Okay, let’s discuss some sad news in the Bachelor Nation world. This came out of left field yesterday, and it was by Serene Russell.
You remember her from Clayton season. She also went on Bachelor in Paradise, got engaged to Brandon James. We all know how that ended. But anyway, on her Instagram story, yesterday, she posted this. On Sunday Mother’s Day, I saw my mom and immediately became concerned with her condition During brunch, I took her to the er.
Everything came back clear, and she was given fluids and sent home. She kept complaining about not feeling better, so I talked to her and going back while I was at work, she was diagnosed with a golf ball sized brain tumor last night. Diagnosed with stage three four brain cancer. I’m still in shock as this has all happened in three days and she had been hiding.
Her pain has been experienced in disorientation. It is fast-growing and she only had experienced symptoms for a week. Please send prayers her way and consider donating to her GoFundMe. The first step is surgery Tuesday. Her insurance does not cover it. Ugh. We are facing many obstacles, but this is my mom and I know she’s strong enough to beat it.
My little brother and sister are 15 and still depend on her. We all do. And she included a link to the GoFundMe. As of right now, the time of this recording. Serene has raised $5,973. She has a goal of $15,000, so she put that up. I mean, at the time of this recording, she posted this maybe seven hours ago, and she’s raised $6,000 in seven hours.
I put it out, I donate, and then I put it out on my Instagram story. If you don’t remember to go to my Instagram story or by the time you go there, it’s disappeared. Just go to Rene’s Instagram story as well. Serene Brooke Russell. And donate if you can, whether it’s $5, $10, whatever you can do it’ll help.
You just, this is just awful. I mean, I, I, I feel terrible for her and, you know, life hits you in weird ways sometimes, so I just wanted to support her in any way I could. And then let everybody know and just kind of pass the word around because this is a, you know, a golf ball size, brain tumor and have to have surgery and it’s not even covered by insurance.
How in the world is somebody’s brain surgery not covered by insurance? It’s just, it’s hard to believe, but I don’t want to get into any of that. So that’s why I think we should support her and donate whatever you can to help out in some way. No real easy segue out of that. But I do wanna talk about Survivor from Wednesday night ’cause Shaheen got eliminated and he did his exit interview with Dalton Ross on ew.com and Dalton asked him, Hey, when you left the show, you said you all got rid of the best player.
Dalton asked him, you didn’t get to make a case to the jury ’cause obviously you didn’t get to Final Three. So give me an abbreviated version of what your resume or what your speech would’ve been to the jury. And I’m gonna zip through this because Shaheen gave longer than a 32nd answer here, but he said.
So if you look at Joe, Eva, and Kyle, whoever’s left, and look at the connections that we had, I think that I came into the merge as a huge threat. I almost got voted out at the Cedric vote and they were coming for me. I managed to survive. Okay, cool. Then Chrissy comes for me. I managed to not only survive, but I was actually part of switching the vote, if not the leading cause of switching the vote.
Back from Camilla to Chrissy. Then we have the organization I had for David to get voted out over three days. Then we have the fact that I switched it from Mary to Star and you see me switch it with Joe, the one who led him through that conversation and inception him into the idea that even though Mary was coming for him.
Then you have the Mary vote where I decide I’m not gonna go for Joe, because I believe that Joe has kind of burned people. I believe at the time that Joe has kind of burned people that are on the jury and think that I can beat him considering Star was coming for me and thought I was the biggest threat.
Mary and I really got along and I thought she was using the Joe thing as a ruse to piss me off to make a move that she so she could survive and frankly. I was more scared of Mary at the end than I was of Joe. When you consider Cedric, David, Chrissy and consider the fact David stood up, that’s how strong her connections were.
Cedric was on a beach with her from day one and Star and her were like, ride or die. They were number ones like Mary said. So for me, it was more important for me to get rid of Mary there and I could explain all those things at Final Tri Tribal Council and also you see Star Say It, I was the brains of the operation and that was the perception of what was happening out there.
The perception was. That I was the brains of the operation and that Joe was the Braun and evil was the heart. Well, I think most of the time the person who wins the game is the person who was the brains of the operation. Very interesting resume that he laid out right there. A lot of stuff that I didn’t remember, even though obviously I’ve watched every season.
I still don’t know even with that resume and the way he explained it, if he would’ve won people over. ’cause remember, we just never know what the jury, what their criteria is because each person has their own criteria. It does not matter. It does not matter. There’s no set thing where it’s like, this is who you have to vote for, or these are the things that you have to look into when you’re voting for somebody.
It’s just however anyone feels they could flip a coin and vote. In their head, they could say the three people on the in the finals are A, B, and C, and I’m just gonna choose a random letter. You know, it, it, it’s whatever anybody wants. So sometimes it’s about gameplay, sometimes it’s about immunity wins.
Sometimes it’s about social game. We just never know. So I’m not gonna sit here and say Shaheen would’ve won because we don’t know who he would’ve been sitting next to. But it’s interesting that Shaheen says that he believes Joe has burned a lot of people on the jury. I, I guess I don’t feel that way, but he would know better than I was because he was out there.
And when he gives an interview like this, you kind of know that, look. This was filmed a year ago. He already knows who won. He already knows who is on the jury and he knows who on the jury voted which way. So it’s always curious to me, when they give these interviews, is he giving this interview, trying to give people a hint of what the jury’s heads were at where they were at before the votes were coming?
Because you got Shaheen, a jury member who literally just said, Hey, I think Joe burned some people on the jury. Well, why would Shaheen say that if he burned, if Joe burned? Nobody on the jury. So this is, again, this could go against everyone thinking this is a slam dunk for Joe to win. And maybe Joe does win.
I don’t know. We’ll find out next Wednesday night. But this is this is really interesting. Shaheen had a great, great resume builder there. Would he be able to convince everybody of it if he would’ve made it to the final three? I don’t know. But I wanted to read that to you and just be like, wow. It’s a better case than I thought he could have made if he made Final Three.
Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also rate and review, but you got hit play.
