As I mentioned yesterday,
Netflix released the Fall of Fav documentary, which is a documentary. It’s about an hour and three minutes on Brett Fav. And basically his troubling, this isn’t a fluff piece at all. The first 10 minutes are, here’s Brett Favre, the football player, and here’s how much he was adored in Wisconsin and Mississippi, where he’s from, and just kind of the legend of Brett Favre as a football player, not as a human being, just as a football player.
And then they bring in Jen Sturger to tell her story. I, I’d rather you watch it and then listen to tomorrow’s interview with Jen. But with Jen we can dive into a little bit. We do dive into a little bit more tomorrow. It’s 75 minutes long. It’s an hour and 15 minutes. I spoke with Jen that you’ll hear tomorrow and in this conversation, because the fall of fav was, while Jen was part of it, and probably say 30 to 35% of it.
The fall of Fav was also, it’s still Brett’s story that is focused on, Jen is just a spoke in the Wheel of Jet’s Brett’s story. So Jen and I don’t go over details of what happened because that’s covered in the documentary. The main thing that I wanted to get out of this conversation with Jen. That you’re gonna be able to hear tomorrow is the way it was covered.
And I know we were dealing in different times back then. We clearly were. We know how men in the media treated women back then. Hell, we know how some of the women interviewers treated other women. Google. Katie Couric, Britney Spears, cringe, cringe. Interview from early two thousands. It might have been late nineties.
That’s just one that comes to my head right away. ’cause it’s just, I, you’re just sitting there watching and going, I can’t believe this. But basically, Jen’s story is one of a woman getting railroaded and immediately being a perfect example of judging a book by its cover. You’ll hear Jen say it in the documentary.
If you haven’t watched it yet, you’ll hear her say it on the podcast. She goes, I was just a face, I was just a picture to people. Nobody knew anything about me. They knew me as the girl who was on TV at a Florida state game in a tank top, and somebody who was broadcasting the game. Brent Musburger at the time.
Made a suggestive comment about me. And in 2005, when she went to that game, this was the early stages of blogs, she got popular because a bunch of bloggers started calling her the Cowboy Girl. ’cause she had a cowboy hat on and a tank top, and it just turned into, well, she’s not believable because of the way she looks.
It’s honestly what it was. Nobody was believing her. If you saw the doc, you, you can’t think anything other than that, really. I mean, some of the clips, the George Stephanopoulos interview, we talk about it in the podcast tomorrow. That’s one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen. Just creepy all around how George Stephanopoulos treated her in that interview.
And then a clip from an interview that she did on the Greg Carton and Boomer Assan show. It’s a radio show based outta New York, and this would’ve been however long ago. It was 15 years ago, and Craig Carton with Jen Sturger in studio, probably sitting five feet away from him, basically says, what was the big deal you were selling sex in a football player?
Hit on you. What’d you expect is, it’s just kind of unbelievable because I think now we’re a little more in tune with. How we should treat women, especially women in the media. This was just a woman trying to make it in media. It’s already hard enough for a woman to make it in sports broadcasting because it’s such a male dominated industry.
And then this happens to her and Brett becomes the victim. Brett’s the one that’s married, who is hitting on her, sending inappropriate messages, sending her a dick pic. Sending her voicemails and she’s the one that was in the wrong. Why aren’t we focused on the man’s behavior? Jen’s been a friend for 10 years, so obviously I’m taking her side on this, but I’ve had one person already, well, they actually messaged Jen, but we talk, I read it to her because she posted it on her Instagram story.
And it’s just like this response where someone was attacking her and this was before the doc came out. Jen posted this on her Instagram story last week, and you’re just sitting there going like, wow, there are some people that, and I don’t know who this person is that sent it. Jen put their handle out there and if you click on their handle, I couldn’t, I couldn’t gauge where they were from, but if I were to bet anything.
This person either has a green or white number four Packer jersey somewhere, or they are a lifelong Packer fan season ticket holder, something like that. Or they’re from Mississippi where F grew up because they gave her basically one of the router emails. They didn’t call her names or anything, but they just basically didn’t believe her.
But like, why are you talking about this anymore and all this stuff. And this was before the documentary came out. It’s just like they were speaking from a place of ignorance. Not to mention a lot of the things they said in their message to Jen was just factually incorrect. You knew they could tell you pretty much knew.
They knew nothing about the story. So that’s what makes me think they’re a far fan. It’s just like they know. The documentary is called The Fall of Far and they’re probably a Green Bay fan or a far fan and just they don’t believe anything that their, their Godlike figure could possibly do wrong. All I would say is give yourself the time.
Watch the documentary, the Fall of Fav on Netflix. Listen to Jen tomorrow and I think you’ll get a better understanding of everything. I thought she was outstanding in her interview with me, how open and honest she was and maybe it’s easier for her ’cause she knows me and we’ve talked on and off for 10 years.
I don’t know. I thought she was great and I think she explains a lot. I think she wants to make it a point of this is more about power and control and how women were treated back then. I mean, she was basically the Me Too movement before the Me Too movement. Because if I said this to her, and she actually didn’t even agree.
