So before we get to your reader emails today, they were reader emails over the last couple weeks because I didn’t have a column last week.
So I, I mentioned in the open, it’s a big night for me tonight. This is something I’ve waited. I mean, I. I, I, I guess I’ve waited more than two years ever since this became a thing. I’ve been waiting for it to come to Dallas, and this weekend is the last weekend it is here, and that is the Back to the Future Musical.
I’m attending it tonight in Fair Park, which is my downtown Dallas, and everybody that has seen the Back to the Future Musical has said it is great. You’ll love it. And of course, anything back to the future related. I love, and when I heard about this musical, I believe it first started out in London. It was getting such rave reviews and I’m like, I don’t get it.
It’s a musical about Back to the Future. Back to the Future isn’t a musical, but they made a bunch of songs that are related to the story of Back to the Future, and I’m like, oh, okay. I was hanging out with a buddy this weekend in California who saw it during Christmas break, ’cause it was in southern California there at Segerstro Theater.
And he’s just like, yeah, no, it’s, it’s like you’re watching the movie. It’s the same dialogue from the movie, the same storyline from the movie, except they just created a bunch of songs in relation to the storyline. And I’m like, oh, okay. I’m down for that. Now. I’m taking my nephew who really likes the movie, but.
He’s a 17-year-old kid, about to turn 18 next week. I’m really having to sell him on going to a musical. He doesn’t really want to go, but I told him, look man, I bought these tickets six months ago and I bought ’em with you in mind because who else am I gonna take to go see this? So I’m going to see back to Future musical tonight.
I’m very excited. I will give my review of Back to the Future. The musical on Monday’s podcast of the Daily Roundup. So yeah, I’m, I’m really excited for this. I really, I really am. I, I can’t wait of, like I said, when I heard about it in London, I was like, well, I don’t know. I’m not gonna go to Broadway and see it.
I wonder if it’s ever coming to Dallas, and I remember getting an email last year. Saying, get your early tickets for back to the future of the musical coming in March of 2025. I think I saw that email literally a year ago. It was like March of 2024 and once they finalized the dates of when they were gonna be here, I was like, I’m in, I’m buying them right now.
And I think I purchased them six months ago. Maybe it was, maybe it was more than that. I can’t remember exactly the date that I purchased them or the month that I purchased them in, but it was, I wanna say last summer at some point. And it’s finally here. I can’t wait to go see it tonight. So I’ll report back to you on Monday.
What I thought about it, so not much going on about Nation. I know there’s a lot of Temptation Island stuff swirling around. You know, we thought there was a lot of love is Blind Post-show drama. Man, the stuff going on between Ashley and Grant on TikTok. On Nick Al’s podcast Lucky Bastard. Got to have a Temptation Island reunion show on his podcast yesterday.
Did I listen to all two and a half hours? No, but I saw so many clips on Instagram and TikTok. I feel like I watched most of it. I know pretty much what was said. I am trying to secure some Temptation Island contestants for the podcast. We will see hopefully if I can get them on in the next couple weeks, but.
Man. You talk about the drama. Taylor and Tyler have drama. Obviously Ashley has drama with Grant. You’ve got a lot of the singles Natalie taking to TikTok live. You’ve got Kay taking to TikTok live. Almost every woman from Tian Island has gone on TikTok to share her side of the story. There was an Olivia girl, I think she was the first girl to go on a date with Grant on Temptation Island.
I saw she put out like a. 10 minute TikTok just talking about her experience on the island, like they’re all trying to capitalize. I get it. But the main drama came from that. Faux reunion show that Nick was able to put together, obviously in conjunction with Netflix because they were all flown out to where he films his podcast, and it was everybody but Shante and Brianon.
I don’t know why they weren’t there. I. But Shante and Brion went on Mark Wahlberg’s Bonfire Talks podcast. I haven’t listened to that yet, but I have seen some clips. But it’s the other three couples that were there. The women were on one couch, the men were on the other couch. Obviously, Leno and Alexa are still together, still engaged.
No drama between them. But there was a lot of back and forth between Grant and Ashley. And between Taylor and Tyler, I’m sure you’ve seen a lot of the clips. I can’t get enough of ’em, but I do, I wanna sit there and listen for two and a half hours and, and give Nick vial the time of day to where, you know, yeah, it sucks.
I, I, look, I know that Nick gets better guests than I do. His brand is bigger than mine. It sucks that he gets them first. I would never be able to hold something like that unless we did it on, you know, my video format. But having them all in person was a, was a really great get. So I will give him credit for that, but I’m gonna try and just get them individually.
Is is the plan other than. If I can get any of the two successful couples or the couples that are still together, I would do them as a couple. Shante and Brion and Alexa and Leno. I don’t know. I, I have to get with Netflix. The Netflix of TI side because we’ve, they’ve already given me Mark Wahlberg, so they don’t have seem to have a problem with me.
