DAILY ROUNDUP 2/11 TRANSCRIPT
You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve podcast. I am your host Reality Steve, thank you all for tuning in on this Tuesday. We are going to recap what we saw on grants episode three last night of the bachelor. Also going to talk to you about what’s coming up this week in television, big week in television, at least for me it is.
And I’ve got another horrible, horrible headline coming out of the super bowl that again has to do with Travis Kelsey, not as much Taylor Swift, but more to do with Travis Kelsey. And just showing how these entertainment sites have no idea how to cover them as a couple or one of them alone by themselves, especially the guy who plays sports.
We’ll get to all that momentarily. Alright, let’s start here. Last night, there was a chance that I wasn’t going to have anything today because when 7 o’clock Central Time rolled around, which is when The Bachelor starts here in Dallas, There are select games throughout the year for the Dallas Mavericks that their games are on ABC.
Last night was one of them. I tweeted it out. I got hooked up by one of you listeners. Thank you very much for giving me their Hulu password. I was able to watch Hulu Live TV and was able to watch The Bachelor. About, I was about 30 or 40 minutes behind when I started, but I was able to watch the East coast feed logging into this person’s Hulu live.
So that definitely helped me because when there’s a Maverick game on ABC, they just push the bachelor until one 11 in the morning. It was going to air from one 11 to three 11 in the morning. And I wasn’t basically going to watch it till later on today and talk about it tomorrow. But thank you to the listener who bailed me out there as I was able to do that.
And so there’s a couple things about last night’s episode that I want to point out. I was just going to go over some of the notes from it, but I’ve got my note sheet here. So first off, before we even get into last night’s episode, the women tell all is taping on March 1st, which is like Saturday.
Honestly, I can’t remember the last time a tell all taped on a Saturday. Usually it’s Thursday or Friday. I don’t think that’s a big deal. Probably just wanted to do it on a weekend, but it tapes March 1st, the bachelor nation, Instagram account, put that out. So anything I hear from it, obviously I’ll relay to you.
We’re still three weeks away from that. But it, they announced it yesterday on the bachelor nation Instagram page, put a link to it, go to bachelor nation. com, click on audiences, and you can possibly be in attendance since it’s on Saturday, March 1st. All right, let’s get to last night’s episode again.
Something that is interesting that I don’t think they have ever done, at least when they were still in LA. So when they’re in LA for the longest time, it was two one on ones and a group date. And then, for the longest time, they did two group dates and one one on one before travel started. Well, last week they did two group dates and one one on one, but then this week they were set to do a group date and two one on ones.
But, the weird thing is, when you have two one on ones and a group date, hell, even when you go overseas, And you do mean anytime they go overseas, they’re definitely doing two one on ones and a group date. But the way it’s done in the episode is the first date card given is to the one on one person. And then the next date card is the group date.
And then by process of elimination, they know who gets the third one on one because they weren’t on the first one on one and their name wasn’t in the group date card because we know once you travel overseas, everybody gets a date. And even in LA this season and last season for the last few seasons, everybody’s gotten a date even in LA.
So. I wanted to bring this up. What was interesting was last night, Jesse came in and said this week, we’re going to have two one on ones in a group date, but we’re going to do the group date first. So you’re going to know who gets the two one on ones. I just thought it was weird. They’ve never done that before.
So as far as I know, I mean, maybe 12 seasons ago they did it, but as far as I can remember, it’s always, if they’re having two one on ones in a group, they do a one on one first, and then you don’t know who gets that second one on one until they read all the names on the group date. So they do the group date.
It’s 12 women. So we know that Beverly and Carolina are going to get the two one on ones. So the first group date is a finance group date. They’re going to learn about money and the two guests hosts that are going to be a part of this date are Daniel Lubitsky, who’s the founder of kind bars and Hannah Berner, a comedian.
Look, comedy is subjective. We know this, and if you’ve listened to my podcast long enough, you know how big of a fan I am of standup comedy. It’s just been something I’ve been going to. I go to two or three standup comedy shows a year, probably for the last 20 to 25 years. I just like going to them. It’s a great great place to go for dates, and I just like comedy.
I’ve always liked standup. I tape a lot of standup specials. I grew up on standup comedy. In terms of TV specials, HBO, the Rodney Dangerfield show back on HBO, back in the day, the George Carlin deals. Like I, I wore those tapes out just watching them over and over and over again, even though I had no interest in ever being a standup comedian.
I just liked memorizing comedians sets, but that’s not here nor there. What I want to say is this. We know this, that comedy is subjective, okay? I get that. And just because you don’t like a comedian doesn’t mean you hate them, doesn’t mean they suck, because just because you don’t like somebody as a comedian or don’t think they’re funny, somebody else might think they’re fucking hilarious and watch all their stuff.