I said, Jen, if this happened now, you would get a lot more support from people. She goes, I don’t know, because look who did it. It was a guy that was beloved in the sports world. I said, yeah, that’s true. I said, if, you know, take any athlete that’s not very in universally loved by a lot of people, I don’t know.
Aaron Rogers isn’t universally loved. Some people love him, some people hate him, but he’s got a definite crowd against him right now. So if Aaron Rogers did this right now to you, I get the sense that a lot more people would run to Jen side and her and support her and not immediately say, oh, it’s your fault.
I mean, it, it, it’s essentially the argument of what. Look at what you were wearing. You were asking for it. I mean, that’s essentially how Jen was treated. But she also does talk about how before the fav stuff happened in 2008 when she was working for the Jets from 2005, when she was discovered to 2008, she was being somebody that she wasn’t, she was playing the game, which was, I’m just gonna sex it up because I know that’s what these blogs and she.
That’s what they want. That’s what these sports sites want. They want women and bikinis. She goes, I played it up, but that doesn’t mean you deserve what happened to her. It’s funny, she said this in a lot of interviews and she has said it to me over the years. She goes, yeah, like once the attention started coming and everybody wanted a piece of me in terms of the media and all the sports sites and the.
The early two thousands that had Maxim and FHM, and when Playboy was big back then, she did Playboy, Maxim, and then Sports Illustrated. She goes, I went in the reverse order because usually you do sexy shoots, bikinis, very little clothing, and then you move on to Playboy. What’s funny is she did Playboy first, and I can’t remember if she said this on the podcast.
She said it to me or she, or she’s told me this story before, but she basically said she shot Playboy. She did Playboy at some point. And right after that, Maxim contacted her and they’re like, have you done any other shoots? And she’s like, yeah, I actually just did Playboy and Maxim’s. Like, you know, dammit, you know, once Playboy is out there, essentially, why are people gonna wanna see you clothed?
And Maxim said, when does Playboy run? And Jen told them the month, I can’t remember what month it was. And they’re like, okay, good. And we, I think it was like two or three months from the time she shot it and they’re BA and Maxim was like, okay, good. Let’s get you up to New York next week and shoot you.
And then they released it. So Maxim, she shot Playboy first, but Maxim actually ended up coming out first on the stands and then a month later, two months later, it was Playboy. But I think probably the best part of the interview tomorrow. Is Jen talking about Jen Sturger and who Jen Sturger was from 2005 to 2008, and she basically said it was a facade.
I was playing a character and I was trying to be somebody that I wasn’t, because what you saw in the magazines and the crop tops, and she goes, that was me trying to be somebody else because I was never popular. I was a Band geek. I was a Star Wars nerd. But once you got a taste of that, you, that’s where she kind of says, I just played the game.
Now that has nothing to do with fav. I’m talking about oh five to oh eight. Started working for the Jets in oh eight. That’s when the fav incident happened. I hope you go watch the, documentary. It’s really, really good. And I think the conversation with Jen’s tomorrow Jen tomorrow is, is excellent. I can’t wait for you all to hear it, and I, I think you’ll be, you’ll come away very, very impressed by her because I guarantee, just like people in 2005 had a particular image of this woman, all she was was a face and a picture to people.
Now you get to hear the person that she is. So it, it’s just. Whatever impressions you have of her on the outside are probably 180 degrees different than once you listen to her and hear her speak. And then finally, survivor finale tonight, three hours. We will get our winner. Steven Fishback will be next week’s podcast guest on episode number 4 45.
But the one thing that we learned is we’re gonna find out the Survivor 50 cast. There was rumors, we’re gonna find out tomorrow, but it’s gonna be next Wednesday. Next Wednesday. They’re releasing the survivor 50 cast, survivor 49, I believe, just filmed, I believe that cast just got home last week. There’s nobody on that cast that is a former player and.
There’s no repeats or anything like that, so that’s gonna be a brand new cast. But then 50 we know is all returning players. I’ve seen stuff online about who the cast is, but I never know which one is true because I feel like I’ve seen some cast lists and I and I, and I was like, well, which one is it?
Because not all the cast lists I’ve seen have been the same. Like, here’s the rumored cast list for 50. The latest one I saw had 20 people on it, and basically 10 of them from the new era. From Seasons 40 on and then 10 of ’em from the first 40 seasons. And even, even though I have a horrible memory when it comes to retention of the show, we’ve got the, the originals from 10 people from the first 50 seasons of the 40 seasons of the show before the new era started.
They’re all very familiar names. If this cast list that I saw is right, so we’ll know for sure next Wednesday night, but three hour survivor finale tonight. We will talk about it tomorrow. That’s for sure. Anyway. Thank you all for listening. Really appreciate it. Follow me on Apple Podcast. Also rate and review, but you gotta hit play.
It’s the only way it counts is a download Sports Daily coming up in an hour from now. Anyway, thank you all for listening. I really appreciate it, and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
