’m terrible, terrible to the point where my family will laugh at me when they unwrap their gifts, because yeah, I’m not sitting here and measuring stuff with rulers and making sure every edge is perfect.
I’m just not like that back in the day when I actually used to go shopping for Christmas gifts. Now I just get everything on Amazon and have it delivered to me at my door and I just wrap those boxes. But when I used to go to the mall and just be like, all right, today, I’m spending all day shopping and I’m buying all the gifts for everybody.
You should do it all in one day. But what I also used to do is all the gifts that I bought that day, I would take it into Barnes and Noble because every Christmas time at Barnes and Noble, there was always some charity group that would do courtesy wrapping. If you would just tip them and I would bring in all my gifts.
I would bring in like however many I bought 10, 15, however many I happened to buy that particular year. And I would have them wrap it and I would just pay them. I would just tip them to wrap the gifts. I’d usually give them a, if I had 10 gifts, I’d give them 20 bucks and I’d drop it in their little bucket.
Then I started, then I started getting turned away by the actual store. Because the people wrapping wanted to get as many donations as they could. They wanted as much money as they could. Right. But Barnes and Noble would say, no, they’re not allowed to wrap anything that you bought outside of Barnes and Noble.
I don’t just, I was like, that’s, that’s only hurting them. Why don’t you let them wrap all my gifts? Now, granted, there were people at Barnes and Noble that bought a book and had one thing to wrap. And here’s me with 15 gifts and six bags on my arm saying, here, can you wrap my whole Christmas? Can you wrap my whole Christmas list for people?
Okay. I get it to a certain extent, but those people that were like part of the, you know, the local girl scout troop or a dog shelter, it was always someone like that. That was had had parked themselves inside Barnes and Noble and wrap gifts for courtesy wrapping. They were taking donations and I’d be like, great, here’s 10 things for you to wrap.
And here’s a 20 can’t do that anymore. Cause number one, I don’t go to the mall and shop cause I don’t want to deal with people. And number two, I just have, like I said, I buy everything on Amazon. He has delivered to my front door, but man, that was certainly fun to do. So now I have to wrap myself and sorry, mom.
Sorry, Olivia. Sorry, Nicholas, my family, everyone I bought gifts for this year. I wrapped them today and they were fucking terrible. It’s awful. Like the main part of the box looks great. It’s those sides where you have to like bend and fold. Yeah. I’m not taking the time to measure that shit out. It’s just whatever I cut, whatever it fits now.
Don’t don’t think that I’m giving them a box that you can actually see the box. No, the whole, the whole box is covered in wrap, but it’s probably, I do way more than I should, and it’s just all just a bundled mess. It’s not great. I’ll be the first to admit, I suck. I suck at rapping. And finally, I just want to say this.
I noticed this when I was watching the college football games this past weekend. This isn’t really a sports take. This is more of a Taylor Swift take. It has to do with sports because Taylor is obviously involved in Travis Kelsey’s career, she goes to the home games, she was at the game this past weekend when the Kansas City Chiefs played, you know, whoever they played.
I already forgot who they played. Houston. Yeah, they played Houston on Saturday. She won’t be at Thursday’s a Wednesday’s game because it’s in Pittsburgh. She hasn’t gone to any of the road games this year, which I didn’t realize until you people. Reminded me of it, but when I was watching the college football games this week And I was watching texas and clemson and remember the whole thing last year I haven’t heard as much people complaining this year It was all last year of you know, these toxic men that are like get taylor swift off my screen Who cares why do you need to show her in a suite and people were actually breaking down the time Cameras were spent on her during a Kansas city chief game.
And it was literally like 49 seconds and guys are getting all bent out of shape because they show Taylor in the suite. How about this? How about the fact that every time the university of Texas plays a football game, how much time is spent showing Matthew McConaughey on the sidelines? Now, Matthew McConaughey is just an alumni.
I believe he actually teaches. Now at UT Austin, how is that any more relevant than Taylor Swift being the girlfriend of one of the players on the team? Great. He went to UTA and was a graduate. How many times do they show Matthew McConaughey on the sidelines during a Texas football game? I can tell you this.
It’s way more than they show Taylor Swift, and I haven’t ever heard one person complain that Matthew McConaughey is constantly being shown on the sidelines, cheering, dapping guys up after they come off the field, after they score a touchdown, talking to whoever on the sideline, they just show him for no reason.
Okay, if you want to complain about Taylor Swift, then complain about Matthew McConaughey too. Because there’s really, if you say there’s no reason to show Taylor Swift, there’s no reason to show Matthew McConaughey. Why are they showing him? Because he’s a famous alumni. That’s the only reason they’re showing him.
He has nothing to do with the actual football team. Has he spoken to the team, and given any information? Yes, but that doesn’t mean you have to show him. Every football team in college football has probably gotten a pep talk from somebody, and none of them are shown during the football game. So, I just want people to keep that energy.
The people that still get bothered by Taylor Swift getting shown for three seconds during a Chiefs game. It’s fine. It’s okay. The game will go on. The game is not about her. They’re just showing her a few times a game for three to five seconds. It’s not a big deal. They spend way more time showing and talking about Matthew McConaughey on Texas games than they do Taylor Swift on Kansas City Chiefs games.
That’s a fact. Anyway, thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcasts. Also, rate and review, but you gotta hit play.
