You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve podcast. I’m your host, Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Monday. A very Bachelor Bachelorette focused Monday podcast. And that’s because we got some late breaking news on the Friday dump. Oh yeah, by the way, no bachelorette this season.
We will discuss all of that. Gen trans X Matt Rossi says, yeah, I didn’t pay for that trip to go see her in wherever it was, New Zealand. And also Mike Fleiss’s tweets from a couple weeks ago that I brought up at the time. They may hold a little more weight now. We’ll get to all that momentarily. Usually when news breaks on Friday afternoon, that means someone is trying to hide something and trying not to put a lot of attention on it because most news desks have left for the weekend on Friday.
So there’s not a lot of people covering it. So while it was bizarre that this news even came down, even more bizarre that it came down on Friday night, Anyway, I’m sure you’ve heard by now, ABC announced that there will be no new season of The Bachelorette. Now, because this show has a horrible time ever dealing with transparency, we don’t necessarily know what that means.
What we do know is this. On a normal shooting schedule, the Bachelorette will start filming right when the Bachelorette season stops airing. Grant season, even though we don’t know the episodes mapped out through the end of the year, or through the end of this season, we know it’s going to finish around the second or third week of March.
And usually the end of that week is when the Bachelorette would start filming. What we do know is, That’s not happening now. They have announced that there will be no new season of the bachelorette this summer. While it airs, typically, um, the bachelorette usually airs in the summer. ABC says they’re not going to follow that pattern and they have not said when it is returning.
They have said it’s not canceled. The reason we don’t know yet, we’ll get into those in a little bit, but what we do know is we’ve always known. And it’s amazing because I got so many messages sent to me. Why did this happen? Does this mean they’re bringing back Bachelor in Paradise? It’s like, you know, I guess a lot of people don’t pay attention to the news or they can’t listen every day But we’ve known Bachelor in Paradise is coming back this summer since last year.
I mean they announced it I think last September we knew it was returning this summer So from everything that I’ve heard and what’s funny is on Friday afternoon About, I don’t know, six or eight hours before this news broke, I was told that people were hearing Bachelor in Paradise was going to be filmed in May.
And I’m like, well, that’s kind of weird because The Bachelorette is filmed in May or is still filming in May. Picks up, starts filming in March. And usually goes through about the first week or week and a half of May. So why would you film Bachelor in Paradise so close? And I was just like, maybe they just misheard.
Maybe it’s not, maybe it was end of May. It was going to pick up and start filming. And then there’s news breaks on Friday night that the Bachelorette isn’t going to, isn’t going to be around at least in the summer. And I’m like, okay, well now that makes sense of why I heard eight hours ago, Bachelorette’s filming.
All right. Bachelor in Paradise is filming end of April, beginning of May is what I heard. So I was like, okay, so now that makes sense. We know we’re getting bachelor in paradise this summer. It just means one less group of people to choose from instead of whoever this bachelorette was going to be instead of her men.
Now we just have grants, women going back to last year, charities, men, and going back to last year in the bachelor season, Joey’s women. So that’s where a majority of your contestants are going to be from. Look, just based on Jen’s. After the final rose, we know that Jonathan is going to be on Bachelor in Paradise.
We know that Hakeem is going to be on Bachelor in Paradise. And I gotta believe Jeremy is going to be on Bachelor in Paradise. Assuming he is single in the next couple months before they go film. Which I saw Jeremy putting up workout videos on his Instagram story yesterday. So I’m not saying he’s not allowed to work out, but if he knows he’s going down to paradise, yes, a little more incentive to hit the gym and not even going over on the top of my head, who could be the other people.
We’re not going to sit here and break down who’s going to get cast. Cause we don’t know. And the other thing is we know what they have done in past seasons and it comes to paradise and casting. You are not officially a bachelor in paradise cast member. Literally until you walk down the steps, you could sign a contract, you could go through all your testing, you could be flown out to Mexico or wherever it may be, but it doesn’t mean you’re on the show until you walk down because we know there have been contestants who were flown out to Mexico and sat in a hotel for two weeks and just never brought down to the beach because production couldn’t think of a storyline to give them.
It’s happened before, it’ll happen again. So. Just because you might hear somebody’s going down there doesn’t mean they will. Now, for people like Jonathan and Hakeem and, you know, if someone like Maria wants to do Paradise, of course she’s gonna get on and those guys are gonna get on. I’m just saying for people on the fringe that are like, they were on maybe three or four episodes, they weren’t really big on their Bachelor or Bachelorette season, yeah, there’s a possibility that they’re not getting on even if they are flown to Mexico.
So we did talk about Mexico. I say Mexico because that’s where it was filmed for the first, what, eight, nine seasons. We don’t know where it’s filming next season because it’s not being filmed in Sayulita where they had filmed all the other ones because that property was sold and they have just chosen not to renew their contract with Bachelor Nation.
So if I hear anything, I will let you know on where it’s being filmed. Maybe it’s still being filmed in Mexico and they’re just going to choose a different resort or maybe they’re going to do something completely different somewhere else. Nobody knows yet. Where they are filming, at least nobody’s reported yet where they are filming.
And if I hear anything, uh, I will certainly let you know on that. One question that a lot of people have is, well, when was this decided? And from everything that I’ve heard, it was decided very recently. Now, when we get to Mike Fleiss’s tweets, I’ll discuss what very recently even means and what it could mean.
We’ve watched Grant’s season now for two episodes. During both of the first two episodes of Grant’s season, they have had commercials running. Straight out of a break saying, if you want to apply for the bachelorette, go here, they wouldn’t do that in the first two episodes. If they knew for sure, they were putting the show on pause.
You could say like, well, there, are you doing it for future seasons? No, they would have just not run that right now because there’s no reason to, if you know, you’re not running it. And it’s probably a good bet. They’re not running it in 2025 because a lot of it doesn’t make sense to go bachelor. Let’s do.
Bachelor in paradise. And we do know, and at least I know for sure, we’ve talked about this on the podcast, they are doing another golden bachelor this year and going back to season two of the golden bachelor. So I don’t think you would go bachelor bachelor in paradise, golden bachelor, and then run bachelorette.
What next later this year, October through December, because you’d have to choose a different night. Cause Monday night football, you would have too many dates where Monday night football is running a game on ABC on Monday nights, and the show would have to move it to a different night and their flagship shows, their two biggest shows are bachelor and bachelorette ratings wise.
Those aren’t going to get moved. They’ll move golden bachelor to a different night. They’ll move golden bachelorette to a different night. We’ve seen them move bachelor in paradise to different nights. They’re not moving bachelor or bachelorette off Monday nights. It’s just not going to happen unless I think didn’t Michelle season have a couple wonky dates, but you got to remember Michelle season was the second bachelorette season of that particular calendar year, 2021.
So I’m just talking about a one bachelorette. Calendar year season is not getting moved off of Monday nights. So I, my guess is it’s not canceled. I know everybody thinks it might be canceled because of ratings or whatever. I think they’re just looking to do a reset and just thinking about what they are going to do in the future.
But I don’t think it’s canceled. I do think what the press release said is accurate. It was paused and it will be brought back probably in 2026. I just don’t see them bringing it back later on this year. What would be the point of pausing it six months? There’s no need to. So that’s where we’re at with.
The logistics of it in terms of timing, not necessarily location. So maybe I shouldn’t have said the word logistics. There’s a lot to also break down here. And I want to get to that in a second.
