All right. Let’s talk about the traders finale, man. I have no problem. I really don’t with the winners. I have no problem with Ivar, Dolores, Gabby, and Dylan winning. The traitors and the fact that they were all faithfuls. Would I have liked to seen us see a scene like in season one, where there was a three or four, three or four people at the end.
Season one, it happened to be three and everybody thought they were all faithfuls and they put their trust in Sari and Sari played a great game. One of the best games ever played in reality TV history and basically said, Hey, I’ve been a trader this whole time and they thought they were going to split the money with her and they didn’t and Sari took home the whole prize.
So I think a lot of people are a little bit underwhelmed by the winners. Like really Ivar and Dolores are winners of the traders. We have to declare them winners. Yeah. You know, Gabby and Dylan played way better games than Ivar and Dolores, but here’s my issue. And this is a major sticking point with me.
The total prize pot was 204, 000. We had four winners after all that, after 11 episodes, I have to get excited over four people splitting 204, 000. They’re getting 51, 000 a piece after taxes. Those people literally are winning 30, 000. What? There’s just, to me, that’s no stakes. And I understand there’s somebody could have won the whole thing.
Even if somebody would have won the whole 204, 000, that’s still five times less than what you win on Survivor. It’s three times less than what you win on Big Brother. I’m sorry. You gotta up this pot or make it different. Somehow, someway. Because the stakes for playing a game to where you win 30, 000 at the end after taxes, I can’t get excited about Ivar is now a, and honestly, I don’t think anybody cares.
Yeah. I guess it’s cool as a reality show contestant to have traders winner by your name, but don’t you think actually winning as much money as possible is way more important to these people than having the title of winner of traders by their name. Do you know what the title of winner of traders gets you later on in life?
Nothing. But if you won 500, 000 or seven 50 or a million. At least you could do something with that. I cannot believe we spent 11 episodes watching and scheming and conniving and backstabbing and traders going after traders to watch four people with 30, 000. What? I’m sorry. That’s almost embarrassing. Not saying that $30,000 wouldn’t help these people, but shit.
Gabby, Wendy has 1.2 million followers on Instagram. I’m guessing if she does a sponsored post, she can make 20 to 30 grand in one sponsored post. So the stakes to me, you could talk about gameplay all you want. You could talk about the manipulation and who’s been one of the better players or whatever.
Great. Congratulations, Gabby, Dillon, Dolores, and Ivar. Congratulations. You won 30 grand. It’s just, it’s such a, it’s like you just deflated that balloon. That balloon is just going after basically pumping up the balloon for 11 episodes. You got to admit that was a pretty disappointing ending. Not because of who won.
Although I think a lot of people are just like Dolores and Ivar. We have to declare winners of the show. Dylan Efrin was the MVP of the season. Gabby was probably second, but
I just, I mean, they were excited. They were named winners and they were excited that they made it all as, as faithfuls, I get it, but don’t tell me those people are thrilled at the prize that they won on that show. Do not tell me that they, like I said, Gabby by far, I don’t know what Dylan Efrin’s.
Instagram following is I’m guessing our Ivar has basically nothing. Dolores is probably pretty decent being a housewife, but my gosh, Gabby can make two Instagram sponsored posts and make more than she won winning a reality show competition. And like I said, survivor, while I’m pretty upset that survivor hasn’t changed their prize pot in 48 seasons, outside of the one season where Tony Vlachos won 2 million, they’ve kept it the same for 48 seasons.
You would think. Can we up the prize a little bit? You know, when it started in the early two thousands, 1 million. Yeah, nice. Now we’re dealing with inflation. 1 million. Isn’t what 1 million is. It’s not anything to sneeze at. Of course, they’re all going to take it. But come on. Let’s up the prize in Survivor.
I’m sure it’ll be upped for 49 are probably still gonna be a million dollar prize. I’m sure season 50 they’ll go to, to 2 million like they did for Tony’s season. But, I just, I, it was just, the excitement, I think, was more about, Hey, we made it. This is finally over. And us four stuck together. And we stuck to our guns.
And we were right about Brittany. But there’s no way those people were thrilled that they basically won 30, 000 after taxes, please. So we had the story of Jax Taylor the other day, admitting cocaine addiction for at least what the last 23 years, ever since he was in his early twenties, he’s admitted to having a cocaine addiction.
Well, ever since that’s happened, at least three, if not four members of the Vanderpump rules family have spoken out about it and basically said, without saying it. Not surprising. Yeah, we knew. I think Lisa Vanderpump said, something was always awry with him. Lala said, yeah, pretty much knew. James Kennedy said, there were signs.
So this is what’s pretty disappointing to me, is the fact that, clearly, I mean, you go on the message boards, and you look at social media over the years, Everyone pretty much assumed he was doing coke. It was one of the worst kept secrets. Like I didn’t even follow Vanderpump rules. And I had heard through the grapevine that this Jax Taylor guy was an absolute drug user.
Just, I just heard the stories and you know, it was second and third hand. I was never going to report it because, you know, I didn’t even cover that show. I didn’t even start watching it until Scandalball, but I had heard it and. Now, after the fact, after he comes out and admits it, everyone else has a comment about it that they basically knew.
So you’re telling me that his co stars knew it, obviously his wife, Brittany Cartwright knew. And at no point did this show ever step in and say, Hey, you need to get help. We’re not putting you on this show. They there’s no way they can play dumb and say, well, we didn’t know for sure. And we weren’t just going to accuse him of being a drug addict and forcing him to get help.
That’s his own deal. No. Everybody knew it was one of the worst kept secrets. At some point, the fact that this show never forced him off the show or to get help, I think it’s quite disappointing. And you basically just enabled the guy. How did you not enable him? You let him stay on your show for X amount of years, right?
Just embarrassing, especially now with everybody coming out and essentially saying, yeah, we knew it was, I mean, they’re not saying it was obvious, but they, they knew hell. I was, like I said, I was hearing it. And I had nothing to do with the Vanderpump Rules show or the family, wasn’t even watching it, but I knew Jax Taylor, big drug addict, 23 years using cocaine, and you can’t tell me that one producer, one cameraman, not one person That covered that show that was in the higher ups, a producer, a boom, my guy, an editor, not one person ever thought to say, you know what, this guy’s got a problem and he should not be on our show.
He needs to get help before we continue filming with him. Nobody. It just, it speaks volumes for where we’re at on something like reality TV and the lengths that production will go to. Here’s the thing. I’m not saying they didn’t know. I’m pretty sure they did. My whole argument is the fact that they did know and never took him off the show, never forced him to go to rehab, is exactly what I’m talking about.
It’s just all about the bottom line for reality TV production. Can you entertain us? Can you get us a good show? As long as this guy is coked out of his mind, and giving us great sound bites, and flipping out, and causing meltdowns, and getting us great sound bites, and giving us drama on our TV show, what do we care about getting him help?
You know that’s the way their thought process went. And it’s just embarrassing. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it.