But we will see going forward if I can get any more ti contestants moving forward after hopefully poverty is on next week. So that’s that for guests coming up on the podcast. But like I said. I’m not gonna have anything on the website today. Unfortunately, it just never got around to answering them in the written form.
But I did do your reader emails in a verbal form. So let’s get started with that. These go back at least two weeks, so the ones in the beginning will be further back. This is all just done in chronological order. Because I did not have a reader emails last week, so here we go. Hey, Steve, love your show.
Listen on and off since you started. I don’t even watch the show anymore, but I still fall along with your spoilers and everything on social media. I find myself wondering about your career path and how you’ve evolved into everything you’re doing now. I don’t know if anyone else has managed to make a career outta spoiling a popular reality show.
Have you ever done an episode of your podcast explaining your origin story and how you’ve gotten to where you are? I’d be super interested to hear it. Thanks for keeping me entertained. Your daily roundups are the perfect length for me to listen. To while I do my makeup every morning. Thank you for that.
I appreciate you listening. I always find it cool that people listen who don’t even watch the show. I guess I’m doing something right. And has anyone else managed to make a career out of a spoiling a popular reality show? I don’t believe so. I really don’t, I, if I’m missing somebody, I’ll give them credit.
I just, there’s no way that there’s anybody on the internet that has spoiled a reality show consistently for 15 years. I can’t imagine there is Now, is there a podcast out there explaining my origin story? Yes. I’ve done numerous interviews. If you go on my website and you click on media. Now granted, these are old interviews, but.
They kind of sum up interviews I’ve done where people have interviewed me about how I got started and all that stuff. So go on media and click on any of those articles that I’ve linked to there. If you don’t feel like reading, I think if you go back to the very beginning of my podcast, I’m talking within the first 20 that I did.
Michelle Money did an interview of me on my own podcast. I interviewed Michelle Money and then the very next week she came back and interviewed me on my own podcast. I would say it was in the first 20 that I did, and it was like two and a half hours long. So if you wanna listen to me two about everything for two and a half hours.
Granted, this was also seven years ago, eight years ago, in the beginning when I started my podcast. It’s definitely in there, but if you want shorter versions, there’s definitely links out there. Just Google reality, Steve, or there’s plenty of interviews I’ve done and my answers are pretty much the same in all of ’em ’cause my story has never changed.
It started out as an email to three people and then it just grew and grew and grew and that’s how it became a website and that’s how it became reality. Steve. Next email. Another thing that confused me is why didn’t Mary, oh, this is talking about Survivor. Why didn’t Mary say, even if S is willing to work with me, I’m not willing to work with her.
That way she could have forced her enemy out. It’s not like Cedric could punish her for doing that by voting for her out because she was safe. Very true. This person is talking about tribal council from two weeks ago when Cedric had the decision to either send. Si home or send pizza home, and he ended up sending pizza home because he said, S and Mary, you two need to work together and basically I’ll keep you here.
Yeah. I don’t know why Mary said, no, I’m good. I don’t wanna work with her. I don’t know. Maybe Mary if she said that and said, you know what, I don’t wanna work with her. And S was like, but I’d work with you, Mary. Maybe Cedric would turn, oh no, he could only vote for. S or pizza at that point. So yeah, I guess Mary could have said no.
But you’ve heard Mary in her, in her confessionals. She’s basically saying like, I don’t wanna work against her, but I technically don’t wanna work with her either. I don’t think Mary cares that S is out on the island. ’cause I don’t think Mary sees si as a threat. I think she sees si as somebody that’s gonna get under too many people’s skin.
Like she did in Wednesday’s episode, and she’s gonna be targeted. So maybe that’s why Mary’s like, yeah, sure. I’ll be friends with her. Or we’ll play nice when in reality Mary probably knows that she’s lasting longer than Cy. Hey, Steve, have you reached out to Deanna or has she reached out to you recently after the incident with Steven?
Might you get her on the podcast again? I have not reached out to Deanna. I still think it’s a little bit too early. Will I, I’m, I’ll reach out at some point, but I have no idea if she would be willing to come on my podcast and talk about it. My guess is she would probably go on Courtney’s first and talk about it, but you never know.
Any chance Rachel k will go on your podcast. I know she’s done Call Her Daddy. However, I think you’d give her a terrific platform to discuss all things Bachelor. I I doubt it. I, I think Rachel is not gonna do another podcast. I think she felt like the hour and 45 minutes she did with Call her Daddy is enough.
