Daily Roundup 7/9 – BIP’s New Format Response, Love Island Dominating the Dating Landscape, IG Followers & BIP, & The Valley Episode #13

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality See podcast. I’m your host reality. Steve, thank you all for tuning in. On this Wednesday, another good show for you. We are gonna go over a little bit more from Bachelor in Paradise. I want to give you some thoughts and I wanna put to rest some theories out there from people and some complaints by the audience.

We are also going to talk, of course, it’s Wednesday, so we’re gonna talk about the Valley last night. We are going to talk about the Big Brother cast being announced yesterday. And apparently the BB people online and the crazies from the BB world have already found some very disheartening news about one of the men on this season, and we will get to all that momentarily.

Usually I start out Wednesday’s episode talking about the Valley, but honestly, last night’s Valley. Had its moments. Sure. But I feel like it’s the same stuff over and over. So I want to talk about Bachelor in Paradise from Monday night. Couple things that I wanted to mention in terms of stuff I got responses to in the last 24 hours and or 24 hours since the episode ended.

And that was this. I think a lot of people. I mean, it was hit or miss when it came to the look. Some people liked the look, some people didn’t. You know, you’re not right or wrong. It’s obviously everybody’s preference. Although the amount of people that told me they didn’t like the look of the show all had one thing in common.

At least I’m just talking about this isn’t a universal thing. Nothing is universal in this world, but every single person that Mitch, that hit me up on Twitter or Instagram, where I could physically see. Who they were and what they looked like all had one thing in common, in the ones that didn’t like the format and how it was shot and all that.

And let’s just say they were all around my age. That’s just a fact. It doesn’t mean every single person my age didn’t like it my age or older, but seemingly what I’m trying to get at is. It seems like the older generation doesn’t care for that type of filming. The problem is, and I I, I’m not gonna tell these people not to watch the show.

I mean, by the way they spoke about it, they’re either going to hate watch the rest of the season or they’re not going to watch. But what I’m trying to get at is I don’t know how to tell these people, this is the way the show is now and. You can either hate watch it or just not watch it. It’s not changing.

The show is changing with the times. You might not like the way the show is shot with the slow moss and the poses and all that, but this is the way the dating shows are going be like, yeah, this is like Love Island. They’re ripping off love island. Have you seen the popularity of Love Island? Why don’t you rip off something from a show that’s absolutely kicking your ass in the reality dating world.

Like I said, I understand not everybody likes it, but you have to also understand this is the way TV is going now. Your nostalgia of, oh, I wanna see them on the beach in Mexico. I, I, I don’t know what to tell you. That’s not the way TV is going anymore, unfortunately. Go look at what Love Island is doing season seven.

That’s airing now. I don’t even watch it, but I’m well aware of how popular that show is. So it’s not a bad thing that Bachelor in Paradise is changing things up and trying to do something different. The other thing that I wanna talk about is the, and I, this kind of goes to what I just talked about in regards to Love Island, is the popularity of that show and the popularity of the contestants.

This, this show has Dale Moss. If you take everybody that’s gonna be on Bachelor in Paradise this season, Dale Moss is the leading candidate in terms of who’s got the most followers from anybody that shows up on Paradise. This season, it’s Dale, but Dale has also lost over 200,000 followers since he was on the Bachelorette.

Go look at the numbers. When he got engaged to Claire, his peak was like 770,000, and now he’s in the mid five hundreds. Second highest is Susie. She’s in like 3 80, 3 85, something like that. But there’s just not a lot of people on this show that are over and just killing it on Instagram. Hell, this is Kat’s third show.

Kat is probably outside of Susie, the most popular female contestant on the on, on this season of Bachelor in Paradise. She doesn’t even have a hundred thousand followers. She’s at 98. She’ll, she’ll surpass a hundred thousand this year. She’s at like 98,000 as I speak as I record this, like have you seen the Love Island numbers?

I’m gonna go over them for you real quick. And this is straight from Bachelor data. Who uses computer programs for this stuff? When episode one aired of Love Island, Amaya had 41,000 followers. A girl that nobody knew, probably outside of her friends and family, and I don’t know what she did before this show.

She’s got 964,000 now a month later, Huda, when she came on the show had 123,000. Now she’s got 1.2 million Sierra. Now she got booted off the show. I do know that I read, and that was pretty disgusting on her part when she came on 32,000 followers. She’s at 773 and she’s lost obviously. She got close to looks like 800,000, over 800,000.

So she’s lost about a hundred thousand since the controversy. Ria, episode one 25,000. Now she’s got 560. Shelly Shelly, 20,000 on episode one. Now she’s got 600,000, Zach, 199,000. Now he’s got 2 75. But we know men on the on. Social media don’t really kill it, but this is the point that I’m talking about.

And that was just those people. If you take the eliminated contestants, Jeremiah 2.27 million, Jalen, 2 million Hannah, 1.7 million. I don’t know how to pronounce this girl’s name ’cause I don’t watch the show. I’m not even gonna try B-E-L-L-E dash a. I don’t even wanna try ’cause I know I’m gonna butcher it.