And this is no shot at all to Hannah Burner. But I don’t find her funny at all. I’ve seen probably 20 minutes of her standup. I’ve seen plenty of her. What’s it like the giggly gals, her and the chick that just broke up with the Conover guy, Paige DeSorbo, right? That’s her podcast partner. And it’s like the giggly girls or giggly gals or something like that.
Their clips from their podcast show up on my feed all the time. And I’m not saying like, Oh my gosh, she is the most unfunny woman on the face of the earth. I’m just sorry. I don’t find her funny. Her comedy just, I don’t get it. She’s not funny to me. And you’d be like, oh, misogynist. Can’t, can’t like a woman comedian.
No. Some of my favorite comedians are women. Love Nikki Glaser. Love Eliza Schlesinger, Rachel Feinstein, Ally Wong, Whitney Cummings, Kelsey Cook, Jen Sturger, Anna Akana, Jessica Kirsten. Catherine Blanford, do you want me to go on? Those are all women comedians that I find very funny. Hell, if I’m looking at that list mentally, how many of those have I seen?
I’ve seen probably half of them live. I’ve seen Nikki Glaser live. I’ve seen Eliza Schlesinger live. I’ve seen Whitney Cummings live, Anna Akana live, Jen Sturger. Yeah, I mean, I’ve seen half of them live. So, it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s a woman comedian. There’s plenty of men comedian that I just don’t get.
That I don’t find funny. Theo Vaughn. I don’t get it. I don’t find him funny at all. I’ve never found Dane Cook funny. Gabriel Iglesias. Eh. Not very funny to me. For his popularity. And I’m naming like, I’m trying to name named people in the stand up industry that I just Don’t find funny. So yeah, it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s a woman.
Absolutely not. There’s plenty of women comedians out there that I not only watch and have seen their stand ups numerous times, but I’ve seen in person. I’ve paid money to see. I just, I don’t get it with Anna Burner. I just, I don’t know. But hey, if you like her, that’s great. I’m just not a fan. I don’t hate her.
I don’t think she’s the worst. I just am not a fan of her stand up. And for this particular role on the date yesterday in the episode, it’s not like she did a 10 minute set, you know, it had nothing really to do with comedy. She tried to make a joke here, there, and it kind of fell flat, but she wasn’t on the show to promote her comedy.
In fact, I don’t even know why she was on the show. I don’t know what the crossover was. Daniel Labitsky is a judge on Shark Tank, a guest judge every once in a while. Makes sense that he would come on The Bachelor. It’s just cross promotion with Shark Tank. Hannah Berner. I don’t know what the cross promotion is there, to be honest with you.
Then again, I don’t know what the cross promotion with Lisa Vanderpump, who came on at the end of the episode in the other group date, so, so whatever. But it was. The women going to 12 women going to a school of finance where they earned grant bucks and all this stuff. It just, it was, it was a silly, silly contest that Bailey ended up winning.
She had the most bucks. So they gave her a menu of what she could order and she spent all her money to own a t shirt of grants. There were other things on that menu. She chose to go with an 8, 000 t shirt. Obviously it was fake money. She didn’t pay 8, 000, but she had collected 8, 000 grant bucks and she decided to spend it on a t shirt.
Okay. So then when he was meeting with a few of the other women for alone time, Parisa played the chubby bunny game with him, but chubby bunny last time I checked was supposed to be played with peeps. Or marshmallows, not Rice Krispie treats. Who’s making up the rules to Chubby Bunny now. Did somebody just unilaterally decide we’re changing the rules to Chubby Bunny and it has nothing to do with marshmallows anymore?
And we’re just gonna shove Rice Krispie Treats in your mouth? Whatever. That’s what they got to do. Zoe was not having fun on the date. Other people were upset that Zoe wasn’t having fun. Serafina said that’s the shortest dress I’ve ever seen in my life. I don’t know where that came from. That literally came out of left field.
Like, I didn’t even notice Zoe’s dress being all that short. And if it was, I’m guessing there’s been shorter dresses in this world. I mean, to say like, it’s one thing to comment like, Oh, I don’t like the style of her dress. But to comment that another woman’s dress is the shortest dress you’ve ever seen in your life.
I’m guessing that was a little exaggerated. Therefore it was uncalled for. So I don’t know where Serafina came with that, but Zoe who. Seems to have drama follow her because she constantly seems to, I don’t think Zoe did anything out of line last night. She didn’t interrupt him. She didn’t steal him from anybody she felt ganged up on, but before she was ganged up on, and before somebody commented about her dress, she did say that she wasn’t in her element on the date and she kind of just made it about her, but again, is that the worst crime you could ever commit on the show?
No. I thought she was worse last week where. You interrupt him knowing exactly what you’re doing and knowing exactly that you’re going to piss somebody off. She was just kind of expressing her frustration about how she didn’t feel comfortable on the group date. But that turned everyone against her, but Parisa ended up getting the group date rose.