The only thing, I mean, it’s not like she’s never gonna do another podcast, but in terms of a podcast where she literally sits there and for an hour and 45 minutes talks about her breakup, I. It is just not gonna happen. I’d love to have Rachel on and, you know, back when everything was going down, I, I did help her out.
I did text Rachel after the call her daddy podcast telling her I appreciated her shout out on the podcast and basically just hang in there. She did not respond to me, nor did I really expect her to. It’s not like we’re close. ’cause the last time I spoke to Rachel was 2021 when everything went down.
So you know, it was just me checking in. I do that occasionally. There’s people in this franchise that I don’t speak to for years, but if they come up in the news or something like that and they were on the podcast once or whatever, I’ll send them a text here and there. Some respond, some don’t. It is what it is.
Also next email. Hey Steve, that is so weird about Netflix. Your interview with Lauren was so good. Is Madison on contract with them for a certain amount of time? You should definitely interview her once her contract is up. In fact, I wish you would interview Jimmy right now, especially since his name was brought up at the reunion.
Yes, she’s under contract. I don’t know how long theirs is in terms of all media had to be approved by Netflix, but. You know, by the time Madison is off contract, we’re probably gonna be over with the Denver season and maybe even be ready to go with the Boston season. So, I don’t know. I mean, I’m not gonna say Madison’s irrelevant at that point, but it just isn’t as topical.
And six to seven months later, talking about. Well, what’d you think of the whole Mason and Alex? Love triangle. It just seems outdated. It’s like you gotta get these people right away when it’s hot. And I thought I was going to, until Netflix pulled a 180 and just said, no, Netflix has denied this request and didn’t gimme a reason.
So unfortunately, I, I mean, maybe I will at some point. I’m just saying it’s not nearly as topical if I have Madison on nine months from now, you know. The second part of this email said, I finally caught up on Paradise and Survivor. Now I have to go back and listen to so many parts of your daily podcast that I was purposely avoiding.
Thank you for recommending Paradise. All the actors are so amazing. I had watched maybe the first 30 or 45 minutes of the first episode of Survivor and I thought it was a total snooze fest, but then everyone talking about the crazy tribal in the third episode. So I finally started watching again today by the middle of episode one.
It got really good and has been good ever since. Like I said, this email was probably sent two weeks ago. I’m sure this person saw last night’s episode or Wednesday night’s episode. And yeah, this season has gotten really good and just a lot of good gameplay going on, a lot of likable characters this season.
And you know, like I said in yesterday’s podcast, that event that. The episode that Eva had after the immunity challenge on Wednesday, and with Joe comforting her, it just. It transcends gameplay, and it was an amazing, amazing moment in this show’s history, if not the most powerful moment and most touching moment this show has ever had.
And they’ve had a lot over the years. A lot of the family visits have always been very emotional. They don’t even do those anymore. It’s usually just letters from home. So to get something like that out there, not that Joe and Eva are family, but it was like they were family and it was like she was his daughter and just, it was unbelievable.
And like I said yesterday, how do you vote one of those two out? Like anybody playing that game is gonna be like, we can’t sit next to either one of them in the finals because they’re going to win. And if both of them are sitting in the finals, how do you vote one over the other? And I’ll stick by this.
If Joe and Eva happen to be in the final three, I think Joe will let Eva win. I really do. I don’t think he’ll campaign against her. Maybe he won’t say, Hey, just throw all your votes on her. But I don’t think Joe will fight for himself. So hard to beat Eva. I really don’t. Hey Steve, longtime reader, first time sending you an email.
I started following your coverage during Jake Veka season when I was in middle school, and I’ve been a fan since. I know you said you aren’t interested in going back to watch Old Love is Blind Seasons, but I highly recommend at least watching the first season. It was the reason the show became so popular.
The people were very authentic and you can tell it wasn’t a bunch of wannabe influencers. Seasons three and four are also very entertaining. But the first one is something I think you would enjoy. Many of the cast do not have a relationship with Kinetic anymore either, so you wouldn’t have to worry about clearing things with them to get an interview.
The other thing I just wanted to add was that I like your challenge coverage. I would love to hear you talk about it more and have more guests from the show. This All Star season has been fun and full of drama. First point that you make. I’m probably not gonna go watch. Love is Blind. Seasons one through five.
Although the Dallas season, I might watch just for the sole reason to see them back in Dallas and at places that I’m sure I’ve hung out at at some point back in my twenties and thirties or thirties when I moved here, when I was 31. So it’d just be cool to kind of see where exactly they went when they were moving back and they had to stay in Dallas.
My guess is the apartment complex they stayed in was probably. I don’t know. I don’t know where they did it. University Park, lower Greenville, Knox Henderson area. I don’t know, but, or Bobby in downtown actually, now that I think about it. But yeah, I don’t I don’t know. That’s probably the only one I would ever go back and watch just because live here.