She’s almost at a million. You see what I’m saying here? You guys can complain All you want about, oh, the show’s turning into Love Island. Well, I’m telling you right now, if it doesn’t turn into Love Island and people don’t start watching it and start caring about these people and following them, this show’s going away.

So you can bitch all you want about Love Island people and Instagram influencers and stuff like that. Look at the gains that these people get on Love Island, and you got people barely in their third time around on the Bachelor franchise, barely cracking a hundred thousand followers. So let’s also kill this notion that all these people do for Bachelor in Paradise just come on.

Because they want Instagram followers. I mean, I, I think you may have heard Chad on the podcast last week, or in the interview they did with Vanity Fair saying. Anybody that comes to me saying they want to gain Instagram followers, I’m not telling ’em to go on The Bachelor anymore. I’m telling them to go on Love Island.

The numbers bear it out. It’s as clear as day. You don’t go on the Bachelor franchise anymore if you actually want to build a brand and build a social media career. Yes, people have done it in the past, but look at the numbers recently. It is a staggeringly low amount compared to who goes on. Love is Blind and who goes on most importantly, love Island.

Love Island is absolutely destroying the reality dating franchise right now. Destroying it. And when I say destroying, I mean in a good way because that’s the show where you gain followers and can come off the show and build a brand. I’ve never even watched Three Seconds of Love Island this season, yet I know the names of these people.

I know Jeremiah, I know Huda because I read the entertainment sites. I see their name plastered all across it. Who’s the Golden couple this year in Bachelor in Paradise, Spencer and Jess, the two of them com. The two of them combined aren’t even at 70,000 followers. They’re both under 30. Yeah. It’ll improve by the end of the year.

But do you honestly think Spencer Conley or Jess Edwards and, and nothing against them, but do you honestly think they’re gonna hit 1.5 million in the next seven or eight weeks? No, they’re not even gonna come close. That’s what I’m saying. You’d be like, well, the show isn’t about Instagram followers. Well, your Instagram following does say a lot about how many people are interested in wanting to follow you and care about you.

It does play a role, and the bottom line is this show is just falling off. And that’s why I had no problem with how they changed everything up. At least trying. Yeah. You might say it’s almost a blatant rip off of Love Island. Yeah. ’cause Love Island absolutely kills it in the ratings for Peacock.

Absolutely destroys. So, I dunno what you want. One other thing that came up was the intros that I know a lot of people are saying like, oh my God, they got rid of the intros. Well, what I can say is this. In the past seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, they didn’t have those intros. In episode one, all you gotta do is go back to Hulu.

Go on Hulu, pull up Bachelor in Paradise. You’ll see the only seasons on there are six, seven, and eight. So season nine from two seasons ago isn’t even on Hulu. But all you have to do is go to the beginning episode or the beginning of the episode in season six, seven, and eight of episode one, and see that the show did not start with the intros.

With almost Paradise playing in the background. It started with a trailer for the season. Then Jesse and or Chris Harrison coming out welcoming everybody to the beach and then saying, here’s the contestants you will see this season. And then we immediately got into intro packages of the contestants. Now, because I just said that, that doesn’t mean that in episode two of this season of Bachelor in Paradise, we’re gonna get intros.

I’m sure we’re gonna get, okay, lemme take that back. I’m sure we’re gonna get intros. What I’m saying is I would be really surprised if they used Almost Paradise and did the intros that we’ve seen for the last four or five seasons. The, you know, the, or how they ever, always done it. The, you know, kind of making the funny intros as almost Paradise plays in the background.

Because looking at the way they’re doing the season of Paradise, they basically want to remove themselves and just. Kind of do a complete reset. So I can’t see them incorporating the same song that they used for nine seasons since they’ve changed everything up. But do I think there will be an intro to next week’s episode?

Yeah, I do. I just don’t think it’s gonna be a funny thing that the contestants are doing set to almost paradise playing in the background. I think it’s just gonna be, I don’t know what song they’re gonna use or what music they’re gonna use or whatever. But I think we will see like them maybe posing and then you have the giant Chiron on the screen.

Yeah, I can see that. But I don’t think it’s gonna be almost paradise. That’s just my opinion though. We’ll know in six days. I just get the sense that this show is trying to separate itself from the first nine seasons. They’re trying to rebrand the show, which I have no problem with. But if you’re rebranding the show, why would you use the same?

Intro song that you used for nine seasons. I just don’t see it happening. Not to mention did you hear all the music that played in Monday’s episode, the amount of songs that they had to get approved. It’s very love islandish. And then to throw a song in from the late seventies or whatever that whenever that song came out, maybe it was early eighties, it doesn’t fit with this new brand of the show.

So again, I would be shocked if they used almost paradise next week for the intros. This podcast brought to you by Zocdoc.
