Daily Roundup 12/25 – Another Co-Star Coming To Blake Lively’s Defense, Justin Baldoni’s Crisis PR Team Speaks Out, & I Answer Some Of Your “Reader Emails”

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve Podcast. I am your host, Reality Steve. Thank you for tuning in on this Christmas day. If you celebrate, Merry Christmas to everybody. If you don’t, Happy Holidays to everyone else out there. Not a ton of stuff to go over today. So we have one story and then I’m going to read a couple of reader emails that I got with some questions in it.

We’ll go over that. We’ll get to all that momentarily. So, one update in the Blake Lively Justin Baldoni case. Yesterday, I read you what Brandon Skliener, who played Atlas Corrigan in the movie, supported Blake by posting on his Instagram story a screenshot Of the 80 page complaint that Blake filed had a link to it that said for the love of God read this Well another co star of Blake’s has spoken out in defense of her and that is Jenny Slate I mentioned Jenny’s name yesterday because I said hey The other two biggest names in the movie are Jenny Slate and Hasan Minhaj.

And Jenny Slate played Ryle, Justin Baldoni’s sister, in the movie. Jenny Slate said, as she released a statement, saying, As Blake Lively’s castmate and friend, I voiced my support as she takes action against those reported to have planned and carried out an attack on her reputation. Blake is a leader, loyal friend, and a trusted source of emotional support for me.

And so many who know and love her. What has been revealed about the attack on Blake is terribly dark, disturbing, and wholly threatening. I commend my friend. I admire her bravery and I stand by her side. So it’s another feather in the cap for Blake that nobody from the cast or crew or production has come to Justin’s defense.

Not very good for him. Now, his publicist, Jennifer Abel, posted on Facebook yesterday to defend their actions. And they basically said, Hey, we didn’t have to do anything. Her actions in past interviews speak for themselves. Which, again, I get what they’re trying to do here. They’re his PR team. And I think the whole PR part about this is just going to be a lot of back and forth because Justin’s team is going to say, Hey, her PR team is trying to make Justin look bad.

And Blake’s team is obviously saying no, he had a whole PR smear campaign. That’s why he hired these people, but they actually have proof. Justin’s side doesn’t have proof and they haven’t defended their text messages and emails just yet. So I think there will be people on both sides on the PR thing. And maybe you can even make a case like, well, Blake’s trying to ruin Justin.

Okay. But Justin’s behavior on set is what’s at play here. She’s not trying to ruin anything. All she’s doing is talking about what she went through on set. So I guess it comes down to this. If you want to say the PR stuff is just too hard to distinguish who’s telling the truth, that’s fine. You can almost eliminate that from this whole complaint.

Read the complaint and just read about his behavior on set. Don’t even worry about, well, who planted this? And was there a smear campaign? Personally, I think there was, but even if you take that out of the equation, this guy has to answer to her accusations of how he acted on set. And you’ve already got co stars now coming forward, defending Blake, meaning they were aware of it too.

If they were on Justin’s side, they would speak out against Blake, or they would at least say nothing. They are specifically coming to Blake’s side saying now they haven’t talked about specifics. They haven’t talked about the things that she said in her complaint. And they haven’t said, Oh yeah, I saw that.

I witnessed it. But this is long from over. We know this. This is going to go on for a while now. More stuff is going to get out. There is going to be stories about this probably daily if not weekly for the next few months. Because that’s all anybody is going to be digging. Especially through the end of the year.

Like, there’s a new story on Us Weekly. Hell, there’s two to three new stories on Us Weekly and People. com and EW. com every single day about this. You’re not going to be able to get enough of this story. And it’s only going to get more salacious. Obviously, we’ve heard Blake speak out, not just by her complaint, but she did release a statement.

The next person that everyone’s going to want to hear from is Justin Baldoni. And he’s going to have to answer to what about these accusations? He’s going to have to answer to why did you agree to these parameters that she had set up to return to filming? If you didn’t believe you did anything wrong, you know, you know, look, this could go so many ways, either Justin Baldoni is going to own up to his behavior or he’s going complete scorched earth.

And it’s just going to attack Blake, which I don’t think will play well for him. Sure. In a small niche audience who are women hating women, and they just don’t want to like Blake Lively. I’m sure that it will appeal to them, but I think if I’m him, I don’t know how legally he handles it in terms of, does he admit he did all this stuff, but.

I think he needs to come out and actually say something at some point, but maybe he can’t legally. I don’t, I don’t know since there’s a complaint against, you know, he’s being sued for sexual harassment. Maybe he’s not going to do a sit down interview or pen some sort of op ed, but that’s what people want to hear from is Justin Baldoni because Blake’s getting all the support right now.

And when nobody from the set is supporting you now and speaking out on Justin’s behalf, Not to mention what was going on back in August. And we were all like, this is so weird. He’s not appearing with anybody from the movie during a premiere week and red carpet stuff. And the main players in the movie have all unfollowed him on social media.

It’s like something is up and now we have our answer to what is up. That’s really the only story to go over in the entertainment news on this Christmas day. I don’t plan on making this a 25 minute podcast, but there’s two emails I want to get to first one said, Hey, Steve, did you see the Joe Schmoe show is making a comeback this time and as a reality competition show, everyone in it knows it’s a prank, except one person.

They make him do some ridiculous stuff. Cat Deely from, so you think he can dance as the host it’s on TBS and it starts January 21st. You know, Last year when I had Ingrid Wiese on, who is the, who was on the first, or excuse me, season two of the Joe Schmoe show, the one where it was just loaded with sexual innuendos and they made it a bachelor type show.

When I had Ingrid on was right around the time that last year, I want to say last March or April, they were running commercials on TBS for the Joe Schmoe show, but it said coming soon. And then it just kind of disappeared. I hadn’t heard anything about it in like a year. Well, yes, we have our answer now.

It is going to air on TBS on January 21st. I absolutely 100 percent will be watching it. I can’t tell you enough how great this show was, especially back when it came out at the advent of reality TV. If you really want to have a good laugh, just go on YouTube and Google Joe Schmoe show season two. Season one was good.

That like set the, laid the foundation for these prank type shows, but season two, if you’re a bachelor. Or bachelorette fan. You’ll like season two of the Joe Schmo show better just because it’s a takeoff of bachelor and bachelorette where they fool two people to think they’re on a dating show. Everyone else is in on it.

And just the sexual innuendos were pretty funny. So go, go check that out as I have the hiccups. Great.