My challenge coverage. I’m not watching All Stars. I got backed up. It was recorded on my DVR and then however many episodes there have been, I’ve seen none of it. And I’m like, I’m never gonna get to these. I know I won’t, so I deleted them. I’m not watching All Stars, so you’re not gonna get any All Star coverage from me, but I will watch season 41, which I believe is filming now.
I’ve come across some spoilers on Gamer v’s Twitter account, which it’s almost impossible to avoid spoilers, so I just have to not go. I said her account, I don’t even know if it’s a guy or a girl. That account I’ve unfortunately seen eliminations. I get that people are mad at Grant, but he is truly a step above both Ari and Jason.
At least he didn’t propose then change his mind. Everyone loves Jason and Molly. Now everyone loves Ari and Lauren together. They’re about to have their fourth kid. I hope you talk about Piper’s reaction to the new Bachelor Nation relationship. Have you heard anything about Piper and Brendan’s relationship?
Any breakups and breakups? So I’m trying to think of when this email was sent. Was this sent after the Serene and Brendan? Hard launch. Well, probably, yeah. Obviously they asked how do you talk hope. You talk about Piper’s reaction to the new Bachelor nation relationship. Her reaction seemed to be very reactionary because she made it seem like she was gonna spill all this tea, and then she hasn’t said a word since.
So it looks like we’re getting nothing from her and unless something happened. Unless Piper heard about Brendan and Serene while Brendan and Piper were still together, I don’t know what Piper can really say that would be tea worthy, you know? And didn’t Brendan and Piper break up over a year ago? So I don’t think there was any overlap there.
I mean, what could Piper add to Brendan and Rene’s relationship other than coming across as petty or bitter? Unless there was an overlap, but I, I, I don’t think there was either Pipe, Piper and Brendan were done a while ago. Right. And then I know that the email I got right at the beginning of the year regarding Brendan and Piper excuse me, Brendan and Serene being on a date in la I think that was one of the very first times they actually hung out together.
So. I really don’t think there was any overlap, so I don’t really know what Piper could add to this other than it doesn’t seem like she wants to say anything positive about Brendan and that at this point, that really just would seemingly come across petty. But if she’s got something, don’t tease people with it.
Just say it. Hey Steve. The announcement about adding goldens to Bachelor in Paradise just wow. It just doesn’t seem like the right fit. Seniors in bikinis know we want the BIP drama and juice. I also feel like the sad life stories from the Goldens aren’t going to mesh well with what we have to come to expect from BIP.
Are the producers pulling a prank on us? This can’t be real. Signed a sad longtime. BIP fan. PS Cannot wait to go to the Vegas party. 67 more days. Woo. Yes, the Vegas party is, is going to be really, really fun. So yeah, I am. So here’s the deal with the goldens. We’re just gonna have to wait until filming is over or until we start hearing spoilers, because I really do think it’s gonna be separate.
Not that the goldens won’t interact with the younger crowd, I just don’t think they’re gonna be going on dates with each other. But when they’re all sitting around and whether there’s a daybed or something like that and they’re all sitting there, yeah, the goldens will be part of it, but I really don’t think they’re gonna be cross dating.
It just doesn’t seem like that is something that really fits the style of this show, and it’s really something that I think a lot of people even want to see. Nor do I think a lot of the women on this show are interested in 65-year-old men. I don’t think the men on this show are interested in 60-year-old women.
Of course, 65-year-old men would love to go out with someone like Zoe, but it just doesn’t seem realistic. Hey Steve, I hope you had a fun trip. Do you keep calling your hotel beforehand to confirm everything or is that reserved for your annual party? No, the party stuff is more what it’s for. This trip was booked a while ago and it’s just one room for me.
It’s usually for party stuff or when I’m there for first week of NFL for my buddies. ’cause usually we try and link up and try and get our rooms on the same floor and stuff like that. But yeah, I don’t. I don’t call, although I’ve been in contact with House of Blues quite a bit more so on email, but as we get closer, yeah, the calls will be coming because there is a different thing this year that I had to do to get people room rates under my.
Discount family members and stuff like that, that it’s, it’s kind of wonky this year, so I’ve had to call to make sure everything is lined up and I guarantee I’ll call 10 more times before the weekend of my party. What else in this email, my favorite part of the Jason interview was when you were hoping he would say that sports gambling was as good as stock market investing.
Yeah, I mean, I knew the answer. I just wanted to see what he would say. I, yeah, I’m very well aware. Farmer wants a wife new season watching it or done with it? Well, I believe I was outta town for the first episode and I think there’s been another episode this week. So there’s two. I think it automatically records on my DVR since I recorded last season, but I haven’t seen anything I haven’t watched yet.
And will I? I don’t know.
